Pleco & Oto Not Eating Algae Wafers? HELP.

I recently got a Petsmart Albino Bristlenose Plecostomus, I put seaweed wafers in it and he doesn’t seem to understand them, same goes for my Otoocinclus.

My Mollys are trying to eat the waffles so I take them out. (I don’t know if it’s safe for Mollies)

Now my pleco swims from pebble to pebble and sucks on it for about 2 milliseconds and it even sucks on my snail for about 3 seconds and my oto doesn’t do that, it just ****s on the walls and the artificial plants that are in there.

(Random: My Pleco was specially bred to not live past 6.)

I was wondering why my oto and my pleco don’t eat the seaweed waffles and my molly does? Why is my Pleco pebble sucking? Does he eat algae? Will my Pleco and Oto survive without seaweed wafers? (because they don’t eat them) will my molly die if she eats the waffles? do i have to use a different brand? Help.

Keep swimming 😋

Does anyone else have a pleco that simply won’t eat algae wafers?

Okay, just wondering if anyone else is having a similar problem. I bought a TINY Clown Pleco about 6 months ago (and I mean TINY, literally maybe 1.5 inches at most, he was about 2.5 inches when I bought him), he’s in 10 gallons currently until he’s bigger then I plan to include it in my 125. For the past three months I’ve been trying to get him to eat seaweed waffles and he never touches them. He doesn’t look stressed, his colors are super bright and when he’s on the glass his tummy doesn’t look tucked in at all, he actually looks a bit chunky. He’s on his driftwood 90% of the time. Do you think I should be worried?

The catfish that spawn in my tanks aren’t hard to come by, they’re just insanely expensive to buy and some grow about as fast as molasses flowing uphill. I also know that our well water is particularly conducive to being successful with lots of soft water fish. Almost all the Plecos I have worked with are from the Rio Xingu. I’ve been feeding a lot of frozen food since I drew the line on Live. I’ve done some live BBS and red wigglerworms but given my space considerations I’ve skipped live even though I know it’s the absolute best breeding food. I believe most of the fish we keep want to spawn and usually will as long as we make sure we don’t do things that prevent it. If we provide the right water parameters, use the right size aquarium with the right type of aquascape, and then if we feed good food and do the necessary tank maintenance, the fish will do the rest.

Repashy and frozen foods make up about 80% or more of my Plecos’ diet. The other 20% is a mix of kensfish.com foods. My shrimp are mostly Amanos and they will eat anything that comes in the tank. Basically it takes me about 30 minutes to feed Repashy to all my tanks as I cut it into small pieces and place them all over the tank. It takes about 5 minutes when I feed the kens fish food. These are fine if you’re not working on getting fish to spawn, but it’s the Repashy and the frozen one that does the trick.

I have never stored my Repashy powder in the fridge or freezer. But I make it in bulk and freeze most of it in pre-cut pieces that are individually wrapped. I think I stack 3 times a year or maybe 4 times.
