Carnival of Venice – Niccolò Paganini

Op. 10

Composed by Niccolò Paganini, based on what was at the time a popular Neapolitan folk tune called \”O Mamma, Mamma Cara\”. Its pieces like this that let us glimpse at the best of Paganini. As we do not have Paganini himself anymore, he lives on through the music he composed. With a great number of talented musicians attempting to interpret and record such music, it is moments like this that let us hear the voice of the man who solidified his name as the champion of violin.
Composed: Italy, 1829
Recorded: Suntory Hall, Tokyo, October 5, 2004
Violin: Vadim Repin
Piano: Nikolai Lugansky
