How does Hakutaku work?
Little_Zardar 3 years ago #1 I can’t find much info about this googling so I figured I’d ask here. I have all the FFXI glams from Amenos and I kinda want the Optical Hat. It’s the old way of crafting the cluster from the 4 eyes then trading it somewhere which spawns the FATE.
What happens after that though? You need to get gold rating I read, but do you have to be close to the level of the FATE? Does the cluster get consumed when it spawns, or when you get the hat?
Also, I know we don’t know what is happening to Eureka in Shadowbringers, but do you think it’s a better idea to buy the eyes and do it now or wait till later? I don’t play games.
MMX377 3 years ago #2 Optical Hat: get all five Hakutaku Eyes from bunny chests and cold-warped lockboxes from mutations, craft a Hakutaku Eye Cluster, kill Hakutaku at gold rating. Hope RNG gives the drop. The Cluster is REQUIRED to get gold

espritduo 3 years ago #5 It’s not RNG. If you have the Hakutaku Cluster in your inventory and complete the FATE, you get a gold rating and the hat. There is no way to “lose” the cluster and nothing to trade. Hakutaku is spawned from killing the eye enemies around where it pops. If you do the fate without the cluster, you will only ever get a silver rating. I have the hat and can confirm this is exactly how it works. Like FFVI? A reward offered in a WG shout, to me, is nothing more than an attention grabber/enticement because we all know that it’s not the easiest of tasks trying to get a stranger to do something for nothing in our self-serving community. you’re not paying for the synth alone, you’re paying for the skill/gil it took that crafter to get to 88+.
You don’t “pay” per-se as much as you “tip” them for the synth. I normally tip around 20k for synth’s like this; however, keep in mind that a hakutaku cluster isn’t like a normal synth. It’s either make it, or critical fail, which means you lose ALL of the ingredients. ALL OF THEM!!
This is a risk you as the buyer takes when you choose to synth the item. As long as the synther has the required skill he is not responsile for loss at all. NO synth in the game is 100% I’ve failed level 3 synths as a 100 crafter; but I will say that if they have the skill, the chance of them breaking is extremely low.
I’d tip him/her 20k for the synth (as there is no HQ version) and walk away happy as i’m about 99% sure that you’ll have your cluster made np. just MAKE DAMN SURE that they HAVE the skill high enough already to make it. Clusters aren’t something that should be skilled up on. ^^
