I ordered a size 37 and went down a full size because the Balenciaga Triple S sneakers seem to be larger. So I have to say the advice to go a whole size down was spot on because these are a perfect fit.

Again I’m usually a 7.5 – 8 and I go these in a US 7 or EU 37 and they are absolutely perfect.

But why?

When I tried these on, a 44 was good, but I had room and my foot shifted around a bit. So I had to downsize because I wanted a snug fit and better grip on my foot.

Also, the Triple S is big, and the bigger the shoe, the more it will move, and the closer you can clip it to your foot, the better it will be for walking and for your foot’s internal comfort.

Because of this, I strongly recommend decreasing the size rather than increasing the size.

Sadly, as far as size goes, the Balenciaga Speed ​​Trainer seems to have run large. I went for size 42 which is a size 9 on US men which is my true size and it fit large.

It was definitely workable like I could put on an extra pair of socks and I would be able to walk.

But if I had had the opportunity to go back and do it again I probably would have gone with the size 41 instead of 42 which would have fit me better.

Sizing on this shoe kind of makes sense as there are no laces to tighten the trainers, so you want to make sure you get a size that will definitely stay on your foot.

So it makes sense to go down a size just to make sure your foot doesn’t slip out of the shoe with every step.

But as I always suggest, if you’ve had a chance to try this shoe on first before you buy it, do so especially if you’re about to drop $780 on it.

I ordered exactly the same model and color except one is EU 39 and one is EU 40. I’ve found that even though you’re a size 39, a size 40 can still fit you because the upper is made of an unstructured knit material that can stretch with your foot.

However, it is better to size down and adjust the upper to fit your foot because if the shoe is a little too big for you, the upper will fold and look ugly on your foot.

I’m usually a size 40. After trying on both sizes, I found that the 39 fits about three-quarters a size larger, if I’m to be exact.

But because the Speed ​​Runners are unstructured and inherently very stretchy, it doesn’t matter if you run up to your true size or go down a size. It still fits your feet but for me I preferred the size 39 over the 40 a bit.

Because they are wide through the toe box meaning you have plenty of room for your foot especially if you have narrow feet I feel these run so large.

Even though they say these are true to size, I would still recommend going one size down.

If there is a Balenciaga store nearby, you should definitely try them on before you buy them. But if that’s not an option, I would definitely say that you need to go down a size because the Balenciaga Track sneakers run large.

In this section, I’m going to let you know what you need to know about one of Balenciaga’s best-selling shoes, the Triple S, before you hit the buy button.

The number on the front of the shoe indicates the shoe size only. So 36 is just the European size.

Difficult

The Tripe S look heavy and are ridiculously heavy, meaning it’ll take you a couple of weeks to get used to them.

So if you don’t like heavy shoes, the Balenciaga Triple S is probably not for you.

Another thing is because the Triple S’s are heavy, you’re likely to bang them up, which is common for a lot of people. This creates marks on the midsole that are incredibly difficult to remove.

So when you walk, actively try not to clench your heels and if you feel like you are, don’t worry, but try not to do it all the time.

Another thing is you don’t have to use those lace holes on the side. You can use them, but they’re not really how you should tie the laces.

What I would recommend with the Triple S is to go a full size down. I went down the size because I like my shoes to be moderately snug, not too snug but quite snug.

They will fit looser if you stick to the right size, but I would definitely recommend going a full size down.

Wear

Spots on the shoe that wear easily are three spots.

The first part is the heel. Because they are heavy, you tend to slide your shoe on the floor. So if you find yourself kicking your shoes down the middle, try not to.

Another part that’s more prone to premature wear is inside the shoe at the heel, especially when you take your shoes off with the other foot.

The other part is the Triple S logo on the tongue. It wouldn’t be so bad if it was white. But where it’s black, when you tie your laces, your laces rub against that piece of rubber and it comes off.

Maybe tuck your laces in, or just don’t keep your laces tight on this logo because it wears out quickly.

Outsole vs Stones

A final issue is that the rocks actually get caught in the ridges of the outsole. If you leave them in, they can damage the outsole quite badly.

So what I would say is check your shoes every time you wear them and if you see a rock in it, it’s easy to take it out.

Saddened

There are a few Triple S couples who are desperate. So if you get a pair and they have white pieces and you think it’s from the store you bought the shoes from, it’s not. This is how they should look.

Expensive

The Triple S will cost you quite a bit of money. There are definitely better shoes you can get for the same price in my opinion.

So if you really want them, I would say go for it. If you don’t, or are a bit hesitant, I’d say maybe save your money and buy something else, or wait until something you really want comes up.

There are many different ways to lace Doc Martens. It’s even popular to wear them with the laces only through the bottom four or so eyelets.

However, to make your boots fit better and feel more comfortable, we recommend the ladder lacing method shown below by Eric Evans.

When you get new laces for your Dr. Martens shoes, you can find them in many colors on Amazon.

1. Pass one end of the lace from the bottom of the hole through one of the bottom eyelet holes

2. Pull the laces up and through the top of the opposite side

Your shoelace should emerge from the top of each eyelet, and the bottom of the shoelace should be significantly longer than the top.

3. Return to the bottom of the tip

Thread the lace through the opposite side from the top of the eyelet hole, then bring it back to the starting side.

Slip the lace through the bottom of the next eyelet hole, then pull to tighten.

4. Repeat the process until your boots are laced up

Unfortunately Eric has removed his video showing how the ladder lacing method is performed. However, the following video is just as good.

• Although these laces are a bit more difficult to tighten, this can actually help get the laces really tight as the lower sections hold tighter as the shoe is pulled up. This makes it a great lacing for hiking boots, ice skates, etc.

• This lacing really comes into its own on tall boots with lots of eyelets, especially if contrasting laces are used.

• Variant 2 finishes with lace locks where the ends are once again passed under the vertical sections on opposite sides before tying in the middle. This looks consistent and provides additional streamlining.

• At the top, the ends can optionally be passed under the vertical sections again before they are knotted (see variant 2).

• On each pair of eyelets, the ends pass straight over each other and pass under the vertical lace sections on the opposite side before passing straight up and through the next higher pair of eyelets. Repeat until lacing is complete.

• The ends are fed straight up the sides and through the next higher eyelets.

Much better than the plain white laces that came with these sneakers.

On the other hand, this variant is inherently more difficult to lace and more difficult to tighten and loosen.

As suggested by Tim G., lacing this method inside out offers the benefits of security + shortening of the ends while hiding the visual complexity of the loop-unders. The result is a very clean look that’s sort of a cross between criss cross lacing and straight bar lacing.

NOTE: These are approximate lace lengths for using this lacing on an average sized sneaker. For more accurate lengths, use the shoelace length calculator.

I’m a 53 year old combat veteran and have always, always, always laced my shoes and boots in the most basic of ways. I’ve recently started experimenting and looking for the best ways to lace up tactical boots, easy to put on, easy to remove, sturdiest/safest, etc. I have to say, with the low-top boots I usually wear, I am End longer leftover laces. All in all, I opted for the ladder lacing. This method uses a little more lace and I can tighten it nicely. Okay, professor laces… Well, one thing about ladder lacing is that some might not like the look with all the fuss on the outside. … I have another method for ladder lacing, and perhaps it would just be called “inner ladder lacing.” It’s a ladder lacing but on the bottom instead of the outside. The Canadian Armed Forces still use ladder lacing on the ankle boots and cross laces on the combat boots, but always with a tip that always runs up to make it easy to unclip the boot with a knife to have an injured foot examined. I find ladder lacing easier to put on than criss-cross. It allows me to set the correct tension on each pair of eyelets, and since it locks into place with every step, that stays put as I walk up the shoe. After severely spraining my ankle in my work boots last week, I revisited your website and discovered “ladder lacing”. I found it perfect for getting a pinpoint adjustment all the way up. However, my real enjoyment of the method is only hinted at in Step 4 of the technique notes: Not only is the top pair of eyelets interlocked, but each pair of eyelets is – as I match them from the bottom up and the standing parts draw tightly under the bend just below. Just like the eyelets on some hiking boots; but obviously better locking and much gentler on the laces. All of which puts it comfortably in the “suit aids” category for me. Almost all of my shoes now have ladder lacing as all of my shoes have unusually long laces for some reason. I also discovered by accident that ladder lacing combines PERFECTLY with lock lacing. Because the ladder lacing forms loops between all the eyelets, you can use the last one as a closure lacing. Incidentally, I found the ladder lacing easier to tighten than most other methods. Eyelet-to-eyelet vertical loops provide a clean grip for grabbing. To tighten a section, simply grab these loops, then pull them toward the center of the shoe, then back out to the sides. The inward pull causes the next lower loops to tighten, and the outward pull takes up the slack. I can tighten the whole shoe with three or four back and forth movements.
