As you would install any other app on iOS, you can reinstall the GamePigeon app from the App Store. But for easier access, we’re going to reinstall the app directly from the Messages app itself.

To do this, open the Messages app and go to a conversation with any contact.

This will open the App Store for iMessage.

One of the main differences between iPhone and Android is that Android devices cannot use iMessage. What you need to use weMessage

To be able to use weMessage, you need the following:

An iMessage account: This is likely your existing Apple ID.

A Mac with macOS 10.10 (Yosemite) or higher: Using weMessage requires a program to be running on your Mac.

Java 7 or later installed on your Mac.

An Android phone running Android OS 5.0 (Lollipop) or higher.

Here’s how weMessage lets you use iMessage on Android

While iMessage doesn’t work on Android devices, iMessage works on both iOS and macOS. It’s Mac compatibility that matters most here. weMessage is a program for Mac that routes messages through the iMessage network. This means all your texts are sent to weMessage and then forwarded to iMessage for sending to and from macOS, iOS and Android devices, while still using Apple’s encryption.

How to set up weMessage to use iMessage for Android

weMessage is a pretty clever workaround for dealing with Apple’s security for iMessage, but setting it up isn’t for the tech novice or the faint of heart. There are many steps here and it requires more complex configuration than most programs. But if you’re really committed to getting iMessage on Android, this is your only option. Here’s what you need to do.

Configure weMessage on Mac

You must have Java installed on your Mac to use weMessage. Verify that you have it by navigating to Applications > Utilities, then launching the Terminal app that comes preinstalled on your Mac. Type java and then click Enter. If you get an error, you don’t have Java. If you don’t see the error, you have it. Make sure you have the latest version by downloading it here. Next, download the weMessage program for your Mac. In the weMessage folder, double-click the run.command file to start weMessage. If you get an error message that the program can’t run because it’s from an unknown developer, click the Apple logo > System Preferences > Security & Privacy > General, and then click Open anyway. Next, you need to enable some accessibility features of your Mac. On the System Preferences > Security & Privacy screen, click the Privacy tab, and then click Accessibility. Click the lock icon at the bottom left to unlock your settings. If prompted, enter the password you use to log in to your Mac. Click the + icon, then navigate through your hard drive to Applications > Utilities. Click Terminal > Open. Double-click run.command again to start the program. This will launch a terminal window. Enter the email address you use with iMessage. Next enter a password. The weMessage app running on a Mac. Your Lifewire password doesn’t have to match your iMessage password, and maybe it shouldn’t, since your Apple ID is used for so many things.

How to set up weMessage on Android

Go to the Google Play Store on your Android device and install the weMessage app. Start weMessage on your Android. Tap Next. At the Permission Error prompt, tap OK to give the app permission to access your device settings. When Settings opens, tap the button next to Allow system settings to be changed to allow weMessage access. Tap the back arrow at the top to return to the app. When prompted to choose a default SMS app, tap weMessage and then tap Set as default. Select OKAY at the “Help” prompt. Enter your Mac’s IP address into the app so it knows how to communicate with your computer. Learn how to find your IP address if you’re not sure how. You are not done yet!

The instructions so far will only work if your Android phone is on the same Wi-Fi network as your Mac. That’s useful, but you want your Android to use iMessage no matter where you are. To do this, you need to set up port forwarding.

Port forwarding configures your home Wi-Fi network to allow connections from outside. This is how your Android device connects to the weMessage app on your Mac from anywhere.

The way you set up port forwarding is different for pretty much every router or modem. Because of this, there are no single instructions that can be provided. The best way to learn how to do this is by using the video and instructions on the weMessage website.

Once you’ve set up port forwarding, test the setup by turning off Wi-Fi on your Android device and texting someone using iMessage.

iMessage might not be the only iPhone feature you want to use on Android. You might be able to use Siri on Android or even use some iTunes features.
