Putting is an art form. There are many different grips, a variety of postures, even where the golfer focuses their eyes changes from one golfer to another. There is no one mechanical way to get the ball in the hole. Since there are so many unique ways to putt, it is great to see putters just as unique as the golfers that use them. Bettinardi is the king of unique and different designs. The Queen B line has been one of my favorites since they were first introduced 4 years ago. While the line was designed for the lady golfer, many a men have gamed them too. The 2017 Queen B line is Beautiful. The new shapes are pieces of art. While any putter can roll the ball at the hole, why not look down at one that is beautiful??

Over the last few years, Bettinardi’s Queen B line has become known for putters that combine beauty and performance. This year’s Queen B #9 is no exception. Whether you’re looking for a showpiece or a gamer, this flat stick is a great choice.
Looks
To lead with anything other than the honeycomb milled face would be a mistake. While Bettinardi has been doing this milling for many years, in my opinion, no one in the industry has created anything that surpasses it for sheer beauty. The honeycomb face transforms a putter into something worthy of its own display case.
The overall shape of the Queen B #9 is unique and beautifully executed. It’s not another rounded, symmetrical mallet, nor is it another TPA XVIII clone – the Queen B #9 is its own thing entirely. The heel and toe are boxy enough to provide a little alignment help but curved enough to be smooth and appealing. Similarly, the size gives you a little confidence boost at address without being unwieldy.
The sole of the putter has some fun with the Queen B theme. A swarm of crowned bees fly across the sole, leading your eye to the cursive branding and the proudly displayed “Made in the USA.”
Sound & Feel
As you would expect from a putter milled out of carbon steel, the feel of the Queen B #9 is soft and satisfying. The impact sound can be either a “thud” or a soft “tock” depending on the type of ball you’re using.
What most impressed me about the Queen B #9 is the level of precision in the feedback. From an audio perspective, even the slightest mishits are noticeable. Though the putter is quite stable, mishits can be clearly felt in the hands as well.
Performance
The Queen B #9 was designed by Bettinardi as an offering for the player with the arcing stroke who still wants the stability of a mallet. As someone who fits that description to a T, I got along brilliantly with this flat stick. The half shaft offset and 45 degree toe hang worked very well for my stroke. I also found that the larger head and heavier weight (362 grams) provided more stability on mishits than I’m used to.
Lamkin provides the stock grip for the Bettinardi Queen B #9 – a white corded grip – and it’s offered in two sizes. I opted for the larger version because I really like the strong pistol shape in the butt of the grip. The difference in size between the standard and jumbo is substantial, so be sure to try both and get the one you feel more comfortable with.
Conclusion
Mid mallets are where great putter makers really separate themselves. There’s a lot of room to make something impressive, but there’s also a lot of room for mistakes. With the Queen B #9, Bettinardi created a putter that shows their mastery of the craft. This putter looks beautiful, feels great, and performs well on the greens.

Over the years our test team have put thousands of golf clubs through their paces but very rarely, does one ever have the effect the Queen Bee had on our test pro. The Bee’s top to tail beauty turned Ben all doe-eyed, warm and fussy inside and he struggled to find words to describe the Bee like a teenager stumbling over their words on a first date.
Every last detail has been thoroughly thought through and all three testers agreed golfers who have the cash to buy themselves into the Bettinardi table would surely want to go all out and bag themselves a trademark Bettinardi model (thanks to the distinctive face milling pattern) if they could. We love the honeycomb face pattern, Bettinardi says (at a microscopic level) it gives a more accurately cut face thanks to the mill moving up and down to create the face rather than sweeping across it.

Club Review: The Bettinardi Queen Bee #9 Putter
Putting is an art form and Bettinardi is the king of unique and different putter designs. You don’t see them in every high street golf store, and for very good reason.
You may be familiar with the Bettinardi name after a successful alliance with the Mizuno Golf Company from 2009 – 2012. The family then decided to branch off on their own re-creating Bettinardi Golf as an independent golf brand. It was in 2010 that Robert J Bettinardi re-created the BB Series which featured 5 classic head styles in a black chrome finish. The following year the Studio Stock and Signature Series of putters were created, adding new families and depth to the product line. In 2012 The Queen B line-up was born to provide golfers with heavier head styles in unique decorative finishes.
While the line was designed originally for the lady golfer, the line has evolved to appeal to both genders now. The 2017 Queen B range consists of two models the #8 and #9 with both beautifully milled putters.
The Queen B #9 was designed for the player who has a more broadly arcing stroke who prefers a rounded, flow neck mallet.
The 4:30 pm toe hang on the #9 suited my eye and putting stroke straight away. The high toe is also a very appealing look and the rounded mallet like flange is a slight departure from my normal, but I liked the idea of added alignment help. The short flow neck is also a nice touch. If you stripped this putter of all its finishing touches, the design is still pretty unique and yet very functional.
The sole is milled with Bees, the face is honeycomb micro milled and the B hex on the face with Bettinardi script in the cavity all create a most beautiful putter. The white Lamkin Corded putter grip and white hardcover give a luxurious look.
The Bettinardi Queen B #9 is more than just a beautiful putter and really gives the feeling of effortless distance control and created a really solid feel at impact while still delivers that soft roll off the face. The flange on this putter helps with a longer alignment line.
The feel of this soft carbon steel putter is as soft as any metal faced putter you will every roll. I’m normally an insert guy but still got a perfect soft feel from the face. The 362 gram weight is also a nice touch for a good balanced feel.
