Boiler Manuals: Ariston E-Combi EVO 24 FF Manuals Products

Go green for 2019 is the lifestyle movement we all want to follow in the new year. This includes thinking about sustainability, switching to energy-efficient appliances and reducing our water consumption.

To reduce the environmental impact, many modern boilers are now fitted with an ‘eco mode’ setting. But if you’ve just moved into a new apartment or upgraded your device, the Eco Mode feature can be tantamount to a tricky math task. And of course you don’t have the manual at hand, because who keeps these useful guides full of information?

What is eco-mode for boilers? Does it really save money? Is it really better for the environment? Don’t worry, we have answers to all of these questions so you can choose the best option for your budget.

What is Eco mode?

Eco mode means your preheat function is turned off. As simple as that.

In a normal or comfort mode, the preheat function is on and hot water is ready to come out of the tap when needed.

In Eco mode, the water is not preheated. Don’t despair, it doesn’t mean it will take hours. In fact, the water doesn’t start heating until a faucet is opened, but it shouldn’t take more than 10-12 seconds for hot water to come out.

Will it help me save money on my bills?

Those 10-12 seconds of running water before it heats up will surely make many people question the financial benefits of Eco mode.

Eco mode uses less energy than a standard “comfort” setting. It is therefore cheaper to run your boiler in Eco mode. You may not be saving enough for a home, but every penny counts!

Your slightly increased water usage is also unlikely to outweigh the energy savings. The amount you will waste is minimal.

Is it really good for the environment?

Did you know that a gas combi appliance is responsible for up to two thirds of your household’s CO2 emissions? Switching to a class A condensing combi-device brings you many green points.

While Eco mode may not lower your bills significantly, it does help you save energy and consume more sustainably. And it only takes a push of a button.

If you have an Ariston Boiler, this guide to the most common Ariston Boiler problems will get you through the tough times and may even lead you to troubleshoot one yourself. Should you have any doubts or spot a fault that requires a technician, you can use our service to get a free boiler repair quote.

Common problems with Ariston boilers?

Low Water Pressure (Error Code 108)

Low boiler pressure can result in central heating not working as it should. To check the boiler pressure just take a look at the pressure gauge and if it reads anything below 1 you may have a problem.

How to fix Ariston low boiler pressure

Ariston boilers, like all boilers, will gradually lose water pressure over time, but increasing the pressure is something you can do yourself and shouldn’t take too long at all – use our How to Increase Low Boiler Pressure guide to find out how Ariston boilers can increase pressure. However, if there has been a sudden drop in water pressure, there could be a leak somewhere in the system that needs to be repaired by a qualified plumber as soon as possible.

If you have determined your boiler needs a new part or are unsure, you will need a Gas Safe registered technician to diagnose the problem and replace defective parts.

No Ignition (Fault Code 5P1 or 5P2)

There are many reasons why an Ariston boiler may not ignite, and most of the possible reasons require a Gas Safe engineer. Some of these causes include: faulty ignition wires, broken diaphragms or airlocks, a blocked burner, spark generator problem, no or little gas flow, low gas pressure and ignition nozzle deposits.

There are many other reasons your Ariston Kettle may not ignite, but these are common problems that you should not attempt to troubleshoot yourself.

How to fix an ignition error on an Ariston boiler

Before making an appointment with a heating engineer to find the fault that is preventing the boiler from igniting, you should check that the boiler pressure is not too high or too low and that the thermostat settings are correct. Otherwise, you will need to hire a Gas Safe engineer to repair your Ariston boiler.

No indicator light (error code 501)

The pilot light stays lit and ready to light the burner when central heating or hot water is required. Without the pilot light, an Ariston boiler would not be able to operate and heat the water.

If an indicator light is lit, it should burn intensely blue. If you see a yellow or orange color, there could be a carbon monoxide leak. Carbon monoxide is a deadly gas that can seriously damage your health and cannot be detected without a carbon monoxide detector as it is odorless and colorless.

If you have your Ariston boiler serviced annually, Gas Safe has the ability to detect any possible risk of a carbon monoxide leak to make sure it doesn’t happen. If you see a yellow or orange flame you should turn off your boiler and open the windows and contact a Gas Safe engineer immediately.

There are several things that can prevent the pilot light from igniting on an Ariston kettle, including:

Draft from the chimney blowing out the flame

Bad thermocouple

Blocked gas valve

Blockage in the flue

These are just some of the reasons why the pilot light keeps going out. You should hire a Gas Safe engineer to locate and repair your Ariston boiler.

How to attach the pilot light to an Ariston boiler

You should never attempt to repair a pilot light yourself, instead hire a Gas Safe engineer who is capable of safely repairing your Ariston boiler.

Defective fan (error code A41)

The fan is an important part of your Ariston boiler as it plays an important role in moving harmful gases out of the house. If there is a problem with the fan, the Ariston boilers will lock up and display error code A41.

How to fix a bad fan

A locked Ariston boiler will not operate until the fault, in this case a fan problem, is corrected. Do not attempt to repair a faulty fan yourself, always contact a Gas Safe technician.

The heating installer could first verify that the fan is getting the power it needs by looking at the voltmeter. If so, then it is very likely that a replacement fan will need to be installed. If this is the case, there could well be a problem with other parts of the boiler too – especially if the unit is over 8 years old – and it could be cheaper in the long run to replace your Ariston boiler.

PCB Problem (Error Codes 301-307)

All modern boilers are electronically controlled and the printed circuit board (PCB) is the focal point of the many electrical components that make up the unit. While the boiler is in operation, the circuit board constantly receives and sends signals with each individual electrical component. So if it breaks, the boiler will not work.

There are 7 common error codes that appear on Ariston boilers (although they are not the only ones) when there is a problem with the circuit board that prevents the boiler from working: 301, 302, 303, 304, 305, 306 and 307 .

How to fix a PCB problem

Circuit board problems should only be investigated by a Gas Safe engineer. You may be able to fix a weak connection that is preventing the boiler from working properly, but if this is not possible then the circuit board will need to be replaced.

Air pressure switch defective (error code E34)

An air pressure switch is an essential feature of any boiler as it directs harmful gases out of the boiler, through the chimney and out of your home. A faulty air pressure switch means the boiler is not safe and will lock itself as a precaution.

How to repair an air pressure switch

A fault in the air pressure monitor should only be looked at by a qualified heating engineer. It could be a more complicated problem than just being an air pressure switch fault as the problem could potentially be in the connection between the air pressure switch and the circuit board.

Poor water circulation (any error code from 103 to 108)

If there is not enough water circulating in your central heating system, the radiators cannot heat properly. The same applies to hot water.

How to improve Ariston water circulation

This can be due to a problem with the circulation pump or clogs in the system. A Gas Safe engineer can repair or replace a faulty pump if that is the cause. Should slime, rust and other debris build up in the system, he can perform a powerflush to remove it all.

Air pressure switch defective (E34)

The air pressure switch is an essential part of any boiler, not only Ariston boilers, as it ensures that harmful gases generated during boiler operation are expelled from your property through the chimney. So if there is a problem with the air pressure switch, the boiler will not be in a safe condition.

How to repair an air pressure switch

You will need a Gas Safe registered technician to take a look if you see the E34 error code. While the fault could be solely with the air pressure switch, there is a chance it could be with the printed circuit board (PCB) or the connection between the circuit board and the air pressure switch.

Yes Radiators not getting hot Mud or air in the system or uneven heat distribution Bleed the radiators, which doesn’t require an engineer unless you don’t feel like doing the task yourself. Boiler keeps turning off Possible reason: low water pressure, a problem with the thermostat, or no water flow due to a closed valve, air in the system, or the pump is not circulating the water in the system properly Yes

How to reset an Ariston boiler

After a malfunction has been rectified, the boiler will likely need to be reset to get it running again. Most boilers require you to press and hold the reset button for up to 10 seconds to reset a boiler, but you should consult the manual that came with your Ariston boiler to ensure you reset your boiler correctly.

If the error keeps popping up and you find yourself having to reset your boiler frequently, it may be time to consider a replacement boiler.

Ariston boiler guarantee

Many Ariston boilers come with a 2 year warranty as standard, but having recently introduced 8 and 12 year warranties on some boilers you can be well looked after. For more information, see our Ariston Guarantees Guide. Once the warranty has expired, you must have your Ariston boiler serviced annually to keep it valid, otherwise it will end prematurely.

Ariston boiler insurance and ongoing coverage

If your boiler warranty has expired or is about to expire, it may be worth considering boiler insurance. You can take out this insurance with your energy supplier, but there is no obligation. When comparing boiler insurance policies, look for those that offer annual service and safety inspections.

Should You Replace Your Ariston Boiler?

There comes a point when repairing Ariston boiler problems can become time consuming and expensive when failures keep recurring. The older the boiler, the more likely it is to fail, and if your Ariston boiler has been heating your home for more than 8 years, you should consider replacing it with a newer model.

A new Ariston boiler can save you up to £300* a year in a family home. Take a look at the table below to see how much you could save depending on your current boiler output and property.

What should the pressure be on an Ariston boiler?

However, there’s a perfect boiler pressure range between 1 bar and 1.5 bar. Usually, this range is marked green on the pressure gauge. If the boiler pressure drops below 0.6 bar, your Ariston boiler will display a 108 fault code.

Boiler Manuals: Ariston E-Combi EVO 24 FF Manuals Products

For more than half a century, Ariston has provided customers in more than 150 countries around the world with efficient and high-quality heating solutions. The company prides itself on offering innovative heating solutions at competitive and affordable price points.

If your Ariston boiler started making strange noises and constantly locking up, you are frustrated. But before you call a Gas Safe engineer, here’s a guide to common boiler faults and details on whether you can fix the problem yourself or if you should hire a professional.

circuit board error

This is by far the most feared boiler problem. The printed circuit board is the heart of a boiler. It sends and receives signals from other boiler components. A PCB failure paralyzes the entire boiler operation. And unfortunately, it is the most expensive part to replace.

If your Ariston boiler is displaying error codes 301 through 307, there is likely a PCB fault. However, error codes 303, 305, 307, and 306 are the most difficult to fix. And since these are the main defects of the circuit board, there is a high probability that you will replace the device.

solution

Call a Gas Safe engineer to inspect and assess the damage. There may be weak or damaged circuit board connections that can be repaired inexpensively.

If you do need to replace the circuit board, prepare to spend upwards of £500. And if the boiler is old and out of warranty, consider installing a new boiler instead.

Low water pressure

The boiler pressure decreases over time. However, there is a perfect boiler pressure range between 1 bar and 1.5 bar. This area is usually marked green on the manometer. If the boiler pressure falls below 0.6 bar, your Ariston boiler will display a 108 error code.

While low boiler pressure is nothing to worry about, it is a good idea to get it fixed soon to avoid overloading and damaging other boiler components. Luckily, you can fix this error on your own.

solution

The boiler pressure is directly related to the water level in the boiler. Adding water to the system through the external fill circuit increases the boiler pressure to the normal range. After a while you should reset the boiler to eliminate the boiler error.

cauldron leaks

If you get the boiler error 108 shortly after clearing it, it means you have a leak in the system. Boiler leaks can occur in any part of the boiler. The easiest to attach are those on the external piping. These leaks are often accompanied by an inexplicable pool of water in the home.

Leaks from piping in the walls and inside the boiler are difficult to fix due to the tools and expertise required. The leaks can be caused by connections loosened by pressure over time or cracks in the boiler pump.

solution

Call a Gas Safe engineer to inspect the boiler for leaks. For leaks at the joints, they will tighten or seal the leak. However, if a crack in the boiler pump is causing the leak, it will need to be replaced.

Replacing a new boiler costs around £300.

ignition failure

If you have an ignition fault you will see a 5P2 or a 5P1 displayed on the boiler. If the boiler does not ignite, this could be due to the following:

Ignition cable defective

A blocked burner

Spark generator defective

Blocked pilot jet

solution

Most of the faults described require minimal repairs for the boiler to ignite. However, if a boiler component is blocked and in poor condition, you will need to replace it. If the boiler is old and the warranty has expired, you should offset the replacement cost against the repair cost.

When a boiler is old, its parts begin to deteriorate and fail. You shouldn’t get stuck in an endless repair cycle and spend big bucks on an old boiler – install a new one.

no flame

The pilot light stays on to ignite the kettle burner when you need hot water or turn on the central heating. Without the pilot light, the Ariston kettle will not heat or turn on water. When it is on, the indicator light should be blue. If it is orange or yellow, there could be a carbon monoxide leak.

Carbon monoxide is a deadly gas mainly because it is odorless and colorless. You can’t detect it without a carbon dioxide alarm. Therefore, when installing a new boiler, Gas Safe engineers insist on its installation.

If the indicator light turns orange or yellow, you should open all windows and contact a Gas Safe engineer as soon as possible.

Things that could prevent a kettle flame include:

A defective thermocouple

A block in the chimney

Blocked gas valve

A strong draft extinguishes the flame

solution

You should not try to fix error code 501 yourself. Call a Gas Safe engineer. The technician dismantles the boiler, cleans the pilot jet and reinstalls it.

Also, they will look for other possible causes and fix them.

fan error

The fan is an important part of the boiler. Unlike other electrical appliances, however, the fan does not have the task of cooling the boiler. It is installed to force noxious gases up the chimney for expulsion. When you turn on your Ariston boiler, it’s the first component to start up. If it is defective, the boiler will not start and will display an A41 error code.

solution

An Ariston boiler will not start if the fan is defective. The fan needs to be repaired by a Gas Safe engineer. Possible fan errors include:

Incorrect fan settings – a fan may be running too fast or too slow (Error Code 604), killing the flame or not producing enough draft to force noxious gases up the chimney. In this case, the Gas Safe engineer corrects the settings and tries to restart the boiler.

Broken Fan – The fan needs to be replaced. But if it is more than eight years old, it would be cheaper to install a new Ariston boiler.

Inadequate circulation

If the boiler displays an error code between 103 and 108, your boiler has insufficient circulation. This can have the following causes:

A block in the system

Problem with the heating pump

If the heating pump is not working efficiently, the radiators and your hot water will not reach the desired temperature. The pathogens can include:

Air pocket in the heating pump

Worn pump shaft or bearings

Blown pump seal

Wrong speeds

Incorrect installation

Boiler blockages are often caused by sludge build-up. Sludge consists of rust and dirt in the boiler and radiator. A block in the boiler means that the water circulation is impaired and the pressure increases.

solution

If you suspect you are dealing with a defective pump, hire a Gas Safe engineer to replace it. If it is a blockage, have the Gas Safe engineer perform a powerflush or chemical flush to clear the system of sludge.

The technician also recommends installing a magnetic filter to prevent future sludge build-up. However, if the block damaged the heater pump, you will need to replace it.

Air pressure switch defective

The new Ariston boilers have different error codes than the old Ariston boilers. For example, in the Microgenus, an E34 code will appear if an air pressure switch fails.

The boiler air pressure switch ensures that the fan forces harmful boiler gases into the chimney to be blown out. If there is a fault in this boiler component, the boiler is not safe to operate. This is because the circuit board cannot detect whether the boiler is emitting the harmful gases or not.

solution

If you’re lucky, this error is only caused by an air pressure switch error. Unfortunately, these codes are not entirely accurate. Other problems could be the connection between the switch and the board or a faulty board.

If the circuit board needs to be replaced, it is better to install a new boiler instead.

High boiler pressure

Low boiler pressure is not good, as is high boiler pressure. During operation, the boiler pressure gauge can show 2 bar, which is above normal. However, due to the delivery pressure, this is acceptable. When not in use, the pressure should reduce to normal.

However, if the boiler pressure rises to 3 bar, this is alarming. The most common causes of high boiler pressure include:

Lots of water in the system. This is often caused by too much water being added during pressurization. Always keep an eye on the pressure gauge when adding water.

Defective boiler parts, including the fill loop and pressure relief valve.

solution

If there is excess water, you should drain the system through the radiators. Buy a radiator bleeder wrench at a hardware store and use it to turn the radiator valve. In the case of faulty filing loops, you must replace the defective parts.

A new inflation loop costs between £80 and £150, while a pressure relief valve costs between £100 and £350. These fixes should clear error code 109.

Boiler overheated

An overheated boiler is an emergency and is indicated by an error code of 722, 723, or 101. You should never attempt to repair an overheated boiler yourself. This problem is caused by faulty boiler safety control components, including those that regulate temperature, water, and gas supplies.

If this is not corrected immediately, the boiler components will be stressed and may suffer irreparable damage. In some cases, the cauldron may explode.

Other malfunctions related to boiler overheating include:

wiring error

Manual opening of the boiler gas valves

Remove pressure relief valves

solution

Contact a Gas Safe engineer to replace the pressure relief valves and troubleshoot wiring errors. Also, reduce the boiler pressure to the normal range.

Other boiler error codes and troubleshooting

Error code 712: Defective return sensor in zone 2

Solution: Replace the return sensor.

Error Code 5P3: Flame Shutdown Off

Solution: Reduce the fan speed.

Error code 3P9: Schedule boiler maintenance

Solution: N/A

Error code 304: Too many breaks within 15 minutes

Solution: Find the cause of the boiler lockup.

This is how you extend the life of your boiler

Ariston boiler guarantee

The standard warranty for Ariston boilers is two years. However, some Ariston shells such as the Class HE System Evo and the Clas HE Evo come with a 8 to 12 year warranty.

During the warranty period, Ariston will replace and replace faulty boiler components found to be due to problems with workmanship or materials used. Warranties do not cover problems arising from maintenance and commissioning procedures and improper installation.

In order to validate the guarantee for each year, you must carry out an annual boiler service and present the resulting certificate.

Ariston boiler cover

When your boiler warranty comes to an end, you should buy a boiler cover to protect yourself from sudden and high boiler repair and replacement costs. However, you have to pay monthly premiums for these boiler covers.

You can get coverage from Ariston Kessel or another boiler insurance company if they have favorable terms. Always make sure they cover annual service and safety inspections.

Ariston boiler service

Boiler maintenance should be performed annually and by a Gas Safe boiler technician. The maintenance should not take longer than 30 minutes. However, the duration depends on the boiler type and the number of faults to be resolved.

Annual maintenance of the Ariston boiler is essential for:

Are Ariston boilers any good?

Generally speaking, Ariston boilers are a good choice. The company’s newest ranges are reliable, quiet, and boasts high energy efficiency. Their most notable features include: Auto function — allows the boiler to adjust its function based on the central heating system temperature.

Boiler Manuals: Ariston E-Combi EVO 24 FF Manuals Products

Are you looking for a new boiler? Ariston boilers could be a good option – they’re reliable, efficient, and pretty stylish for what it’s worth.

To help you decide if Ariston is worth your time and money, we have prepared the following guide. Here we cover online reviews, prices and directly compare Ariston kettles to other leading brands.

The Ariston series of boilers

Ariston offers a range of condensing boilers, including system, normal and combi boilers.

Combi boilers tend to be the most popular type of boiler in the Ariston range as they can save space in small to medium sized properties.

You need a combi boiler if you don’t have a water tank or cylinder. Otherwise, you can either convert your existing system boiler into a combi or explore Ariston’s system boilers as a replacement.

The current range of Ariston combi boilers consists of:

Class Net One

Alteas Net One

Genus Net One

Class HE Evo

E-Combi Evo

Ariston Class One

E Combi One

For Ariston combi boilers you have a range of boilers from 24kW to 38kW – these should suit everything from a small apartment to a 4 bedroom house.

RELATED READING: Guide to the Best Combo Boiler Models in 2022

The regular range is a little thin on the ground as only the Clas HE Regular is on sale and only a 24kW model is available.

If you are unsure whether Ariston system boilers are suitable, you have a larger selection, including:

Ariston E-System One

System One class

Class HE System Evo

E-System Evo

Depending on the model, there is a good selection of system boilers from 18kW-30kW on offer.

Not sure if a system boiler is the right boiler type for you? You can find out more about system boilers and whether they are better suited for your home than combos in our guide here.

What size Ariston boiler do you need?

Which kw boiler you need depends not only on the size of your property, but also on the size of your heating system, the number of radiators and/or towel rails and the hot water requirement (e.g. one or two showers) – it is not unified approach.

The easiest way to determine the size of boiler you need is to use this boiler size calculator. Using that will offer you the most appropriate sized cauldron for your property (although it’s Worcester and not Ariston) but also an on-screen price.

Now you know the boiler size you need and a price quote that you can compare here for free with up to 3 Ariston boiler quotes from local installers.

warranty

A number of guarantees are offered here; They are model dependent.

If you’ve read some of our other kettle reviews, you know that we focus on a long warranty as a key selling point. If a manufacturer is only willing to give a 1 or 2 year warranty, there’s a good chance there’s a reason…

An installation in a small apartment could be in the £1,900 to £2,200 range. However, the boiler accounts for only about half of that cost. In general, if you pay around £100-200 extra for the boiler itself you can jump from a 1 or 2 year warranty to 5 years or more.

Ariston boilers come with a number of guarantees. Depending on the model, you get 2 years, 5 years, 8 years or 12 years.

As an absolute minimum, we recommend a term of 5 years. You don’t have to settle for less. Here, for example, you can get a Worcester Bosch boiler with a 10-year guarantee and at a reasonable price.

How do Ariston prices compare to other brands?

Ariston hasn’t been known for offering particularly long warranties in the past and that will put people off as it doesn’t show they have the confidence in their products that we need to buy them.

However, with a range of boilers on offer with a higher guarantee of 5 to 12 years, their offer is much better today than it used to be.

Ariston’s problem is that they struggle to compete on price with other leading brands. You would expect a lesser known brand to be cheaper than market leaders like Baxi, Ideal, Vaillant and Worcester.

As an example you can find the Clas Net One 26kw at Screwfix for around £900, around £90 cheaper than the Worcester equivalent. That was until boiler installation company HEATABLE came along. Because they have preferential pricing, you can get a Worcester with a 10-year warranty for a similar price or less. You can see the exact price here.

The problem is that most boiler installers want to source products from a local dealer should there be a problem (so they can swap it out right away) and then talk about the same or more expensive than Worcester, Ideal Baxi and Vaillant equivalents.

How much does it cost to install an Ariston?

And it doesn’t stop there. Many manufacturers are now venturing into installations in one way or another.

Take Worcester, for example. The folks at Heatable – a fixed price boiler installer – get Worcester boilers dirt cheap. Additionally, their installation prices are low since they don’t send on-site sales people.

In doing so, Heatable is competing with local installers and blowing national companies out of the water.

Here you can get a Worcester boiler at a fixed price. Then get Ariston prices (and other boiler options) from a local installer, although this involves an on-site quote and site visit by a Gas Safe registered technician.

We’ve also written a complete boiler installation guide worth reading here, including price differences between local and national installers.

Ariston boiler reviews

I like to dig up some reviews before I buy any product, let alone one that might cost £2,000 or more. The problem with smaller companies like Ariston is that the amount of reviews just isn’t out there.

Trust Pilot is a good place to start. Most here are negative but due to the lower volume this may not be a true representation of the products or service offered by Ariston. However, it doesn’t exactly fill the mind with confidence.

There is a more diverse set of Ariston reviews in the Review Center.

Interestingly, there is a review that includes a customer survey at Good House Keeping.

84% of readers there rated Ariston Kessel as ‘good’ or ‘excellent’, which is a slight contrast to what is said on Trust Pilot.

Review verdict: Should you buy an Ariston?

I wouldn’t be against an Ariston, nor would I be upset if one of their combi boilers was already installed when I moved into a property. However, due to the lack of online reviews and prices that compare to leading brands like Baxi, Ideal Boilers, Vaillant and Worcester, I would stick with any of these brands.

However, prices may vary depending on the installer. If they assemble a large number of Ariston boilers there is a good chance they can get amazing deals and they can assemble them for a lot cheaper than your average installer.

You can get a quick onsite visit from up to 3 boiler installation companies in your area and then compare them directly to an online fixed price quote from Heatable.

Frequently asked questions about Ariston boilers

To conclude our review, we would like to take some time to answer common questions about Ariston kettles.

How long should an Ariston cauldron last?

Depending on the model, an Ariston kettle can last up to 15 years or more. The boiler warranty that comes with a model gives a reasonable indication of the lifespan of that particular model.

For example, a 2-year warranty indicates that the manufacturer anticipates that failures may occur after 2 years of operation. Conversely, a 10-year warranty means greater confidence from the manufacturer that the boiler will run trouble-free for at least a decade.

That’s why it’s so important to opt for the longest possible warranty period, even if it costs £100-200 more upfront.

Do Ariston still make cauldrons?

Yes, Ariston still produces boilers. Ariston Thermo Group is a renowned manufacturer of heating products that has existed since the 1930s. It is headquartered in Italy and has offices around the world.

And although Ariston boilers are not made in the UK, boiler parts are still widely available from plumbing stockists across the country.

Why isn’t my Ariston boiler working?

There are a number of reasons why an Ariston (or any other boiler) could stop working. However, with Ariston boilers, the most common problem is a fault with the printed circuit board (PCB). If your Ariston boiler’s circuit board is faulty, you may see the following error codes: 301/302/303/304/305/306/307.

Another common cause is a low pressure issue. If the pressure gauge of your Ariston drops below 0.60 bar, the pressure is far too low for the boiler to operate. In this case, error code 108 is displayed.

To learn more about Ariston issues, you can read our guide here.

Are Ariston cauldrons good?

In general, Ariston boilers are a good choice. The company’s latest series are reliable, quiet and are characterized by high energy efficiency. Their most notable features include:

Auto function – allows the boiler to adjust its function based on the temperature of the central heating system.

— allows the boiler to adjust its function based on the temperature of the central heating system. Ariston NET – allows you to control your boiler remotely.

— lets you control your boiler remotely. Efficiency class A+ – energy savings help you to reduce your energy costs

So if you’re looking for an Ariston kettle, you can’t go wrong.

How do you reset an Ariston cauldron?

You need to find your Ariston’s reset button and hold it down for up to 10 seconds. Note that the button may not look the same or be in a different location depending on the model. However, it’s usually located near the display and you’ll clearly see that it’s labeled “Reset”.

What pressure should an Ariston boiler have?

The ideal water pressure for a boiler is between 1 and 1.5 bar.

If the pressure drops below 0.6 bar you will see error code 108 and your boiler will not be able to function properly. We have outlined the main causes of low boiler pressure here in our guide.

If the pressure gauge rises and stays above 2 bar, the pressure is probably too high. Find out more about boiler problems related to high pressure here.

How to increase the pressure on an Ariston boiler?

As a rule, heating engineers registered with Gas Safe are not required to increase the pressure on an Ariston (or any other gas boiler). You can do this yourself via the boiler’s filling loop.

However, before you start topping up your boiler with tap water, you should be 100% sure that the cause of the vacuum is no longer there. In most cases, low boiler pressure is caused by a leak somewhere in the heating system. Topping up the boiler while the leak is still there makes no sense – it’s just a matter of time before the pressure drops again.

To find out how to repressurize a boiler, you can refer to our guide here.

How do I fix error 108 on an Ariston boiler?

On Ariston boilers, error 108 means low system pressure; Therefore, the first thing you should do is identify the cause of the pressure loss. In most cases the underlying problem is a water leak in the system, but in rare cases a faulty pressure sensor can also result in a low pressure reading.

In order to properly diagnose the cause of Error 108, it is always best to hire a Gas Safe registered boiler technician to inspect your unit.

Thank you for reading our Ariston boiler review.

Any questions? Drop us a message via our contact page and we’ll get back to you as soon as possible.

And don’t forget to bookmark Heatingforce.co.uk, we regularly post boiler reviews and repair advice.

What does SP1 mean on a Ariston boiler?

SP1 – first ignition attempt failed. SP2 – second ignition attempt failed. SP3 – third ignition attempt (final) 501 – no flame detected.

Boiler Manuals: Ariston E-Combi EVO 24 FF Manuals Products

If your Ariston boiler is showing SP1, SP2 and SP3 error codes, please make sure your gas is turned on at the gas meter or if you are using a prepaid meter that you have a balance. If you have a gas hob, test it by turning your hob on. If your gas is off, you will see error codes SP1 through SP3. This way you might save a travel fee!

This boiler ran for a few weeks, mostly showing error codes 501 and sometimes 504. Manually resetting the boiler would help for a few hours. Normally the boiler would try to ignite twice with the message SP1 and then SP2 followed by error code 501. Sometimes the boiler would ignite and after a short while it would display error code 504. Malfunctions and error messages occurred sporadically. Codes from the 5XX family indicate ignition and flame detection:

SP1 – first attempt at ignition failed

SP2 – failed second attempt to ignite

SP3 – third ignition attempt (final)

501 – no flame detected

504 – Flame Lift

In the case of this particular boiler, all of these intermittent errors were caused by a major component failure. Errors like this can be difficult to diagnose, especially if they occur sporadically, as any of the following components may be faulty:

Deduction

air intake

fan

gas valve

circuit board

detection electrode and wiring

How to fix common problems with the Ariston boiler

In this article we will outline the main error codes of the Ariston boiler. We’ll also show you how to reset your Ariston boiler, offer preventive maintenance advice and let you know how to find a gas safe technician in your area. So let’s dive in! Ariston also makes electric boilers, so make sure you know which boiler you have.

What are Ariston boiler error codes?

Ariston boiler error codes are the numeric and occasionally alphanumeric codes that appear on your boiler when there is a problem. This code usually identifies the error so you can pinpoint the source of the problem.

Ariston boiler error codes are mainly used by professional Gas Safe engineers to identify the problem with the boiler so that they can solve it. However, it is always beneficial to understand these trouble codes for yourself.

How to reset an Ariston boiler

To reset your Ariston boiler, all you have to do is find the reset button and hold it for up to 10 seconds. All boilers have a reset button, but depending on the boiler type, make and model, its location may be slightly different. If you cannot see the reset button automatically, check the menu on the boiler display screen. As always, remember to check your specific Ariston boiler manual for more information and the specific location for your Ariston model.

All modern boilers have a safety feature that forces the boiler to lock up if there is a problem. When the boiler detects an error, it will automatically stop the boiler operation. Not only will this protect the boiler itself from possible further damage, but it will also alert you that something is wrong.

Why reset your Ariston boiler?

There are several reasons why you may need to reset your boiler. After a boiler problem has been fixed, you often need to reset your boiler so the error is cleared and the system can be updated to start again. Any error codes displayed or flashing lights will stop at this point.

Sometimes simply resetting the boiler can fix the problem from the start. If directed to do so by your Gassafe engineer, you can reset your Ariston boiler yourself, potentially saving you time and money if the technician does not have to make a home visit.

If you have to reset your Ariston boiler regularly, it could be a persistent fault in the system or a water leak. If this is the case, it’s worth checking with your Gassafe engineer to see if there are any faults that could lead to serious hazards. This could also be a sign that you should consider upgrading your boiler.

Ariston boiler maintenance

It is important to carry out an annual maintenance check on your Ariston boiler. Not only does this ensure a long life for your boiler, but it can also prevent some potentially high future costs and a new boiler.

An annual service check can ensure that your boiler is working safely. It’s an opportunity to identify small issues that could easily be repaired or replaced but could have escalated into a much larger and costly problem.

By making sure your boiler is working at its best, you can keep your heating bills to a minimum. An efficient boiler uses less fuel, resulting in lower bills and lower CO2 emissions. If you think your boiler is not running efficiently and is on its last legs, contact our team of experts today to find an optimal boiler alternative.

Ariston boilers and guarantees

Ariston boilers usually come with a manufacturer’s warranty that lasts between 2 and 12 years, meaning any faults can be repaired or replaced free of charge. You get a boiler cover that you can pay monthly, then this also includes your annual service.

Remember to have your annual maintenance check carried out by a Gas-Safe registered technician so you can be assured it has been carried out to a high standard.

How to Find a Gassafe Engineer

We have realized the importance of hiring a Gas Safe engineer for any breakdown or maintenance work on your boiler. They are fully trained and equipped to work with this equipment and understand how to work with gas based equipment.

You can tell if a technician is gas safe or not by checking if they are on the gas safe register and if they have their gas safe badge. In the UK we have an official list of registered engineers. Simply search your zip code to find a suitable Gas Safe Registered Technician near you.

Choosing the right boiler for reliability

When choosing a new boiler it is always good to know what problems it has had in the past so you can make an informed decision for your next purchase. A boiler will eventually break and if you are looking for a new Ariston boiler or similar then check out other boiler problems from similar manufacturers such as: B. Firebird error codes and Ravenheat error codes.

You will see that the list here is very similar and these kettle manufacturers are in the lesser known category, similar to Ariston kettles.
