Call waiting has been around for years. With a call waiting feature, when you receive a phone call, you will hear a beep in your ear indicating someone else is calling. You can tap the flash button on your phone – if you know which it is – to answer the second call while holding the first.
Some people don’t use call waiting because it’s rude to both callers. Others don’t use it because they have no idea what the flash key is.
When a second call comes in on iPhone, the phone will ring (and/or vibrate) as usual, and the screen will display the caller’s name or number as usual. Buttons on the screen give you three choices:
To ignore . The incoming call is forwarded directly to voicemail. Your first caller has no idea anything happened.
Hold call + answer. This button gives you the traditional call waiting effect. You say to the first caller, “Can you wait a moment? I have another call.” The iPhone puts you on hold and you connect to the second caller. At this point, you can toggle between the two calls or merge them into a conference call as described in Add Call (Conference Call).
End call + accept. Tapping this button hangs up the first call and answers the second.
If call waiting seems a bit annoying overall, you can turn it off; Phone. When call waiting is disabled, incoming calls go straight to voicemail…

Why your Samsung phone won’t ring for incoming calls
Muted calls doesn’t necessarily mean you have a big problem with your phone. There are various reasons why your Android phone won’t ring when someone calls, including:
Your ringer volume is turned down.
Your phone is in Do Not Disturb or Airplane mode.
You have activated call forwarding.
Your phone is paired with Bluetooth®.
There is a problem with a third-party ringtone.
The speaker connector is clogged.
Your phone is infected with malware.
Your phone is physically damaged.

First, look at your device and look for any damage like dents or cracks – this could be a sign that your phone may need to be replaced, but we’ll wait until we’ve tried a few other fixes. Next, check the speaker connector for dust or dirt, which you can easily remove by blowing it off or cleaning it with a cotton swab dipped in a drop of rubbing alcohol.
Restart your phone
Whether it’s a Samsung not ringing or any other Android device, try restarting your phone for a quick and easy fix.
Samsung phones:
Press and hold the power button until you see the power off prompt. Tap Restart, then tap Restart again to confirm.
Other Android phones:
Press and hold the power button until you see the options menu. Tap Restart.

If a simple restart doesn’t work, it could be a problem with your ringer volume, especially if you’re still listening to other media like music or videos. To check your volume settings:
Samsung:
Open settings. Tap Sound & Vibration. Tap Volume. Drag the ringtone bar to the right to increase the volume.
Other Android:
Open settings. Tap Sound & vibration. Drag the ring and notification volume to the right to increase it.
Turn off silent or do not disturb mode
You can temporarily silence your ringtone and pings from texts with Silent or Do Not Disturb mode. Once you enable this feature, you need to turn it off to get your phone to ring again.
Samsung:
Swipe down from the top of the screen to open the quick settings panel. Tap the Do Not Disturb icon to turn it off (it should be greyed out when off and blue when on).
Other Android:
Open settings. Tap Notifications > Do Not Disturb. Check if the setting is disabled. If it doesn’t, tap the Deactivate Now button. Check schedule settings and other settings to make sure they won’t be activated later.
Make sure Airplane mode is turned off
If you put your device on airplane mode during a flight and forgot to turn it off upon landing, your phone won’t ring. How to turn it off:
Samsung:
With your device unlocked, swipe down from the top of the screen to open quick settings and check if Airplane mode is on. If that’s the case, tap Airplane mode to turn it off (it should be greyed out if it’s off).
Other Android:

Make sure call forwarding is not enabled
Samsung phones include a call forwarding option in the Settings app. You might even have it enabled to record voicemails by using a third-party app like Google Voice.
How to check if call forwarding is enabled on your device.
Open the Phone app. Tap on the three vertical dots in the top right corner. Tap Settings > Additional Services > Call Forwarding. If a phone number is listed under Always forward, tap Always forward, then tap Turn off.
If call forwarding options are enabled, turn them off.
Check Bluetooth
If you have paired your Android phone with headphones or earbuds and are not using them, you will not hear your phone ring. To disable Bluetooth pairing:
Samsung:
Open Settings > Connections > Bluetooth. Tap the three vertical dots in the top-right corner, then tap Advanced > Block pairing requests.
Other Android:
Swipe down from the top of the screen to open quick settings and tap Bluetooth to turn it off.
Remove third party ringtones
Third-party ringtones sometimes contain a software bug that can cause your phone not to ring. If you downloaded one, that could be the problem. As much as you love the sound of a duck quacking when your mom calls, try going back to a default ringtone on your phone. This is how it works on most Android devices:
Open the Settings app. Choose Tone or Tones and vibration. Tap Ringtone or Ringtone. Select one of the preloaded ringtones – you may need to press OK or Save.
Perform a factory reset
If you have gone through all these options and your Samsung Galaxy or other Android phone still does not ring, try performing a factory reset to restore your device to its original factory settings.
Make sure to back up your device before you start so you don’t lose any data. Read this article and follow the recommended steps.
If you’ve tried these steps and still need a little help, we’re right around the corner. uBreakiFix® by Asurion is a Samsung Authorized Repair Provider – schedule a repair at your nearest store and our experts can get your device back up and running the same day.
How can you tell if someone is busy on another call?
How to Know Someone is Busy on Another call? While it is pretty simple that in order to know when someone is busy on another call, you simply pick your phone and dial! In fact, on Whatsapp, as soon as you connect a call, user busy is displayed as a clear message in-app itself.
What does it mean when you call someone and it says call waiting?
Technology has made everything faster and perhaps a bit more convenient. Social media, online calling apps, and trackers have all come together to give smartphone users access to features that seemed unthinkable a decade ago. With the leaps in the way data works, the demands on the technology have also increased exponentially. Search online and you will find users looking for answers to things such as: B. How to know the number is busy without calling.
How do you know someone is busy on another call?
While it’s pretty simple, you just pick up your phone and dial to know when someone is busy on another call! In fact, with Whatsapp, as soon as you connect a call, the user is engaged as a clear message in the app itself. However, if the person isn’t busy elsewhere during the call, you’ll see “Ringing” on the screen.
However, with third-party apps like Truecaller, you can simply enter a valid number to check if it’s busy. When you enter a number, you’ll see a red busy icon next to it. Therefore, it’s an easy way to know someone is busy without even having to call that number. This answers the popular question, “How do I know the number is busy without calling?”
However, the main concerns with Truecaller are its intrusive feature and privacy concerns that users have had over time. However, it is mostly accurate at recognizing names associated with specific numbers.
You must accept entering your number into an app that allows users to view details. However, disabling Truecaller will erase your data and no one will be able to trace your details about your number if you don’t have an account.
However, don’t confuse this with ringing and calling features in the SMS app. Calling appears on the screen when you try to call someone but there is no internet connection. The ringing indicates that the call went through.
But despite all the encryption, WhatsApp can trace calls and SMS via source code. On the other hand, this is not as easy or as widely accessible as you might imagine.
Get out of the blockade
An interesting feature of WhatsApp is that after deleting and reinstalling the app on your existing number, you will automatically be unblocked on another user’s list. Even if the latter blocked your number, reinstalling WhatsApp will fix it.
While people are worried about whether so many apps actually compromise privacy, there are a lot of users looking for newer means of finding out how to know the number is busy without calling.

How cell phones are hacked
– Researchers have discovered that criminals can steal a phone’s PIN by tracking the phone’s movement. In a research report published in April 2017, cyber experts at New Castle University in the United Kingdom had shown that it was possible to “crack four-digit PINs with 70% accuracy on the first try – 100% on the fifth try – just by using the data collected via the phone’s numerous internal sensors.”
dr Maryam Mehrnezhad, a research fellow at the School of Computing Science and the paper’s lead author, had said: “Most smartphones, tablets and other wearables are now equipped with a variety of sensors, from the well-known GPS, camera and microphone to instruments like the gyroscope , proximity, NFC and rotation sensors and accelerometers. However, because mobile apps and websites don’t need to ask for permission to access most of them, malicious programs can secretly “listen” to your sensor data and use it to discover a variety of sensitive information about you, such as: B. Phone call times, physical activity, and even your touch actions, PINs, and passwords.
“More worryingly, we have found with some browsers that if you open a page on your phone or tablet that hosts one of these malicious codes and then, for example, open your online banking account without closing the previous tab, These can be spied on every personal detail that you enter. And worse, in some cases they can even spy on you if you don’t close them completely when your phone is locked.”
– The hacker can change your device passwords and access confidential business and personal data. They can install malicious code on the phone that allows them to read your messages, access personal photos, and even turn on the microphone.
– Several unverified apps in PlayStore can be an easy channel for malware. Several apps use big contract terms to sneak into your phone by giving permission to access.
– A hacked phone can become part of a network of computers involved in cryptocurrency mining.
So you know who is tracking your phone
You can instantly check if your phone has been compromised or if your calls, messages, etc. have been forwarded without your knowledge. All you have to do is dial a few USSD codes – ##002#, *#21# and *#62# from your phone’s dialer.
Watch this Zee Business explainer video
##002# – If your voice call, data call or SMS call was forwarded, dialing this USSD code will delete them.
*#21# – By dialing this USSD code you will find out whether your calls have been diverted to another location or not.
*#62# – This allows you to determine if any of your calls – voice, data, fax, SMS, etc. – have been forwarded or diverted without your knowledge.
Needless to say, after preventing your phone from being tracked by hackers, you can rest easy.

Why is my phone busy when someone calls?
The most common reasons are the flight mode, call barring, call forwarding or call auto-reject.
What does it mean when you call someone and it says call waiting?
The way we solved the incoming call busy problem with the “un-smartphones” we’ve used in the past is of course different from the way we’re doing it now on our Android and iPhone solve. Once you have determined that you have a problem here, it’s pretty easy to solve it on your smart device.
How do I know I have the busy on incoming calls issue?
You may never know about your incoming call busy problem until you hear from friends about how they tried to reach you but couldn’t get through. You might ask why your phone is busy when someone calls, or ask the question “call forwarding” – why are your calls always forwarded?
In some cases, you might get missed call messages from a specific number that the person didn’t even know the call went through.
This is not a good event for either personal or business relationships. Imagine the opportunities you could miss just because you were unavailable. What about the misunderstandings that could result from friends believing you blocked their calls on purpose or that you denied them the call?
So how can we fix it?
It’s actually quite easy to fix. The most common reasons are Airplane Mode, Call Blocking, Call Forwarding or Auto Reject.
1. Check Airplane or Airplane mode on Android and iPhone
These steps work the same way for both iPhone and Android phones
Go to your notification panel. To get here, all you have to do is swipe your screen down.
To get here, all you have to do is swipe your screen down. Look for flight/airplane/flight mode. If it’s blue, it’s on. Turn it off .
If it shows blue color then it is on. . After that, try to call your phone from another device.
If the problem persists, you need to confirm that call barring is not on.
2. Turn off call barring
If you have call barring enabled on your phone, you must first disable it before this issue can be resolved. On your iPhone;
Go to Settings on your device.
on your device. Click Calls > Check for Call Blocking > Turn Off.
Depending on the brand of your phone, you may still need to tap Additional Settings to find Call Blocking.
How to turn off call barring on your Android device
From the menu under your apps, tap the call icon.
under your apps in the menu. Tap the three vertical dots next to the search bar for more options > tap Settings > tap Calling Accounts. All your networks will be listed here.
three vertical dots next to the search bar to show you > tap > tap . All your networks will be listed here. Tap on the network with the incoming call busy problem > Select call barring > Make sure all call barring options are disabled.
with the incoming call busy problem > select > make sure all call barring options are on . To be doubly sure. Click Disable All, enter your sim password and disable all call blocks.
3. Turn off call forwarding
If the first two options don’t fix the problem, the next thing to check is if you don’t have call forwarding enabled. Some people turn it on while in a meeting or busy on their phones and forget to turn it off again.
Go to Settings > Click Call Settings > Click Call Forwarding.
> Click > Click . Tap Turn off all call forwarding or Turn off all call forwarding. Whichever of the two options your phone displays should do the trick.
For some Android phones, your phone may not have call settings in settings. In this case, follow the steps below.
Tap the call icon as if you want to make a call.
, as if you want to make a phone call. Tap the three vertical dots next to your search bar to see more options > Tap Settings > Tap Calling Accounts.
> Tap > Tap . If your device uses dual or triple SIM, all your networks will be listed. Tap the network with the incoming call busy problem > Select call forwarding. Make sure all options are unchecked.
who experienced the busy problem on incoming calls > Dial . Make sure all options are unchecked. If the Always forward option is enabled, tap on it and set it to Never forward.
4. Check the Do Not Disturb (DND) settings.
You can also check your Do Not Disturb (DND) settings and see that you haven’t blocked a number calling you.
For iPhone
Go to Settings > Do Not Disturb > If it’s on, turn it off.
> > When it’s on, . You can set a schedule if you don’t want to be disturbed at certain times, e.g. B. at night when you want to sleep or vlog.
For Android phones
Go to your Settings > Tap Sound & Vibration > Navigate to Do Not Disturb.
> Tap > Navigate to You can choose to turn it off completely or schedule it to turn on on weekends or weekdays.
5. Check the auto rejection settings
For some Android brands like Samsung and Infinix, you should also make sure that auto-reject is not enabled.
For Samsung, go to Settings > Call Settings > tap All Calls > Navigate to Auto Decline and Disable
> > tap > Navigate to and For Infinix it is programmed as call reject. To fix this, swipe down on the notification panel > tap the reject call icon and turn it off.
6. Check the “Show above other apps” settings.
There are other settings on your phone that can cause the busy notification for incoming calls when you are busy with your phone, possibly with another application.
Go to Phone settings > Apps & notifications > select the phone icon
> > select the Navigate to Display over other apps icon > Make sure it is set to Allowed. If it doesn’t, turn it back on.
This allows incoming calls to be displayed even when you are busy with another application. If you don’t want to do something on your phone, you can turn it off, but make sure to turn it back on when you’re done.
How do I reset my call settings?
- Open the Phone app .
- Tap More. Settings.

To use typed text in both directions, tap TTY Full.
To enter text and hear the other person answer out loud, tap TTY HCO.
To speak out loud and read the other person’s response as text, tap TTY VCO.
Tip: If you’re not sure whether you can use TTY or RTT with your phone plan and service plan, check with your network operator.

what is it and how do you activate it?
What does call waiting mean? – Dstny explained!
Sometimes you want to know if you have calls. For example, if you get stuck on a lengthy phone call to make a doctor’s appointment while waiting for another call. If you have activated call waiting, you will be informed while you are on the call that another call is coming your way. This will ensure you don’t miss any important calls while you’re on one.
If you use the call waiting function on a phone with a display or in a softphone, you can sometimes also see who the incoming call is coming from.
How does call waiting work?
Call waiting can be used on most phones to ensure you don’t miss important calls. You can use the function on mobile phones, many landline telephony solutions and in your softphone, ie your phone in the computer.
When a call is waiting, you’ll hear two discrete tones, letting you know someone else is trying to reach you. Call waiting can be a very good feature for those who don’t want to miss important calls.
Helps you avoid important calls
See who is calling right on the display
The function is usually standard on both cell phones and landline phones
Activate it yourself or with the help of your mobile operator
Works on both landline and mobile phones
Two discreet tones notify you when a call comes in
A feature that is usually free

Need to enable call waiting?
It may vary a bit from phone to phone if you need to enable the feature yourself to hear whether calls are waiting or not. In many cases it is already activated as a default selection directly in the phone. But sometimes you need to change your settings and turn on call waiting yourself to make sure you don’t miss important calls. If you are not sure you can always check and go to your settings on your mobile where you can usually see if it is activated or not. You can also always contact your carrier and ask them to help you activate it if the settings aren’t directly in the phone.
Enable call waiting on iPhone
If you have an iPhone, you can find Calls Waiting under Settings. Click on the Settings app. Then click Phone. There you will then find the option Call waiting, click on Call waiting and activate the selection. Now call waiting is enabled on your iPhone.
Use the features you have
There are various features offered with telephony today. Some of them you have to activate yourself, but they are also free. Call waiting is a feature that can be of value to businesses, but also to individuals who don’t want to miss important calls from customers or government agencies. Let’s say you have an ongoing phone call with a client, but you’re running overtime while the next meeting arrives. This ensures that you are notified when the next meeting starts so that you can easily end your previous one.
Just get started
Call waiting is a feature that requires no work from the user other than activating the service. And while it’s activated, you can feel confident that it’s there to help you. If your doctor calls during the day while you are on the phone, you can still answer.
If you don’t have the service and want to activate it, it may vary per provider. If you don’t know how to do it, you can always get help quickly. The service is generally easy to activate directly without having to do anything yourself apart from restarting the phone.
See who’s calling
Most phones today, whether mobile or landline, have a display. If you hear these two beeps during a call, you can see who is calling on the display. It helps you decide whether to stay on the ongoing call or accept the new one.
Call waiting can be extremely useful for businesses looking to save time. If a customer you’ve been trying to reach calls for some time while you’re on the phone, you can easily answer. This way you avoid chasing after the person you want to contact.
When waiting, you can choose whether you want to answer the call or not. Maybe you’re waiting for an important call, but see that the person you don’t want to talk to is trying to reach you while you’re on the line – then you don’t have to answer
Shared Lines
If a call is waiting, the handset will beep. Because of this, waiting calls can cause dial-up Internet connections to drop. As a result, shared voice lines used for dial-up modems are often disabled from functioning. Call waiting, on the other hand, has no effect on DSL connections.
Call waiting history
So when did we start using call waiting? The feature was introduced in North America in the early 1970s. At the same time, the first generation of Western Electric electric PBXs was built. It was Electronic Signaling System 1 that began to replace an older generation of mechanical PBXs. First, some smaller municipalities could offer their companies the call waiting function at a specific switchboard. For example, telephone customers in Trenton, Michigan were required to have a phone number beginning with 671 in order to use call waiting. This is because the phone numbers beginning with 671 were the only ones in the area supported by the new Electronic Signaling System (ESS) telephone system. But customer demand grew, and since the old switches were replaced, more and more people got access to waiting calls.
Call waiting was also introduced across Europe in the same period. In Europe, the feature came with the first digital PBX systems such as the Ericsson AX, Alcatel E10 and System 12. Other digital systems also supported the service, for example the UK’s System X. In the 1980s, PBX systems such as Germany’s Siemens/Bosch EWSD took calls waiting.
