d) The user you’re trying to send your message to has indicated that they prefer longer initial messages to a short, simple “Hey”. We recommend writing a longer first message and maybe expanding on an interest you saw on their profile or asking a question.
e) You have reached your maximum number of first message contacts. There is NO limit to how many messages you can send per day to the people you are already in touch with, so you can chat as much as you like.
f) The recipient of your message has email preferences that prevent you from contacting them. There may be restrictions that you cannot see on their profile.
g) Your profile may have been flagged for review and is in quarantine. If you’re not receiving messages, adding favorites, or having trouble logging in, please wait 48 hours and try again.
h) Your age is outside the contact restrictions of +/- 14 years (or +9 years for those under 22 years of age). The user you are trying to contact has blocked you.
Remember, if you want to limit who can contact you on Plenty of Fish, you can do so by going to your “Mail Preferences” under “Edit Profile” and selecting parameters.
Why is a message missing from my inbox after receiving a notification that I’ve received one?
Your messages may not appear in your inbox even though you received a new message notification because:
The person who sent you the message actually decided to delete their account before you could read the message they sent you. All messages are deleted after an account is closed.
The message you received has expired. All messages are automatically deleted by our system after 30 days and there is no way to retrieve them.
The user who sent the message has blocked you, so you will no longer be able to read his message he sent you.
You may have accidentally deleted the message from your own inbox. Unfortunately, once a message has been deleted, you cannot retrieve it.
