Slippage Too High

Do you think this kind of behavior is indicative of a clutch failure? I just want a higher degree of confidence the clutch is the issue before I dump $4K into an aging car.

I have noticed the same issue with inconsistencies and I still believe to be a clutch issue. I think the tcu is continuous changing how much clutch pressure and distance it uses if one set of clutches isn’t grabbing. for example if the R,2,4,6 clutches are burnt when it come across them the clutch pressure and distance Increases until it grabs and holds. Then when you go into the other clutch set it decreases pressure because it senses those clutches grab much early in the pressure ramp up which can cause bucking like when someone is learning to drive stick or a stall when engaging 1st gear. If you were to sit there and let it buck the computer would back off the engagement distance and it would smooth out and learn. But then when you go back to say 2nd gear you get slip city again. Fluid temp also effects this and slipping a clutch will cause an dsg overheat very quickly. Hope this made sense.

AUDI Q5 (S-TRONIC 7) 0B5 JERKS AND SLAMS IN GEARS!

Hey Guys,

i have here an 0B5 gearbox fault accompanied by Jerks and Slams when selecting D with foot on Brakes ( blinking D then D1) and when selecting R it slams and stalls the engine on few occasions, i ran a scan on it and found :

HW 0B5 927 167 F

FAULT CODE:

8962 – Clutch 2 P17d7 – Pressure too High

Can anyone with similar issues help me troubleshoot?

also this happens on different temperature 40C then 65C then at 83C , it is not temperature influenced.

yes I have sorted this problem. After huge Problems with few services, mechanics and ECUtesting fail rebuild.Remove your mechatronic send it to ECUTESTING They will do full rebuild but tell them you will check what they will replace. I had to send it two times at the end they have replaced everything they can, but still wasn’t full rebuild. At the end me and my mechanic (friend) remove for 10th time’s probablythe mechatronic and had a good look at it there was two solenoids which are at the bottom completely same they wasn’t replaced, one of them is for the oil pressure if I’m not wrong. Remove them and have a look the pin inside is it in the Center? Find the part number google it and you can order them separate from gearbox specialist which in south coast they about £40.00 each I have replaced both and the problem was Fixedif you need more details please ask I will digging to find all part numbers and contact. If you near london you can come and we can have a look at it.apologies for any writing mistakes.

S-Tronic 0B5 mechatronic failure

Seven speed longitudinal Direct Shift Gearbox (DL501).

This S-Tronic transmission unit fitted to high performance Audi’s, with the 0B5 DL501 Direct Shift Gearbox (DSG), is a very common failing mechatronic control unit.

Internal component breakdown of the S-Tronic mechatronic control unit will cause a multitude of symptoms on the vehicle beginning with the illumination of the EPC (Electronic Power Control) and PRNDS warning lights. The running symptoms that a fault within this mechatronics unit will cause include limp home mode, harsh gear change and erratic gear selection. As the S-Tronic/0B5 gearbox mechatronics failure advances, these symptoms progress further into critical transmission failure: sticking in gear, deactivation of half of the gears, no reverse or gears above first.

When diagnosing the failure using scan tools you will find a myriad of fault codes relating to electrical valve faults, implausible signals and selectors not being regulated. All of which may clear but will return straight away or after a very short drive/attempt to drive.

Typically, when dealing with these Audi S-Tronic gearbox problems, main dealerships and specialists will seek to purchase an expensive replacement or repair kit direct from the manufacturer, which will also incur coding fees. The glaring problem with this method is that the manufacturer of this mechatronic control unit has not yet resolved the root cause of failure at factory level, meaning that all replacements and repair kit components still have the underlying defects that will cause malfunction, usually outside the short one-year manufacturer warranty.

We offer an enhanced remedy to get you back on the road: a fully re-engineered solution for all S-Tronic/0B5 mechatronic control units. Replacing common failing components with our own re-engineered versions, our mechatronic repair will outlast and outperform any original or replacement OEM part, so much so that we will provide an unlimited mile Lifetime Warranty for peace of mind. All of this within 2-3 working days
