Looking at that Zelda sword reminds me of my experience. In Japan they have rule that you can't bring culture item of Japan or anything resembles a weapon to international flight. I bought an umbrella with a handle that resembles a katana handle and it got confiscated, or I actually could pay 6000 yen to get the permission. It was a 1000-yen umbrella. I'm glad my Jump magazine got through though.
I remember that when I was little I forgot no sharp objects but i got this beautiful scissor that I loved and I wanted to bring it back home but they deposited it with a bunch of other sharp stuff which I saw was mostly average scissors and I was so upset cause I couldn't keep the gem that came with it

Seriously though, a somewhat funny story. My grandpa fell off a ladder and had to get his whole foot replaced Not the funny part) with a bunch of nails, screws, and metal plates. We also happened to like to go to Disney World a lot. This paired with us living in Louisiana and flying there a lot meant every time we went through metal detectors, which was a lot, he would set it off because of his foot. Always was somewhat embarrassing but funny. He was a pretty goofy guy so he also made it funny.

I read an article about one way the TSA was tested and it was apparently very easy to pretend to be a TSA agent and simply walk around security like employees are allowed to do. The article was written soon after the post-9-11 changes were made.

two brazilian guys were on a TSA line in an aeroport in, I believe, Florida.
when the time came to check their bags, they both managed to screw up in weirdly similar ways.
the first one's bag was, well, full to bursting, so when TSA moved to open it, ya boy literally went "watch out. it might explode."
the second one's bag contained a bike tire pump. which in portuguese has the same name. of a bomb. we call it an "compressed air bomb". we also call the apparatus that extracts water from the ground a "bomb". essentially the verb "to pump" is the same as "to bomb", only with a slightly different ending to the conjugations.
so it was that ya second boy said to the bag inspector: "did you find my bomb?".
as the story goes, they had a bomb squad officer's knee on their neck before they could say "lost in translation" and spent a couple months in some prison somewhere in the us of a.

He makes a point as the TSA failed to stop both the Shoe Bomber and the Underwear Bomber as well as violate your privacy via screen body scanners. It's an even bigger waste of money to fund Air Marshals who haven't made a single arrest related to terrorism and were not there when actual terrorist struck.

I went on a plane with my baby a few years back and I had several bottles prefilled with powdered milk. I never noticed that it DID resemble drugs. Guy looks at it and says you're fine… honestly it could of been anything they never checked 😶

Even though there are way better ways of stopping a terrorist attack, I think TSA could still stop a few. Imagine there is a person who wants to commit an act of terrorism for some reason, and they are trying to think of how to get a weapon or explosives on a plane, but they can't think of a way to get through security, because they don't know about it's flaws. So they decide committing terrorism isn't worth it. The TSA could have prevented someone from becoming a terrorist just by existing.
