Can hacked PS3 go online?
First, if you connect it to the internet and PSN, Sony will see that your console is jailbroken and ban you fro the network, meaning you can’t join online gaming nor can you download any games, DLCs, videos, and music. Second, your PS3 will be just useless. so, to be safe, don’t jailbreak it.

Is jailbreaking a PS3 illegal?
Jailbreaking is not illegal but it is something that Playstation wants you to avoid so they put pretty stiff penalties on you for doing so. Depending on how you plan on using your console, jailbreaking could not only be bad for Playstation but it could also be bad for you!
What Can a Jailbroken PS3 Do?
Ever wondered if you can get or do extra things with your PlayStation by jailbreaking it? Maybe one of your friends told you about this and it sounds like something very useful? Well, in this article we will answer all your questions.
So can you get banned for jailbreaking a PlayStation?
While there are many benefits to jailbreaking your PlayStation, PlayStation does not recommend it. Many gamers were banned from PlayStation immediately after jailbreaking their console.
Because as soon as the console turns on, it automatically connects to the PlayStation servers and you can immediately see if the machine’s software has been modified at all.
If you modify or jailbreak your PlayStation in any way, you will be banned from the PlayStation Network and will no longer be able to play online.

What is jailbreak?
Jailbreaking, whether you’re talking about a PlayStation, an iPhone or other gaming systems, basically just means that you can “unlock” your device and run whatever software you choose. Many companies have “locked” devices that don’t allow you to install third-party software for your security, and so you can’t install unauthorized software either.
Jailbreaking isn’t always about using or installing unauthorized software, but many people who jailbreak their consoles do it just for that reason.
Since jailbreaking can be used for both legal and illegal reasons, all device manufacturers frown upon it and all will void your warranty if you jailbreak your device and in the case of Playstation, they will also ban you from using their online services.
Jailbreaking gives you access to a lot of cool things that aren’t illegal, but it also has a negative side.
Below we will discuss the downsides that come with jailbreaking your PlayStation as most people know all the good things that come with it.
Can I get banned for jailbreaking my console?
Jailbreaking isn’t illegal, but Playstation wants you to avoid it, so they’ll subject you to some pretty harsh penalties for doing so. Depending on how you intend to use your console, jailbreaking could not only be bad for the Playstation, it could be bad for you too!
It is not often not beneficial for the user to jailbreak their console as there are high chances that you will get banned for jailbreaking your PlayStation. Although you might not get banned immediately if you complete the process carefully and know a few tricks.
If you want to jailbreak your PlayStation, you might not attract the attention of the server by using a few tricks that can help avoid getting banned. Here’s a short video showing you some tricks on not getting caught when your PlayStation is locked.
If you are caught using a jailbroken PlayStation, you will inevitably be banned from the network. The worst thing is that with this console it is not possible to ever get unbanned again. Also, if you get caught, you won’t have access to a lot of things on the PlayStation Network, which is the opposite of what you want to achieve by jailbreaking your console.
You should know that every time you start your PlayStation, it is in contact with the PlayStation server. So if you try to use software from an unauthorized source, Sony will be notified of the violation immediately.
Once Sony is notified, your account will be suspended immediately. This is why it is important that you avoid jailbreaking your PlayStation to avoid being banned.
Disadvantages of Jailbreak
There are a few downsides to jailbreaking. Some of them are mentioned here. It is important to know the pros and cons of jailbreaking so that you can make an informed decision.
You can be banned
As mentioned earlier, Sony can see the unauthorized sources you are getting the games from. Not only can this lead to your account being banned, but it can also help to find out the source of the ban. Even if you go through the process smoothly and carefully, there is still a high chance that you will get banned.
After getting banned for jailbreaking your PlayStation, the chances of getting banned are extremely slim. You will lose access to online games and other online services that you would normally use the PlayStation for if you get banned.
No updates
If you jailbreak, you will lose access to PSN. Also, you won’t be able to get updates for your games. It also means that you have to stick to the same features of the games and not be able to get rid of all the bugs that may appear in the game as these are usually removed by the updates.
Jailbreaking is permanent and once you’ve performed it on your console, even if you unjailbreak your console, PlayStation can detect it and will still ban you. If you’ve already been banned, it won’t unlock you even if you remove the jailbreak.
No online gaming
This is one of the worst disadvantages of jailbreak as all gamers would hate to lose access to their online games. Online gaming is quite a lot of fun and is one of the main reasons for getting a PlayStation. If you lose access to these, we don’t think it’s worth jailbreaking.
You lose access to it because you don’t have the PSN. Plus, you stay in the same frame of your console forever. Another disadvantage you may face is not having access to new online games or new online updates.
If my PlayStation is jailbroken, can I still play PlayStation Plus?
Many people have this question. PlayStation Plus has become very popular lately as they have added popular games to the online platform that you can play for free! Since these games are popular and 100% free, many people prefer to have only one PlayStation Plus account as they get the games for free, similar to jailbreaking your PlayStation.
However, if your device is already jailbroken, you cannot have a PlayStation Plus account as you will be banned from the entire online PlayStation network.
Conclusion
Now that you know all about the bad and the good sides of jailbreaking your device, you can decide for yourself what you want to do. Many people who have read this will probably have decided that jailbreaking their device just isn’t worth the risk of being banned.
In this day and age of online gaming, many people prefer to play online rather than have a jailbroken PlayStation. That’s because people love to play and chat with people around the world.
Not only that, PlayStation now has the PlayStation Plus accounts where people can play free games and have access to play all your games online and talk to all your friends.
However, if you decide to jailbreak your PlayStation, you should be extremely careful as Sony has cracked down on jailbroken PlayStations. They don’t want them on their platform and are very strict about immediately banning any user who has a jailbroken device.
Can jailbroken PS3 play PS2 games?
If you have a jailbroken PS3, you can use it to play most PS2 games. the process is a bit more complex, and requires that your console be jailbroken or modded, which voids your warranty and can get your console banned from PSN.

BROWSER.SELF
This is a standalone browser that can be used by any other application (not just multiMAN).
Supports downloading files
FTP server running in the background (openps3ftp) (login: anonymous, password:
Allocates ~150MB for the browser, so no more ‘insuff’. memory error
If the URL is parsed, it will be opened. If not -> Official PS3 UK site will open
On exit, it returns to the calling application (if RELOAD.SELF is present in the same folder).
Downloaded files are saved in the current folder + ./DOWNLOADS
If present in multiMAN’s USRDIR folder, it will be used instead of the built-in mM browser.
Other developers are free to use it in their apps.
The correct way would be to create your own EBOOT.BIN calling BROWSER.SELF with any parameter/URL you want.
CODE:
void launch_self(char *_self, char *_param) { char* launchargv[2]; char self[256]; sprintf(self, “%s”, _self); memset(launchargv, 0, sizeof(launchargv)); launchargv[0] = (char*)malloc(strlen(_param) + 1); strcpy(launchargv[0], _param); startargv[1] = NULL; exitspawn((const char*)self, (char* const*)launchargv, NULL, NULL, 0, 64, SYS_PROCESS_PRIMARY_STACK_SIZE_512K); }
begin
launch_self(browser_self, start_page);
Self-explanatory
launch_self((char*)”/dev_hdd0/game/XXXX12345/USRDIR/BROWSER.SELF”, (char*)”http://www.google.com/”);

All your games show a black screen after installing on 3.55 firmware?
It has been reported several times that such a problem can occur after installing KMEAW 3.55 CFW on a new PS3 system or after updating from 3.41. In any case, the solution is quite simple: * Download and install the “FIX PERMISSIONS” package file ([http://www.4shared.com/file/AHE7153v/Fix_Permission_For_Waninkoko_K.html download link]) * Start the tool and wait for it to finish its work – it will take you back to the XMB screen. * Try starting multiMAN and loading a game – everything should be fine now.

Support for AVCHD and BDMV structures
multiMAN supports the management of AVCHD and BDMV structures, but does not play them. It mounts them in the right places so your PS3 can find/recognize the textures and play them from the XMB [Video] tab menu.
You can create suitable AVCHD structures using various tools and devices such as MultiAVCHD, AVCHD Coder, tsMuxeR and AVCHD camcorders.
Coloring and prefixes in the game display modes:
YELLOW COLOR = AVCHD ORGANS/RED COLOR = Blu-ray (BDMV)
[Video] (YELLOW color) = AVCHD on external USB hard drive/stick [Video] (ORANGE/RED color) = BDMV on external USB hard drive/stick – NOT WORKING CORRECTLY– NOT WORKING CORRECTLY [HDD Video] (Yellow) = AVCHD on internal HDD
[HDD Video] (Orange/Red) = BDMV on internal HDDAVCHD or BDMV on external hard drive/USB must be saved in root\ folder of your device:
X:\AVCHD_MOVIE_1\BDMV\INDEX.BDM X:\BLURAY_MOVIE_2\BDMV\index.bdmv (NOT WORKING PROPERLY)
AVCHD or BDMV on the internal hard drive must be saved in the same folder where your games are located (e.g. /dev_hdd0/GAMES)
/dev_hdd0/GAMES/MOVIE_1/BDMV/INDEX.BDM /dev_hdd0/GAMES/MOVIE_2/BDMV/index.bdmv
AVCHD movies on external USB hard drive/stick are correctly renamed upon activation (only ONE active AVCHD folder is supported by PS3)
BDMV (Blu-ray) movies on external USB are mounted as BDMV disc (original BD game/video disc required) – NOT WORKING PROPERLY
AVCHD movies on the internal hard drive are mounted on an externally connected USB/SDHC/MS storage device (USB stick/SDHC/MS card required with 22 KB free)
BDMV (Blu-ray) movies on the internal hard drive must be converted to AVCHD before mounting. multiMAN asks you to do this for you – accept it and convert it. Then it will be mounted as AVCHD.
BDMV (Blu-ray) movies created with JAVA extension (BD-J discs) are not supported. You can check the contents of BDJO or JAR folders. If there are files there – it will not work.
Playback of the mounted structure is done by activating the AVCHD icon on the XMB Video tab of the PS3 – you need to select the USB/SDHC/MS storage device that will be used for mounting.

About firmwares and syscalls
First of all (status: 01/26/2011): Firmware 3.41:
PS3Jailbreak/PSGroove/PSFreedom (first versions) = SYSCALL36
Later sticks/payload revisions = SYSCALL6 + SYSCALL7 (peek/poke)
Later payload revisions = SYSCALL8 (Hermes 4)
Later payload revisions = SYSCALL35 (PL3)
Firmware 3.55:
CFW GH: Install signed PKG files
CFW Wutang: SYSCALL6 + SYSCALL7 (Peek/Poke) + signed PKG
CFW Kmeaw: SYSCALL6 + SYSCALL7 (Peek/Poke) + signed + fake_signed PKG
CFW WNK: SYSCALL6 + SYSCALL7 + signed PKG + SYSCALL36 + something else
Now for 3.41 with original PSGroove/PSfreedom you get:
SYSCALL36 (Enables BD emulator to run games with disc in tray)
nothing else
Later PSG/PSF revisions:
SYSCALL6 (peek: read values from lv2 (gameos) memory)
SYSCALL7 (Poke: write values to lv2 (gameos) memory)
SYSCALL36 (Enables BD emulator to run games with disc in tray)
nothing else
Later Hermes (1,2,3)
SYSCALL6 (peek: read values from lv2 (gameos) memory)
SYSCALL7 (Poke: write values to lv2 (gameos) memory)
SYSCALL36 (Enables BD emulator to run games with disc in tray)
SYSCALL36 (also remaps /app_home)
Now for 3.41 with Hermes4 you get:
SYSCALL6 (peek: read values from lv2 (gameos) memory)
SYSCALL7 (Poke: write values to lv2 (gameos) memory)
SYSCALL8 (Allow redirects to all paths including /dev_usb for AVCHD HDD)
SYSCALL36 (Allow redirection of /dev_bdvd to enable BD emulator)
SYSCALL36 (also remaps /app_home)
For 3.41 with PL3 (regular) you get:
SYSCALL35 (Allow redirects to all paths including /dev_usb for AVCHD HDD)
SYSCALL36 (Allow redirection of /dev_bdvd to enable BD emulator)
SYSCALL36 (also remaps /app_home)
For 3.41 with PL3 DEV you get:
SYSCALL6 (peek: read values from lv2 (gameos) memory)
SYSCALL7 (Poke: write values to lv2 (gameos) memory)
SYSCALL35 (Allow redirects to all paths including /dev_usb for AVCHD HDD)
SYSCALL36 (Allow redirection of /dev_bdvd to enable BD emulator)
SYSCALL36 (also remaps /app_home)
As you can see from the list, Hermes4 and PL3 DEV support EVERYTHING you need and this is NOT SCHEDULED for FW 3.55 yet.
Remember that multiMAN supports and works with ANY of these listed modes/payloads/system calls/firmwares. You have to understand that supporting so many variations and keeping all of them stable is a challenge, but multiMAN supports them and is stable for both 3.41 and 3.55 as of version 14.01.00 (+ older firmwares 3.10-3.30, which many of you forgot about).
Now the differences in 3.55:
3.55: GH: provides a way to install signed packages, period! 3.55: WNK/WTNG/KMEAW: Enable SYSCALL6 + SYSCALL7 for Peek+Poke + signed (or not) PKG files
As you can see: no syscall8, syscall35 or syscall36 in 3.55 firmwares (except WNK).
Now we’ve come to the point where the user has to decide what to do:
Use the Lv2 patcher and get:
– PL3 type payload with many freezing problems but with SYSCALL35+SYSCALL36+APP_HOME – Start multiMAN (which recognizes PL3/syscall35) and you can play AVCHD from internal harddisk
Use multiMAN 01.16.00+ to get:
– No payload of any kind included in the distribution – Support for “black screen games” with external USB hard drive
BDEMU.BIN or external payload required to enable the following features:
– Support for AVCHD/BDMV structures stored on internal hard drive (AVCHD HDD) – Path redirects for /dev_bdvd and /app_home – BDEMU.BIN is not distributed with installation packages

What is hen for ps3?
What is HEN? Without oversimplifying, HEN is the abbreviation for a “homebrew enabler”. Homebrew on your system means that any code designed to work on that system can now also be ran on that system. This could be custom games or emulators or backup tools for running your legal backups.
What Can a Jailbroken PS3 Do?
What is HEN?
Without simplifying, HEN is short for “Homebrew Enabler”. Homebrew on your system means that any code developed for that system will now run on that system. These can be custom games or emulators or backup tools to run your legal backups. Sometimes it can even be tweaks and modifications to the system to improve it in one way or another. Typically the HEN is installed on a console that may not be permanently CFW’d like newer hardware revisions. So you can see the reasons why a homebrew enabler would be useful, especially on non-gen consoles.
What did firmware 4.88 actually bring?
Do you really want to know the official answer? Can you guess what the changelog for 4.88 said? Here is the direct quote from Sony. “This system software update improves system performance.” It’s clear that they’ve added another update for the PS3 because they’ve decided to keep the PS Store open longer on the PS3.
How to install HEN on any PS3, even the super slim model.

What Can a Jailbroken PS3 Do?
0. Requirements
To run any of the following tools, you need a jailbroken PS4. At the time of writing this article, all PS4s up to firmware 9.00 can be jailbroken and we detail the process here.
If you’re on 9.03 or later, you’re out of luck as of January 2022, but stay patient and a jailbreak could be coming your way soon (at that point, all the utilities below will apply to you, too).
1. Custom Themes
One of the first things you’ll want to do with a hacked PS4 is adapt it to Oblivion. Custom themes are among the most popular things people love to do on their hacked PS4. Sam Daniel has a great tutorial video on how to install and use custom themes here:
2. Game mods and patches, cheats
You can tweak your games to your heart’s content on a jailbroken PS4, and many developers have provided tools and patches for that.
60 FPS patches
Arguably one of the most requested features is 60fps patches in games, with Lance McDonald’s 60fps patch for Bloodborne being one of the highlights (download link).
Developer Illusion has provided a huge list of such patches as we have mentioned here. More recently, the developer has released FPS patches for Gravity Rush 2, Alien Isolation, MediEvil, Witcher 3 and more… (check out his blog!)
Game cheats, trainer and debug menus
Several developers provide cheat codes for your favorite games. There are several trainers for the PS4, such as B. MultiTrainer or the web-based PS4 trainer. Several exploit hosts also have some trainer features, and you can create your own cheats with a little practice.
Again, Modded Warfare has a great tutorial on using trainers on your hacked PS4:
Some teams offer full cheat menus that are added to your game, such as: B. Oysters for Read Dead Redemption 2.
save shares
Getting someone else’s save used to be a perfectly legitimate and acceptable way to progress in a game you were stuck on. That was until Sony and others decided that saves are now uniquely encrypted per console, preventing you from sharing saves with your friends. PS4 Save Mounter now corrects this injustice and allows you to share game saves with friends or use saved games that you have downloaded from the internet. Modded Warfare has a great tutorial on how to use this tool here:
3. Emulation
PS1 and PS2 games
You can run a huge range of PS1 and PS2 games on a hacked PS4. This is done by creating package files from the roms/isos and then installing them using the method of your choice (usually GoldHEN’s package installer). Please note that not all games are compatible.
Check out the tutorial video below, by who else from Modded Warfare:
PS4 Retroarch and other emulators
The PS4 Homebrew Store has downloads for several emulators for you to try, including an unofficial port of Retroarch in particular. “Unofficial” is a bit unfair here, the port is high quality but simply cannot be publicly promoted by the Retroarch team as it was built using a leaked Sony SDK instead of the open source SDK. Retroarch lets you emulate a wide range of emulators and should probably be your first choice before looking for others. Apart from that, other emulators may offer some features or performance that you cannot find in Retroarch’s cores.
For those interested in Saturn games, developer Jabu has released Saturn-fpkg, a tool that allows you to turn Saturn roms into installable packages on jailbroken PS4s. Share thread and download here.
4. Homebrew Games for PS4
The PS4 Homebrew Store is where you will find a selection of homebrew games that will run on the PS4.
5. Running Linux on PS4
It is possible to install and run Linux on your PS4. The console can run Steam, and to some extent Steam games (although you’ll need some significant Linux experience to run semi-recent games at a reasonable speed).
Michael Crump has a great tutorial on installing Linux on PS4 here:
Currently installing Steam games on my PS4 after 9.00 jailbreak! time for some fun! Thanks @NazkyYT for the 9.00 Linux loader! pic.twitter.com/QeSpCGKxSt — Arata Akatsuki (@LavaVex) December 21, 2021
Alternative tutorial video below by Echo Stretch on installing Manjaro Linux on PS4:
6. Other Tools and Utilities
There are a number of tools and utilities that you can run on your PS4 to turn it into an FTP server or more
The FTP payload is typically provided on most exploit hosts and is part of GoldHEN, so in general it should be pretty straightforward
The Hamachi client allows you to run a LAN over the Internet, allowing you to play LAN games with friends over the Internet. Check out our article here.
The Homebrew Store also has a selection of utilities
7. PS4 game “Backups”
The elephant in the room. On a jailbroken PS4, it’s very possible to “backup” your PS4 games and play them DRM-free. We will not detail how to do this here, you can find this information anywhere else. While we’re not really advocating pirating your PS4 games, we can’t deny that this is one of the top use cases for a jailbroken PS4 these days.
Are there any other cool things you do on your jailbroken PS4 that we’re missing here? Let us know in the comments!
Can I jailbreak ps3 Super Slim?
The reason that the super slim cannot be jailbroken is because NO superslim model came with 3.55 stock firmware and since the ONLY way to add custom firmware to your ps3 is for it to have the ability to either downgrade from 3.56 OFW or already have 3.55 firmware installed on it.

Can I play PS4 games on jailbroken PS3?
Can a jailbroken PS4 play PS3 games? No. It would require emulation to run PS3 games on PS4 because of the different architecture. The PS3 has the Cell architecture and a higher clocked CPU than the PS4’s CPU so its not possible to emulate PS3 games on PS4 hardware.

How to Jailbreak a PS3 (with Pictures)
This wikiHow teaches you how to jailbreak a PlayStation 3. Jailbreaking allows you to install mods, cheats, third-party applications, and games that you normally cannot use on the PS3. Remember that jailbreaking your PS3 is against Sony’s terms of service, so you cannot go online while the jailbreak is active without risking being permanently banned. It’s also important to remember that some PS3 models, like some versions of the Slim and all versions of the Super Slim, cannot be jailbroken.
What Can a Jailbroken PS3 Do?
Sony’s PlayStation 3 console can be jailbroken to add many additional features – but what can a jailbroken PS3 do? Let’s find out!
wanna feel old Sony’s PS3 console was first released in Japan and the US in late 2006; that was almost sixteen years ago now. It was released in PAL regions in March 2007 – that’s fifteen years ago now.
Despite its age, the PlayStation 3 is still a fairly capable console – and there are ways to modify the console, aka jailbreak, which opens it up to many different options that wouldn’t otherwise be accessible.
We’ve covered similar things for other consoles – see our What Can a Hacked PS Vita Do for another example.
A quick word of warning…
Note that jailbreaking your PS3 is done at your own risk – as this is against Sony’s Terms of Service, you cannot go online while the jailbreak is active; You risk a permanent ban from Sony.
retro gaming
It will come as no surprise to you reading this article about Retro Dodo that the team here is extremely keen on retro games. This is one of the biggest advantages of a jailbroken PS3.
Retroarch – the do-it-all emulator that emulates almost any console game from most eras with ease – runs on a jailbroken PS3. So once installed, all you have to do is add ROMs, and you’ll be indulging in wonderful retro gaming nostalgia in no time!
Playing PS3 games
“But I can just play PS3 games on my PS3 without jailbreaking it,” I hear you say. Well, yes, but can you play all PS3 games, even those that aren’t in your library? Or PS3 games that have been delisted and withdrawn from sale altogether?
No you can’t. So, jailbreaking your PS3 opens up the opportunity for you to use those games that have long been missed in action. However, be warned that there are many legal gray areas when downloading game files if you don’t own the games in question.
Customize the user interface
When you jailbreak a Sony PS3, you can customize almost every aspect of its interface, including the startup sound and background design. Sure, it’s not exactly the most important feature – but the level of personalization adds nice options to a jailbroken console.
Play your PS3 game collection without discs
So how about the sheer convenience of storing your physical game collection on a hard drive without ever having to input or swap discs? This is something else you can do with a jailbroken PS3!
Installing your own hard drive
Once your PS3 is jailbroken, you can install your own hard drive to increase your console’s storage capacity – and store much of your PS3 game collection on it too!
Play homebrew games
Sure, retro and PS3 games may have dubious legal pedigree – but what about PS3-specific homebrew games? Of course there is no problem – and there are plenty of them.
Of course, we can’t tell you where to download ROMs or game files for the PS3 (or other PlayStation consoles), but you should be able to find what you’re looking for online without too much trouble.
Most importantly, remember that if your PS3 jailbreaks or jailbreaks, unfortunately it’s game over for your console, so tinker with it at your own risk – but most of all, have fun!
So let’s just say it.
What can a jailbroken PS3 do?
A jailbroken PS3 can do a variety of things. For example, it can run an emulator to play a range of retro games via ROMs (including PS3 without discs), you can customize the user interface, you can install your own hard drive, and you can even play homebrew games.
