We recommend a transition period of 7 days to make the transition as smooth as possible for your pet’s digestive system. You can extend the transition time if your cat is particularly sensitive to menu changes.

If a slow transition is not possible, feed smaller portions regularly. We recommend dividing the daily intake into 3 to 4 feedings per day. Adding warm water to the food also reduces the likelihood that your pet will eat too quickly and not chew thoroughly. Swallowing a very palatable product can cause vomiting. If at any point during the transition your pet experiences gastrointestinal distress, keep the ratio of new to old food the same for several days. This gives you time to adjust to the new relationship before you start eating more of the new food. If not switching to your old food, withhold the food for 1 day and then begin reintroducing 3 to 4 feedings per day mixed with warm water. All other treats and supplements should be withheld until the transition is complete. You may also notice a change in the appearance of your pet’s poop after the transition period. This can often be due to a change in the amount of fiber and protein in the new diet and is normal.
