Quote: nunor723 Quote from but dismantling for anything on these strange cars is the stuff of nightmares. I pray that someone with a different cause and solution will read this and save me from this nightmare.

In fact, Honda and Toyota make some of the easiest cars to disassemble. I’ve done auto installs and jobs for the last 20 years and the newer Hondas are the easiest. The back deck takes a bit of time, but it’s only one piece at a time. I was able to disassemble my 2001 Accord with ease – all interior trim (seats, console, trim, carpet) was removed in 45 minutes. Dash came apart easily: This was the installation of mass-loaded vinyl under the carpet: I’ve disassembled and reassembled my 2014 Accord several times without incident. Below is a picture I took when I adjusted the dash in my 2014 Sport: And according to part of what makes them (Honda and Toyota) easy to work with is the use of high quality clips and parts. Last fall I recut the head bolt holes (installed TimeSerts into the engine block) on my 2002 Camry over a weekend. not a single screw was a problem. after that here is a 2005 scion tc emptied: i’m just showing you these pics to give you hope – to let you know that these cars are a pleasure to work on. I have disassembled and reassembled many cars and I think the most difficult brand is Chrysler because of the inferior parts. GM is a close second. Foreign cars are just simpler and easier, and you need fewer tools. Note that the radio itself is not a Honda product and radio quality across all manufacturers will not match the vehicle – a disadvantage for low bidders Your factory radio shouldn’t last more than 10 minutes. They make a radio replacement kit so you can install a modern head unit with all the latest features. If you went this route, there are different kits for each trim level (dual air conditioning or NAVI change the kit). Even if you just want to look at the factory radio, the instructions are online so you can see how to uninstall it: From the instructions you can see that the biggest hassle is removing the various trim pieces surrounding the radio – but it’s just clips and a couple of Phillips screws. A fairing removal tool (thin nylon tool available at any parts store) is a good idea so you don’t damage the finish when you loosen the fairings).

AUX port stopped working suddenly [solved]

AUX port suddenly stopped working [solved]

Hello,

I have a 2007 Civic with an AUX input. Today I was listening to my iPod through the AUX port (like I do almost every day) when it suddenly cut out and the car stereo display switched to the tuner. I couldn’t switch the mode back to AUX mode even though the iPod was connected and playing. There was no real warning before the music stopped. I just drove along and then it was gone.

I checked the ipod individually and the audio cable I used and both are fine. The CD player still works perfectly, as does the regular radio. The only thing that doesn’t work is the AUX mode.

What could be the problem? and can i fix it myself? (although I’m not an electrical engineer. I have a degree in mechanical engineering and can follow instructions). Is this something I should take it to the dealer for (I’m pretty sure I’m out of warranty)?

Any help or advice would be appreciated. I will really miss listening to books on my iPod on my commute!

Thanks very much!

AUX Not Working

😆 We need a thread to collect these incidents. There are some great tinkers we all did on our cars thinking we would have problems etc if the wrong switch was selected or not…

I thought for a few days that something was wrong with my rear suspension. After cleaning up the spare wheel well, it turned out that the jack was not attached properly and was rattling around. I’ve made others too, but forget it now.
