The Growing Younger Gracefully (GYG) Spa Day Facial – You Can Do It at Home!
We are over 60 and have never experienced anything like this global pandemic. It’s all new to us, but tragedy is certainly not news. We have experienced our own personal chaos in our careers, families and now later years. And here we are. We are at home. We are sure. We are physically isolated.
There may be days when we stay in our pajamas or wear the same sweatshirts and tops day after day. Did you actually wash and style your hair today? Does anyone just wear nice clothes, makeup and earrings? We’re all a little (or more) stressed out by the virus, the worries, and the unknown.
However, we need to feel our best, physically, emotionally and spiritually. Let’s celebrate our personal well-being by treating ourselves to a special spa day… simply because we can. Do you have an hour or so? Let’s go!
Warm bath
Start your wellness day with a warm bath. Use Epsom salts, an essential oil, play soft music in the background, and don’t forget to light some candles.
Relaxing massage
Lie on your bed and massage every inch of your skin with GYG Organic Body Serum or your favorite body lotion.
facial cleansing
Wash your face gently with warm water and your cleanser. Then fill a bowl with steaming hot water, drape a towel over your head and place your face directly over the steam for 5 or 10 minutes.
face massage
Prepare a mixture to massage your face using a dab of cleanser and a good pinch of baking soda to exfoliate. Be gentle and when you’re done, rinse thoroughly.
Nourishing mask
Now mix up a mask from the kitchen and spread it gently all over your face, avoiding the eye area. Choose one of these options or create your own:
Apply plain mayonnaise
Mix the juice of half a lemon with a tablespoon of honey
Use a beaten egg
Mash 1 tablespoon milk with 1/4 ripe avocado
Mix together 1 teaspoon lemon juice, 1 tablespoon honey, 1 tablespoon yogurt, 1/4 teaspoon turmeric
Combine 1/2 ripe avocado, 1 teaspoon plain yogurt, 1 teaspoon honey
Mix together 2 tablespoons brown sugar and 2 tablespoons virgin coconut oil
Mix together 1 tablespoon of yogurt, 2 to 3 drops of lemon, and 1 teaspoon of honey to brighten and hydrate
Then… magic time! Put on soothing music, lie down and let your mask work for 20 minutes. Think of everything you are grateful for.
When the 20 minutes is up, rinse your face with warm water (never hot) to remove the mask, then with a splash of cold water and apply GYG Organic Face Serum (or your favorite moisturizer) with facial acupressure.
Hand and foot care
Rub your hands and feet with a pinch of sugar combined with cleansing oil. Rinse, pat dry and massage in with GYG Organic Body Serum or moisturizer. The effect is soft and silky skin!

Put on your favorite jewelry and clothes – earrings, shoes, scarf, dress, and enjoy the rest of your spa day with whatever makes you happy. We may not be able to go out, but we sure can stay inside!
