However, I had a long time to find in menu how to do the IMU calibration.
So I made a video on how to do the IMU calibration.
If an error occurs:
IMU Error. Calibrate IMU
Gimbal cannot receive Main Controller data
Check the 8-pin plug that connects the damping plate and the aircraft. Ensure that none of the pins are loose. If the problem persists, contact DJI Support
and the camera gimbal does not respond to commands from the Remote Control, do not rush to grab the head and take the camera in search of broken pins/contacts — You just need to calibrate IMU.
To do the IMU calibration, install the inspire 1 on a flat, stable surface, click in the top right of the screen … to display the menu.
Click on the icon of the drone (at the top) and scroll down to the Advanced Settings.
Then click Sensors and click the IMU Calibration, and then twice OK on the two pop-up Windows.
Begin IMU calibration, which takes about 5 minutes, DO NOT MOVE THE INSPIRE 1 AND THE SURFACE ON WHICH IT STANDS DURING CALIBRATION!
After the IMU calibration, should disappear error: IMU Error and Gimbal cannot receive Main Controller data.

HI,
I recently replaced the outer shell on me P4 and when i tried to start it after the repair i received a gimbal cannot receive main controller data and compass error. Calibration required. When i try and calibrate the compass nothing happens and in the compass status screen it says compass disconnected.
I checked all the wired connections and everything seems to be connected securely and appropriately.
Hi i see live picture, I can control the gimbal with the remote and take photos. the gimbal is fairly responsive to changing positions with the drone and calibrates fine. If i shake the drone alot rapidly the gimble seem to fall off axis a bit and become less responsive to leveling out but the photo seems fine.
I can’t start the motors because every time i go to give the command to start them it brings me to the status screen.
I wonder if i had a bad firmware update or something.

This is obviously a very specific solution/suggestion as it’s coming from my DJI Mini2 drone- however as much as I (tremendously) appreciate the extra info over DJI’s typically cryptic errors, including such a specific suggestion implies at least some familiarity of the configuration with this drone. There IS no 8 pin plug coming from the gimbal on the Mini 2. There is a hall effect sensor which is part of a ribbon, there is another ribbon with way more than 8 pins (actually split from the main ribbon) and there is that flexible bundle of wires, which (you guessed it) is way more than 8 conductors. So further elaboration or clarification of this error would be very handy.

no I found them quite good, I also found them quite fair, you will most likely be without the drone for about 3 weeks but at least your drone will get repaired, and chances are that they will furnish you with another drone, It’s cheaper for them to furnish you with another drone rather than repairing it, this is what happened with the drones I sent to them, just go to them and they will send you a shipping label , it will end up in Texas and after receiving the drone they will advise you about the damages and cost of repair, then it’s all up to you what you decide, but as I said before they are very fair.

I recently upgraded the camera on my matrice 100 to the zenmuse z30 from the x5 I performed the latest firmware update (1.0.0.47). When I power on I am receiving the “error gimbal cannot receive mc data” and my gps is showing not connected. Also I am unable to pan tilt with the camera but I can zoom.
Any assistance will be greatly appreciated

Just had this happen to me and I thought I would share my experience. I turned on my P3A after a weekend of rest and got two errors. 1) Gimbal cannot receive MC data and 2) Calibrate Compass. Now I was indoors when I turn the P3A (Wanted to check something prior to going out) when this happened. First I thought something got detached, not sure why as I have not crashed it and it been protected. Checked firmware and such. The camera did show a live display. So I took it outside and calibrated the compass and everything was green.
tl;dr If indoors, go outside and calibrate the compass.
