Now that you know about the best foundation sticks available online, let’s look at how to use them effectively.

How to use foundation sticks

Wash your face to remove all dirt and oil.

Use a light moisturizer on your face and neck.

Apply a primer to shrink pores and make your foundation last longer.

Twist the foundation so that the pencil barely sticks out over the edge.

Swipe it across your forehead, the bridge of your nose, under your eyes, your chin and cheeks.

Blend the foundation into your skin with a sponge or clean fingertips.

Set your foundation with powder if it doesn’t have a matte finish.

Although there is a wide range of foundation sticks on the market, it is difficult to find the right one for your skin. Below are a few points to help you find the right product.

Things to Consider Before Buying a Stick Foundation

skin type

Choose a formula for your skin type. Just like liquid foundations, stick foundations are made for different skin types. If you have dry skin, opt for a foundation stick that will nourish and moisturize. For oily skin, matte foundation sticks are best. If you have combination skin, choose a formula that is light on dry areas and has a matte finish on oily areas.

ingredients

Check the ingredient list to avoid anything your skin may be allergic or sensitive to. Natural or organic foundation sticks are made with gentle and pure ingredients that won’t harm your skin, so they’re a good option. If you can’t find organic foundation sticks, look for one with fewer chemicals and synthetic additives.

Moisturizing power

Foundation sticks packed with moisturizing and hydrating ingredients are best for giving your skin a dewy glow without leaving it feeling dry or oily. Moisturizing ingredients like jojoba oil, vitamin E oil and argan oil are considered the best for skin care.

UV protection

Are you looking for a foundation stick that protects your skin from sun damage and prevents the first signs of aging and blemishes? A foundation stick with broad spectrum SPF 30 or more is an excellent choice. It also eliminates the need to apply an extra layer of sunscreen.

cover

Foundations offer light, medium or full coverage. Choose the opacity you want based on your skin needs. For example, if you have clear skin, choose light coverage as this will only even out your skin tone. However, if you are dealing with issues like scars and acne, opt for medium or full coverage stick foundations.

Skin color

For a perfect finish, choose a foundation that matches your skin tone. If you have a warm skin tone, choose a foundation stick with yellow or peachy undertones. Pink shades are best for cool skin. For neutral tones, yellow is a perfect choice.

staying power

Your foundation should not fade or dull a few hours after application. To avoid this situation, choose a foundation stick that will last a few hours on your skin. Read the label carefully to learn more about the foundation’s staying power.

Foundation sticks are real saviors for those who have very little time for makeup. They are easy to use and travel friendly. The above products are suitable for a wide range of skin types and will leave you with flawless skin in no time. Choose a product from the list above and enchant yourself whenever you need it, wherever you need it!

Is stick foundation better?

Are foundation sticks better than liquid? Traditionally, stick foundation was sought out by those looking for full coverage that was easy to apply. However, today’s formulations offer a lot in terms of coverage and finish, making stick foundation as versatile as liquid. It all comes down to your own texture preference.

10 Best Foundations (Reviews) for Asian Skin Tone

We independently research, test, review and recommend the best products – learn more about our process. If you buy something through our links, we may earn a commission.

So if you’re looking for a simple, clean, all-around cover product, look no further than our in-depth edit below. We’ve got long-lasting options, acne-proof picks, and a drugstore trinket you can buy with loose change.

Foundation Sticks are the unsung heroes of the multitasking makeup world. Not only do they act as a direct coverage product, but they can also be used as a concealer or contouring product. All in a super compact size that won’t take up much space in your makeup bag. It also doesn’t hurt that they’ve come a long way in recent years. Gone are the thick, heavy formulas of young people’s dance evenings. Instead, many brands offer products that combine full coverage with a dewy finish — a beauty combo that’s easier said than done.

BareMinerals is known for their acne-friendly products and this stick is no exception. Free from clogging oils and heavy fillers, it effortlessly conceals blemishes, blemishes and redness. Use all over or as a spot concealer or to touch up makeup throughout the day.

Want a bulletproof cover that doesn’t move? Lancome is here for you. This handy stick ticks all the boxes: full coverage, long lasting, transfer resistant and buildable. There’s also a slight SPF, but we recommend going over your regular sunscreen for adequate protection (can’t overdo it).

If you don’t usually like stick foundations, this product will convert you (promise). Not only is the texture lightweight and blendable, but the stick itself is packed with skin-friendly ingredients like plant-derived squalane, camellia seed oil, and coconut. The texture is heavenly and it doesn’t require much effort to work into the skin. Best of all, it provides long-lasting moisture for dry skin types.

Occasionally, oily skin and dull surfaces don’t get along – the oil just causes the product to settle or separate. Milk Makeup offers a solution with Flex, a workable but mattifying option that won’t crack or crease when the midday shine appears. The secret ingredient is marshmallow root, an extract that gives the product bounce and freedom to move with (rather than against) the contours of your face.

BLK/OPL is a line of cosmetics specifically designed for deeper skin tones, so the color offering here is very impressive. The coverage is second to none, so it works well in hard-to-conceal conditions.

This innovative launch is like a tinted moisturizer in a stick form and we’re here for it. Unlike more pigment-rich options, this goes quite sheer and blurs the look of pores, blemishes, and uneven skin tone. If you’re someone who prefers CC creams and a barely-there coverage, you’ll love this. The line contains a great mix of warm and cool shades also for lighter skin tones.

Trust RiRi when it comes to creating a stick foundation that delivers both coverage and gorgeous cheekbones in one swipe. The texture is light but super matte, making facial contouring surprisingly easy – all you need is a damp sponge and a little patience. If you’re new to the game, we recommend sweeping product along the bottom of your cheekbones, across your forehead (almost at the hairline), and along your jawline. Blend until it’s undetectable and marvel at your bone structure. Rihanna, we owe you one.

You want super fresh skin on the go? Makeup guru Huda Kattan’s FauxFilter stick is truly amazing. The tapered triangular tip makes it easy to spot apply in tricky areas, while the creamy finish makes blending a breeze (even with fingers). It gives the skin a filtered look but in a natural, believable way. Call it magic or just really good makeup, but still take our money.

Holly Rhue, the Byrdie-based foundation expert, loves this hourglass offering for a variety of reasons. First, it’s waterproof and durable, meaning it can withstand whatever your day wants to throw at you. Although it’s rich in pigment (three times more than regular foundation), the warmth of your skin means it blends like a dream. Expensive, yes, but worth it – trust.

“This foundation stick is a soft, smooth and creamy product and was really easy to use and apply to my skin.” — Khera Alexander , product tester

With 43 shades in the range, this option deserves a gold star from us in terms of inclusivity. But the real kicker is the texture. It’s not thick like other pen formulations. Instead, it glides on easily and almost melts, resulting in a radiant-looking complexion. Drier skin types will also appreciate the inclusion of emollients like olive extract and shea butter.

These are the 10 best foundations with SPF – and we’ve tried so many

“The Tom Ford Traceless Foundation Stick gives you smooth, natural-looking skin in minutes. Its easy-to-blend formula and weightless feel keeps skin looking healthy and lasts for hours without stickiness or fading.” — Khera Alexander , Product Tester

There’s just something about Tom Ford that gets our hearts beating, including that butterstick. Creamy and malleable, this product is easy to adjust to desired coverage. Apply to spots and blend with a damp sponge for a sheer look or sweep in and buff in for a full face. The finish is also naturally matte so it doesn’t settle into creases or fine lines.

No joke: these drugstore foundations really are the best

We love a cheap makeup thrill, and this budget buy from Wet n Wild is one of the best. It offers full coverage and a flawless finish, but in a way that’s not too thick or mask-like. Enriched with argan and sunflower seed oils, it feels hydrated on the skin yet dries to a soft, matte finish.

A creamy formula that glides on like a second skin and gives a gorgeous natural finish? Check and check. Make all your foundation dreams come true with this product from Make Up For Ever. Designed for all skin types, the full coverage formula helps conceal everything from redness and blemishes to scars and dark circles. But the best part is that while the finish does a great job of masking, it doesn’t look cakey.

Who else recommends it? Glamor and Allure both chose Make Up For Ever Ultra HD Stick Foundation.

Final Verdict

Stick foundations are actually an incredibly versatile product. By default, they usually offer full coverage and a natural matte finish, but what’s great is that you can customize the application to suit your aesthetic. Team Byrdie especially loves Hourglass (check out Sephora) for its creamy texture, Make Up For Ever (check out Sephora) for its flawless coverage, and Westman Atelier (check out Violet Grey) for intense moisture. But if you want a bargain, there’s no getting around Wet n Wild (see Ulta) – a triple threat of pigment, durability and price.

What to look for in a stick foundation

Buildable cover

One of the best things about today’s crop of modern stick foundations are the lightweight formulas that make them so versatile. Apply a little where you need it as a concealer, add more for a light coverage foundation, or apply all the way for medium to full coverage that looks completely natural and never thick or sticky.

A lightweight formula

Don’t assume it’s super heavy just because it’s a stick foundation. Some of the competitors on our list give fairly sheer coverage in a lightweight formula that may be better suited to oily or acne-prone skin.

Your preferred finish

Just like liquid or cream variants, stick foundations offer the same versatility in terms of finish. From simple matte to dewy and luminous to a pore-blurring finish that gets you selfie-ready in seconds, there’s a formula for everyone.

FAQ Which Foundation Stick is the best? The simple answer is the one that works best for you. The hard answer is finding that product, but consider these three factors to refine your search: 1) Tone range – take the time to find the ideal shade that suits and enhances your skin tone. 2) Coverage – Today’s selection of stick foundations offers coverage that ranges from barely there to full, with many Happy Medium products allowing you to build up coverage depending on the occasion. 3) Finish – from traditional matte to skin-blurring, find the finish that suits your skin best.

Are foundation sticks better than liquid? Traditionally, stick foundation was sought out by those wanting full coverage that was easy to apply. However, today’s formulations offer a lot in terms of coverage and finish, making stick foundations as versatile as they are liquid. It all comes down to your own texture preference.

What does a foundation stick do? Think of a foundation stick as solid makeup, or essentially a heavier form of liquid or cream foundation that’s easy to apply and blend into the skin. Thanks to the practical format, you can also easily use the pen foundation for concealing and contouring.

How long does stick foundation last?

If used properly, liquid foundation can last up to a year. Bacteria love water-based makeup. You can prevent contamination by not using your fingers to apply them. Stick concealers can last up to 2 years.

10 Best Foundations (Reviews) for Asian Skin Tone

If you have sensitive skin, you need to be very careful about how long you need to keep makeup. Sometimes it’s hard to throw away your favorite blush or lipstick, but it’s important to weigh the problems that old makeup can cause, especially if you have sensitive skin. Unfortunately, unlike food labels, there are no printed expiration dates for makeup on cosmetic labels. However, there are subtle ways to tell if you need to part with them. For example, common sense tells you that odors should be tossed away at a sticky, sticky lip gloss. If your nail polish is peeling off, it’s too old.

Some makeup and skincare packaging has a printed jar with a number followed by the letter M. This symbol, the time after opening (PAO) symbol, indicates how many months you can keep the product after opening.

If it doesn’t have that label, use the following guideline as a general rule on how long to store your makeup, and you’ll never have to look at a drawer full of old cosmetics from years ago again.

Mascara – Mascara and liquid eyeliner have the shortest shelf life: 3 to 4 months. It’s important not to pump the wand into the liquid as this tends to encourage bacteria to multiply within it. If your mascara gets dry, don’t add water, just throw it away. If your eye becomes irritated after use, throw it away immediately. If it smells bad, throw it away too. You don’t want to risk an eye infection called “conjunctivitis” (red eyes).

Eye or Lipsticks – Any type of pencil can be stored for up to 2 years. Sharpen as needed to keep tip clean.

Eyeshadows – Powder shadows can last up to 2 years, while liquid ones last around 12 months.

Liquid foundation, concealer – it is best to use an applicator with makeup. If you put your finger in a product, bacteria can get inside. Liquid foundation lasts up to a year when used correctly. Bacteria love water-based makeup. You can prevent contamination by not applying it with your fingers. Stick concealers can last up to 2 years.

Lipstick – As long as it’s not a liquid lipstick, it can last up to a year or more.

Lip Gloss – Most lip glosses are in liquid form. Their shelf life is shorter than lipstick. They can last about 6 months.

Blush – Powder based makeup can last from 18 months to 2 years. Cream blush should not be used after 12 months.

It is specifically designed to control shine and has a matte finish. This is great if you find your skin becomes oilier and shinier throughout the day.

10 Best Foundations (Reviews) for Asian Skin Tone

When you have oily skin, it can seem almost impossible to find a foundation that sits well, looks smooth, doesn’t clump, and moves throughout the day.

Oily skin isn’t the best surface for foundation, and as your skin gets oilier throughout the day, you’ll often find that your foundation starts to look greasy and slide off your face. This can be a nightmare for aesthetic reasons, but it can also feel uncomfortable.

One of the worst things about buying makeup is that once you open it, you can’t return it. This can be annoying as you may be spending a lot of money on a foundation that promises to work wonders only to have it be just as bad as the rest.

There are still many foundations that promise to sit well on oily skin. We’ve compiled a list of the best MAC foundations for oily skin so you can stop searching and find your perfect combo.

Our top pick for the best MAC foundation for oily skin is MAC Studio Fix Fluid SPF15.

This foundation is one of MAC’s most popular products for a reason. It is specially formulated to control shine and has a matte finish. This is great if you find your skin getting oilier and shinier throughout the day.

Not only does this ensure a matte finish from the first application, but it also controls the shine of your face for up to 24 hours.

SPF should be an integral part of your daily skincare and makeup routine. Although something is better than nothing, SPF 15 is not very high and offers minimal protection.

The consistency of this foundation is also great for oily skin as it is itself oil-free. It also doesn’t get sticky while still providing your skin with some much-needed moisture.

A powder foundation might not be the first thing most people would reach for, but it’s a great option for really oily skin. If you have combination skin (both oily and dry) you should avoid this as a powder foundation doesn’t respond well to dry patches.

Described as “ultra-matte,” this foundation is great if you’re constantly applying setting powder throughout the day. A powder foundation is essentially a 2-in-1 because you don’t have to set it.

This product is of excellent quality and offers medium to full buildable coverage, which is not very common with powder foundations. Some powder foundations are almost setting powders with more coverage. However, this product gives you good coverage and prevents your skin from becoming too shiny.

advantages

Ultra matte finish

Buildable

Medium to full coverage

Disadvantages

Depending on how much you use, powder foundations can get cakey

MAC Studio Fix Powder Plus Foundation C4, Multi, 0.52 oz (JL69060225) Combines the benefits of a foundation.

Powder in one Provides full coverage.

Matte finish Conceals imperfections.

We’re all told that we need to wear more SPF, even on the grayest and rainiest of days. So foundation with SPF is a great way to add a little extra protection without adding another layer of cream under your makeup.

If you have oily skin, you need to keep the amount of creams and serums you use under your makeup to a minimum. At most, use a light moisturizer, a primer, and then your foundation.

If you put on an extra layer of sunscreen, your skin will become even more slippery and your foundation won’t sit properly.

SPF 30 isn’t the highest, but it offers a lot more protection than you’d find in most other foundations, so it’s a great way to streamline your routine.

Since this is described as an “ultra liquid” foundation that provides long-lasting hydration, you might want to avoid it at first. With oily skin, it can be tempting to choose the thickest and most drying foundation, but that’s not always a good idea. But even with oily skin you need moisture!

This foundation dries with an opaque matte finish and its long-wearing promise will keep you looking gorgeous all day long. Its sheer to medium coverage evens out your skin tone without becoming thick and sticky.

advantages

High SPF included

Matte finish

Disadvantages

Expensive

The MAC Studio Face and Body Foundation is one of, if not the most popular of all MAC foundations. It is also one of the most famous.

This is a lightweight foundation that offers sheer coverage. Lightweight foundations, especially those with a sheer finish, are typically avoided by people with oily skin as they are often very thin and runny. This can cause the foundation to become shiny and greasy throughout the day.

This foundation is described as “non-drying”, which many people with oily skin would suspect, but your skin still needs hydration. This foundation is also waterproof, which contributes to its claim of an 8-hour durability.

A disadvantage of this foundation is the small color palette. Most MAC foundations have a huge range of colors and deeper, warmer and darker shades really should be standard.

advantages

Easy

8 hours endurance

Not drying

Disadvantages

Small color palette

Only medium to light tones available, no warm or darker tones

If you’re looking for a foundation that sits on your face all day and won’t budge an inch, this could be the perfect choice for you. Because this foundation is waterproof, it has great staying power, allowing it to resist the slippage that oily skin usually causes.

This foundation is also oil-free and abrasion-resistant, so you don’t have to worry about it peeling off your clothes or your hands if you touch your face. This is a big problem for oily skin.

If the oil builds up under the foundation, it can cause it to move and become greasy and peel off easily. This is no problem with this foundation.

advantages

Waterproof

Transmission Resistant

Large color palette

oil free

Best Mac Foundation for Oily Skin – Buying Guide

cover

Your coverage preference will depend entirely on how much skin you’d like to show and how much you’d like to hide. Whether you want full coverage that hides every blemish or you just want a little something to make your skin look clearer, you have plenty of options.

Oily skin can lead to a large number of pimples, pimple scars, and large pores that you may want to cover up. However, be careful with thick, full-coverage foundation, as this can further clog your pores and make the problem worse.

primer

One of the best ways to ensure your foundation stays in place all day is to use a primer.

Foundations may seem like an unnecessary addition to your makeup routine, but they can create the perfect canvas for you to work on. Primers act almost like a barrier between your skin and your makeup. (You can also smooth out any large pores, which is a common skin texture associated with oiliness).

skin care

Skincare has been just as popular as makeup lately, and that’s wonderful. Your skin is an organ that needs to be cared for and kept healthy just like any other part of your body.

Skin care isn’t just for cosmetic or aesthetic reasons, it’s important to keep every inch of your body healthy and healthy. There are many skin care products that can help with oily skin, but there are also makeup products.

Since skincare has become so popular, more and more people are wearing less makeup, which is not good for the makeup industry.

As a result, there are now many foundations that are enriched with ingredients that are good for your skin, such as tea tree, hyaluronic acid and salicylic acid. This is a great way to combine your skincare and makeup routines, saving you tons of time and money in the long run.

Having a good skincare routine is important, but it doesn’t have to be overly complicated. The most important things to do for your skin is exfoliate and moisturize.

Of course, you should wash your face twice a day, but since salicylic acid is an exfoliant and hyaluronic acid locks in moisture, it’s easy to find makeup products that can do wonders for your skin.

But be careful, some acids react with each other, which can seriously damage your skin. Always read the instructions and do your research before combining products.

And remember, the absolute best skincare product is…water! Remember to stay hydrated to keep your body healthy and your skin clean!

Costs

MAC is a well-known, popular and high-quality brand. Because of this, MAC products are definitely at the higher end of the price scale. MAC foundations will always range from $30 to $50. This is their standard price, so they’re definitely a premium from drugstore fundamentals.

There are some lower priced products that can work well for oily skin, but at MAC you get what you pay for. MAC prices are designer prices.

With designer makeup brands, you often pay for the name, and to an extent that’s the case with MAC. But MAC products are expensive because they are of good quality and last a long time.

Some people buy MAC products just because of the name, but the vast majority are willing to pay the price for good quality.

If you’ve been trying for years to find a drugstore foundation that actually works well on your oily skin and are finally considering something more expensive, then MAC is a good place to start.

What is the best type of foundation for oily skin?

This depends on what type of coverage you want. Many lightweight foundations or skin tones are very thin and don’t sit well or last on oily skin.

On the other hand, heavier foundations will sink into your pores and clog them, making your makeup look sticky and too thick.

Try to find something matte that is still light and add concealer on top for blemishes.

What Causes Oily Skin?

Oily skin is the result of the sebum glands on the face producing too much sebum.

The oils your skin produces are actually great for your skin and hair. But when it produces too much, your skin can become oily and your pores can become clogged.

What is the difference between a matte and a dewy foundation?

A matte foundation provides a smooth finish with no shine.

A dewy foundation gives you a radiant and natural-looking glow.

Is foundation bad for your skin?

This is difficult. Ever since we started using makeup, we’ve all been told it’s terrible for your skin. It’s true that wearing a lot of makeup for a long time can clog pores and lead to breakouts.

But these days makeup is jumping on the skincare bandwagon and foundations are so much better than they used to be. We all know how uncomfortable and heavy heavy coverage foundation can be and the natural look is becoming more and more popular.

There are now many foundations that offer a full coverage look yet are lightweight and non-sticky to the touch. As mentioned above, there are also many new foundations that have great skincare products incorporated into them.

The best way to ensure your makeup doesn’t damage your skin is to cleanse your skin regularly. Use micellar water to remove your makeup as it absorbs more than most makeup removers, then use a gentle cleanser.

Is liquid foundation better than stick foundation?

Liquid foundation is much more hygienic because the contents of the bottle don’t directly touch the face. However, a plus of sticks is that they’re great for traveling and you won’t have to worry about glass breaking and foundation ruining everything in your bag.

10 Best Foundations (Reviews) for Asian Skin Tone

The stick foundation concept might seem quite scary, especially if you are a loyal liquid user. The truth is that some stick foundations can give off that cakey, theatrical makeup look that many of us try to avoid like the plague, so it’s important to do some research to find out which product gives the most natural look. Luckily, we’ve looked at some of the best stick foundations so you don’t have to!

Bobbi Brown Skin Foundation Stick: “Skin Foundation” is an apt name for this product, especially as this foundation actually mimics the texture of skin once applied. Instead of looking like you’re wearing heavy foundation, you look like you have a naturally flawless complexion.

Tom Ford Traceless Stick Foundation: When it comes to foundation, “traceless” is definitely an essential element. Get a seamless, hydrating finish that’s buildable with this stick. Whether you want sheer, medium or full coverage, you’re in good company.

Maybelline Fit Me Shine Free Foundation Stick: For lightweight coverage that also features a “shine-free” core to soak up excess oil during application, try this stick foundation. The core has multiple built-in powder particles for oil control, while the outer rim provides a soft foundation.

Similar to liquid foundation, stick foundation can be applied using a variety of methods (brush, sponge, finger). In fact, applying directly from the tube is not the ideal method of application as the lines become more visible and the finish appears much heavier. Instead, draw a few lines on the cheeks, forehead, chin, and nose, then blend them out with a brush or sponge.

In fact, the compactness of the stick foundation and its consistency allow it to also serve as a concealer. So if you need a little extra coverage under the eyes or want to hide imperfections, focus the pen a little more on those areas. The only downside to this is that some users may find the product too chalky. The above products definitely don’t exhibit that kind of nature, but we can’t say the same about other stick foundations.

Another thing to consider is that since stick foundations are applied directly to the skin, bacteria could be a big problem. Liquid foundation is much more hygienic because the contents of the bottle do not directly touch the face. One plus point of sticks though is that they are great for travel and you don’t have to worry about glass breaking and primer ruining everything in your bag.

While most liquid foundations come in a 1-ounce bottle, stick foundation is often 0.5 ounces or less, so this is something to consider when looking at price points.

Because when choosing between liquid and stick foundation, the best product is in the eye of the beholder. Different women have different skin types and different needs. So if you want something that’s quick and easy, we recommend sticking with it; However, if you prefer a more hygienic and lighter look, liquid may be best for you. We’d love to hear your thoughts on the stick vs liquid debate – which product do you prefer best and why? Please share in the comments!

Oily skin can be difficult to manage — especially when it comes to applying makeup to a shiny-looking complexion. The good news is that there are a few steps you can take to create an amazing makeup routine for oily skin that will ensure your look stays in place. So next time you’re ready to layer up your face for the day, keep these beauty tips in mind for oily skin.

Makeup tips for oily skin

If you want to finally banish shine from your makeup look, this is for you. Here are some makeup tips for oily skin.

1. Cleanse with micellar water

Start with a clean slate by cleansing your skin in the morning. L’Oréal Paris Micellar Cleansing Water Complete Cleanser Waterproof cleanses and mattifies using the power of tiny micelles (oil molecules) that act like a magnet to lift dirt, oil and residue away from the skin.

And the best part about using micellar water is that no rinsing is required. All you have to do is put some on a cotton pad and wipe the pad over your face.

2. Hydrate your complexion

Oily skin doesn’t give you a free pass to applying moisturizers. Moisturizing is equally important for all skin types, but it’s important to choose a moisturizer that’s formulated for you — like L’Oréal Paris Revitalift Triple Power Day Lotion SPF 30. This moisturizer contains ingredients like Hyaluronic Acid and Vitamin C to help to help create long-lasting moisture without added oil or shine.

3. Begin with the primer

If you have oily skin, you’ve probably experienced a midday makeup meltdown before. That’s why using a face primer before applying your foundation is a good idea. L’Oréal Paris Infallible Pro-Matte Lock Makeup Primer smoothes and conceals any imperfections and helps your makeup stay put all day. Apply the primer to your entire face or to specific areas (such as an oily T-zone) every morning after moisturizing. It has a matte finish, meaning it won’t make you look shiny.

4. Don’t forget the lids and lips

Don’t think of primer as a product useful only for your face — you can also use an eye makeup primer to prep your lids for makeup application. In a pinch, apply a dab of foundation or concealer to your lids before applying the eyeshadow. You can also use a lip primer before applying lipstick to create a smooth base and prevent wrinkles.

Is powder or foundation better for oily skin?

Because of its formula, powder foundation works best for oily, combination, acne-prone, and sensitive skin types. Powder foundation is a great option if you have oily skin because powder formulas absorb excess oil. It’s also less likely to clog pores than a liquid foundation which is good for acne-prone skin.

10 Best Foundations (Reviews) for Asian Skin Tone

With so many different types of foundations on the market today, it’s hard to know which one to choose.

If you are new to the makeup world, deciding between liquid foundation and powder foundation can be confusing.

Both types have their pros and cons, so which one do you choose? The answer depends on your skin type, the coverage you want, and the finish you want.

Liquid foundations have a thin formula that offers light to full coverage, while powder foundations have a dry formula that offers less coverage.

Pros and cons of liquid foundations

Liquid foundations are either water-based, silicone-based, or oil-based. Some liquid foundations, like BB creams, may also contain sunscreen.

They offer buildable light to full coverage with the ability to conceal blemishes with just one layer of foundation.

Liquid foundations are also suitable for all skin types, so there is something for everyone.

For example, people with oily skin look for liquid foundations with a matte or satin finish, like the matte and non-porous Maybelline Fit me Foundation.

Those with dry skin look for foundations that offer a dewy finish, like the Wet n Wild Photo Focus Dewy Foundation.

These foundations can contain moisturizing ingredients such as hyaluronic acid or glycerin. They give the skin a radiant appearance and do not settle into fine lines or wrinkles.

Liquid foundations are easy to blend on the skin. They can be applied with fingers, a kabuki brush, or a makeup sponge.

When using your hands, make sure they are clean. Start with a small amount of foundation and rub the product between your palms. Pat onto skin and rub while moving. Keep blending until you get a seamless look.

Applying a liquid foundation with a makeup sponge gives the skin the most natural look. Sponges soak up the excess product to keep the foundation from looking clumpy.

Brushes offer more coverage, but some of them tend to leave small streaks and lines on the skin. Be sure to use a small buffing brush and apply foundation in gentle circular motions to avoid streaks.

A light and hydrating liquid foundation can be the perfect foundation for winter as it helps to hydrate the skin on cold days.

Tinted moisturizers are one of those great liquid foundations to use in winter. For example, the NARS Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturizer Broad Spectrum SPF 30 has a creamy formula that hydrates and smoothes the skin.

Liquid foundations can make skin look very shiny and oily in summer. High-end or full-coverage drugstore foundations can also cause fine lines and wrinkles. When used with the wrong skin care product or foundation, a liquid foundation can come off and appear blotchy on the skin.

Pros and cons of powder foundations

Powder foundation is a dry formula that is finely ground and highly pigmented. It is intended to replace liquid foundation and gives the skin light to medium coverage.

While powder foundation can offer full coverage, it would take multiple coats to get there and give the skin a dry makeup look.

In general, a powder foundation is a good choice if you prefer light makeup and sheer to medium coverage.

It evens out skin tone and provides a natural look. It works great for getting a flawless result on the go, and it’s easier for touch-ups too.

PURE 4-in-1 pressed mineral powder foundation

Because of its formula, powder foundation is best suited for oily, combination, acne-prone and sensitive skin types.

Powder foundation is a great option if you have oily skin, as powder formulas absorb excess oil. It’s also less likely to clog pores than a liquid foundation, which is good for acne-prone skin.

Hence, it is the ideal foundation for summer as it helps fight the excess oils produced by the hot, humid climate.

Read more: Powder vs. Cream Foundation

Powder foundation is the ideal choice if you sweat easily. It holds up much better in hot temperatures than liquid foundation which tends to melt in hot weather.

Those with sensitive skin can benefit from a mineral powder foundation because it is low in ingredients and free of chemicals and preservatives that can irritate the skin.

Mineral foundations provide excellent coverage for imperfections and even out skin tone while feeling incredibly light on the skin.

Jane Iredale Pure Pressed Base Mineral Foundation

However, powder foundation is not recommended for people with dry skin as it tends to stick to dry patches.

There is a difference between a powder foundation and a finishing powder. The latter only serves to fix the makeup.

Finishing powders aren’t very pigmented and don’t offer coverage to the skin.

A powder foundation has a soft texture that can be either pressed or loose. It is available in both matte and luminous finishes.

Applying powder foundation with a dry sponge is the traditional technique used by many women.

The powder puff should be replaced at least once a month if used frequently, as bacteria can build up quickly and cause pimples. Not all powder foundations come with a quality powder puff, so make sure you get a good one.

You can also apply powder foundation with a kabuki brush. Dip your brush into the powder, then dust off any excess. Finally, massage the foundation into the skin with gentle, circular movements until the desired coverage is achieved.

Beginners may find applying powder with a brush difficult. It might take some practice to get there. The key is to start with a tiny amount of powder and add a layer as needed.

Tip: For a natural-looking complexion, spritz a little face mist onto your powder puff or buff brush before applying. We love this face mist. It is formulated with rose water for a fresh look.

Liquid foundation vs. powder foundation

The type of formula

The main difference between a liquid foundation and a powder foundation is the type of formula.

Liquid foundations have a thin formula that can be water-based or silicone-based. There are many different types of silicones used in foundations, but some of the most common are dimethicone, cyclomethicone, and cyclopentasiloxane.

Powder-based foundations are made with talc, a form of powder. Powder foundation, if applied too much, can settle into fine lines and wrinkles that accentuate the complexion.

The degree of coverage

Liquid foundations offer more coverage than powder foundations.

A liquid foundation can reduce the appearance of blemishes and imperfections with one coat of the product.

A powder foundation gives skin light and breathable coverage that looks like your skin but is better.

Although powder foundation can provide full coverage, multiple coats would be required to achieve this, giving the skin a cakey appearance.

The application

Makeup beginners will find that liquid foundation is easier to blend than powder foundation.

An incorrectly mixed powder foundation can result in an uneven distribution of pigments and create a blotchy appearance on the skin. This isn’t a big problem as it gets better with practice.

Because powder foundation is applied in multiple, light layers, applying makeup in the morning can take longer, especially if you want full coverage.

Liquid foundation can be easily applied with fingers, a kabuki brush or makeup sponge.

Applied with a make-up sponge, a liquid foundation gives the skin the most natural look. Sponges absorb excess product, which prevents foundation from looking cakey.

makeup sponges

The type of degree

Depending on the formula, liquid foundations can give skin a matte, satin, or dewy finish.

In terms of matte finishes, both powder and liquid foundations offer the opportunity, but powder foundations tend to win only slightly.

The packaging

The compact form of powder foundations makes them easy to travel with. Getting a flawless complexion on the go is possible with powder foundations as they work easier for touch-ups.

On the other hand, some loose powder products can be messy. If you want to add more after a few hours, you have to be careful.

Conclusion: when should you choose powder or liquid foundation?

When trying to decide whether to choose a liquid or powder foundation, there are a few important factors you can focus on:

your skin type

Powder foundation is best for people with oily or combination skin. Powder formulas absorb and help control excess oil, making them also perfect for use in hot weather when you want your face to look fresh all day!

For anyone who has dry skin, a liquid foundation is the best option. Powder foundations can often sink into fine lines and wrinkles that make you look older than you are.

Apart from that, there are many powder foundations that are suitable for mature skin. These powders offer thin formulas with moisturizing ingredients, making them easy to apply to the face without feeling heavy or sticky.

Powder and liquid foundations both have their pros and cons. If you are unsure, it is best to test different formulas until the perfect one works best for your skin type.

The desired coverage level

In general, powder foundation gives the skin a light and transparent to medium coverage. It can provide full coverage with multiple layers, giving the skin a cake-like appearance.

If you want breathable and natural coverage, opt for a powder foundation. If you want medium to full coverage, use a liquid foundation.

The type of degree

Those who prefer a matte finish will be more inclined towards a powder foundation with oil-absorbing ingredients.

If you prefer a dewy finish, you can achieve this look with either type of foundation, but it’s usually easier to achieve with a liquid formula.

How much time do you have

Powder foundations are the best when you’re in a hurry. It takes seconds to apply a thin layer of foundation with a powder puff. It evens out the skin tone and makes you look more well-groomed quickly.

10 Best Stick Foundations Available in India

Top 10 Best Stick Foundations Available In India For Oily, Combination And Dry Skin

So for today’s post I am going to talk about the best stick foundations available in India but high end, mid range and drug store range. Now I’m in love with stick foundations for their convenience, travel-friendly and compact packaging, and the fact that if it’s a good stick foundation, it can double as a concealer when times get tough. Stick foundations are perfect for oily to combination skin as they don’t move after setting. If you have dry skin, try very creamy stick foundations, but honestly, liquid foundations work best for dry skin. While oily and combination skin should try mousse or stick foundations.

Most of these are my tried and true as I used to be allergic to liquid foundations and have been through tons of them. Also, they don’t give you a lot of bulk with these, so you tend to run out pretty quickly. So let’s continue with the list of my top picks, shall we?

Difference between Stick Foundations and Liquid Foundations: Stick foundations are denser and don’t melt as easily in summer while liquid foundations can make your skin look oily. Sticks can also be used as concealers. They also tend to have better coverage than the liquid ones.

How do I apply a stick foundation? Simply dab this all over your face and blend with a good brush. Or rub a synthetic foundation brush on the stick, then apply to your face.

List of Top Ten Stick Foundations in India:

Drugstore assortment:

1. The Lotus Herbals Natural Blend Stick Foundation:

Price in India: Rs.345

Oh my God! This has to be my favorite drugstore stick foundation simply because the formula is divine! It blends like a dream, has a smooth texture and leaves such a dewy glow on skin with medium coverage that’s not very buildable. This is one of my favorites in winter due to the formula. A tip here: if the top of your stick foundation dries out in the winter, just rub on some moisturizer and blend it into the stick. It warms up the product and glides right on, giving you a much smoother application.

If you don’t like the dewy look and want it to be firmer and last longer, set it with loose powder as a compact powder will add too much crumbliness as the formula is pigmented and heavy as this is average, hence it can be difficult for very deep skin tones to find an exact match.

Price in India: Rs. 250

This isn’t marketed as a stick foundation per se, but as a concealer, but you can easily use it as a stick foundation. If you are light enough, a deeper shade can also serve as a cream contour, just a tip. The coverage of this BB stick isn’t nearly as good as Lotus Herbs, but it’s much gentler on skin, much more buildable, and lets your skin breathe a lot more. It is very easy to use and blends beautifully with your fingers and doesn’t even need a sponge or brush.

The finish is semi-matte and is a useful product even in summer. If you want to add some coverage and extend longevity I would recommend a good compact rather than a loose powder to set it in place. It suits most skin types but ends up accentuating dry patches – you be forewarned! However, the color palette is rather limited.

3. The Olivia Makeup Stick Foundation:

Price in India:Rs. 100-150

This was a surprise find on Flipkart. I was buying makeup and that was one of the freebies I got in my cart on a deal and hey! How does a Gujju say no to that? It was one of my favorite foundations for about a year before I ran out. The texture and formula is very similar to that of lotus herbs, although slightly drier. So ideal for oily and combination skin. However its longevity wasn’t as impressive as some of these other foundations considering the price and it only lasted about 3 hours ie until I discovered the miracle ie translucent powder. Then its lifespan is about as average as any other.

The color range is also very impressive and in fact it has the most shades available in their entire range of the 3 drugstore products. The coverage is also the highest of all 3 and overall, especially for the price, this product is a definite but surprising winner. One of the best budget stick foundations for oily skin.

Middle area:

Price in India: Rs. 675

This has long been one of my favorite colorbar products! The other is her nude lipstick. This stick foundation feels quite heavy on the first application but is flawless and easy to blend. The cover can be built up almost completely. The color palette is very impressive and almost everyone can find a match. What I love is that they are yellow based so the undertones suit MUCH better Indian skin. The finish is semi-matte but tends to melt a bit and become dewy throughout the day. To take care of it and keep it looking absolutely beautiful and non-porous, complete it with the L’Oreal Infallible compact because it looks absolutely divine! Best suited for dry skin.

5. Oriflame Dual Core Stick Foundation:

Price in India: Rs.650

I only promoted this twice before giving it away to my cousin. I got it from my salon back then and didn’t really like it. I have sensitive skin and this foundation made me break out a bit around my chin so it had to go. But other than that, the formula was smooth without being overly creamy. The coverage was medium, if not buildable, and the finish was absolutely beautiful. It was somewhat similar to the Maybelline stick, with the coverage boosted quite a bit. The color palette is limited to 5 or 6 in my opinion, but it covers almost everyone and has both yellow and pink undertones. However, the issue with this stick foundation is availability as I believe it is not that easily available from retailers anymore.

6. Natio Clever Stick with SPF 15:

Price in India: Rs.1050

ok ok I know it’s a little pricey and the amount of product doesn’t make up for it but believe me when I say it’s the best of all these stick foundations in India including the high end foundations. The texture of the foundation is buttery soft, the formula makes it look non-porous and glides on seamlessly, and the finish is that goddess-perfect skin-perfect with a hint of dew that makes you look like you’re glowing from within. The coverage is almost entirely buildable and the longevity lasts every workday once you set it up. I’ve hyperventilated enough about this now and I have to tell you one small downside about it. The availability of the stick is a bit of an issue as you can easily get it on nykaa and a few other websites but I have yet to see it in stores.

Price in India: Rs.800

This is also a bit pricey compared to the other makeup pens and only available in the Kryolan outlet stores, but it’s worth looking for! It’s not as formulaically as good as the Natio stick, but it kicks the Natio’s ass when it comes to longevity. The color choices are pretty cool too with lots of variations for different Indian skin tones and undertones. (Roughly 6 to 8 I think) The coverage of these two stick foundations is about the same and the formula is a bit drier compared to Natio. So ideal for oily skin. It’s still pretty amazing and definitely worth getting. After getting the Kryolan stick I took the Colorbar stick and personally I think they are about the same (I mean Kryolan is a little bit better but come on! Colorbar is cheaper!). But a word to the wise, lay that foundation.

8. MAC Studio Stick SPF 15 Foundation:

I bought it online years ago, had it shipped to the US, and had my relative smuggle it here. (AH! The fight is real!) So not sure if you can get it in MAC counters and retail stores. This foundation stick is the bomb! Still not as good as natio, but in the same range as kryolan and natio. There isn’t much to say about that. Coverage is good, staying power is very good, formula is pretty average, not as smooth as you would like.

High-quality :

9. Makeup Forever Ultra HD Stick Foundation:

I have yet to try this out personally, but I’ve heard so many people rave about this stick foundation that I had to mention it here. I don’t recommend you to buy it as I have yet to go to Delhi and get it. I recommend you check it out at your local Sephora in India, fall in love and live happily ever after.

10. Bobbi Brown Stick Foundation:

Again, I have yet to try this out personally, but again, I’ve only heard rave reviews about it and I personally don’t recommend you buy it, but I urge you to try it as it’s said to be one of the best foundation- Stick down there. As for me, I’m going to fly to Delhi and get one asap.

10 Best Foundations (Reviews) for Asian Skin Tone

A foundation will help cover any imperfections, blemishes, and dark spots on your skin. However, finding the best foundation for Asain skin tones is a real task. Asian skin tones are unique and native to this continent. We have cooler and warmer undertones with skin tones ranging from light to dark. Not only that, you also need to find one with a formula that glides on effortlessly, stays on the skin for a long time, melts in and offers a non-cakey finish.

With so many things to consider when looking for a foundation for Asian skin tones, it could be a challenge to land on the perfect foundation. To help you and to make things easier, we have compiled a list of the top 10 foundations for Asian skin tones. Check and grab them before it’s too late.

But first,

Let’s understand Asian skin tone

Considering that Asia is just the largest continent on this planet (geography 101, anyone?), it has to be said that the variety of different skin types found here is also amazing. Whether you’re just starting out in the world of makeup or you’re already a pro at it, here are a few things to consider before embarking on your search for your perfect match –

1. Undertones and complexion don’t always go hand in hand.

A rookie mistake most people make when buying foundation is to simply match the foundation to their skin tone. You would think that if foundation suits your skin, it must complement it too, right? Not correct. Light or dark or somewhere in between, you can wear warm or cool undertones to your skin. While those with cool undertones have a pink or blue hue, those with warm undertones wear yellow or olive hues against their skin. Most Asian women have strong yellow undertones but remember this is not the norm and you could be light with warm undertones or dark with cool undertones or vice versa.

2. Checking your undertone isn’t nuclear physics.

An easy way to check your undertone is to stand under a bright overhead light and check the color of the veins on your forearm. If your veins appear green, you have a warm undertone; if blue, then cool. If even this seems too difficult, just use a MAC NC color chart to know.

3. Finding the right foundation may not be a cakewalk.

Although you can correctly identify your complexion and undertone, sometimes stores don’t carry your specific shade of foundation. In this case, do not go for a lighter or darker shade as this will make your face look pasty white/crusty. Instead, mix two shades to get an intermediate shade that suits you better. If you feel like you don’t have enough experience to do it yourself, ask a friend or esthetician to help you.

How to Choose the Best Foundation for Asian Skin Tones – Important Tips

The most important thing to remember when shopping for the right foundation is to try it on yourself rather than blindly buying something online. Even if you feel like you’ve found the right match on the color chart, trial and error can give you a better understanding of how well the foundation feels on your skin and looks under different lighting conditions.

Always test the shade of foundation you have chosen on your jawline to see how seamlessly it blends with the rest of your skin. Avoid testing it on your forehead or cheek.

Blend the foundation into your skin and check under natural and artificial light conditions for best results. Again, do not buy shades darker or lighter than your actual color unless you want to look like a ghoul/pancake ghoul, in which case more power to you!

Here is our list of the 10 best foundations for Asian skin tone –

Best Foundations for Asian Skin

With its broad spectrum UVA/UVB protection with SPF 15, MAC Studio Fix Fluid Foundation is a modern foundation that gives you medium, buildable coverage for a natural matte finish. Easy to apply and blend, it’s the perfect long-wearing foundation that helps minimize the appearance of pores and imperfections to leave your skin with a smooth and flawless finish.

advantages

Absorbs oil for a great matte finish

Good coverage, easy to build up

oil free

Combined SPF

No breakouts

Disadvantages

May cause dryness if used alone

MAC Studio Fix Fluid SPF 15 Foundation Review

The MAC Studio Fix Fluid Foundation has been with us for years. Not really. If we had to lock up something from that age in a time capsule for our future generations, this foundation would definitely be on this list. As pioneers of the undertone color chart, they stock a wide range of foundation shades that have pretty much every woman on this planet covered, but if you still don’t make it onto this list, BLEND!

A no-fuss, no-fuss foundation, MAC Studio Foundation is a liquid foundation that gives you decent coverage so you can build it up quite well. The oil-absorbing formula of this foundation is a real blessing, especially for women with oily skin. It absorbs every little hint of oil from our skin, giving it a superb matte finish that we can’t help but touch. The only downside we had to think about is that women with dry skin might find this formulation a little too dry for their skin. However, you can always fix that by starting with some moisturizer before applying that liquid foundation. Yes, it really is that simple! 5 cherry red stars for this little genie.

Made with NARS Complexion Brightening Formula, NARS Sheer Matte Foundation is an oil-free matte finish foundation that offers buildable coverage to control oil and shine throughout the day. Use regularly for improved skin brightness, radiance and texture. Recommended for normal to oily skin types.

advantages

Minimizes discoloration

Takes a long time

The oil-free foundation with an oil-absorbing formula

Lightens the skin

Transparent, light foundation

Can be built up well

Disadvantages

Not suitable for people with dry skin

Missing SPF

A pump is missing to dose the product

Review of the NARS Sheer Matte Foundation

Right after the MAC Studio Fix Fluid Foundation comes the NARS Sheer Matte Foundation. Much like the MAC foundation in terms of build and coverage, NARS MAC is a step ahead when it comes to its oil control formula. We tested this foundation on ourselves and found that even after a full day in the sun (4-5 hours out) the foundation had excellent staying power and continued to keep the oiliness under control. Hi. What. do you want to marry me yet NARS claims that with regular wear, it helps improve complexion and skin texture. Now, while we haven’t used this foundation long enough to test that claim, we’re sure digging how good it looks and makes us feel. However, women with dry skin are advised to stay away from it as the oil control in their cases can become too strong and leave the skin looking flaky. Another small disadvantage for us was the lack of a sun protection factor. So if you choose this product, be sure to add a good sunscreen to your shopping cart as well.

Estee Lauder Double Wear SPF 10 Foundation feels so light and comfortable on the skin, you won’t believe it’s super long. Specially designed to give you a flawless and natural look, it withstands heat and humidity without changing color or peeling off your clothes!

advantages

No breakouts

Good coverage

Takes a long time

Combined SPF

Waterproof

Disadvantages

The glass bottle makes it difficult to carry

Requires a strong makeup remover to take off

Not recommended for women with dry skin

Estee Lauder Double Wear SPF 10 Foundation Review

There seems to be a broad market for women with normal to oily skin. And if you belong to this category, then here we have another great product for you. Estee Lauder has always been on our watch list for its moderately affordable products that hit our faces like a dream. As for the foundation itself, the Estee Lauder Double Wear SPF 10 Foundation is a super long-lasting product that beats both MAC and NARS in this category. If you’re a busy woman who doesn’t want to deal with the hassles of constant reapplication, the Estee Lauder Double Wear is your new best friend. Waterproof, abrasion resistant and with the good SPF, our only complaint with this little babe is that it doesn’t work very well on women with dry skin as it tends to look pancake-y. Also the glass bottle is a nuisance for the jet set woman as it is not very travel friendly. However, if these are cons that just got you rolling eyes, then make sure you get your hands on it, like our top pick for women with oily to combination skin. It will definitely stay with you longer than your boyfriend ever will!

The Laura Mercier Candleglow Soft Luminous Foundation is a unique formula with light-reflecting pigments that let your skin shine in its best light day and night. The added benefits of moisturizers give your skin a double boost of hydration all day long for a perfect dewy finish.

advantages

Not matte

Easy

Moisturizing and moisturizing

Recommended for women with dry skin

Disadvantages

Low coverage

Not recommended for women with oily skin

Laura Mercier Candleglow Soft Luminous Foundation review

Finally! A foundation designed with the needs of women with dry skin in mind. With an absolute lack of matting, which is a boon for women with dry skin, Laura Mercier Candleglow Soft Luminous Foundation is a lightweight, sheer foundation that has created the best dewy look we’ve seen. Although marketed as a medium coverage product, it is actually more of a sheer product that needs to be built up for medium coverage if that is what you are looking for. The moisturizing formula it contains has done a good job of keeping the skin hydrated and not like it was trapped in the Sahara Desert for the past century. Women with oily to combination skin, especially those with fading scars, are well advised to stay far, far away. But if you have normal to dry skin and are looking for that perfect dewy finish, our advice would be to hold on to this foundation and never let go.

The Advanced Real Moisture Liquid Foundation from beauty brand Touch In Sol is the perfect foundation for dry skin. It is lightweight yet intensely moisturizing. The formula is creamy and moisturizing, giving you flawless coverage in a single swipe.

advantages

paraben free

Vegan

No mineral oils

Ethanol free

Disadvantages

Contains additional fragrance

Not recommended for women with oily skin

Touch In Sol Advanced Real Moisture Liquid Foundation review

Touch In Sol Advanced Real Moisture Liquid Foundation is an excellent option for those with dry skin who don’t want to stress their skin with drying makeup. This foundation is recommended by beauty editors and makeup artists alike. We particularly liked how easy it was to use. All we had to do was apply a sufficient amount after the primer or makeup base and spread it evenly all over the face. A little dabbing finished the job flawlessly. The formula is surprisingly light for such an intensely moisturizing and creamy foundation. The liquid foundation comes in 5 shades that suit different skin tones perfectly, although we feel there is room for more accuracy and range in the shades available. As a basis, the performance is reasonably standard and delivers what it promises. You get buildable coverage that can help hide blemishes, bumps and redness. The foundation contains water-retaining technology that keeps moisture on the skin’s surface and prevents it from drying out. You also get three additional benefits – it acts as a sunscreen, brightens the complexion and prevents the appearance of wrinkles – protecting your skin from external aggressions. The 5-free formula is free from harmful chemicals such as parabens, mineral oils, ethanol, tar-based pigments and animal-based ingredients. Oily-skinned beauties would do well to stay away from this product as it is only recommended for dry skin.

Since its debut, Etude House has subtly but steadily gained a foothold in the global fashion market. As an Asian beauty brand, they understand the Asian beauty market better than most western competitors. Coming to their foundations, the Etude House Double lasting Foundation is a lightweight, water-based foundation that offers BRILLIANT coverage.

Review of the Etude House Double Lasting Foundation

We decided to test their claim of 24-hour power on ourselves and are happy to report that summer, humidity and sweat; Despite this, the foundation remained in existence for a long time without the need for a new application. Our only issue with this foundation was that sometime around noon the foundation started to oxidize giving the skin an ashen, tired look which definitely required some tinkering. But if you’re looking for a foundation that works for a specific duration, this is an affordable foundation that college students and working women alike can afford. However, remember that since this is a highly pigmented formula, if you want a soft, natural look, you absolutely must apply it with a light hand. If you overdo it, you might get a part in the next Rocky Horror Picture Show.

Maybelline Dream Urban Cover Foundation Makeup SPF 50 is a protective foundation makeup that gives a natural looking finish and protects the skin with a broad SPF 50 spectrum. It is a lightweight formula enriched with antioxidants to protect against pollution. It blends smoothly and provides even, flawless coverage.

advantages

Variety of shades

Suitable for all skin tones and textures

Dermatologically tested

Disadvantages

May not be suitable for sensitive skin

Contains fragrance

Maybelline Dream Urban Cover Foundation Makeup SPF 50 review

Maybelline is a trusted, highly popular American brand known for their wide range of skin care and body care products. This brand’s Dream Urban Cover Foundation is a lightweight formula that offers full coverage while looking naturally flawless on your skin. The range has a shade for every skin tone and texture, making it usable for everyone out there. The gentle formula blends effortlessly with fingertips, a makeup sponge or beauty sponge. We like its thin texture that allows the skin to breathe while keeping it hydrated. It doesn’t feel sticky, doesn’t accentuate fine lines or break out the skin. Overall, this product is a must have to meet all your skin needs.

The Maquillage Dramatic Powdery UV Foundation by Shiseido is a unique powder foundation made of mousse. Using a unique ‘mousse pressing’ process, the fluffy mousse of Beauty Essence water stick powder is transformed into a powder foundation that blends seamlessly into skin to cover visible pores and give you an even skin tone. The best “barely visible” natural finish to bring out your beautiful self.

advantages

Great coverage

Powder mousse formulation

Can be used by women of all skin types

no scent

Disadvantages

Must be operated with a light hand

Overdoing it can result in a caked look

Review of the Maquillage Dramatic Powdery UV Foundation

Another Japanese favorite, don’t let its looks fool you. The Shiseido Maquillage Dramatic Powdery UV Foundation is called a powder foundation, but actually works like a liquid foundation. With a truly stunning coverage, it can be used by women with dry or oily skin alike thanks to its mousse formulation that keeps the skin adequately hydrated at all times. Also ideal as a stand-alone product, i. H. without primer and/or concealer. The only flaw with this foundation is that there’s a very fine line between too much and too much, and it can go from perfect to overdone in a matter of seconds. Therefore, using it with a light hand is highly recommended.

3CE Glossing Waterful Foundation combines the virtues of foundation and moisturizer to give you a smooth product that leaves skin looking flawless and never sticky.

advantages

Pure foundation

Creamy liquid consistency

Glossy finish

Disadvantages

The severely limited color palette

Low coverage

Not travel friendly

3 Concept Eyes Glossing Waterful Foundation Rating

After all the waves that K-Pop has been making around the world, now is the time for K-Beauty to take to the global stage. 3CE is a Korean brand that manufactures a wide range of beauty products that are very popular in the local market. When you come to the 3CE Glossing Waterful Foundation itself, you’d do well to read the name again. It’s a glossy, super-watery foundation, and those who want it any other way better stay away. Most reviews of this offering from 3CE have been conflicting due to its low coverage that doesn’t hide blemishes, but we don’t think you can if you live in a cold country or are looking for a lightweight foundation for the winter months chosen a better product than this one. The foundation is extremely runny and goes on quite smoothly on the skin, although it hides pretty much nothing except to even out the skin a bit. Another thing we like about this product is that it makes a great glossy foundation for someone who wants to try a look other than dewy or matte but without the shimmer. The added benefits of the moisturizer are also a big plus. All in all a decent product provided you know what to expect when you pick it up.

Benefit Cosmetics Oxygen Wow Liquid Foundation Hello Flawless is an oil-free foundation that provides instant whitening and a natural finish. Combining the good qualities of Benefit Cosmetic’s exclusive Oxygen Wow Hydrating Complex, it moisturizes and promotes cellular respiration for a skin-replenishing effect that combats various environmental stressors. The vitamin C and E derivatives it contains are known to prevent signs of skin aging.

advantages

Contains sun protection factor

Oil-free primer

No breakouts

Dewy finish

Disadvantages

Does not take long

Not recommended for women with oily skin

Not transferable

“Hello Flawless” Oxygen Wow Liquid Foundation review

Benefit Cosmetics’ ‘Hello Flawless’ Oxygen Wow Liquid Foundation is sweet. A light to medium coverage formula, this liquid foundation is ideal for everyday wear, especially if you have dry to normal skin. While there are many better foundations out there, we think Hello Flawless is a decent bet because at this price point it gives good coverage without causing breakouts. The moisturizing factor and added SPF make it a good standalone product for women with dry skin as it gives it a great dewy finish. While not particularly recommended for women with oily to combination skin, if you must use it, make sure you use a good moisturizer or hydrating primer on your face before using this foundation. Since it is not transferable and does not last very long, we give it three and a half stars.

frequently asked Questions

Which foundation color is best for Asian skin?

Asian skin tones are unique and vary widely. Most Asian women have warm or yellow undertones, but this is not the rule. While those with cool undertones have a pink or blue hue on their skin, those with warm undertones wear yellow or olive tones against their skin.

So choose a foundation color that takes your specific skin tone and undertone into account. Also, always test the color on your jawline to see how seamlessly it blends with the rest of your skin.

Should the foundation be lighter or darker than your skin?

The foundation should be a shade lighter than your skin tone as it will blend with your contour and bronzer to match your skin tone.
