IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

TO REDUCE THE RISK OF FIRE, ELECTRIC SHOCK, OR INJURY:

Connect only to a properly grounded outlet. See grounding instructions. Do not modify the 3-pin grounded plug.

Do not leave the device unplugged. Unplug from outlet when not in use and before servicing.

Indoor use only.

Do not use as a toy. Special attention is required when used by or near children.

Do not use it for purposes other than those described in this user manual. Only use attachments recommended by the manufacturer.

Do not use with a damaged cord or plug. If the device is not working properly or has been dropped, damaged, left outdoors, or dropped into water, have it repaired by an authorized service center.

Always install the float before each wet shot.

Do not pull or carry the cord, use the cord as a handle, close a door by the cord, or pull the cord around sharp edges or corners. Do not run the device over the cable. Keep cords away from hot surfaces.

Do not unplug the connector by pulling on the cord. To unplug, grasp the connector, not the cord.

Do not touch the plug or the device with wet hands.

Do not insert objects into openings. Do not use if an opening is blocked; Keep the openings free of dust, lint, hair, or anything that might restrict airflow.

Keep hair, loose clothing, fingers and all parts of body away from openings and moving parts.

Turn off all controls before plugging or unplugging the device.

Be extra careful when cleaning on stairs.

Do not use to pick up flammable or combustible materials (lighter fluid, gasoline, kerosene, etc.) or in areas where they may be present.

Do not use the device in an enclosed space filled with fumes given off by oil-based paints, paint thinners, some moth repellents, combustible dust, or other explosive or toxic fumes.

Do not use to vacuum up toxic materials (chlorine bleach, ammonia, drain cleaner, etc.).

Use only BISSELL cleaning products intended for use with this device to avoid damage to internal components. Refer to the Cleaning Fluid section of this manual.

Unplug before connecting the TurboBrush Tool.

Don’t dive. Use only on surfaces dampened by the cleaning process.

Place the device on a flat surface.

Do not carry the device while it is in use.

WARNING

Improper connection of the equipment grounding conductor can create a risk of electric shock. Contact a qualified electrician or serviceman if you are not sure the outlet is properly grounded.

DO NOT ALTER THE PLUG. If it does not fit the outlet, have a proper outlet installed by a qualified electrician. This appliance is intended for use on a 120 volt rated circuit and is equipped with a grounding plug that looks like the plug shown in the illustration. Make sure the device is plugged into an outlet that has the same configuration as the plug. A plug adapter should not be used with this appliance.

GROUNDING INSTRUCTIONS

This device must be connected to a grounded mains supply. In the event of a malfunction or failure, grounding provides a safe path of least resistance for electrical current, reducing the risk of electrocution. The cord for this equipment has an equipment grounding conductor and a grounding plug. It must only be connected to an outlet that is properly installed and grounded in accordance with all local codes and ordinances.

SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS FOR FUTURE USE

This model is intended for domestic use only. Commercial use of this device will void the manufacturer’s warranty.

Before you clean

Move furniture to another area if cleaning an entire room (optional). Before deep cleaning, pick up all loose dirt, debris, and pet hair. It is recommended to vacuum the area prior to deep cleaning. Plan your cleaning route to leave an exit trail. It’s best to start in the corner farthest from your exit. A pre-treatment (optional) is recommended to improve cleaning performance for heavily soiled carpets in high traffic areas such as entrances and hallways.

BISSELL stain pre-treatment

Spray the BISSELL Stain Pretreat formula onto high-traffic areas, soiled areas or stains. Leave on for at least 3 minutes. Clean as usual following the instructions on the next page.

Machine preparation

Fill the 2-in-1 water tank

Remove the tank from the base of the machine by lifting the tank carrying handle. Carry it to the sink like a bucket. Unlock the top of the tank from the bottom by lifting the tank latches on either side of the tank. Using the included measuring cup, pour 5 oz of the BISSELL 2X formula into the high-capacity bladder. Fill the remainder of the high capacity bladder with hot tap water (maximum 60°C/140°F). DO NOT BOIL WATER OR MICROWAVE WAVES.

NOTE: Always use genuine BISSELL 2X formulas to maximize cleaning and ensure the safety of your machine.

Place the top of the tank back onto the bottom and secure the latches on either side.

NOTE: Remember to secure the tank latches on both sides of the tank and check they are secure before lifting the tank.

carpet cleaning

Plug the device into a suitable power outlet and press the on/off button on the front of the handle.

Tilt the handle by pushing the lever on the back of the machine behind the 2-in-1 water tank. cleaning strokes. While pulling the trigger, make a slow wet pass forward and another back. Warning: do not overwet. Be careful not to drive over loose objects or edges of carpets. Binding of the brush can lead to premature belt failure.

NOTE: Your machine is equipped with a circuit breaker that will automatically shut off the brush if a large or loose object gets caught in the brush roll. In this case, unplug the device, remove the foreign object, and then plug the device back in to reset the circuit breaker.

Release the trigger and slowly sweep back and forth over the same area once to dislodge dirty water residue and aid in drying. Repeat the cleaning passes until the solution pulled up appears clean. Continue the passes without pulling the trigger until you can no longer see water being pulled up.

Cleaning with attachments

Your deep cleaner comes with a hose and at least one attachment for cleaning stairs, upholstery, and more.

Important! If you use it to clean upholstery, check the upholstery labels before cleaning.

Before cleaning, check the manufacturer’s label. “W” or “WS” on the label means you can use your deep cleaner. If the label is coded with an “X” or “S” (with a diagonal stripe running through it) or says “Dry Clean Only,” do not proceed with a deep cleaning machine. Do not use on velvet or silk.

If the manufacturer’s plate is missing or not coded, contact your furniture retailer.

Test for color fastness in an inconspicuous area. If possible, check upholstery filling. Colored fill may bleed through fabric when wet. Plan activities to give the upholstery time to dry. Before deep cleaning, pick up loose dirt, debris, and pet hair.

Follow the instructions on page 6 to fill the 2-in-1 water tank.

The machine is equipped with an automatic switch. To clean with the hose, simply lock the device in an upright position.

Attach the cleaning tool to the end of the hose.

Plug in the power switch and turn it on.

NOTE: For Stain Catcher Tool and 3-N-1 Tool instructions, see pages 9 and 10.

Clean by pressing the trigger to spray solution onto the area to be cleaned. Slowly move the tool back and forth across the soiled surface. Release the trigger to vacuum up dirty water. Continue cleaning the area in small increments until no more dirt can be removed. Rinse (optional) and aspirate as needed. Warning: do not overwet.

Remove tools and rinse under clean, running water. Dry and reattach to the end of the hose.

It is recommended to siphon clean water from a bowl to flush out the hose.

Before reconnecting, lift and stretch the end of the hose to ensure all water is removed from the hose.

Wrap the flexible hose around the hose holder.

Drain and rinse 2-in-1 water tank according to instructions on page 11.

3-N-1 stair tool

Attach the tool to the end of the hose. Rotate the tool head to the desired setting:

The flat edge can be used to clean flat areas. The pointed edge can be used to clean crevices. The notched edge can be used to clean curved areas

Make sure the spray tip of the tool is pointing down. Press the trigger and slowly move the tool back and forth across the stained area. Release the trigger to vacuum up water and dirt. To clean the tool, simply remove the tool from the end of the hose and rinse with water. The front faceplate of the tool can also be removed and flushed for easy cleaning. Remove the tank from the base of the machine by lifting up on the tank carrying handle. Carry it like a bucket to a sink or outside where you dispose of the dirty water. Unlock the top of the tank from the bottom by lifting the tank latches on either side of the tank. Remove the top of the tank by lifting the handle. Empty the pet hair basket by sliding it towards the front of the tank and lifting.

Replace pet hair basket before storing/continuing cleaning.

Lift the bottom of the tank; Pour dirty water into the sink through the rectangular opening in the corner of the tank.

NOTE: You may notice deposits of hair and dirt on the carpet or in the tank that have been loosened by the cleaning action. This waste should be collected and disposed of. Check the red lint filter near the duct on the back of the machine base for debris and remove before proceeding.

Fill the high capacity bladder with clean, hot tap water (max 60°C) following the instructions on page 6.

NOTE: Remember to secure and test the tank latches to ensure they are secure before lifting the tank.

Rinse with water (recommended). Wash

is an optional step that can be performed during the cleaning process or after the carpet area is finished. Deflate the high-capacity bladder when needed and only refill with hot tap water.

Replace the tank on the machine. Make sure to throw a forward (wet) punch by pulling the trigger and a backward (wet) punch, followed by a forward and backward (dry) punch, releasing the trigger. Continue doing this until the water you see coming out of the nozzle is clear. (See page 13 for more device care tips.)

stain removal

Don’t delay! Taking care of an accident soon after it occurs ensures optimal cleaning. Leaving it for a long period of time can cause it to harden and become permanent.

Blot up liquids with an absorbent cloth or paper towels. White materials are recommended as certain dyes may bleed and worsen the stain. Gently scrape up any semi-solids with a spoon or spatula. Do not use a knife or other sharp-edged utensil as this may damage the carpet or upholstery. If the area has already dried, separate and remove all accessible semi-solids and debris from the carpet before deep cleaning. Test all stain removal formulas on an inconspicuous area first. This is important as some dyes and materials could be damaged or discolored by cleaning solutions. Should such a change occur, try another solution or contact a professional. When cleaning Berber rugs, gently run your machine over a hidden area. If no lint appears, continue cleaning the soiled area. Spray the BISSELL Stain Pretreat evenly over the stained area. Don’t get wet. Wait 3-5 minutes. Gently work the solution in by patting the area with a clean, damp, stain-proof cloth. Machine clean large areas or use the hose to clean stains, stains and hard-to-reach areas.

machine storage

After cleaning is complete, ensure the 2-in-1 water tank is emptied, rinsed and dried before next use.

NOTE: Store the cleaner in a protected, dry place. Because this product uses water, it must not be stored where there is a risk of freezing. Freezing will damage internal components and void the warranty.

Maintenance & Care

For best results, a few simple steps can ensure your machine is well maintained after cleaning is complete.

Flush your machine of any remaining residual solution. Fill the 2-in-1 water tank with clean, hot tap water. Tilt the handle back and squeeze the spray trigger for 15 seconds while moving forward and backward on the carpet. Release the trigger to suck. Repeat for another 15 seconds. Continue without pressing the trigger until no more water is drawn in. Press the power button to turn off the device. Disconnect the device from the mains and wrap up the power cord. Empty dirty water or residual solution and clean water from the 2-in-1 tank. Rinse the 2-in-1 water tank with hot tap water, making sure to clean under and around the high-performance bladder. The upper half of the tank can be flushed clean through the nozzle area. Clean the red filter of any debris that may have accumulated. Keeping the 2-in-1 water tank away from the base of the machine, simply remove the floorhead by turning the locking keys (see image for location) to the ‘unlock’ position and lifting. Rinse the floor nozzle on the tap. Loose hair or debris can be pulled off the brush rolls and discarded. For the most thorough cleaning before storage, follow the instructions below to remove and replace the brush rolls and belts on pages 14 and 15. Replace the nozzle by aligning the pawls with their slots and snapping the nozzle and end caps back onto the Put foot from The machine. Secure it by turning the locking keys to the “lock” position. To clean any used attachments, remove them from the hose and rinse under clean, running water. Dry the attachment and put it back in the hose holder. Clean the hose by siphoning clean water from the faucet. Before reinserting, lift and stretch the end of the hose to ensure all water is removed from the hose. See page 8. To clean the suction diverter, remove the two screws on the back of the diverter housing. Take the diverter housing to a sink and rinse with water. Be sure to remove any debris that can build up and cause a clog. Reinstall the idler housing and the two screws. After the carpet is dry, vacuum again to remove hair and lint.

Remove and replace drive belt

Occasionally it may be necessary to replace one or both belts. If this is required, please follow the instructions below.

Switch off the device and pull the plug out of the socket. Remove the 2-in-1 water tank. Put aside. Remove the nozzle and end caps by following the instructions in step 5 on page 13. Turn the machine on its side.

IMPORTANT: Cord side up. Remove 1 silver screw from swing arm. Remove swivel arm by lifting slightly. Remove and replace the drive belt by attaching it first to the small drive wheel and then to the end of the inner brush.

Liquid Connection Point Filter Maintenance

Periodic cleaning of the fluid connection point in the spray nozzle may be required.

To clean the fluid port, remove and invert the nozzle. Clean the filter at the end of the fluid connection point with a small paper clip and reattach the nozzle to the machine.

Brush removal and brush belt replacement

Brushes can be removed for cleaning or replacement as needed.

Follow the drive belt removal instructions on page 14. Remove the brushrolls by pulling them off the metal bars. Be careful not to lose the small washer on each end of the brushrolls. Replace the brush belt if necessary. Place cleaned or new brushrolls back onto the rods. Make sure there is a washer on each end of the casters before sliding them onto the bar. Be sure to slide the rod through the bushing to ensure proper seating. Reattach the brush belt to the gears on the small roller brushes on the underside. Replace the drive belt by following step 8 on page 14. Place the swing arm and screw it with the silver screw. Replace the nozzle by aligning the pawls with their slots and replacing the nozzle on the base of the machine. Secure it by turning the locking keys to the “lock” position.

If you have questions or are having trouble installing or replacing your belts or brushes, please contact BISSELL Customer Service.
