A controller of this size is typically paired with a small 2-5 hp motor. 5. Golf cart magnet

Solenoids act as relays/switches between your golf cart batteries and your golf cart starter/alternator or traction motor. Think of a solenoid as the gatekeeper of battery power. It allows (or prevents) current to flow to your car’s starter/alternator to start your engine (for petrol cars). With electric carts, it works the same way, except the solenoid may or may not allow power to the traction motor (instead of the starter).

Solenoids in golf carts are designed to operate the entire time you are depressing the pedal when accelerating/driving. This means that solenoids are working hard all the time; so they tend to go bad. It’s just a fact of life! Standard golf cart battery cables are 6 gauge. Heavy-duty battery cables are available in 4-gauge and 2-gauge sizes. When purchasing battery cables, remember that the smaller the wire gauge, the thicker the wire.
