Choose the right card to choose from to create more options

If you pick 7 of Diamonds, only one card will be released. It’s good to have a new face up card on the board so you can collect it in future turns. But as the analysis shows, this option is currently not the best option on this TriPeaks board.

Many of us have worked on games in the past that didn’t have as much support from our players, but you guys make it really fun for us to come to work every day and try to improve this island gaming paradise for all of you. It’s challenging, motivating and rewarding for us to try to make sure you all continue to enjoy the world of Tiki & Poi.

Second, thank you all for taking the time to send in your questions. Not just for these questions and answers, but every day in the different ways you send them. I know it sometimes feels like some of this is falling on deaf ears, but it’s not. We’re a fairly small mobile gaming team (about 40 people total) and our Player Services and Community team members do a great job sharing your ideas, suggestions, complaints, and issues with the rest of the team. We may not always be able to answer or address your issue as quickly as we’d like, but we listen and prioritize our time based on what will be more fun for you all. I’ve been asking myself this question for almost ten months now: Why don’t you put up a sign somewhere in the game that says “Chat Here” and point to that chat arrow?

As an organizer, I had to delete over 300 players because they never responded to chat posts or followed our club instructions. For some reason they don’t see the chat arrow. They don’t go to the clubhouse either. You tied our hands. Thousands, tens of thousands of players are kicked out of clubs without knowing why they were removed. They’re angry, maybe they won’t play anymore. We organizers have a bad conscience because we boot them out. Many of these players got great points but were never in the Club Perk!

Just look, there are thousands of clubs where nobody ever chats, the only posts there are generated by the game.

How about? Please put up a chat sign with an arrow pointing to the chat arrow. How about a chat island? something please Please? Please? With a cherry on top? Please?

We can definitely improve the way we draw attention to chat. It could be much more useful for coordination within your club than it is today. I think we can do a better job of teaching people who are new to clubs where to find chat, but we can also do a better job of catching people’s attention by indicating that there are new chat messages. When we originally decided to add chat to the game, we were trying to keep in mind that it’s important for you to be able to access it while playing levels, and we didn’t want the little indicator to be too much of a distraction. We originally planned to make our red exclamation mark badge (which I’m sure you all know so well) and decided against it because it distracted us from testing. However, I think we can find a creative solution that makes it more eye-catching without being too distracting while you focus on card clearing. Thanks for the great suggestion!

I understand you have words that are censored – fair play to that. But why is the word/name “Kat” blocked? It is not a rude word in any language. I want to use this as my username but I can’t. I used that name initially when I started, then I changed it as a temporary measure and the problem started when I tried to change it again.

Yes we can! The chat filter word list definitely needs a clean up. We regularly tweak things when we hear about issues (like this one), but we’re also planning a fairly large overhaul over the next few weeks, and we’ll be asking players in the community for their improvement suggestions, so we can incorporate them into the overhaul.

Let me start with a thank you! I love this game! One of the things I would like to know is when will the low coins/points issue be fixed? I know it has been raised before but not resolved.

Also, how come the Treasure Shrine always says to look for free medallions, but I’ve never seen any? And why is the medallion bouncing off the bucket instead of actually going in and letting me win the 1,000,000 coins? This has happened to me several times and I don’t think it’s fair to have a prize that’s impossible to win. How come we get less points/coins when we use free spins? How come we can’t buy Golden Tiki tickets? Why aren’t volcano cards included in chests or perks? How come we can’t use free spins at our own discretion? Why is Perk 6 so hard? My club is always at least in the top 500, but we rarely finish all perks because we still need 3 days for 6! How come we can’t see how many points are required to complete each perk? I think that would make it easier and maybe motivate people to complete perks faster if they knew their objective. Why are the quests back to back? If they could be more spread out, that would be more of an incentive to play all day. Is there a way to create a Facebook page for our club? I’ve inquired about this before only to be told my question is sent to the correct department but never gets a response. Last but not least, how come we can only share 3k each on FB once a day? Really not much help. Not many people want to be friends with club members on FB that they would otherwise never know from just to get some coins.

When are coins/points locked? If this is around the time you win a game and don’t win enough coins to cover your entry cost, we’re working on it. It’s a little tricky to get right (because your payout can vary wildly depending on the bonuses you receive and individual level), but this IS in progress now. This will take a while to get through, but it’s in the works. For what it’s worth, this happens about 5% of the wins.

Where are the free Treasure Shrine medallions and why doesn’t the medallion just jump into the jackpot slot right now? You’ll see the medallions being awarded (in chests, etc.) now that everyone has the Treasure Chest! As for the unfortunate jumps in Treasure Shrine… I get it (it happens to me too!) but it can happen on any slot (not just the jackpot slot) and is part of the physics we built into the game. If the Treasure Shrine was a real contraption we built, it would happen there too. Keep trying and with more medallions given away as rewards, you should get more chances. We have about 4 jackpot winners a day, so it IS possible!

Why are the coin payouts lower when using a free game? This is now changing for everyone. You now get the same payouts regardless (which should also reduce the instances where the game pays out less than 3000 coins for a win, mostly in a free game). However, we used to reduce the coin cost of 5 more cards when you used a free spin and we removed that as well. So it will now pay out the same and cost more cards regardless. Free play only removes the coin cost to play the level (as the tiki gods intended!).

How come we can’t buy Golden Tiki tickets? Actually you can. A Golden Tiki card works the same as a wild card. We’ll just make it a gold tiki when it’s dealt to you.

Why aren’t volcano cards included in chests? Something tells me you’ll be seeing these soon.

Can we keep our free spins to use whenever we want? We’re looking at that too. It’s a very common request that I’d love to see if we can find a way to allow it. We need to find a way to prevent them from being exploited and customize them to access your collection from the pre-game screen.

Why is Perk 6 so hard?! We try to set up the perks each week to be a good mix of attainable and challenging, but also ensure the rewards are really worth working towards, no matter how active your club is. That means we need a really hard one (or two if we’re doing an extra perk) to keep the top clubs busy and challenged. We’re trying to make it so that whether your club normally completes 2 perks or completes all of them, you’ll get daily rewarding perks and treasure chests that are helpful and worth your extra effort of chasing down tributes and playing more levels. Balancing with such a wide range of clubs IS a challenge and we are constantly tinkering with that. I can tell you that it is VERY important to the team members who decide these each week that it remains fun and challenging for everyone. They take your feedback very seriously and use a staggering amount of data to learn how best to do this, but it’s an ongoing process. You guys adapt really quickly to our changes and keep surprising us!

Why not show the Club Points required for each benefit? You can blame me for that. Our team has discussed this many, many times since we introduced perks, and we’re quite divided on whether to do it. One of the “perks” of running the studio (see what I did there?) is that I can cast that rare deciding vote and always vote against. The reason: I did this in a previous job and it was actually demotivating for the majority of people and they stopped enjoying a previously very popular (and similar) feature. We’re always trying to learn from our past successes (and mistakes!), so we’re looking at alternative ways to give you a better sense of what’s required without reducing it to a simple number of Club Points. However, this is a common request. So if we can’t think of anything better soon, maybe we’ll just give it a try.

Why are quests back to back and not distributed? That’s because we want you to almost always have a quest available to work towards while playing away (although we have a daily cap to prevent people from burning out). We try to vary the time you have for each quest so you’re not always pressured into doing one that doesn’t leave you much time (we know we can’t have your attention 24/7 ). One option we’ve discussed is to allow people to “skip” or pause a quest so they can take a quest break or focus on something else in the game for a while (i.e. a bit of Tribute to hunt). I’d be interested to hear your feedback on whether you think this makes sense. It would definitely give you more control over the quests and when you want to work on them.

Can we create a Facebook page for our club? Yes! Check out Facebook’s groups feature. It’s a great way to do this and a number of clubs are already doing so. The only downside is that in order for you to add anyone from your club to the group, all your club members must have Facebook accounts (and some people just don’t get into the whole Facebook thing).

How come we only get 3,000 coins per share with our friends? That’s a great question. When we first started out with the “Help” features for Facebook friends, this was the easiest way. 1 friend = 1 free level, end of story. The truth is, we tested other coin denominations and found it didn’t really do much. This got us thinking that maybe we should overhaul the entire system so you might get things other than coins (wilds, free spins, medallions, etc.) and maybe get help from friends you have in TriPeaks who don’t necessarily have it are on Facebook. We’ve been looking at different ways to improve this and I definitely think we can make this more rewarding and fun for everyone than it is today. We haven’t started work yet, but keep an eye out for improvements to the in-game help system in the not too distant future.

What’s the deal with not getting free coins for watching commercials? I don’t even get those in my rewards and my teammates don’t have this problem. I’ve been told by your game staff that there won’t always be videos to watch, but that’s not true!

We are currently reviewing awarding some coins for the “brought to you by” ads you see between levels. I wish we had done this from the start, but we like to try things and adapt to what you all like and don’t like. I think the sentiments are pretty loud and clear in this case, a few coins for your time would be better. Thanks for the great question.

PS – If you don’t see the option to watch a coin promotional video in your inbox, it’s most likely because you closed that inbox item (without watching the ad) a few times in a row some time ago. If you close it several times in a row, we’ll make it disappear for a while so as not to bother you with it all the time. It should come back after a few weeks. Then, if you watch it instead of rejecting it, you should start watching it regularly again. You can also go to the Free Coins menu (button at the bottom right of your card) at any time and access the same Coins displays from there.

Perks are weekly rewards that you and your club can earn together. Each week the perks reset to a new set of rewards, like free spins tickets, bonus coins, or even wild cards.

All Club Points that you and other Club Members earn contribute to a benefit’s progress bar. Once the progress bar is filled, all club members will receive the perks AND a reward chest at the end of this event.

You can choose which perk you want to work toward by tapping the help button next to that perk. Each park has a different level of difficulty, listed under the perk number. The harder a perk is to complete, the better the rewards and the better the chest.
