Whisky and Whiskey (it depends on where it’s from) have been an important part of cultures around the world from time immemorial. Whiskey is a part of the very fabric of Western society, and in most places, is as common and accessible as beer.
Like Jazz and wine, snobs have predictably hijacked whiskey appreciation, spoiling our natural, common connection with it and creating a false dichotomy of “good whiskey” and “bad whiskey.”
It’s time to break through the emotional bias with facts and science. That’s what this school is about.
** The only valid definition of “good” whiskey is “whiskey you like to drink.”
Learning how to share your love of whiskey in a way that connects people to the history and the story has more to do with public speaking and storytelling than it does with facts and tests.
The best way to learn about whiskey and share that love is to drink whiskey and talk about it with friends. Study the history, find the stories, and discover the culture and the methods that have been developed over hundreds of years. That’s what you’ll do when you attend The Whisk(e)y Marketing School.
** You don’t need a marketing degree to learn how to share your love of whiskey with the world.

Golden Blue Sappirus Becomes First Korean Whisky Sold In The U.S.
For the first time ever, whisky from South Korea will be imported to the U.S.
Golden Blue, a Busan-based company founded in 2009, has started to ship over bottles of their Golden Blue Sappirus, a 36.5% ABV blend made from imported Scotch whiskeys, to retailers in California and Nevada, two states with large Korean-American populations. Sales will begin in February before distribution of the whisky will expand out to eight states, including Oregon, Texas, and New Mexico.
“Entering the U.S. market is moving one step closer to the globalization of K-alcohol drinks,” Golden Blue’s CEO Kim Dong-wook told the Korea Herald.
This move by Golden Blue was a long time coming. Apparently, Kim and his team spent three years researching the U.S. whiskey market before sending the first batch of bottles over. And it is likely a test case to see how well their product is received before exporting further releases to America.
Golden Blue has a number to choose from. In addition to their Golden Blue Sappirus, the company produces other blended whiskeys like their Golden Blue The Diamond and their Golden Blue Aged 22 Years as well as a variety of single malts.
Golden Blue’s website doesn’t offer official tasting notes about their Sappirus release, only noting that it features “a subtle fruit scent and a sweet yet smooth texture.” The tasting note from the 2020 International Wine Spirits Competition, which awarded Sappirus with a bronze metal, notes that is “well balanced and harmonious with herbal, dried fruit, and citrus flavors.”
The news of Golden Blue Sappirus arriving on shelves in the U.S. is also notable as it will be the eighth country that has welcomed in Korean whisky. Until this year, Golden Blue has only been available in various Asian nations, such as Cambodia, China, Vietnam, and Indonesia.
