The INFJ Ni-Ti Loop – What it Means and How to Cope

The INFJ Ni-Ti Loop – What it Means and How to Cope

As an INFJ have you ever felt exceptionally cold, critical, and detached from everything around you? Do you feel like you can’t get yourself out of analysis-paralysis or inward criticism? If so, then there’s a chance you’re experiencing a Ni-Ti “loop.” Why do these loops happen? How do you get out of them? Is there a way to avoid these? That’s what we’ll be exploring in today’s article.

Looping can be understood when you look at the way your own brain is wired. No matter what personality type you have, using all four of your primary cognitive functions is an essential part of staying mentally healthy. Whenever you bypass either your extroverted or introverted functions, you run the risk of getting into a “loop.” As an Introverted Intuitive type, you can be drawn to reclusiveness, solitude, and quiet. None of this is bad, but it can be taken too far. It can be all too easy for some INFJ to become solitary hermits, retreating into permanent reflection and circular analysis. This might sound pleasant for a time, but it’s not a healthy place to be long-term.

What is the Ni-Ti Loop?

The Ni-Ti loop occurs when an INFJ focuses primarily on their dominant intuition and tertiary thinking functions. When the INFJ retreats from the outer world and stops interacting with people or objects around them, they can get stuck in a loop and become uncharacteristically cold and withdrawn. I know this might seem inevitable during our current crisis, but there are actually ways to reach out to people even when you’re stuck in your house!

To understand the Ni-Ti loop, we need to take another look at the cognitive functions:

Introverted Intuition (Ni), the INFJ’s dominant function, is a perceiving function. It doesn’t make decisions or act in the outer world. Ni perceives numerous perspectives and ideas from a bird’s eye view of the world. While the INFJ may seem warm and empathetic, they can have a very detached viewpoint and perspective because of the way they “zoom-out” of the world and try to understand how everything is connected from a distance.

Ni absorbs information, perceives ideas, and tries to find patterns and links between them. Ni wants to know how everything is related. Extraverted Feeling (or “Fe” for short) is the INFJ’s auxiliary feeling function. This is what brings intuitive perceptions into a judgment or decision. Fe brings INFJ perceptions and empathy to life in the form of action in the outer world. Fe is what gives the INFJ their responsiveness to people’s emotions and needs.

The INFJ counselor combines Ni and Fe to understand and reach out to people and give them solutions for their problems.

The INFJ philosopher sees the big picture of humanity and uses Fe to channel that picture into words that will encourage empathy, compassion, and kindness.

The INFJ author uses Fe to bring their imaginative stories to life in a way that will connect with people. They use Fe to give their characters life and dimension and emotion and values.

When INFJs bypass Fe and go straight from Ni to Ti, they get caught in a cycle of perception and logical analysis that often leads nowhere.

What Does Introverted Thinking (Ti) Do?

Introverted Thinking categorizes and organizes logical thoughts and blueprints in the inner world. It creates an internal infrastructure of analysis points and principles that are constantly being refined by new data. Introverted Thinking combined with Introverted Intuition is not concerned with putting anything into the outer world or interacting externally. It seeks to absorb information, analyze, define, and categorize. It learns and analyzes for the sake of learning and analyzing. INFJs caught in the Ni-Ti loop can logically justify nearly any action they take, retreating from friends who need them, not finishing projects they promised to finish, shirking plans, or skipping important daily tasks. An INTP, ISTP, ENTP, or ESTP who use Ti use it effectively because they balance it with Ne or Se. The INFJ who uses Ni and Ti alone isn’t balancing it with any extraverted function.

When INFJs bypass Fe and go back and forth between Ni and Ti they can become cold, reclusive, critical, unproductive, and selfish.

The Reasons for the Ni-Ti Loop

The Ni-Ti loop can be a protective mechanism that the INFJ uses to defend themselves from the outer world. INFJs who have been hurt or abused by people may retreat into the Ni-Ti loop to avoid getting hurt again. INFJs who struggle with over-stimulation and high sensitivity may retreat into the Ni-Ti loop to protect themselves from burnout. Other INFJs simply don’t have enough opportunities to interact with the outside world; perhaps they’ve been sheltered, kept from people, or haven’t had the right opportunities to find friendship.

Is the Ni-Ti Loop Ever a Good Thing?

Any time a person stifles one of their primary cognitive functions, the result is almost always negative. INFJs who have looped for a long time or who struggle with looping may strengthen their Ti by relying on it more. However, because they have no outer-world balance for their perceptions, their intuition begins to feed their thinking process more and more outlandish and bizarre perceptions. They may become more and more detached from reality as they stifle their feeling function to perceive only impersonal, abstract data. Often, INFJs who are in a loop become conspiracy theorists, harsh critics, and highly eccentric and out of touch with what’s real.

Damages of Being in a Ni-Ti Loop:

– Lack of empathy and concern for others.

– Extreme procrastination.

– Loneliness and isolation.

– Inability to complete projects and tasks.

– Damage to friendships and relationships.

– Developing a feeling of imbalance or emptiness.

– Detachment from reality.

How to Get Out of the Loop:

The best way for an INFJ to get out of the Ni-Ti loop is to employ their auxiliary Extraverted Feeling (Fe) function. The good news is this is relatively easy for them to do because Fe comes naturally to them. Here are a few ways to use Fe to get out of a loop:

– Call a friend or family member on the phone.

– Write a letter to a friend or family member.

– Try to find random acts of kindness to complete

– Listen to emotionally rich music and sing along.

– Help out in a homeless shelter or an animal shelter.

– Talk to people about what you’re going through.

– Talk to people about what they are going through and listen well.

– Make a gift for someone you care about.

– Write poetry or a song and then say it or sing it out loud.

– Talk to a counselor or therapist.

Some INFJs try to rely on their inferior extraverted sensing (Se) to get out of a loop. This is NOT a good idea, because more often than not, this will lead to an INFJ “grip” stress reaction. INFJs who rely too heavily on Se can become overwhelmed with outer stimulation and can start behaving rashly and make impulsive, detrimental decisions. They may become indulgent, reckless, and lose their long-range focus and vision.

The INFJ who wants to escape a Ni-Ti loop must accept and nourish their need to care for people. They will find relief as they begin to reach out to people in the outer world, and as soon as they embrace their rich empathy again.

INFJ Ni-Ti Loop: What It Means and How to Break Free

For introverted personality types, going into their loop is when they turn inward to their introverted functions. This isn’t always a bad thing, and sometimes it occurs under stress as a means of helping the person navigate whatever challenges they are facing. At first it can cause them to turn towards parts of themselves they normally would not, applying pressure to a function which isn’t as natural for them. It can help the individual figure some things out they are struggling with, but if this goes on for too long it can certainly become unhealthy for them. When they get stuck in this loop for long periods of time, they definitely need a means of breaking free before it applied too much stress to their weaker functions and leaves them feeling emotionally exhausted.

When they are in their loop, instead of balancing their functions in a healthy combinations, the INFJs neglects their extraverted functions. They become hyper focused on their introverted functions, their Ni and Ti, and this becomes a loop of how they filter information and try to respond to things around them. For the INFJ this loop can be a self-perpetuating and endless cycle, and so it can become rather difficult for them to find the means of breaking free. The loop continues to feed on itself, as the INFJ becomes focused on theories and then searches for facts to back them up. It is important for them to connect with their extraverted functions in order to break out of this, especially their extraverted feeling.

INFJs Typically Rely On Extraverted Feeling

When the INFJ is not caught up in their loop, they use their introverted intuition (Ni) to come up with predictions and conclusions about the future. This is something which is often connected to their extraverted feeling and their desire to take care of those around them. INFJs spend a lot of time inside of their own thoughts, but they are also very connected to their loved ones. They want to make the people around them happy, and care about making a positive difference in the world around them. Being outside of this loop the INFJ is capable of using these functions in a healthy way, and this helps them to balance out their own inner world with the one around them. INFJs have rich inner minds and they do need plenty of time alone, but the thing which pulls them out of becoming trapped inside their thoughts is the fact that they care about connecting with others. They might need time to recharge but INFJs are drawn out of their internal space by the people they love and care for most. They want to have these connections and are happy when they get to share things with the people they love. INFJs are passionate about being able to make others happy, and so they are capable of getting outside of their own heads in order to do so.

The Ni-Ti Loop in INFJs

When the INFJ is inside of their loop their extraverted feeling (Fe) function becomes neglected entirely. This is when the INFJ finds themselves secluded from others, often intentionally alienating themselves from any interaction. They become so caught up in their introverted functions and don’t find the space or time to connect with the people they love most. They appear to be caught up inside of their inner minds in a somewhat tiresome and endless loop of thoughts. The INFJ uses their introverted intuition to come up with theories and future predictions, but their introverted thinking function will now start to search for facts which can back up these theories. This is something which seems to continue in an endless loop, while the INFJ keeps searching for facts which back up their Ni, and then ultimately the Ni continues to theorize those facts. They become so caught up in analyzing every little detail, to the point where they can overthink themselves into a chronic state of stress and doubt. Instead of filtering their Ni theories through their Fe, the INFJ begins to filter them straight through their Ti. This causes them to never feel truly satisfied with their conclusions, always feeling as if they can perfect them further in order to come to the absolutely perfect results. Of course this doesn’t actually give the INFJ the answers they are looking for, since they are overutilizing a function which they aren’t intended to use in this way. While INFJs to use their introverted thinking function to collect data and facts, when they use it in connection with their Ni and without their Fe, it becomes a mess of over-analyzing and often coming up with somewhat outlandish theories.

How to Escape the INFJ Loop

The most important thing to do when the INFJ is caught up in this loop, is to focus on the function which will break them out of it. Their extraverted feeling function is the key to finding a way free of this seemingly endless loop of internal thoughts. Instead of allowing themselves to become self-pitying and reclusive, the INFJ to needs to seek out other people. They need to focus on helping those around them and find ways of feeling that connection to their Fe. Their extraverted feeling is what makes the INFJ so compassionate and capable of empathy in a way which can be truly impressive. They care about making the people they love happy and will often go above and beyond to accomplish this. When the INFJ is in their loop they might need people who can break them free of this by invading that space they are trying to create. Simply asking them for help can be a start to this, by trying to tap into their Fe. Someone who knows the INFJ well and can connect with their sense of empathy can often help them to gain some clarity on the situation and what they need to do.

Understanding The INFJ Ni-Ti Loop and How to Cope With It

Support us by sharing on:

It’s common to hear an INFJ say that they don’t feel like themselves, that they’re stuck inside their heads, or that they just cannot get out of a toxic state.

This is a serious problem for INFJs who have developed the dreaded “Ni-Ti loop”

In this article, we will explore the INFJ Ni-Ti Loop, how it can affect an INFJ’s daily life, and finally, we’ll offer ways to cope with the loop and gain balance in your life.

What is The Ni Ti Loop?

The INFJ Ni-Ti Loop occurs when an INFJ uses their Ni (dominant function ) to gather information through recognizing patterns and their Ti (tertiary function) to logically analyze this information gathered and make decisions based on them.

By doing this they’re bypassing their Fe (auxiliary function), the one they naturally use to make judgments and going straight from Ni to Ti.

This causes the INFJ to fall into an internal loop of analyzing their intuition with no way of reaching a final decision.

What Causes The INFJ Ni-Ti Loop?

The INFJ Personality Type is one who is very focused on their inner world and their intuition since Ni is their dominant function but they’re also passionate about people and helping others since they have the extraverted feeling function as their auxiliary function.

Being introverts, INFJs tend to take short periods of time where they retreat to themselves away from other people as a way of minimizing over-stimulation and social burnout.

This is all too good until the INFJ’s solitude phase prolongs and they start analyzing their intuitive data using their Introverted Thinking instead of their Extraverted feeling function.

The INFJ in this case will Rely on their introverted functions ( Ni, Ti) in their solitude and neglect their extraverted functions(Fe, Se).

They’ll use their intuition to perceive countless ideas and perceptions and their thinking to internally organize these ideas and thought into logical and practical concepts just for the sake of analyzing. This process continuously repeats itself in the INFJ’s head leading them to fall into a loop of indecision.

What Does Ni-Ti loop Feel Like?

INFJs who reported that they went through the Ni-Ti Loop call it ‘The INFJ Depression Loop‘ since it causes them to feel even more isolated, hopeless, and lonely.

An INFJ in this state loses interest in helping anyone which makes them self-doubt themselves because they’re naturally empathetic. Even more, They’ll push people away and feel like they’re not good enough to accomplish anything.

They’ll overanalyze any idea that comes to mind and will feel stuck in their own heads fighting imaginary problems that can’t seem to have a solution.

INFJs stuck in the Ni-Ti loop will be detached from reality and the people around them. It can cause them to lose close relationships because they develop a feeling of emptiness. There’s just a void inside.

Procrastination is also a very common aspect of the Ni-Ti loop. INFJs will find any excuse possible to avoid finishing their project or achieving anything, which could make them feel even more guilty.

How to Break Free of the Ni-Ti loop?

INFJs can overcome this by recognizing that they’re stuck in their Ni-Ti loop and that it’s not a healthy way to live.

Identifying that their endless internal battle is caused by their Ti function stepping out of its place inline instead of the Fe function is a huge step to taking action to turn back to their balanced state.

The simple answer to breaking free of the introverted Ni-Ti loop is to use your extraverted feeling to drive your judgments more.

You can only do that by:

Going out of your way to include people back into your daily life. Engage with people and help them!

-Join a club or group that interests you

-Volunteer or donate your time to a cause you care about.

-Share your thoughts and feelings with someone you trust and who will listen.

-Look for opportunities to help others, even in small ways

-If you find yourself withdrawing, force yourself to do something that forces interacting with people. Don’t expect to feel like you used to before. You must force yourself first to get what you used to before.

-Remember your loved ones who are waiting for you to get out of this state, at least start by calling them and asking about how they’re doing. Make a promise to check on them later so you can hold yourself accountable. Can’t call? Just write them a text. That’s the least you can do for them.

-Go on social media and be positive and supportive to strangers if being around people you know is hard at first. There are a lot of wholesome groups online where you can offer your support behind the screens.

Doing these activities will eventually bring back your reliance on your Fe function because it’s your natural way of processing your intuitive perceptions.

If this state lasts for longer than a few months, you should seriously consider seeing a mental health professional for some guidance.

CONCLUSION

Lack of empathy, Procrastination, loneliness and social isolation are the symptoms of INFJs stuck in introverted Ni-Ti loop.

This loop can cause them to lose their close relationships, feel isolated and depressed. If you identify this loop in yourself, be proactive and push yourself to do something about it. anything no matter how small it seems can be beneficial.

Lastly, if you know someone who’s stuck in this unhealthy loop, Remember that the INFJs who are in this state are probably feeling lost, numb, alone, and isolated, and that’s why they push everyone away. It’s not personal, it’s not about you.

Be supportive and encouraging, provide them with an open ear to listen. Don’t try to solve their problems for them. That’s not your job. Listen and let them know you’re there for them.

The best thing you can do to help your INFJ friends stuck in this loop is to keep being a positive presence in their life.

Ni Ti Loop (3 things Need To Know)

In this article, we will look at what the Ni Ti Loop is and its negative effects in general. This article also explores effective ways to break free from the Ni Ti Loop.

What is the Ni Ti Loop?

The Ni Ti Loop is a loop an INFJ gets stuck in when they rely heavily on the dominant intuition and tertiary thinking functions. When an INFJ withdraws from the outside world and avoids communicating with individuals or things, they may get trapped in a cycle and become unusually cold and withdrawn.

As an INFJ, you feel awful in a Ni-Ti loop so you begin to exist inside your own mind, rejecting your thoughts and endlessly making new ones to reject, just to feel guilty about it. The Ni Ti Loop also feels like being stuck in a rut.

You can be inclined to secrecy, isolation, and solitude as an Introverted Intuitive. None of this is inherently bad, but it can be overdone. Some INFJs are prone to being isolated hermits, disappearing into constant contemplation and repetitive examination. This can sound appealing for a short period, but it is not a safe environment to be in for a long period of time.

The INFJ Functions

INFJ stands for Introversion, Intuition, Feeling, and Judging, and it is the most rare Myers Briggs personality type.

If we dig a little deeper, we can use the cognitive functions to describe an INFJ as someone who prefers to use the cognitive functions in this sequence:

Introverted Intuition

It’s their dominant first function, and it’s inward-looking. While this one is a little more difficult to describe, we might assume that it entails synthesising a large amount of data into a smaller amount of data, or even only one. It is mostly concerned with theories and ideas, and it is frequently concerned with futuristic planning.

Extraverted Feeling

This is their secondary function and it is used when INFJ interacts with the outside world; it is associated with recognising other people’s feelings, rather than relating them to one’s own feelings; they actually experience it. It’s what they commonly refer to as empathy which the capacity to perceive another person’s perspective or feelings without having ever felt them.

Introverted Thinking

It is internally oriented and involved with the rational arrangement of ideas and theories. Although it is commonly said that Ti is effective, Ti users categorise the contents of their mind using their own logic.

Extroverted Sensing

This is the least developed or inferior INFJ function. It is directed outwards, and is concerned with the sensory experience and how we communicate with our surroundings via our senses.

The Dreaded INFJ Ni Ti Loop

The Extraverted Feeling function is an essential function of the INFJ personality and it makes them who they really are i.e. the kind considerate empaths. However, when INFJs skip Fe and jump straight to Ni or Ti, they get stuck in a loop of thought and conceptual analysis which leads nowhere.

The Ni-Ti loop is a defensive tool used by INFJs to shield themselves from the cold unrelenting outside world. To avoid being wounded again, INFJs who have been hurt or abused by others can withdraw into the Ni-Ti loop.

To avoid burnout, INFJs who struggle with overstimulation and are highly sensitive persons can regress into the Ni-Ti loop. Others haven’t had enough chances to engage with the outside world whether they’ve been sheltered, alone, or haven’t had the best opportunities to make connections.

When they strangle their feeling function in effort to discern only impersonal, abstract details, they can become increasingly disconnected from truth. INFJs that are stuck in a loop often transform into eccentrics, conspiracy theorists and harsh critics and lose contact with reality.

The Negative Effects of Being Stuck in The Ni Ti Loop

Here are a few negative effects of the Ni Ti Loop that an INFJ may experience:

Inability to empathise with and care about others.

Procrastination to the maximum.

Alienation and loneliness

Inability to execute tasks and plans.

Partnerships and friendships are harmed.

Developing a sense of discord or emptiness.

Disconnect from reality.

How To Break Free Of The Ni Ti Loop?

Using their auxiliary Extraverted Feeling (Fe) feature is the perfect way for an INFJ to break free from the Ni-Ti loop. The great news is that since Fe comes easily to them, this is fairly simple for them to do.

Here are a few ways to break free from the Ni Ti Loop:

Let others know how you’re feeling.

Go out for a walk in nature.

Maintain a daily journal.

Meet up with your favorite people.

Ask people about their problems and pay attention to what they say.

Make a present for someone you love.

Write a poem or a tune, then read or sing it aloud.

Join a support group with like-minded individuals.

Get help with a therapist or a professional.

Make a phone call to a loved one.

Pen down a letter or confession to someone .

Do spontaneous acts of kindness.

Volunteer at an old home or a shelter for animals.

Focus on The Fe Function

When an INFJ is trapped in this loop, the most crucial part is to concentrate on the function that will help them take control. The trick to breaking free from this virtually limitless cycle of internal thinking is their extraverted feeling function. Rather than being a self-pitying recluse, the INFJ should search out other like-minded individuals and look for ways to reconnect with their Fe function.

They May Need a Gentle Nudge

The INFJ’s extraverted feeling function is what allows them to be extremely sensitive and full of empathy in such a powerful way. They really aim to make their loved ones happier, and they will always go all the way to do so. When the INFJ is stuck in their loop, they can need assistance from people who can help them break free by invading the zone they are attempting to make for themselves.

Ask The INFJ For Help

Merely asking for assistance and attempting to tap into their Fe may be a good first step. Someone who is familiar with the INFJ and can engage with their empathy can also assist them in gaining clarity about the condition and what they will have to do to get out of the rut.

Conclusion

In this article, we looked at what the Ni Ti Loop is and its negative effects in general. This article also explored effective ways to break free from the Ni Ti Loop.

Frequently Asked Questions: Ni Ti Loop

What is the NI TI loop? When an INFJ relies solely on their dominant intuition and tertiary thinking functions, they enter the Ni-Ti loop. When an INFJ withdraws from the outside world and avoids communicating with individuals or things, they may get trapped in a cycle and become colder than usual and disconnected. Can Infj be evil? INFJs are generally very morally guided and concerned with the equilibrium of their environment because of their auxillary Extraverted feeling. That isn’t to assume that an INFJ can’t be bad. Before behaving evilly against others, an INFJ is most likely to lock them out and forget about them. What is TI in Infj? Introverted Thinking (Ti) is a term used to describe how people think while they are alone. Ti is a decision-making function, much like Fe. ISTPs and INTPs are introverts that lead with Ti. We like to use our feeling feature to make decisions as INFJs. How do INFJs use TI? How Do INFJs Use Ti Extraverted Feeling (Fe) is the primary decision-making function for INFJs. As a consequence, they automatically absorb the emotions of those around them. As a result, INFJs work hard to ensure the happiness of those around them. Do I use Te or Ti? Ti is interested in the principles of how and why things function. Its final destination is where it leads. It looks for more exploratory logical answers. Te, on the other hand, is more successful than exploratory since it is focused on the end result. What does an unhealthy INFJ look like? The unhealthy INFJ is prone to becoming bitter towards others. They feel compelled to make people comfortable as a result of their auxiliary extraverted emotion, but they see this as a diversion from their purpose. They are prone to being resentful of the people they assist, and they are quickly distracted by interacting with them. How do you develop NI INFJ? Here are a few ways INFJs and INTJs can advance their Introverted Intuition:

Embrace your intuition.

Test your intuition.

Hang out with intuitive personality types.

Benefit from your intuition. What is the difference between Ne and Ni? In epistemological terminology, Ne is a type of divergent thinking pattern, while Ni is a type of convergent thinking pattern. Extroverted intuition stares at an atom and sees all the possibilities of the cosmos, which is my favourite metaphor for understanding the distinction between Introverted and Extroverted Intuition. Why are INFJs dangerous? It’s not always healthy to become a disconnected critic, particularly if an INFJ is stuck in a loop. INFJs will destroy their relationships and become too one-sided when they aren’t well, losing contact with their vital feeling function. INFJs aren’t all codependent, detached detractors, or potentially harmful. What is Fe in psychology? Extraverted Sensation (Fe) examines a wide range of human emotions. Its aim is to promote interpersonal harmony among individuals. Inner harmony is the subject of Introverted Feeling (Fi). Fi is intrapersonal, while Fe is concerned with interpersonal affairs. It focuses on the individual’s beliefs, desires, and emotions. Are INFJs intuitive? INFJs are well-known for their keen perceptions of people and circumstances. They gain these observations by using Introverted Intuition, which is their primary cognitive function. Using their auxiliary function, Extraverted Feeling, they are often acutely conscious of people’s feelings and moods.

Ni-Ti loop: the Rational INFJ

Ni-Ti Loop

Every personality type’s cognitive functions are set up to work in perfect harmony with one another. When our functions are all working together, our thought patterns become a picture of health.

But when one or two functions step out of their place in line, overshadowing the rest, our mind enters an imbalanced state. This can occur in many different ways depending on the individual, situation or life experiences affecting personal growth.

A common example of out-of-whack INFJ functions is the Ni-Ti loop. This loop occurs when our auxiliary extroverted Feeling (Fe) function is overshadowed by our tertiary introverted Thinking (Ti) process.

Instead of a healthy balance of introverted and extroverted functions, the INFJ becomes stuck in their introverted processes, keeping them trapped within their own mind in a seemingly endless loop of thought.

As our introverted iNtuition (Ni) ponders theories, concepts and possibilities, it feeds these ideas to our Ti which seeks facts and logic to back up and solidify these thoughts. As it obtains this information, it feeds it back to our Ni which creates even more theories and concepts.

Each time this loop goes full circle, the thoughts become more and more radical and outlandish, pushing us further from reality and deeper into our minds.

The worst part is that this cycle only perpetuates itself. The INFJ can begin to feel that they have too much to think about as their loop cycles endlessly, causing them to retreat and seek additional solitude and additional information, only making the entire process worse.

Derailing the Cycle

The longer an INFJ stays in the Ni-Ti loop, the harder it becomes to hop out of the cycle. Just like a muscle, the more we use a function, the stronger it becomes. So the longer we stay in the loop, the weaker our extroverted functions become, never being consciously exercised.

The best way to get out of the loop is to engage in something that gets your extroverted functions jump started. Since this loop can put you into a darker mental state, simply engaging your inferior extroverted Sensing (Se) function may push you deeper into the darkness, bringing out your ESTP Shadow and forcing you into a different kind of grip.

Instead, it is best to activate your extroverted Feeling (Fe) function which is more likely to bring you back to conscious awareness of the reality which surrounds you. The fastest way to engage this function is to interact with other individuals. Fe comes as second nature when an INFJ is speaking with others.

Speaking is important to note here. If you are not actively engaged in the external activity, you remain in your head and simply obtain additional data to feed your Ni-Ti loop. Speaking about any topic will jump start your Fe function, but to strengthen it, it is best be emotionally and intellectually involved in the conversation.

Talking about the theories your Ni-Ti loop has created is the fastest track to ceasing them. By simply stating them out loud, you immediately see them from a different perspective which offers clarity.

If speaking with another person is not a possibility, there are still other ways to engage your Fe function. Writing a letter to someone (even if there is never an intention to send it), working on a project where your actions affect other individuals, expressing yourself in art or music or any host of tasks which require you to step outside of your mind and focus on those around you.

Recognizing what is happening can help you seek ways to activate your Fe in order to cease it in its tracks as the biggest struggle of the loop is its ability to make us believe it is beneficial and even necessary to remain within the loop.

By engaging in these activities on a regular basis, you can prevent remaining stuck inside the Ni-Ti loop. Keeping your cognitive functions working in the order they were intended will help you achieve a more balanced life as an INFJ.
