Either way, you’re probably running late, so you might as well call the AAA or your trusted Maryland auto repair shop to have your car towed and fixed asap. But before you do, check out these common reasons and solutions to your problem as you might be able to get back on the road even quicker!
Bad ignition switch
The purpose of the ignition switch is to send a signal to the battery to start the engine. Like any electrical component, the ignition switch can overheat and cause malfunctions. A faulty switch doesn’t behave as it normally would when you turn the key halfway. Monitor your dash lights to see if they’re turning on and off as intended. If the switch is faulty, the engine will keep turning while the lights stay off.
Dead battery
The battery in your vehicle supplies power to all electrical components such as the lights, radio, door locks and ignition.
