Sold! This makes so much sense: If they have makeshift ballistic weapons, AND the laser musket; a makeshift laser gun: Why not other makeshift energy-based weapons?!

A response to some of the comments below: The ammo capacity will be slightly improved in the next update, the improved magazine had an issue and didn't actually improve ammo capacity.
Also, the fusion core magazine has a damage penalty (otherwise it would be pretty OP) but I find that it is very viable in full auto (flamer and machine-gun versions), so you can basically spray and pray without reloading.

The fact that converting it to fusion core ammo decreases the damage makes absolutely no sense. That should increase the damage as fusion cores are capable of a hire energy output than fusion cells. Plus the fact that you have to reload for the flamer so often, these things just kill it for me. I'll pass unless someone ends up releasing a mod to adjust the damage and ammo capacity.
Made me feel familiar with Metro's weapons
i would love to see in the future a mod that expand melee a bit with a sword like a sword carved from wood that can be modded out with for example metal reinforcements or a sword made from scraps on later levels that is still visably just welded together and done by someone who got the idea but built a weapon like he had little to any skill or time and on later levels a forged sword that would be skillgully built maybe even salvaged from a museum and restored to be a battle ready and heat treated. why sword? well we have all other weapons and sword was very prominant becos eof it's large striking surface
