If you bought a set of OEM Rock Sliders and don’t have the instructions to install them, this video is for you. Easy install if you do a few things right.
Bolts used are M10 flange bolts. You’ll need 16 of them. If you have to purchase, get 10mm, 1.5 pitch, 30mm length.
Things to look out for:
1. Brake cable on the drivers side (don’t pinch it).
2. Getting those old bolts out if you have nerf bars (use WD-40 on them).
3. Lining up the OEM rock sliders (have a friend help or use a jack or boxes to position them on).
4. Weld nuts that weren’t used with the nerf bars (They’ll have to be cleaned out. Two are covered by a label).
5. Some people will think the sliders came with the wrong bolts. That’s probably not the case. The weld nuts need to be cleaned out.
6. Tighten bolts to 36 ft. lbs.

Rocky Road’s H2 Rock Sliders are the creme’ de la creme’ of the rocker protection world. We use 3/16″ inner hitch steel to make sure your bars do NOT bend! Anything other than hitch steel is just plain flimsy.

Most other H2 rock sliders are made from thin 1/8″ wall tube material. Alot of shops refer to these as Nerf bars. an appropriate name since they will ofer about as much protection to your vehicle as a Nerf toy product would.
A good number of the H2 Rock Sliders we sell are to those who have actually bought these thinner bars and have bent them up. Take a look at the photo below for a great example of OUR vs. THEIRS. If you think the factory rock tubes are strong…. you ain’t seen nothing compared to the Rocky Road kit. Nothing on the market is stronger or safer for your Hummer.

Even slick looking dual round tube designs that appear to offer better protection are still only made from 1/8″ steel and will bend on a hard impact.
Our H2 Rock Slider have a very sleek rounded look about them as we use genuine inner hitch steel in their construction. Hitch steel is not only very strong, it also has a nice radius corner instead of a hard boxy look. Inner hitch steel is the stuff you use to plug into 2″ receiver hitches. Its sheer weight is astronomical as is its bending strength. Our shop press goes to 50 tons and we can’t even start to bend them. Do you think a scrawny little rock can hurt these things? Think again!

Our H2 Rock Sliders also feature our Super Slider design which is the second outer slider tube for extra protection from the side AND a great step for accessing roofracks and such. This tubing is made from 100% DOM and is strong beyond belief.
You’ll find our Hummer Rock Sliders very attractive and will blend in nicely with your stock flares, mudflaps, and moldings. We tuck them very tight to the body to minimize the possibility of getting hung up.

Best Rock Sliders for H2 Hummer
Pictured at right is an example of an engineering detail of the Rocky Road Rock Sliders kits over others on the market. This just helps demonstrates one of the many superior engineering points in our system. Notice the top picture at right is a Rocky Road rock slider kit. See the beveled edge? The nice 45* ramp which would slide up and over any rock or stump on the trail? Its takes more time and effort to manufacture the kits this way, but that’s all included with the Rocky Road kits. Click images for larger view. Now take a look at the lower picture at left. This is from a competitor. We have lower prices, yet they still cut their production costs by making the end a blunt square. Run that thing into a rock and you can clearly see the trouble you will face. Its a battering ram, not a rock slider. It could stop your vehicle cold or require you to bash away until something gives. Why would they build their kits with this engineering defect? Simple… its cheaper to manufacture with the flat end, so that’s what they go with. Also notice how much further down their kit hangs. Rocky Road kits tuck up tight! This is one easily observed engineering advantages the Rocky Road kit offers… but there are many more.
The extra slider tube up top on our kits also offers additional side protection on the trail and off the trail. One of our favorite uses of the Superslider is as a bash guard against other swinging doors in a parking. Imagine the dismay of the chump who just threw open his car door only to whack it on the solid steel of your Superslider. He just stuck a nice dent in the edge of his door, your toy still looks cherry!

Rock Sliders
Question for anyone that can provide me some info. The rock sliders on my 2006 H2 are starting to rust away. I had taken them off at one point and cleaned them up and repainted them but that only got me another 2 years. I see where some H2’s don’t have rock sliders on them so I was thinking of removing mine. My question is my chrome nerf bars mount to my rock sliders which then mount to the frame. Are there other nerf bars available that mount directly to the frame if the sliders are removed? Thanks in advance for any responses.
