Roller coasters rely on two types of energy to function: gravitational potential energy and kinetic energy. Gravitational potential energy is the energy stored by an object due to its mass and height above the ground. Kinetic energy is the energy that a body has due to its mass and speed.

When a roller coaster car reaches the top of its first big hill, it has a lot of potential energy because it’s very high off the ground. It moves very slowly over the crest of the hill, so it has almost no kinetic energy. Then it falls down the other side of the hill and starts running very fast as its height decreases rapidly. The potential energy is converted into kinetic energy. This process repeats as the car drives through hills, loops, twists and turns. Whenever it goes up, it gains more potential energy with altitude, but loses kinetic energy as it slows down. Energy is never created or destroyed – it just transforms from one form to another. This principle is known as conservation of energy.

But we know from experience that a roller coaster doesn’t run forever. Eventually it slows down due to friction (a combination of drag and contact with the track). Proper care of marble

As a member of the carbonate family, marble reacts when it comes into contact with acids – including sweat! (One of its industrial uses is to neutralize acidic pollution.) So be sure to remove all marble jewelry before exercising or engaging in any other activity that causes sweating. Marble has a low hardness scale and is therefore easily scratched. It also needs a high gloss which is part of its beauty.

Marble is very sensitive to moisture and temperature changes, so avoid wearing marble in humid and cold environments for long periods of time. Avoid household cleaners, steam and ultrasonic cleaners. Wipe gently with a warm, damp cloth, then pat dry thoroughly. Store in a soft pouch or cloth-lined box to avoid scratching the surface.

Design with marble

Designing with marble means designing with colour. While the Connemara Irish marble is a serpentine green, the other Aqua Terra “Jasper” is a mix of icy blues, creams and pastel greens. Red “malachite” – another marble with a popular trade name – presents cinnamon to brick reds with brown tinted creams. And that’s not even counting the light shades that marble can be colored with!

Remember that marble is a soft stone and is easily scratched. Since it needs such a high gloss polish, it’s a shame to dull it through unnecessary wear. Marble is gorgeous in necklaces, pendants and earrings and probably shouldn’t be used in bracelets or anklets. Ideal for tie clasps and tie clips, this stone should probably not be used for cuff links or watch bands.

The story needs to be rewritten: Marble typically begins as limestone or mostly carbonate rock that undergoes a miraculous transformation after being subjected to immense heat and pressure deep within the earth in a process called metamorphism. This process transforms a normally gray and dull limestone into the stunning white stone with black streaks that we all know as marble. The black streaks themselves are the result of the metamorphic process that concentrates the carbon impurities from the limestone into the familiar black lines. Scientifically, these stripes are known as stylolites. Historically, marble has been known for its use in art and architecture since the days of ancient Greece and possibly even earlier. Buildings like the Taj Mahal, the Lincoln Memorial, the Supreme Court Building, and the Greek Parthenon were all built of marble.

1. Marble is a type of limestone that has been crystallized. Limestone is heated, compressed and solidified again to become the elegant marble stone

Before we know anything about green marble, we need to get used to marble as a fundamental and geological term. In geology, marble is a metamorphic rock. What is green marble called?

Any stone that may or may not have undergone the crystallization of the carbonate process through metamorphosis but is capable of accepting polish and having green pigmentations/colours is referred to as green marble. Hence green travertines such as limestone rocks, Cippolino, Verde Antigua, Verde Guatemala such as calcite-based rocks and many other serpentines containing rocks also called Green Marble by most modern stonemasons.

In short, all green marbles are not actually marbles by definition in geology, but are beautiful nonetheless and despite using these imitative marbles.

Due to the high content of serpentine in the green marble stones, it is considered to be the hardest type of marble in the world and the same notion has increased the use of green marble in all regions of the planet.

Where is green marble found?

Globally, green marbles are available in nearly 38 countries including China, Italy, India, Greece, Turkey, Sweden and Guatemala. Of these, Kolmarden in northeastern Östergötland in Sweden is the best source of the hardest green marble.

Today, India ranks high in terms of quantity and quality of green marble supply around the world including its domestic market. In India, Aravali Mountains (Southwest Rajasthan) is a vast area where large deposits of high quality green marble have been found and where nearly 300 quarries out of a total of 2000 quarries have been in operation since the late 1970s.

It is estimated that the total production of marble in India is more than 20,00,000 tons per year. Hence, it is considered as one of the leading marble producers and exporters of the countries in the world.

Green marble texture and taxonomy

Marble experts divide green marbles into two main categories:

Green marble stones with leaf or flower texture

Leafless or plain green marble with a green background and white veins.

Dark Green Marble It is a very dark green

It often comes with a forest pattern.
