Gear oil weight for Dana 70

oh no the link was a shame lmao.don’t pay attention to the forum name.sounds right.according to post #5 there.iv read that a lot.just add the LS Friction Juice as needed.this ensures the LS actually works.it seems to be the general consensus that the recommended amount doesn’t grab the clutches like they should and in some cases behave like a standard open diff. However, I never had an LS diff. But if I did, I’d add it slowly and go around in circles and a few miles down the road and in circles again.

Dana 70 oil weight? (also, gaskets)

chillman88 said: No Dana 70 experience here but if it’s your RV I’d just put some 75w-140 plastic in it. Capacity should be the same or very similar, axles should be very similar regardless of brand. I would plan to change your seals soon, I’d bet they will start leaking with new fluid, just seems to be my luck anyway. Click to expand…

Yes, the mobile home. I thought 75w140 sounded right. Another question, a little off topic but still related to the task…does anyone happen to know what the difference is between the black diff cover gasket and the blue one, both of which were made by Fel-Pro? They are identical except for the color and the price? Is the black one thicker or something? Seems odd that they would bother to make two identical pieces but in different colors and one twice the price. Do you still have to use RTV for this?
