@RobbyD – while in this case, the Aldur’s is an improvement on weapons available, it isn’t really a top end or terribly rare weapon, compared to some others.
That’s why I wouldn’t put in any decent jewels. One of mine has 2 Shaels and an Eth for some reason, but I guess I had a use for it once.
More leach is good, but I didn’t realise it already has good leach on it. In most cases with 2-3 sockets, Shaels if they bring you to a new breakpoint, Amn if it doesn’t have leach, PSkulls can also be useful to some extent, and an Eth rune if your hit chances are low.
For the very end-items, +35-40ED/IAS jewels, scintillating jewels of xx, etc, depending on the item.

Shaels would definitely help…Maybe you’re using it incorrectly…remember that the it’s the negative of the base speed showed at the Arreat Summit you have to use…Aldur’s is a Jagged Star (base 10 speed) so you have to enter -10 into the calculator…maybe that’s what’s causing the trouble. Also remember to use Mace (Mauls are faster than Maces from what I can see which is kind of weird)..Also remember to set the werewolf skill to lvl 20 or whatever level you have it at. I think you can safely forget the OIAS and SIAS columns…An unsocketed Aldur’s Rhytm would have a 12/7 Fury…slooow. With 2 Shael runes +40% WIAS, you would get to 9/5 which is more acceptable…another Shael +60% WIAS would reach 8/5, probably not worth it.For a werebear an unsocketed Aldur’s Rhytm would attack at 15 frames for Maul…With 2 Shaels +40% WIAS you’d attack at 9 frames, and another Shael +60% WIAS would attack at 8 frames… So it’s definitely worth it to socket Aldur’s with Shaels…and any other shifter druid weapon. Speed on the weapon itself is crucial for wereform attack speed. Maybe only 2 Shael runes and 1 Eth since the last Shael rune doesn’t really help…at least for a fury wolf, a bear would appreciate all the speed he can get.Good luck.To WinterMorana and Battlequeen: I’m sorry that you’re having trouble with “lovesick” guys but I must say that I find their patethicness very amusing…so much that I have to laugh out loudTo Stevep0520: I don’t think enhanced damage jewels would be avery good idea for an elementalist druid…Their attack rating is going to be very poor (unless you specifically go for a hybrid build) so the damage they will be able to cause isn’t in proportion with the added risk of getting close to the monsters. Even with the jewels/Ohm the damage is still going to be very low. If you have to go the physical damage rute then maybe some Eths and Crushing blow (Gore riders??), could be a cool option, especially against act bosses.

His “Watchtower” may refer to the (“Tower of Nature”) which is said to be the greatest of the Druid colleges.
Diablo II Item [ edit ]
Aldur’s Watchtower is a moderately good set in theory, but the high level requirement of 76 on the body armor prevents this set from being of much use. The damage on Aldur’s Rhythm is fairly good for its level (42), but it’s inadequate at best once you can wear the body armor.
A fairly strong weapon for its level, with Elemental damage, Life and Mana leech and a fair amount of Increased Attack Speed.

What to socket Aldur’s Rhythm with?
I found a 3 socket Aldur’s Rhythm during my game play last night, and it is a vast improvement over the weapon I was using.
I am running a Zeal Paladin, on closed Battle.net, at Nightmare difficulty Act 3, and I am hoping that it will help me up to Hell difficulty. Based on those threads from players using this weapon in Hell I feel like I’ve gotten a great weapon earlier than normal.
I read suggestions about adding 3 Shael runes to make the increased attack speed as high as possible, however, the calculator I found showed my number of attacks (Zeal) would increase from 4.16-4.46 for the 3 rune upgrade. Gaining 1 attack every 3 seconds doesn’t seem like a huge damage gain.
Others suggest adding Amn runes or 3 Perfect Skulls to bump the life/mana leech. At present potion guzzling is a bit of a problem, but I may only need to find one good armor to solve that problem for a while. This doesn’t seem like the worst choice, however the weapon does already have 10% Life Stolen Per Hit and 5% Mana Stolen Per Hit.
Other thoughts I’ve had include using Eth for the -25% to target defense, Mal for prevent heal, and perhaps Dol for 25% monster flee.
Given these circumstances, what are solid options that will be useful through the Nightmare Acts 4,5 and into Hell?

What to slot into Aldur’s Rhythm?
Aldur’s Rhythm isn’t such a rare weapon and I doubt you will make it past nightmare with it, so I wouldn’t insert anything of value, i.e. no HRs (which have a high level req BTW) or expensive jewels. If another 20/40/60% IAS makes you reach the next atack speed breakpoint, insert shael runes. If you don’t deal any cold damage from other sources (slows the target for some time), add a psapphire. I suggest to fill up the remaining sockets with ptopazes. You normally don’t have any problems with hitting monsters if you have a normal act 1 offensive merc, so I wouldn’t add an eth rune in that case. It already has enough life leech and you can easily have more from rings and belts, so don’t add an amn rune.These suggestions are just meant for a mid-level weapon. If you find e.g. a Runemaster later (unique 220-270 %ed axe with CBF and 3-5 sockets), don’t socket it like this, except perhaps for adding shael runes
