If you have any issues feel free to reach out and I’ll try my best to help you out. by no means am I a pro though… T I P S – turn off edge smoothing in gameplay menu – mxao looks best when you hit ‘tab’ and zoom in all the way! – tested in different worlds and different lighting (looks best in day though) – turn off aDOF and/or MXAO for faster speeds – make sure that in global preprocessor definitions you have: RESHADE_DEPTH_INPUT_IS_REVERSED=0 *** – probably not gameplay friendly for slower computers – all of the shaders have hotkeys for ease of use! they’re kinda random tho edit: ADOF DOES NOT HAVE HOT KEY! Can flicker between looking more intense and less intense depending on the angle, and your camera mod, or whether you use one at all, but this seems to be a common issue with The Sims 4 and depth shaders in general. — I’ll keep this short, bc I’m completely new to Gshade, and I only ever use Reshade 2, but I thought I’d just mess around with it a little, and this preset is the result. Uses several shaders, so I attached some to keybinds for better ease of use ( especially for gameplay ). F6 – Bloom F7 – DoF & MXAO The bloom is super strong, I’m sorry, so if your sim is as white as a sheet, I can’t promise they won’t turn into a glow worm. REQUIRED This preset requires Gshade. RECOMMENDED I highly suggest using a lighting mod, I use Twinkle Toes, and No Blue. Thing is if I go to the Delta folder I can’t find the new folder for GP12 (which I do find outside the Delta folder). I don’t know if this is normal? I’m new to lighting mods, I also read your FAQ but I’m a bit at a loss right now 🙂 Thanks! Hey there! Yeah, EA does this sometimes and it’s not really clear why :/ For right now you can put them in the GP12 folder outside of your Delta folder, but after a few patches they’ll fix it and you’ll need to start putting it in Delta/GP12. I wanted to share some tips and resources for anyone (specifically Mac users) who don’t have/or want to use reshade or don’t have/or want to use photoshop. I am a Mac user and i have been bummed out that I can’t use reshade to make my screenies look nice without effort, but after searching up and learning from fellow simmers, I have gradually gotten better at editing my posts and making them look nice to my liking. This is not a tutorial but more of a resource and guide to help you out if you want to manipulate your photos to look like you use reshade, topaz clean etc. More info down below! Note: I do not use photoshop!I use Gimp. I don’t personally feel comfortable getting the cracked version of PS. GIMP is 100% free and a great alternative to PS. I recommend watching GuruGal on YouTube on how to use each tool! They’re really really helpful! another note: YOU DO NOT NEED GIMP, PHOTOSHOP, PROCREATE ETC ETC ETC TO POST YOUR SIM SCREENIES OR EDITS! Post whatever you want with or without editing. You do not need it! This resource/guide is all optional and for people who want to enhance their photos. Better screenshots Note: I used the built in Screenshot app in the iMac, you can find it in “utilities”, I have all my settings set to high/ultra and have edge smoothing on. I play on an imac! I just noticed for me at least, taking photos in game ruined the quality for me so I use my computer screenshot app instead. Stand still in CAS Backdrop by Helgatisha CAS poses/Poses by Helgatisha (They have a lot of model poses that I use, but you can check out @ts4-poses for more lighting mods (next topic) my own tip: Play around with your dimensions display (idk what its called but im p sure you know what i mean) my dimensions in game are 2926 x 1634 (windowed) I dont like my game being stretched out because it makes screenies look funky. Lighting mods & overrides Lighting mods will be your best friend if you dont have reshade! Here are the ones I use and recommend! I also recommend these overrides as well! Softerhaze’s Moonglow & Twinkle-toes affects outside lighting Luumia’s no Blu & no Blu 2 affects indoor lighting Simp4sims graphics rule override Amoebae’s Shadows for days Miiko’s studio Ghibli clouds override* just wanted to mention this one because it makes the clouds look pretty! NorthernSiberiaWinds CAS lighting mod Simplyanjuta CAS lighting mod Note: you can only have ONE CAS lighting mod in your game! I currently use northernsiberiawinds cas lighting mod. GIMP Curves GIMP Curves are essentially actions like in Photoshop, but for gimp! Note: you can do this yourself on gimp but if you’d like to have one there for you w/o doing the work, I recommend these! Timber curves by Smubuh *outdoor photos Gameplay curves by Smubuh *for gameplay Cake curves by Smubuh *indoor photos Magic curves by Smubuh Peppermint & Ginger’s Curves Procreate *optional Procreate is an app (for Apple) used for drawing, animating & design. I use procreate to add hair strands, highlight, shadows to my photos. You do not need procreate! You can do these things on gimp as well *I will add later in this post* this is just a step I do because its much easier for me to add details. I highly recommend this tutorial as well as their brush set! I follow all the steps from this tutorial to edit my *sim* photos I also recommend this tutorial too! *this one is more focused on shadows and highlight Basic editing tutorial by solstice sims GIMP down below I will be listing resources and tutorials! The first one listed is a masterlist of their GIMP tutorials~ GIMP tutorials by Smubuh *includes how to create hair strands “How I edit my screenshots” by Pearlescent sims zizi’s editing tutorial how to edit sim photos by Quinnciaga *highlighting and shadowing is shown in this tutorial Fake topaz clean wanted to add this too! how to: Dollhouse edit in GIMP last but not least, I highly recommend you check out GuruGal’s videos to get comfortable with GIMP’s tools if you are not familiar with them! my own tip: Use the Bloom effect in gimp! It really makes your pictures pop and have that glow to them! I hope these resources are helpful to you! If you want a tutorial on how I edit my photos, I will do a tutorial myself and add it to this! So let me know if you do want one! So I wouldn’t know what I need to match exactly and the options for CAS are limited in a way, although you can play around with certain parameters like the position and colours of the light sources.
Did you check if any of the lightings I shared before are usable for your purpose? For example “Spotlight” is very bright and true to the original colours. Or “Neutral Light” might be an option.
If you want to play around with the colour of the lighting(s) to match better the twinkle toes lighting, I shared a little tutorial here.
