Complaining may feel good, but literally no progress is made. It also shows that you are dissatisfied with Allah’s qadr (destiny) that He has ordained for you.
All of us in life will go through good times and bad, the only thing we must not do is complain. There is another saying that whatever you focus on will be true for you.
You can probably find a million ways you’ve been scammed and no one denies those things didn’t happen. But what can you do today to change the past? Feeling bad about yourself or feeling sorry for yourself doesn’t do you justice. Instead, how about learning from the past and thanking Allah for the lesson we can learn from those experiences? It really is a blessing from Allah, we just have to see it as such.
If instead you rearrange the question and ask how He has blessed you, you have a million different reasons to praise Him. Learn to thank Allah from the smallest things like the lace on your shoe to bigger things like your health, wealth and family.
Allah is not limited, He is the Most Gracious and Merciful. You can ask for all your heart’s desires (as long as it’s allowed). What we need to keep in mind is to desire something and invoke Allah, but then have a firm expectation of the result.

Pogrebin casts a wide net in her book, offering suggestions for a number of difficult situations, including how to remember which friend has which health problem – an increasingly common occurrence for people in their seventies age group. She writes about showing compassion for someone with Alzheimer’s, people with a terminal illness, and—in a chapter titled “As Bad As It Gets”—for parents who have lost a child to disease.
She also offers some alternatives to that knee-jerk phrase, “Let me know if there’s anything I can do,” which prompts the patient or family to ask for needed help, which they may feel embarrassed about.

We resort to clichés like “I’m sure you’ll be fine” because they allow us to distance ourselves from our discomfort. For the sick, however, it only sounds dismissive.

Situations where your dua is accepted
The scholars have mentioned that when you are in one of the following situations, it is ideal for your dua to be accepted.
A person wronged or oppressed.
A person going through great difficulties after a disaster.
A person who travels.
A person who is fasting.
A woman in labor.
A person who has recited or finished the Qur’an.
A person who performs Hajj or Umrah.
A person who makes dua for someone in their absence (when you make dua for someone in their absence, an angel says, “Ameen and to you”).
A person who is frequently in a state of remembrance of Allah.
A person who is a just ruler.
Times when your dua is accepted
Scholars have mentioned these times as best for accepting Dua and are the Sunnah of Prophet PBUH.
The early morning hours (the last part of the night until the start of Fajr – divide the night into three parts between Maghrib and Fajr).
After the Adhan.
During salah (when a slave is closest to his master in a state of prostration or before the end of salah after the completion of tashahhud).

Requirements for your dua to be accepted
“Verily Allah is pure and accepts nothing but what is pure. And verily Allah commanded the believers what He commanded the Messengers, for He Most High said: ‘O Messengers! ‘” (Quran 23:51)
It is mentioned that certain requirements should be met in order for our Duas to be answered:
Your income must be legal.
Your food must be pure and halal.
You must do penance (do tawba) for your sins.
You should remove all unlawful things from your life.
Make sure you do the basics: pray five times a day, pay zakat, fast in Ramadan, etc.
You should do dua with sincerity and a focused mind and heart.
You should feel with absolute conviction that Allah SWT will answer your dua and no one but He can answer. The Prophet said:
“Call upon Allah while firmly believing that He will answer, and realize that Allah does not answer the dua that emanates from a heedless, unobservant heart.” (Tirmidhi)
Giving the thing asked for, ward off the harm that would otherwise have befallen a person, or as a gift that awaits the person in the next life (this is the best form of Dua answered as mentioned in Hadith Ahmed) .
Performing a good deed before your dua and saying it during your dua (as was done by the three men trapped in a cave by a large rock: each of them made a dua and mentioned a good deed, and the Rocks moved a little with each dua until they could escape – Sahih Bukhari).

Begin your dua by:
Confirmation of your belief in Allah SWT – Shahadah.
Asking him for forgiveness – Istighfar.
Praise Allah SWT – Al-Hamd.
Sending blessings upon the Prophet PBUH – Salawaat.
The Prophet said:
“Indeed, all praise is due to Allah. We praise Him and ask Him for help and forgiveness. We seek refuge in Allah from the evils of our souls and our misdeeds. Whom Allah guides, no one can mislead; no one can lead.” (Muslim)
Here is an example of how to prepare for Dua:
Say the Shahada – I testify that there is no god but Allah alone without a partner and I testify that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger.
Say Astaghfirullah x 3 – I ask forgiveness from Allah.
Say Alhumdulillah x 3 – praise be to God.
Say Subhanallah x 3 Glory to God.
Say Allahu Akbar x 3 – God is great.
Say Salallahu Alayhi Wassalam x 3 – Peace and blessings be upon His Messenger.
Invoke Allah with longing, longing and humiliation using His best name Al-Hayy (The Ever-Living) Al-Qayyum (The Self-Sustaining).
Express your need for Him and place all your hope in Him alone.
Tell your Lord that you have no one to turn to and follow the Sunnah to raise your hands when making dua, ideally in the state of wudu and facing the qibla.
Allah SWT says:
“Call upon your Lord with utmost humility and confidentiality” (Quran 7:55)
He SWT also says:
“And invoke Him with fear and longing: Verily Allah’s mercy is near to men of excellence.” (Quran 7:56)
Remember…
We should not have fear in our hearts that our dua will not be answered because of our shortcomings or because we feel that we don’t deserve it.
We are told that our “longing” for Allah to answer our dua out of His boundless generosity and mercy should overcome this fear.
Invoking Allah SWT for our needs is an act of worship and Allah loves to be invoked.
It is the shaytaan’s ruse when he makes us believe that we are not worthy of our dua being accepted. Make sure you have that frame of mind that makes you think you are humble when in fact you are too arrogant to ask your Lord for help. After all we are nothing without Allah SWT so do we really think we don’t need to ask for His help? Prophet PBUH taught us that Dua is:
“The Essence of Worship.” (Tirmidhi)
We should be patient and realize that Allah SWT fully knows our problems and is in full control of our circumstances. He will respond to our dua based on what is best for us and at the most appropriate time.
We must persist in our dua and not give up if we don’t get an immediate response.
When our dua is answered, we should remember that Allah SWT knows what is best for us, even if we don’t like the result at first.
The Prophet said:
“The slave will be answered as long as his dua does not involve sin or breaking family ties, and as long as he is not hasty. It was said, ‘What does being hasty mean?’ He said, ‘When he says, ‘I made dua, and I made dua, but I didn’t see any reaction,’ so he gets frustrated and stops making dua .'” (Sahih Muslim)
Allah SWT says:
“Perhaps you would hate something while it is good for you, and perhaps you would like something that is bad for you – Allah knows and you do not know.” (Quran 2:216)
He SWT also says:

What is Shifa in Islam?
Shafa’ah (Arabic: شفاعه, “intercession”) in Islam is the act of pleading to God by an intimate friend of God (a Muslim saint) for forgiveness of a believing sinner.

The word Shafa’ah comes from shaf (شَّفْعُ) which means even as opposed to odd. The intercessor therefore adds his own recommendation to that of the supplicant, so that two persons – an even number – ask for forgiveness. The prestige of the intercessor reinforces the otherwise weak plea of the sinner.[1] Accordingly, shafa’ah is a form of prayer to God by one close to Him on behalf of a member of the believing community seeking deliverance from eternal damnation (though not necessarily temporary punishment).[2][3]

Verses in the Qur’an dealing with intercession can be divided into three different categories.
The first type refuses intercession altogether; below are the verses that speak of how
on the Day of Resurrection “there is no action, neither friendship nor intercession”, [a]
“the day when one soul will not benefit another in the slightest; neither will intercession be accepted on their behalf” (Q.2:48), [b]
when “there will be no savior for you from Allah” (Q.40:33). [c]
The day when it is said that none but Allah can harm or benefit people (Q.10:18).[d][1][3]
A second type says that there will be intercession, but only from God. These verses say that
there is “no watchman and no intercessor but God” (Q.32:4). [e] [f]
Another verse says, “Who is there that can intercede with Him except by His permission?” (F.2:255)[g][1]
A third type of condition is intercession on behalf of sinners by some types of people depending on His good pleasure. The verses that end with phrases like
“…there is no Advocate except by His leave” (Q.10:3), [h][3] or
or “…they do not intercede except for whom He approves, and they tremble for fear of Him” (Q.34:23).[i]
Verses 19:87 34:23 53:26 also cover the same term.[1][3]
The first type of verses mentioned above rejects intercession entirely, while the second type reserves it only for God. The third way, however, is that others can intervene with God’s permission. (The Wahhabism movement accepts belief in the Intercessor of Allah, but condemns as an infidel anyone who believes in the intercession of anyone other than God.)[3] However, according to Tabatabaie (1903–1981), the Qur’an is known for having first rejecting any virtue or perfection for anyone other than God; but then affirming the same virtue for others subject to His permission and pleasure.[1] To prove his point, Tabataba’i brings up the following similar verse in which first (in the first verse) the Quran says that only God knows unseen, then (in the second verse) the Quran affirms it for others as well: “And with Him are the keys of the unseen, none knows them but He.”[j] “[S]o He reveals His mysteries to none save him whom He chooses to be an apostle.”[k][1]
The following is another example of this type of tabataba’i: “…they will be in the fire; […] abide therein as long as the heavens and the earth endure, except as pleases your Lord; surely your Lord is the (mighty) Executor of what He intends. And those who are made happy shall be in the garden and dwell therein as long as heaven and earth exist, unless it pleases your Lord; a gift that will never be cut short of”.[l][1]
Intercession in Hadith[ edit ]
The principle of intercession is mentioned in some of Muhammad’s statements, for example when he said: “I have received five gifts from God, [one of which] is intercession, which I have in store for my church. My intercession is for those who have not associated a partner with God.”[6]
In another situation, the Prophet says, “My intercession is especially with the evildoers of major sins in my community.” According to Tabatabaie, the reason why “major sins” are mentioned in this hadith is because the Qur’an has already promised that God their minor sins would be forgiven if people avoided major sins (Qur’an, 4:31), so that there would be no need for the minor sins to be forgiven.[6]
It is also narrated from Ibn Abbas from the Prophet who said that the believers too could intercede for their brothers, which is a kind of praying on one’s own behalf. It says: “If a Muslim dies and forty believers in the unity of God pray for him, God accepts their prayers for him.”[6]
Intercession in Creeds
The basis for the “common belief” that “all but the most sinful” will be saved from Hellfire through Muḥammad’s intercession and God’s mercy in the last days is a story from “the Confessions of Faith (aqeedah) of al-Ash’arī, al Nasafī, al-Tahāwī and Abu Ḥanīfa”:
Then the prophet says to God, please hasten the judgment for my church. He continues to intervene until he obtains a document for those sent to the fire. The owner of the place where the fire is kept will say: O Muhammad, have you left no fuel for the wrath of your Lord?[8]
The “fuel for the wrath of your Lord” is everyone (Muslim) who is to be burned in the “fire of God’s avenging justice”. Their lack means that no one goes to hell.[7]
Objections to intercession and answers
Wahhabis take the intercession of God on the Day of Resurrection as positive and that of the Prophets and other Awliya as negative. In order to get closer to God, Wahhabis argue, abandoning the “nearer means” (God) and resorting to a “distant means” (other than God) is a form of polytheism.[9] They cite the following verse to prove that one should not resort to the intercession of anyone other than God even if he is the prophet of Islam since, they say, the premise of tawhid is that one should pray only to God should ask for help:[9]
They worship instead of Allah that which does not harm or benefit them, and they say: “These are our intercessors with Allah.”[m][9]
In response to this objection, it is said that “next to Allah” in this verse refers to the idols, not to human beings. According to Tabataba’i, the reality of asking for intercession is none other than asking for prayers from the intercessor, an example of which as narrated in the Qur’an is the story of the sons of Jacob when they asked their father to ask God for forgiveness from them . Jacob accepted her petition and promised to do so at the appointed time.[o][6]
According to the Quran, it is considered an act of hypocrisy and pride not to ask the Prophet to ask forgiveness for someone (who wronged themselves, they would only have come to you (Muhammad) and asked forgiveness from God , and had the Messenger asked forgiveness for them, they would have found God forgiving and merciful.”[p] The same thought was said in verse 63: 5.[6]
It has also been objected that if Allah had promised intercession or His prophets had brought this message to their nations, people would have been encouraged to disobey God’s commandments and that this is the whole purpose behind the institutions of prophethood and religion would have thwarted . To show his dislike of this argument, Tabatabaie asks: “What would you say about the verse that says: ‘Verily Allah does not forgive anything that is associated with Him, and forgives whatever is beyond whom He will'[ q] because ‘in cases of repentance even polytheism can be forgiven’.”[1]
Advocate[edit]
According to the Quran, the Prophets and Angels have the authority to intercede on behalf of the believing members of the Islamic community. According to Shia imams and other close friends of God, they could also intercede with God’s permission.[2][6][10]

[r] [3] On another occasion, the Qur’an addresses those who have been unjust to themselves by saying whether they had come to Muhammad and “Had they begged Allah’s forgiveness, and the Messenger had asked forgiveness for them – indeed they would have found Allah Forgiving, Merciful.”[3] Muhammad himself confirmed this type of intercession on many occasions, one of which was when he said, he would for the Day of Judgment “for everyone who has faith in his heart”.[6] The first documentary statement of Muhammad’s eschatological role appears in the Inscriptions of the Dome of the Rock in Jerusalem, completed 72/691-692.[11]

Angels too have the ability to intercede with God’s permission, as might be inferred from the verse stating that angelic intercession is useless “unless after God has given permission whom He chooses and accepts! [s] [6] Elsewhere it is noted that angels “ask forgiveness for those on earth”[t] and for “those who believe”.[u][1]
Imams (Shia view) [ edit ]
Belief in the intercession of Muhammad, affirmed by both Sunnis and Shia, extended to the imams among the Shia. For the Shia, salvation was based on true faith, but this was largely “measured by attachment to Ali and Ahl al-Bayt.” For example, in a Shia tradition attributed to Muhammad Muhammad al-Baqir, walayah over Ali is seen as the essential criterion of both faith and salvation.[2] In another Shia tradition, the Prophet declares that Walaya is a guarantee to himself and to the people of his house against entering the fire.[2] Ja’far al-Sadiq regards intercession as “one of the four unique tenets of faith demanded by the Shia”.[10]
According to Muhammad Baqir Majlisi, the Shia Imams are “the mediators between God and mankind. Except through their intercession, it is impossible for people to escape God’s punishment”.[2][12] Ibn Babuwaihi has also narrated from Ja’far al-Sadiq who said: Our responsibility to humanity is great indeed, for if we ask them to accept us they will not, and if we lead them their way let them go, they will find no other leaders.”[10]
It is also narrated by both Shias and Sunnis from the Prophet who said: “Whoever dies not knowing the Imam of his own time dies in the state of ignorance in which people died before the appointment of the Prophet of God.” This is because, according to the Shia, it is impossible to know God except through the acknowledgment of the Imams. Otherwise, people might “think of God as creating mankind and then leaving them helpless and not appointing an Imam for them,” so they would not see God as benevolent.[10]
Believers (Shia view): Shia traditions allow for the possibility that Shia believers themselves, like the Prophet and Imams, can act as intercessors for others; so that the Shia believers are seen as those who receive and grant intercession.[2] Some other traditions claim that Shias would be able to intercede for members of their family (ahl baytihim) or those who helped them in their lives.[2]
This type of intercession is viewed in parallel with the Sufi perspective, which also extended spiritual intercession to the realized saints. In contrast to Shias, however, Sufis do not extend the function of intercession to all devout Shias.[2]

What is Shifa in Islam?
Shafa’ah (Arabic: شفاعه, “intercession”) in Islam is the act of pleading to God by an intimate friend of God (a Muslim saint) for forgiveness of a believing sinner.

The word Shafa’ah comes from shaf (شَّفْعُ) which means even as opposed to odd. The intercessor therefore adds his own recommendation to that of the supplicant, so that two persons – an even number – ask for forgiveness. None of the 29 mentions of Shafa’ah on the Day of Judgment in the Qur’an explicitly include Muhammad or “the Office of the Prophet”. Nonetheless, belief in the intercession of Muhammad is a doctrine of both Sunni and Shia, supported by Hadith. Allah says in Sura Isrā’ (سورة الاسراء):
”
We send down in the Qur’an what is healing and mercy for the believers; and it only increases the wrongdoers in loss. 1
In other words, the Quran is not only a healing and shifa for the body, but also for the heart and soul. The Qur’an contains many things that guide man and bring about his salvation in this world and in the hereafter. In particular, Surah Fatiha, also known as al-Shifa (healing), can be recited when one is ill. Tradition has it that if you recite Surah Fatiha to a sick person, God wills that he be cured.
In another verse, God mentions the fact that the Qur’an heals for the heart:
يَا أَيُّهَ ا جَ جَ مِّن وَشِفَ وَشِفَ ِّمَ ِّمَ ا ا ِّ ِّ ِّ ِّ ﴿57﴾
O mankind! Counsel has surely come to you from your Lord, and a remedy for what is in the breasts, and guidance and mercy for the believers. 2
In fact, the Qur’an is a remedy for the ailments of the heart and soul. When one is sad and depressed, reciting verses from the Quran can lift one’s spirits. If one has jealousy in his heart, he can learn that jealousy benefits him nothing by reciting Surah Yusuf and reading the story of Prophet Joseph and how jealousy brought nothing but regret to the brothers of Joseph. And if one is in the habit of committing sins, he can recite verses promising painful punishment for sinners. Many other ailments of the heart can be healed by the Qur’an.
Shifa in the Qur’an: honey
God mentions one of the blessings He has bestowed on mankind through the honey bee, namely honey. Honey is referred to in the Qur’an as Shifa for humans:

And your Lord inspired the bee [and said]: ‘Build your home in the mountains and on the trees and the trellises that they make.

وَلَوْ جَعَلْنَ أَعْجَمِيًّأَعْجَمِيًّ َّقََّقَ َوْ آيَ قُ قُ قُ ِ ِ ِ ِ وَشِفَ وَ وَ َ َ آذَ آذَ عَ عَ عَ عَ أُو أُو يُنَ مَّكَ مَّكَ مَّكَ مَّكَ مَّكَ مَّكَ مَّكَ مِن مِن بَعِيدٍ﴿﴿ ﴿444
Had We made it a non-Arabic Qur’an, they would have said, ‘Why weren’t its signs articulated?’ ‘What! A non-Arabic [scripture] and an Arabic [prophet]!?” Say: “It is guidance and healing for those who have faith. But the unbelievers have deafness in their ears and lose their sight: [to them it is as if] they were being called from a far off place.” 4
Similar to the verses in Surah Yūnus and Surah Isrā’, this verse also states that the Qur’an is a remedy for the believers. In fact, the Quran is a source of healing and healing not only for the heart and mind but also for the body. Muslims seek help from the Qur’an when they get sick and recite Surat Fatiha or al-Shifa and feel well again. However, those who do not believe in the Qur’an and Islam will find no benefit in it. Shifa in the Qur’an: Shifa by Jacob From Blindness
One of the instances where Shifa took place and is specifically mentioned in the Qur’an has to do with the story of Prophet Joseph and his father, Prophet Jacob. When Joseph was treasurer of Egypt, his brothers came to him for grain. Joseph gave it to them, but said, “Next time you come, I won’t give you grain unless you bring your younger brother.” So the brothers persuaded their father, Benjamin, Joseph’s only full brother, to come along to take Egypt. Joseph made a plan to keep Benjamin.
He put the king’s cup in his sack and when they left for Egypt they said that someone had stolen the king’s cup and that they had to search their sacks. Consequently, they found the cup in Benjamin’s sack. According to Canaanite law, Benjamin was to be arrested. When the brothers returned and told their father what had happened, Jacob cried so much that he went blind. Then he ordered his sons to find Joseph and bring his brother back.
As they walked back Joseph revealed his identity to them and gave them his shirt and said rub it on your father’s eyes and his blindness will be healed. And so Jacob was healed of his blindness.
