Air conditioning (A/C) recovery, evacuation and charging.

General equipment

A/C service unit

Halogen leak detector with automatic calibration

Electronic leak detector

Refrigerant identification equipment

UV leak detector

1. Refer to: Air Conditioning (A/C) Health and Safety Precautions (100-00 General Information, Description and Operation).

CAUTION: The refrigerant analyzer must be used before recovery, otherwise the refrigerant center may be contaminated. Contaminated refrigerant must be disposed of as hazardous waste. Always follow the manufacturer’s instructions when using the Refrigerant Center and Refrigerant Analyzer

Unscrew and remove the protective caps from the A/C charge connectors.

4. 1st low pressure connection

2. High pressure connection

5. Connect the lines of the service unit to the filling connection of the air conditioner.

6. Drain the air conditioner from the low pressure port according to the service equipment manufacturer’s instructions.

CAUTION: Be sure to charge the specified amount of refrigerant oil.

NOTE: This step is only required when installing a new component.

Top up refrigerant oil.

8. Evacuate the air conditioner according to the service equipment manufacturer’s instructions.

9. NOTE: The system is tight if the pressure increase does not exceed 20 mbar. Perform the leak test by closing the manual valves on the gauge set, turning off the vacuum pump on the maintenance unit, and observing the vacuum gauge.

10.NOTE: This step is only necessary if the pressure increase exceeds 20 mbar.

Locate and repair any leaks in the air conditioning refrigerant circuit with a leak tester.

11. Pour refrigerant oil into the air conditioner.

12. Fill the air conditioner with liquid via the high-pressure connection.

Refer to: Specifications (412-00 Air Conditioning – General Information, Specifications).

2. Switch the maintenance unit to “Charging” mode and charge the system with the prescribed amount of liquid refrigerant (R134a).

14. Fill the air conditioner with gas via the low-pressure connection.

2. Switch the maintenance unit to “Fill” mode and charge the system with the prescribed amount of gaseous refrigerant.

3. Fill in the remaining amount of refrigerant with the air conditioning switched on. To do this, run the engine at approx. 1200-1500 rpm.

Set the air conditioner to full cooling capacity and fresh air mode. Set the blower motor to the highest level. Fill in the rest of the specified capacity.

16. Disconnect the maintenance unit.

17. 1. Close the isolation valve.

2. Turn off the maintenance device.

3. Disconnect the service unit lines from the air conditioner charging connections.

4. Screw the protective caps onto the charging connectors.

18. Install all components in reverse order.
