Mod AC7 to work at ultrawide resolutions.
What it does:
Determines the resolution of the user’s monitor(s). Creates a time-stamped backup of the game executable. This is NOT for redistribution! Hex edits the game executable to remove letterboxing (black side bars) and adjust the field of view (FOV). Compares the modified exe against the backup to determine successful hex editing. Unpacks 3Dmigoto into the game directory. Modifies the shader files for the correct position and resolution.
WARNING:
Due to the fact that this mod makes direct modification to the game executable, the game’s new anticheat system may flag you and get you permanently banned from online play. This developer holds no responsibility if this happens to you!
Prerequisites:
Python 3.5 or newer (Make sure you allow it to modify your Windows PATH environment variable upon installation) 3Dmigoto 1.3.16 or newer (You just need “3Dmigoto-1.3.*.zip”) Warning: The order of releases on the 3Dmigoto page is not completely chronological due to the way the file names are sorted, ensure that you are downloading the latest version by file name, not order in the list.
Installation:
Download a zip file of 3Dmigoto and save it to
\SteamApps\common\ACE COMBAT 7. Clone this repository to, or download a zip and unpack it in, \SteamApps\common\ACE COMBAT 7. Double magic.py click to run. Uninstallation:
Delete d3d11.dll from your game directory. Delete Ace7Game.exe from your game directory. “Verify integrity of game files” in Steam. This will re-download the most up-to-date executable.

Ace Combat 7, the unflappable JRPG disguised as a jet fighter game, had some dissatisfied pilots when it came out on PC last week. The trigger-happy fly ‘em up released without support for most joysticks or HOTAS controllers, which irritated folks. And other technical foibles also inevitably annoyed people. Well, there’s still no joy for the stick users. But there are some other small fixes, unofficial ones, courtesy of those rapscallions in modder squadron. One of these increases the draw distance to reduce pop-in, and the other adds support for those ultrawide monitors you never stop going on about.
First, the draw distance. I know how upset you get when you’re unable to see tiny trees 3km away. You can’t manually change this in-game, but you can alter it by doing some INI file tweaking, as explained by Steam user “Speedwagon”. They’ve done a comparison shot of the before and after, and yes, you can see many more pines and model houses. They’re model houses we’re blowing up, right? Nobody dies in this game. It’s a happy game.
Getting your ultrawide monitor to work is a bit more complicated. Modder “susahamat” has come up with a tool to get the game running on 21:9 or 32:9 monitors. But it also shunts the entire HUD to the left, making the whole thing somewhat unusable if your main joy is murdering in the sky. Luckily, another modder has come up with a fix for that, which itself involves more INI tinkering. Yes, it’s definitely a PC game. If you mess this up and end up firing missiles out of your afterburners don’t come crying to me.
Ultrawide or normalwide, this videogame is good. It’s dumb as a mudskipper, but just as likeable. There’s a space elevator, there are giant roboplanes, there’s an ace pilot with 14 names. At one point you are court-martialed and sent to a penal unit. Your job is to make a fake airbase look like a real one. The best way to do fake missions, reasons the warden, is to just do real missions with real planes. That way, it looks legit. Financially, I’m not sure this makes any sense. Militarily, however… No, sorry, militarily it also makes no sense. Anyway, read our Ace Combat 7 review if you want the full shakedown.
Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown
Any DirectInput joysticks/HOTAS devices can be configured by editing an INI file. This includes customized bindings for natively supported Thrustmaster joysticks as well as any other brand of DirectInput HOTAS (e.g. Logitech, Saitek, VKB, Virpil, Winwing). Launch the game with your joystick(s)/HOTAS device(s) connected and powered on, then exit the game. Go to the configuration file(s) location. Open Input.ini . Configure button and axis mappings for each device. Available axes are X, Y, Z, Rx, Ry, Rz, Slider1, Slider2. Buttons 1-32 are available via Button1..Button32. POV hat is available via POV_[UDLR]1. To invert an axis, add the suffix “:R” to the binding value. Important button bindings are: Flight_Gun=fire gun Flight_Missile=fire selected missile/special weapon Flight_Weapon=toggle missile/special weapon Flight_Target=change target Flight_Radar=toggle radar zoom Flight_Flare=dispense flares Flight_View=toggle camera Flight_AccelerationDeceleration=hold for high-g turn Flight_AutoPilot=hold to level aircraft Flight_Pause=pause
