Solution 1: Delete data for badge providers (Samsung devices only)

Badge Provider is a system app that determines how message notifications are displayed on your device. If for some reason your device is showing the wrong number of unread messages, Badge Provider may be the culprit. You need to delete the data files and restart the device to fix the problem.

You will not lose critical data if you delete the badge provider data files. The app is only found on Samsung devices, so skip this solution and move on to the next one if you’re using a different device.

Sending email and text messages to your iPhone is a fast and efficient way to receive communication. But there are times when you read a message and realize you can’t or don’t want to reply until later. The last thing you want is to forget to reply to a business message and let it fall through the cracks. Ideally, the best option is to mark these messages as unread messages. While you can do this in email on iPhones as far back as the iPhone X operating systems, it’s still not possible for texts. You need a workaround.

Mark email as unread

Open your iMail app on your iPhone. Depending on your settings and the number of email accounts you have forwarded to your phone, you may see the Mailboxes page or be taken directly to your email inbox. The Mailboxes page lists the email accounts configured on your phone and contains a number of unread messages marked in gray next to the arrow to open that inbox. When you open the inbox, you’ll see unread messages marked with a blue dot to the left of the sender’s name.

Where are Google Chrome bookmarks stored in macOS?

Google Chrome saves its bookmarks in the “Application Support” directory in macOS. You can find this directory via “Terminal”. You need to set your file browser to show hidden folders in macOS.

Enter the command line: /Users//Library/Application Support/Google/Chrome/Default. Press Enter and Finder will access your bookmarks folder.

If the folder is hidden, you can still access it using the Finder. Here’s what you should do:

Open Finder.

Navigate to Users//.

If you don’t see a “Library” directory, press “Command + Shift + Period” to turn off hidden folders. Alternatively, if you want to access the “Library” files directly, hold down the “Alt” key before selecting the “Go” menu.

Go to “Library > Application Support”.

Search and click “Google”.

Now click on “Chrome”.

Open the Defaults folder.

You should now see a “Bookmarks” file that contains all of your Chrome bookmarks and a “Bookmarks.bak” file that acts as a backup.

Where are Google Chrome bookmarks stored in Linux?

If you are using Linux, you can access the files using two methods.

Option 1: Use the terminal on Linux

Press Ctrl + Alt + T to open Terminal.

In the terminal window, enter this path:

/home//.config/google-chrome/Default/

Or, depending on the Chrome version you’re using, you might need this path instead:

/home//.config/chromium/Default/

Press “Enter” and you will access the folder with your bookmark file.

If you cannot access the file path/folder, you need to click “Show hidden files” in the file browser menu.

Option 2: Use a file browser directly

Various file browsers are available to you depending on your Linux tastes, such as Nautilus (default in Ubuntu), Dolphin (popular on various Linux systems), Thumar, Konqueror, Krusader, etc.

Open the file browser of your choice. The default might be the best option based on predefined permissions. Open Home > [your username] > .config > google-chrome > Default. Change “google-chrome” to “chromium” in your breadcrumbs if you’re using a Chromium browser version instead. The Bookmarks and Bookmarks.bak files should appear in the Default folder.

Export Chrome bookmarks as HTML file

If you don’t want to navigate through hidden and system files, you can still get to your Google Chrome bookmarks by exporting them as an HTML file.

To export your Chrome bookmarks, you need to do the following:

Open “Google Chrome”.

Click the “three vertical dots” in the top-right corner of the Chrome window.

Hover over the Bookmark option.

Click Bookmark Manager.

Click the Organize icon (the three vertical white dots).

Click Export Bookmarks. Now you can choose a destination folder for your file.

Importing this file into another browser is easy.

Follow steps 1-5 and click “Import” instead of “Export”. Then select the destination of the file and click “Open”. This action adds all saved bookmarks to the existing ones.
