Limited Warranty and InstantExchange Program Details
Canon U.S.A., Inc. Limited Warranty — (USA only)
The Limited Warranty set forth below is made by Canon U.S.A., Inc. (“8220; Canon USA”) with respect to the new or refurbished Canon-branded product (“Product”) packaged with this Limited Warranty when in the USA purchased and used United States only.
The Product is warranted against defects in materials and workmanship under normal use and service for a period of (a) one (1) year from the date of original purchase when delivered to you in new condition in its original packaging, or (b ) for (1) year from the original date of purchase for refurbished products. Products returned to a Canon USA repair facility or Canon USA Authorized Service Facility (“ASF”) and found upon inspection to be defective will be (a) repaired using new, remanufactured, repaired and/or recycled parts ( b) exchanged new or; (c) exchanged for a refurbished product as determined by the Canon USA repair facility or the ASF. Warranty repair or replacement does not extend the original warranty period of the product. A dated proof of purchase is required at the time of warranty service. A copy of your dated bill of sale will suffice for this requirement. This warranty does not apply to accessories or consumables such as paper or ink cartridges, which are not guaranteed or replaced.
This limited warranty applies only when the product is used in conjunction with compatible computers, peripherals, and software. Canon USA assumes no responsibility for such items, except for compatible Canon-branded peripherals which are covered by a separate warranty (“Separate Warranty”). Repairs of such Canon-branded peripherals are subject to the terms of the separate warranty. Non-Canon equipment and software that may be distributed with the product are sold “as is” and without warranty of any kind from Canon USA, including any implied warranties of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose, and all such Guarantees are excluded. The only warranty, if any, with respect to such non-Canon branded items is given by their manufacturer or manufacturers.
This limited warranty covers any defect arising from normal use of the product and does not apply in the following cases:
Loss of or damage to the Product due to misuse, neglect, mishandling, improper packaging by you, alteration, accident, power fluctuations, abuse, misuse, failure to follow the operating or maintenance instructions or the environmental conditions prescribed in the Canon USA User Guide, or other documentation or services provided performed by anyone other than a Canon USA repair facility or ASF. Without limiting the foregoing, product drops, scratches, and abrasions are deemed to have resulted from misuse, abuse, or failure to use the product as described in the user manual or other documentation for the product. Use of any parts, media, software, or consumables (other than those sold by Canon USA), including non-Canon ink cartridges or refilled ink cartridges, that damage the product or cause unusually frequent service calls or service problems. If the serial number or dating of the product has been defaced, altered or removed.
ANY SYSTEM SOFTWARE (WHETHER FACTORY LOADED ON THE PRODUCT OR INCLUDED ON THE SOFTWARE DISKS OR CD-ROMS ACCOMPANYING OR ACCOMPANYING THE PRODUCT) AND ANY UTILITIES DISTRIBUTED WITH OR FOR THE PRODUCT ARE SOLD “AS IS” AND WITHOUT WARRANTY BY CANON USA. THE SOLE WARRANTY REGARDING THIS SOFTWARE IS CONTAINED IN THE SOFTWARE MANUFACTURER’S LICENSE AGREEMENT WHICH IS DISTRIBUTED WITH IT, INCLUDING ALL LIMITATIONS AND DISCLAIMERS THEREOF. PLEASE CONTACT CANON USA IMMEDIATELY IF YOU HAVE NOT RECEIVED A COPY OF THE SOFTWARE MANUFACTURER’S LICENSE AGREEMENT.
No tacit guarantee, including any tacit guarantee of marketability or suitability for a specific purpose, applies to the product according to the application of the above -mentioned express limited warranty and no other express guarantees or guarantees, except as mentioned above, any person is given or COMPANIES REGARDING THE PRODUCT UNDERTAKE CANON USA OR ITS ASF. Canon USA Carry-In/Mail-In Service provides repair or replacement at Canon USA’s option through Canon USA’s Authorized Service Facility (ASF) network. The name and phone number of the ASF(s) in your area can be obtained by visiting the Canon USA website at www.canontechsupport.com or by calling the Canon USA Customer Care Center at 1-800-828-4040 or by calling a person at any time technical support. A product covered by this Limited Warranty will be repaired or replaced, as determined by Canon USA, and returned by ASF free of charge.
InstantExchange Service**
A Canon Customer Service Center or ASF technician will attempt to diagnose the nature of the problem and, if possible, resolve it over the phone. If the issue cannot be resolved over the phone and you choose the InstantExchange option, you will be assigned a reference number. You will be asked for the product serial number and other information about your product, as well as a delivery location for the replacement product (must include address).
Canon USA repair facility will ship replacement product prepaid by Canon USA. Upon receipt of the replacement product (with instructions and a bill of lading prepaid), follow the enclosed instructions to ship your product to the Canon USA repair facility. Your product must be returned in the same shipping box that the replacement product was packaged in and must include the reference number, a COPY OF YOUR DATED PROOF OF PURCHASE (BOOK OF PURCHASE) and a full explanation of the problem.
