Does a trampoline get a better bounce in time?
Step 1 Cover the trampoline mat with a weather cover or tarp to keep the mat from drying out. Harsh ultraviolet rays from the sun can damage even the most durable mats, drying out the fabric in areas that eventually become dangerous holes for jumpers to fall through. The cover prevents other debris such as pet droppings, leaves and dirt and debris.
Step 2 Clean the trampoline mat regularly with the right conditioner that will prevent fading and material deterioration. Apply the cleaner according to the instructions. Vinyl cleaners should be free from harsh chemicals, odorless and eco-friendly/biodegradable. The cleaner should be easy to rinse off and leave no residue which, in combination with UV exposure, can dry and damage the mat. Be careful with products that contain bleach. Bleach can accelerate drying. Some products contain a natural carnauba protective coating that can help the trampoline mat retain moisture.
Step 3 Store your trampoline mat when not in use. Most trampolines are built to withstand all weather conditions year-round. Winterize trampoline mat by cleaning and conditioning before covering for storage. Store the pad in its original packaging indoors or wrapped and anchored outdoors. Lay several dryer sheets over the pad before storing it in a tarp or storage bag. Wrapping and covering the mat will prevent frost from damaging the vinyl in cold regions. Fix the mat to an outside wall or to the ground with an anchor set if you live in a windy region.
Is it OK to leave a trampoline out in winter?
A weather cover can protect the jump pad, as well as the frame pads if you opt to leave them on as well. However, be careful if you choose to cover your trampoline. A cover can trap moisture on the surface of the trampoline, which can allow mildew to grow.

Get out and have fun!
During the winter, it can be tempting to give up the idea of playing outdoors and settle in comfortably indoors with movies, video games, and other sedentary activities. And while we always love a good excuse to watch movies, the truth is that moderate outdoor activity, even when it’s cold, can have many benefits for kids and adults alike. Playing outside gets your family outside and away from the viruses and bacteria that accumulate inside during the winter. That means less exposure to those nasty germs that are so prevalent when it’s cold. It also increases exposure to valuable nutrients like vitamin D that come from sun exposure. The short- and long-term health benefits of vitamin D are tremendous, but spending time outdoors can also help your family stay healthier than just curling up indoors. The trick to playing outside in winter is dressing appropriately, knowing your limits, and finding safe activities for your kids to participate in. This is where your garden trampoline can come in handy. If you choose to keep it outside during the winter, your trampoline can be a great tool to encourage your family to get outside and enjoy some of that cool, fresh air. Using trampolines in winter is a great source of exercise and fun, but any use of a trampoline in cold weather must be done safely. If you live in a place that gets a lot of snow or high winds during the winter months, leaving your trampoline outside may not be a good idea. The weight of snow can ruin a trampoline, and high winds can blow it through your yard. If you live in an area that’s prone to inclement weather, it’s probably a good idea to disassemble your trampoline and store it indoors during the winter. However, if you live in a more temperate winter climate, it may not be necessary to store your trampoline when the mercury on the thermometer is pointing south. The cold alone usually does not harm a trampoline. The biggest challenges are humidity – including rain and snow – and high winds that can blow it around. If you’re willing to spend a little time preparing your trampoline from the snow and wind, you’ll be able to keep it in place and use it on those days when inclement weather doesn’t keep you indoors holds. If you live in a more temperate to mild winter climate, there are just a few steps you should take to protect it from every possible wintry weather: Removing the frame pads prevents them from being damaged by moisture or snow. These can be easily folded and stored inside without taking up much space. If you choose not to remove the frame pads, make sure they are covered with a weather cover to prevent them from coming into contact with moisture. If you allow snow to accumulate on the pad, its weight can damage your trampoline. A broom should be enough to remove all of the snow. Avoid using a shovel or snow blower. A shovel can scratch or tear the surface of the pad, and a snow blower can damage it if your blower puts out heat. Weather protection can protect the jump pad as well as the frame pads if you choose to leave them on as well. However, be careful if you choose to cover your trampoline. A cover can trap moisture on the surface of the trampoline, which can cause mold to form. If you choose a cover, be sure to remove it regularly to allow your trampoline to dry. If snow accumulates on the cover, use a broom to remove it from the cover, just as you would if the jumping mat itself were exposed. As the name suggests, trampoline anchors anchor the trampoline to the ground so it doesn’t blow away around your yard when the wind picks up. Anchors are a particularly good idea if you live in an area that is exposed to high winds. It’s worth noting that trampoline anchors are a good investment any time of the year if you live in an area where high winds are common. Since the anchors go into the ground, you should do this before the cold weather hits so the ground is soft enough to embed the anchors in the ground. Inspecting your trampoline is important to make sure the winter weather doesn’t do it any unexpected damage. If the damage is detected early, it is easier to fix or prevent further, irreparable damage. Before your family starts playing, take a few minutes to walk around the trampoline and note any areas that appear to have been worn since the trampoline was last used. Address any safety concerns before allowing your family to start jumping. It might seem easier to stay indoors when temperatures drop, but exercising outdoors in moderation has a number of benefits for children and adults alike. So before you put your trampoline away for the season, consider the benefits of leaving it in place: Staying indoors all winter can make you feel bad. Getting outside for a few minutes each day can improve your mood and help make winter a little more bearable. Not only does fresh air help you feel better, but more sun exposure and the vitamin D it provides are important for your mood and overall well-being, especially in winter. This applies to both children and adults. Just because it’s winter doesn’t mean your body doesn’t need to move. Regardless of the temperature, children still need a chance to run, jump and move after a day at their desks at school. If they’re dressed appropriately and you limit the time they spend outdoors, there’s no reason they can’t play outside in the winter. For kids, a change of scenery and some fresh air can also improve their behavior and help them release pent-up energy that might otherwise cause them to jump on your sofa cushions or kick soccer balls down your hallway. This equates to physical benefits for kids and—our favorite—psychological benefits for parents! Things look and feel different in winter. When your child steps outside, their imagination will be challenged with new ideas and games. They will see the world with new eyes and find new things to spend their time with. This is a benefit that comes with any outdoor game, but there’s nothing quite like the view that results from the air when you’re jumping on a trampoline. In addition, we are all for everything that helps against boredom! Nothing wrong with winter fun. The health benefits of spending time outside on the trampoline are many. But as with any outdoor activity, it’s important to follow the rules when it comes to playing safely and smartly: while it’s perfectly safe to play outside in cooler temperatures, children aren’t as good at regulating their body temperature as adults . In other words, they don’t always know when they’ve had enough. Younger children cannot stay warm as long as older children. And children, regardless of age, should wear appropriate clothing to protect them from the lower temperatures. So make sure you know how cold it is outside. A good rule of thumb is to know what the wind chill is in your area that day – remember that the wind chill can make it feel significantly colder than it is. You’re probably wondering, “How cold is too cold?” Unfortunately, it can be difficult to put a numerical limit on how cold is “too cold.” For children in California, for example, 50 degrees might be too cool because they don’t have the right clothes. For Michigan kids, wind chills in their 30s might be tolerable in small amounts because they have thicker clothing to protect them. All we can say is use your best judgment and trust your parenting instincts. Besides the outside temperature, make sure it is not raining or snowing while your kids are on the trampoline. Moisture can quickly turn the trampoline from fun to dangerous. There is nothing worse than slipping on snow or ice and injuring yourself. In addition to checking current conditions, you should also inspect the surface of the trampoline to make sure there is no snow or ice left over from a previous storm. Ice in particular can be difficult to see as it can mix with the surface of the jumping mat. Before letting children play on the trampoline, examine it closely for any snow, ice, or water that may have accumulated on the surface since a recent storm. Remove any suspected moisture to avoid slipping or falling. While you’re at it, check the frame, pads and, if your trampoline has springs, check them for any damage that may have occurred since last use. And, as mentioned, if it’s still raining or snowing, stay away from the trampoline. When it’s chilly outside it can be tempting to wrap your child in a scarf or hooded sweatshirt, but these items can pose a safety hazard when jumping on a trampoline. Opt for tight-fitting clothing, like a turtleneck to keep your neck warm, or a hat that isn’t attached to clothing. Also, never jump in boots – the rough soles can damage the jumping surface. There’s no quicker way to ruin the fun on the trampoline than destroying the trampoline’s jumping surface. Yes, we know it can be difficult to stand outside and watch your children play when it’s cold, but wintertime is not a time to slack off when it comes to ensuring proper adult supervision . If you get cold watching your kids jump on the trampoline, join in or throw some toe warmers in your boots. However, never leave children unattended while a trampoline is in use. Outdoor play is a good thing in the winter months, but should be more strictly limited than in warmer temperatures. Watch your children closely for signs that they are getting cold. Make sure you limit playtime to a safe period, then quickly lead the kids inside. Just a few minutes of outdoor play a day can be enough to beat the winter blues. No matter what time of year you are jumping, always make sure to follow standard trampoline safety. Only allow one person to bounce at a time, always have an adult nearby, and never jump on a broken or damaged trampoline in any way. Also, avoid somersaults and other “tricks” that could cause serious injury. All parents are looking for ways to keep their children happy and active during the cold winter months. A garden trampoline can be a great way to do this. It gets kids outside, exercising and having fun – a triple win for parents everywhere. How do you know if your trampoline is worn out?
The mat will get over stretched and will sag. With time, you will notice that there is less bounce in the trampoline. And the users are no longer able to jump as high as they used to jump before. At this time it is clear that your mat needs to be replaced.
Does a trampoline get a better bounce in time?
Trampolines are designed to last for many years. You can take care to keep the structure oiled and covered in inclement weather, but you’ll still notice the mat fraying and tearing, especially where the feathers connect. If your trampoline is this shape, you don’t need to worry. All you need is a new jumping mat and your trampoline will be in good condition again.
Trampoline jumping mats are made from fibers that withstand the elements outside all year round. However, at some point during the life of your trampoline, it will need to be replaced so that you and your family can enjoy many years of fun and safe trampoline training.
Why trampoline mats wear out.
Trampolines have weight limits. Your children will jump on the trampoline when they are young and light, and as they get older they tend to gain weight and will still want to jump on it with their friends. This puts more stress on the trampoline. The mat is overstretched and sags. Over time you will find that the trampoline bounces less. And users can’t jump as high as they used to. At this point it is clear that your mat needs to be replaced.
The trampoline mat can also overstretch if many people jump on it at the same time. Even if it holds large amounts of snow during the winter season, it will overstretch and sag.
With frequent use over the years, it can also happen that your trampoline mat loses its stitching or the rings come loose. If you see these signs you need to replace your trampoline mat. This shows that the mat has worn down through use over the years. The rain can also cause the mat to sag. Bouncing on a sagging mat isn’t great.
Children can also tear holes in the mat over time. A mat can also puncture when things fall on it, such as cigarette butts or firecrackers. A trampoline mat with holes needs to be replaced as soon as possible as this can lead to unnecessary accidents that can end up ending up users in the emergency room with broken bones and other physical injuries.
If you replace the mat with a new one, the trampoline will look like new again.
Replace your trampoline mat
The first step to replacing your old trampoline mat is to measure your current trampoline mat and figure out if you want to stick with the same style. Measuring your current trampoline mat is very easy, you just need to be patient and your hands steady. If you have a square or rectangular trampoline mat, you have the easiest task.
You simply note the length and width of the mat from one edge of the mat to the other. And if you are one of the owners of a round trampoline, measure the diameter of the mat. You can do this by placing the tape measure on one edge of the mat where the circle is widest. To increase accuracy, move around the mat and measure several times. And if you get the same measurement every time, then you probably did it right.
After getting the measurements right, search the market and find out the styles available. Mats with rings for springs are the most common, but there are also mats with elastic bands that wrap around the frame, giving you and your family the buoyancy to bounce. It is also important that you know the number of springs in your mat. After that you can now place your order. The spring tool is an essential tool to have so you can remove the old trampoline mat to install a new one.
When buying a trampoline, it is always important that you also purchase trampoline replacement parts so that you have them on hand in the event of a replacement. Some of the trampoline replacement parts you will need include: pads, frames, jumping mats and springs. This saves you the hassle of measuring mats and reducing the time wasted waiting for your order.
Best material for trampoline mat
When buying a trampoline mat you have to make sure that the mat is made of Permatron polypropylene. This is the safest material on the market for private trampolines. It is UV resistant and sewn with UV resistant thread. The V-rings used to attach the springs should also be galvanized to prevent rusting. Competition or Olympic trampolines, on the other hand, can use a special mat made of extra strong fabrics, since this type of trampoline is intended exclusively for professionals. Therefore, they are not recommended for use in home trampolines.
After you buy your new mat, just install it and keep having fun with your family.
Conclusion
In order to enjoy your trampoline for many years, you need to maintain it well to ensure maximum safety for the jumpers. You also have to set rules for using the trampoline, for example no more than one person can jump on the trampoline at the same time.
Trampoline jumping mats produced by Domijum are made in China from high quality fabric that they also manufacture. Our customers can be assured that they have the best trampoline mat on the market. Domijump company is able to manufacture and produce many trampoline mats in one day, so customers can get their mats within a very short time.
Why is my brand new trampoline mat loose?
Your trampoline’s mat can be loose for a few reasons, from overstretched springs to standard bounce cords. If your trampoline is brand-new, you’ll want to modify your bounce cords, but if it’s no longer a spring chicken, you’ll want to consider replacing the springs.

How to measure your trampoline mat
Nothing can dampen your Saturday like realizing that your trampoline mat is broken for the count. However, we have good news – you can replace it! All you need is a handy guide to measuring your trampoline mat. At SkyBound USA we are here for you.
Measuring guide trampoline
The 3 measurements we need for your trampoline replacement mat are:
trampoline frame size
Number of V-Rings
spring size
1. Measure the steel frame of your trampoline.
Find the diameter of your trampoline by measuring from one side of the outside edge of your frame to the opposite outside edge. A common mistake is measuring where your spring’s holes start, but measuring from edge to edge is what you need to know to get the right size trampoline mat.
When measuring a round trampoline, think of it as a clock. Take two measurements – one from the 12-6 o’clock position and a second from the 3-9 o’clock position. These measurements are the approximate size of your frame.
For example, a 12 foot trampoline frame means you need a 12 foot trampoline mat.
An alternative method is to measure your old mat. Unhook your mat from your trampoline and place it on a flat surface. Measure it from the end of the fabric – minus the V-rings – using the same watch techniques as mentioned above. Mats will stretch over time so keep that in mind when shopping.
2. Count your V-rings.
You can add your V-Rings in two different ways. Once you have your mat, simply count their V-rings. To avoid confusion or an inaccurate total, mark your starting point. If you don’t have your mat, count the number of holes on the top rails of the trampoline frame. Your v-ring total should equal the number of springs.
3. Find your feather size.
When measuring your springs, make sure they are off the trampoline and that you are measuring hook end to hook end – you want to include the full length of the spring.
Bonus tip: We recommend measuring three springs that are not overstretched to ensure you get the same measurement. If you can slip a piece of printer paper through your spring coils, they are overextended. Overstretched springs will give you an inaccurate measurement and you could end up ordering the wrong replacement mat.
Congratulations, now you know how to measure a trampoline! Another tip: Familiarize yourself with the shape of your trampoline, for example round or square. You’ll get some bonus points if you remember the brand as well, as it makes the replacement process even easier.
How to measure your octagonal trampoline mat
What if your trampoline is neither square nor round? It’s no big deal, but your “how to” for measuring a trampoline mat will be different. As with the steps above, you should measure your springs to determine their size and count your v-rings – the difference is how you measure the frame of your trampoline.
Follow these steps to measure your trampoline mat if it is in the shape of an octagon:
Find your diameter. As with a square or round trampoline, take two measurements from the outside edges of your trampoline. For an octagonal trampoline, measure from the metal edge of one corner to the metal edge of the opposite corner. After marking your first measurement, take your second measurement. This time your measurement should be perpendicular to your first – if they were superimposed the two would create a cross, with one line vertical and the other horizontal. Determine your average. Next, review your measurements and average them together. This number corresponds to the size of your trampoline mat. Check your totals. Even if you’re sure of your measurements, there’s no harm in measuring twice. Go ahead and measure your opposite corners again and then recalculate your averages as well. Once you’re confident in your numbers, you’re ready to search for your spare mat and restore the fun to your backyard – and level up your hero or heroine with your kids and their friends.
FAQs for trampoline mats
If you have questions about trampoline mats, Skybound USA has the answers! Here are the four most frequently asked questions about trampoline mats.
1. Can a trampoline mat be repaired?
It depends. For trampoline mats with less than a 2 inch tear, repair is an option. Anything larger than 2 inches will require you to replace it. Some sewing skills are required to fix your mat. You also need to buy a patch kit. Place the replacement material over the tear and tape in place with a sewing machine – most packages will specify which seam to use.
2. When do you need to replace your trampoline jumping mats?
This answer also varies. All trampoline mats age and will stretch and sag with continued use. However, this process can take years. If you and your children use your trampoline constantly, your mat can age faster than one that is only used a few times a week. However, when do you know it’s time to replace your mat? If it delivers a really lackluster bounce, tears with minimal effort, or frays in multiple places, then it’s time for a replacement.
3. Why is my trampoline mat loose and how can I tighten it?
Your trampoline mat can be loose for a variety of reasons, from overstretched springs to standard jump ropes. If your trampoline is brand new you should modify your jumping straps, but if it’s no longer a jumping chicken you should consider replacing the springs.
Turn your trampoline over to tighten your jump bands and look for the knot block that has a jump band going through it. Grab the cable with needle-nosed pliers and untie the top knot before re-tying it near the knot block. By moving the overhead knot closer, you tighten your mat. Repeat the process for all of your bounce lines.
4. How much does a trampoline mat cost?
The cost of a trampoline mat will vary depending on the size of your trampoline and the quality of the mat. Many companies also bundle the trampoline mat and its pad protector together, which also affects the price. On average, you can expect to purchase a trampoline replacement mat for between $100 and $200. The good news is that the mats are sky-high fun for a long time.

Do bigger trampolines bounce higher?
How high can you jump on the trampoline? Bounce quality will depend in part on size. A smaller trampoline is going to offer a much smaller bounce. If you have young children, you might want to consider a smaller model that won’t send them soaring too high.
Does a trampoline get a better bounce in time?
What is the best shape for a trampoline?
We compare two of the most common trampoline shapes – rectangular and round – to help you make an informed purchasing decision. Happy hopping!
1. Round vs. Rectangular: frame thickness
The stability of the frame is a crucial feature of any trampoline. The first consideration when researching frame strength is not the shape of the trampoline, but the material the frame is made of. Some trampolines use plain steel in their frames. These frames are more likely to suffer from rust and are more likely to be damaged by regular use.
When considering frame strength, look for galvanized steel, not plain steel. Galvanized steel offers higher rust resistance. Also, the strength of this material means your trampoline is likely to have a longer warranty. Some other trampolines offer a powder coated steel frame. This coating is intended to prevent rust and other damage to the frame. When you choose a quality trampoline, you get more bang for your buck in the long run.
You may be wondering when considering whether to buy a round or rectangular trampoline, does one frame shape offer more strength than the other?
The two different trampoline shapes are equal in terms of frame strength. As long as a round trampoline and a rectangular trampoline have frames made of the same material, their frames should be of equal strength.
2. Round vs. Rectangular: Bounce quality
This will probably be the feature that kids care about the most. How high can you jump on the trampoline? Bounce quality depends in part on size. A smaller trampoline offers a much smaller bounce. If you have small children, you might want to consider a smaller model that won’t let them fly too high.
In terms of shape, rectangular trampolines offer more bounce than a round trampoline. A rectangular shape makes all jumps bounce back evenly. No matter where you jump on a rectangular trampoline, you can be sure that your jumps will be the same height and power. This is because not all of the springs on a rectangular trampoline are used when bouncing. Instead, the springs work separately depending on where you bounce on the trampoline’s surface.
This puts less stress on the springs of a rectangular trampoline.
A round trampoline, on the other hand, works differently. When you bounce on a circular trampoline, each of the springs work at the same time. The center of gravity is exactly in the middle of a round trampoline. That is, if someone jumps, they will be pulled back to the center. As you move away from the center of a round trampoline, the bounces become smaller. Bouncing in the middle of a round trampoline will propel you to greater heights than jumping on the sides.
Because all of the springs on a round trampoline work at the same time, the springs are likely to be loaded faster than the springs on a rectangular trampoline.
While your kids are clamoring for the highest bounce, you have more to consider. Do you want the highest bounce? Do you prefer the more controlled bounce of the round trampoline that pulls the jumpers toward the center?
3. Round vs. Rectangular: Security
Safety is probably the most important feature parents have in mind when buying a trampoline. Kids will love bouncing on a trampoline, but you want to make sure they don’t sprain their ankles or jump off the trampoline. Here are the biggest safety benefits of circular trampolines and rectangular trampolines.
The reduced bounce of round trampolines is actually a great safety feature. Bounces on the sides of a round trampoline are much weaker. Kids can still get a good height in the center of a circular trampoline, but they won’t get too high on the edges. Additionally, the circle shape pulls jumpers back to the center. The safety benefits of a round trampoline are obvious.
If you are concerned about safety, you can always add a safety net to your trampoline, be it round or rectangular. Safety nets help trap unpredictable jumpers and keep them safe on the trampoline.
4. Round vs. Rectangular: Price
Price is another important consideration when buying trampolines. Several factors can affect the price:
Size: The larger the trampoline, the more it costs. This applies to both round and rectangular models.
The bigger the trampoline, the more it costs. This applies to both round and rectangular models. Material: The material the jumping surface is made of affects the price. Common materials include woven nylon or polyethylene.
The material from which the jumping surface is made affects the price. Common materials include woven nylon or polyethylene. Age: You can buy trampolines new or used. A new trampoline will typically cost more than a used model, but will last much longer, giving you a better return on investment.
You can buy trampolines new or used. A new trampoline will typically cost more than a used model, but will last much longer, giving you a better return on investment. Shape: Different shapes correlate with different prices, but usually round trampolines are more affordable due to their popularity and market density.
Simply considering round vs. rectangular trampolines, rectangular trampolines are generally the more expensive option. Round trampolines are the more common trampoline option, meaning there are more options on the market. Because the round shape is so common, it tends to be cheaper than the less common rectangular trampoline.
Rectangular trampolines are more expensive than round trampolines because they generally take longer to manufacture. Rectangular trampolines also need more support. Extra care must also be taken when fitting the mat to the frame to avoid tearing at the sharp corners of the rectangular shape. More intensive work leads to a higher price.
5. Round vs. Rectangular: Weight Limits
Weight restrictions are another important consideration. Will you let more than one child jump on the trampoline? Do adults want to jump on the trampoline? Make sure you choose a trampoline that can handle the weight requirements you have in mind.
How much weight a trampoline can support depends on its size and shape. Here are the weight limits for some standard round trampoline sizes.
An 8ft or 10ft round trampoline can usually support 200 to 250 pounds.
A 12 foot round trampoline can usually support 250 to 300 pounds.
A round, 14 or 16 foot trampoline can typically handle 250 to 400 pounds.
Regardless of size, most rectangular trampolines can support between 300 and 450 pounds. Rectangular trampolines can hold more weight due to the way the springs work. The rectangular shape means that only part of the feathers are pulled with each jump. That means less stress and more strain. Each time someone bounces on a round trampoline, all of the springs are pulled evenly, resulting in less weight loading.
The type of jumping mat, frame and springs also affect the load limits of a trampoline. A higher quality pad, frame and springs means a trampoline can support more weight.
6. Round vs. Rectangular: Usage
Why are you buying a trampoline? Is it just used for fun? Or do your children use the trampoline for sporting reasons? Round trampolines are the clear choice if you plan to use them purely for recreational purposes. A round trampoline limits how high the jumps go and where the bounces land. The circular shape draws knights back to the center. This is a great feature for younger kids and people who just want to experience the fun of bouncing.
7. Round vs. Rectangular: Location
Where would you like to place your trampoline? Your space constraints play a big part in your final decision to buy a round or rectangular trampoline. It can be difficult to find a suitable place for a round trampoline. You need enough space for the entire diameter of a round trampoline. This usually means placing the trampoline in the middle of your yard.
On the other hand, rectangular trampolines fit better in a corner or narrow space at the side of your home. This may not be the deciding factor, but you must take measurements and choose a spot for your trampoline before purchasing.
If you live in a place with harsh winters, you may decide to store your trampoline. Size and shape also play a major role here. A rectangular trampoline is easier to store than a round trampoline.

What is the life span of a trampoline?
Cheaper jumping mats can last for two years, while high-quality trampolines are good for up to five years or more. To ensure a longer lifespan regardless of the quality of the jumping mat, you can ask someone using it to take off their shoes.
Does a trampoline get a better bounce in time?
It all starts with the question, “How long do trampolines last?” In this guide we will look at the lifespan of an average trampoline and the steps needed to keep them in top shape.
The average lifespan of a trampoline
Photo by Adi Perets on Pexels.com
There is no definite answer as to how long trampolines will last as it depends on the quality and design of a trampoline. If you’re looking for a baseball figure, a standard trampoline could last anywhere from three to eight years.
However, some models and brands may go beyond this number. However, the actual lifespan of a trampoline largely depends on the durability of the materials it is made of and the care you take in maintaining it.
Trampolines cost hundreds of dollars depending on size, height, and construction. If you are planning to buy a trampoline that fits your budget, consider these tips:
1. Find a sturdy jumping mat
No other part of a trampoline is subject to as much stress as the jumping mat. Normally made of polypropylene fibers, the jumping mat may lose its ability to support the downward force and may tear as a result of prolonged use.
Cheaper jumping mats can last two years, while high-quality trampolines can last up to five years or more. To ensure a longer service life regardless of the quality of the jumping mat, you can ask the user to take off their shoes. You must also protect the mat from moisture by covering or storing it when it rains or snows.
2. Check the springs
The springs attach the jumping mat to the frame. When you jump onto the mat, the springs expand and compress to their original position. Although made of quality steel, the springs can lose their elasticity.
To prolong its usefulness, consider storing your trampoline during the cold months. Consider covering the springs with vinyl-coated PVC padding. Also, consider lubricating the springs by coating them with WD-40 to prevent rusting. In the event of damage, replacing the springs is quite easy as these parts are readily available.
3. Look for a rigid frame
If you’re looking for a trampoline that can withstand heavy loads, you need one that offers a solid base. Most trampoline frames are made of galvanized steel, which can support different weights. However, heat and moisture can cause rusting which can lead to serious damage.
To be on the safe side, consider wrapping the frame in weatherproof padding. You also need to check if the bolts and screws are loose. Tighten them before using the trampoline to keep them from falling apart.

Trampolines are a great way to exercise and have fun at the same time. But how long do trampolines last?
There are many factors that affect the life expectancy of a trampoline. The main factor is the quality of the trampoline itself. A good quality trampoline will last longer than an inferior one. It also depends on how often it is used and where it is stored when not in use.
Trampolines can last for years with the right care.
Buying a trampoline is not an easy task as there are many factors to consider. The most important thing is to know the answer to the question “How long does the trampoline last?”.
The answer to this question is that it depends on how often you use it and how well you take care of it. A good trampoline should last at least 3-8 years with proper use and care.
Like many things, without proper care, trampolines can lose their shine and usefulness over time. With regular maintenance, you could even pass it on to the next generation.

Already own a trampoline?
Is the frame pad faded, cracked or torn?
Has the jumping mat torn or are the seams beginning to unravel?

Does the frame show signs of instability or rust?
It doesn’t take long for inferior and cheaper trampolines to break down. After all, they’re exposed to whatever Mother Nature can throw at them and, unfortunately, often aren’t built to last. That’s why at Trampolines.com we offer a full line of USA made, high quality replacement parts backed by a 5 year warranty.

feathers
If you have an older trampoline you may see rust on your springs which may not have been electroplated. Or they may simply be worn out and overstretched due to the way they were made. Our replacement springs are coiled with conical, tapered ends, giving the springs much better bounce and longer life. They are also fully galvanized for excellent rust protection and are sold in convenient replacement packs. Shop our replacement trampoline springs.
frame
After years of bouncing on an imported trampoline, you may also find that the frame seems more wobbly, less stable and begins to rust. Many manufacturers use thinner steel and only galvanize the outside of the frame. On the other hand, the garden trampolines we sell are galvanized inside and out and most are made from heavier gauge 13 gauge steel. Our trampoline frames are also made up of only 8 sections, giving them superior stability over budget store trampolines, which can have up to 25 sections! Contact us if you need a replacement frame.
So if you’re looking to upgrade or repair your trampoline, you’ve come to the right place. And if you find that your entire trampoline just needs to be thrown into the recycling heap, you can buy one of our brand new, USA-made trampolines and be assured that you won’t have to contact us for at least 10 years for replacement parts.
Why do trampolines make your feet black?
Black residue is a common aspect of an older, well-used polypropylene mesh trampoline mat, since carbon is used in the manufacturing process. As the mat wears over time, the carbon eventually wears through as well.
Does a trampoline get a better bounce in time?
Trampolines are a great source of fun and exercise with many health benefits for the whole family. It’s also easy to incorporate a trampoline into your yard’s landscaping for a practical and aesthetically pleasing design. Like any outdoor equipment, trampolines can get dirty over time with frequent use. Fortunately, a trampoline is easy to clean, and regular cleaning can help improve your trampoline’s appearance and prolong its life. If you’ve had your trampoline for a few years and notice black residue on the mat, a simple cleaning probably won’t fix it and can be a sign that the mat is actually wearing out.

Check for black residue
Some dirt and grime is a normal and expected part of an outdoor trampoline. However, if your trampoline is 4 to 8 years old and you notice black residue peeling from the mat on your hands, feet and even your clothes, this could be an indication that the mat is deteriorating and will need to be replaced soon.

Black residue is a common aspect of an older, commonly used polypropylene mesh trampoline mat due to the use of carbon in the manufacturing process. Eventually, as the mat wears down over time, the carbon will wear out too. Other types of dirt and debris can be removed with a few simple tools and supplies.
advertisement
clear away debris
If your trampoline has a net, remove it before cleaning. Use a soft broom, dust pan or hand brush to sweep leaves, twigs, acorns and other loose debris off the trampoline mat and safety padding. Be sure to check under the upholstery where dirt can get stuck. Next, use a hose or bucket of clean water to rinse off the mat.
advertisement
The water should loosen dust, dirt, and pollen that are difficult to remove with a broom. A hose works best, as light water pressure can help remove small debris. Do not use high pressure spray as this can weaken and damage the fabric of the mat over time.
advertisement
Add cleaning solution
You can use household dish soap to clean the trampoline. Do not use harsh chemicals on the trampoline mat or frame as this could damage the device. Mix 2 tablespoons of mild dish soap in a bucket of warm water. Stir to mix thoroughly. Pour the solution onto the trampoline mat to loosen stains and stuck dirt.
advertisement
Stay away from harsh chemical cleaners as these are unnecessary and can damage the trampoline mat. Use a soft cleaning cloth or sponge to remove stubborn stains like dried bird droppings. Avoid using a stiff bristled brush or scrubbing too hard as this can damage the trampoline.
advertisement
Rinse and dry
Once you’ve removed the stubborn stains, rinse off the soapy water with clean water. Be sure to remove all soap and residue. The soap is gone when no more bubbles appear on the trampoline.
advertisement
If soap is left on the trampoline, it can become stiff or even stain. It can also leave the mat slicker than usual and cause people to slip and injure themselves. A hose works best for a thorough flush; However, you can also use buckets of water to get the job done.
Dry the trampoline with soft bath towels or beach towels. Then let it air dry in the sun. Make sure the trampoline is completely dry before using it. A wet trampoline is slippery and very dangerous.
Maintenance for your trampoline
Cleaning your trampoline more often will prevent stains from sticking and make them easier to remove. As with any room in your home, your trampoline will become easier to clean and look better if you tidy it up from time to time. Another preventative solution is to invest in a trampoline cover.
A trampoline cover can be particularly helpful during times of the year when you are not using the trampoline, such as during the summer months. B. in late autumn and winter. It can also help in spring, summer and fall when pollen, leaves, twigs and bird droppings inevitably end up on the trampoline. You can either leave the cover on the trampoline for a while when you are not using it or put it on every day after use. This can minimize stains and therefore cleaning time, and it can also help protect your trampoline from the elements and keep it looking new and clean for longer.
What can I use to clean my trampoline mat?
While cleaning a trampoline mat can seem like a big endeavor, it’s actually fairly simple. All you need is some clean water, soap, and a broom. From there, you just sweep and wet the mat and then scrub it down. Once it’s rinsed and dried, you can enjoy your trampoline mat once again.
Does a trampoline get a better bounce in time?
Take a scrubbing brush and soak it in the cleaning solution. Get on the trampoline and scrub the surface thoroughly with light, sweeping strokes. Continue scrubbing until the water runs clean from the trampoline and any black debris is removed from the mesh of the mat.
Rinse the mat with clear water. Take your hose, again use clean water and the gentlest setting possible. Spray the trampoline with your hose until the trampoline runs free. Make sure you rinse your trampoline completely as soap residue can damage the trampoline.
4
Dry the mat with a clean, dry towel. Gently pat the mat with the towel to remove as much moisture as possible. Then let the trampoline dry in the sun for a few hours. Make sure the trampoline is completely dry as even a small amount of moisture can cause someone to slip and injure themselves.
Why is my trampoline mat loose?
Your trampoline’s mat can be loose for a few reasons, from overstretched springs to standard bounce cords. If your trampoline is brand-new, you’ll want to modify your bounce cords, but if it’s no longer a spring chicken, you’ll want to consider replacing the springs.
Does a trampoline get a better bounce in time?
If you answered yes to any of the above questions, then Operation Trampoline Replacement is a try! Whether you need to measure your trampoline mat or find the right size spring, SkyBound USA’s Trampoline Measuring Guide will walk you step-by-step through each measuring process to help you find the right trampoline or trampoline parts.

Can a trampoline mat be repaired?
The damage to trampoline mats can occur in many ways be it by wear and tear, weather conditions or age. Unfortunately, repairs are very limited and specific as to when they can be carried out. A mat can’t be repaired when there is a gaping hole of any sort be it in the middle or near the edge.

A common question for many people with trampoline mats that have holes or damage. Damage to trampoline mats can occur in many ways, be it wear and tear, exposure to the elements or age.
Unfortunately, repairs are very limited and specific as to when they can be performed.
A mat cannot be repaired if there is a gaping hole, either in the center or at the edge.
I hope to help you here if you can fix a trampoline mat.
Various causes and types of holes and tears in trampoline mats:
Center Hole Any hole near the center of a trampoline mat is a short term hole and is unlikely to last long with children jumping on it before it becomes a large hole with the risk of children falling through the hole fall on the ground and make a hole causing a high risk of injury.
Small Poke Hole If the poke hole is small on the side of the mat and is no bigger than a 10c piece, you can try a temporary patch and hand sew it in place. You really shouldn’t count on it lasting very long either.
Small Burn Hole – Small ember burns around the edges are possibly the best type of damage to your trampoline mat. The embers will have burned out and melted the threads along the way. The melted edges protect the mat from fraying or further damage. In this condition it can last a very long time without needing repairs – I have personal experience with this. (I caution that a burn in the center of the mat is unlikely to last as long as one to the edge.)
Long burn mark from a hot sparkler or similar. Even if as in the scenario above, the edge of the burn has melted since it is an elongated burn / this type of burn will not last long and the trampoline really should not be used.
Pulled thread in the mat – this can happen if there are other objects on the trampoline e.g. B. Bicycles or scooters etc. When a thread is pulled into a loop, it can sometimes be pulled back into position by moving your fingers. Try to pull so that the loop lands at least on the bottom of the trampoline mat and not on the top where it could catch fingers or toes. (This is a very rare issue – maybe seen 2 cases in 10 years)
Abraded Mat – If some of the threads have been damaged by abrasions, most commonly from a heavy object landing at an angle on the mat – a scooter, bicycle or moderately heavy branch can cause similar damage, then you should be getting reasonable life out of your mat, without the need for repair. We recommend marking the perimeter of the abrasion with a colored pen or even a white out marker – this way you can easily see any change in the size of the damage – however if you are in doubt as to the stability then please arrange for a replacement as soon as possible.
Broken D-ring – sometimes when the mat is overloaded, a spring D-ring can twist and open in the webbing near the edge of the mat, allowing the spring to loosen. If this occurs, getting a replacement and fitting it is easy enough. You will need to use clamps/pliers on either side of the D-piece once you have the replacement piece to open it up and then thread it through the webbing loop on the mat.
Unraveling – If the seams on the edge of the mat unravel, the security of the webbing loops for the D-rings will be compromised. It is best to remove the mat to do this so that later the mat will be put back in the same place with the same springs, remove the spring and leave it in the frame hole, mark the mat and frame where position one is so you know where to align the hooks with the first correct spring.
Fraying Mat at Edges – Simply replace the mat, this is more likely to occur late in the mat’s life. The threads become brittle, so fraying can be an early indicator to get a new mat.
I hope this was helpful to you and gives you peace of mind and fix your trampoline mat issue. If not, please know if you bought your trampoline from us that we have a mat that fits your trampoline. How long will springfree trampoline last?
Springfree Trampoline is Sturdy
Each Springfree Trampoline comes with a 10-year warranty. The materials are designed to withstand even the harshest outdoor conditions, so no extra covers or storage are required.
Does a trampoline get a better bounce in time?
In the fall of 2018, my son started asking about a trampoline for our backyard. I never grew up with a trampoline, so I wasn’t too familiar with the options out there.
Why did we choose a springless trampoline?
We were doing some research to buy a backyard trampoline when we were approached by Springfree to partner with them for this article. After a little more research, the answer was…of course.
Here are some of the reasons we originally partnered with Springfree and now 3 years later we are still very happy with our Spring Free trampoline.
1. No spring trampoline should be safer
You will not find metal springs on these trampolines. In fact, you won’t find any feathers at all.
The Springfree trampoline uses composite bars to create a bounce, eliminating the possibility of your child becoming trapped by trampoline parts.
2. Spring Free trampolines come with a safety net
One of my favorite features is the flexible safety net that surrounds the Springfree trampoline. My son *loves* jumping into our sides – the net cushions fall and guide the jumpers back onto the jumping surface, which is especially fun for kids. I think it’s great that he can’t fall off the trampoline and hurt himself.
3. No spring trampolines have soft edges
I also love the SoftEdge™ mat, which eliminates any hard edges on the jumping surface and absorbs 30 times more shock than traditional trampoline pads.
I don’t have to worry about my child getting stuck between the springs or falling through with this technology.
4. Spring Free trampolines have hidden trampoline frames
Also, on a Springfree trampoline, the frame is hidden under the mat so jumpers cannot hit it.
5. Springfree trampoline is sturdy
Every Springfree trampoline comes with a 10 year guarantee.
Materials are designed to withstand even the harshest outdoor conditions, eliminating the need for additional covers or storage.
This was important to me because we live in Texas where the summers get super hot and we can expect some ice storms in the winter. I wanted to be sure our trampoline wouldn’t deteriorate in inclement weather and so far it hasn’t.
In fact, our trampoline has been used a lot in the last 3 years and it looks brand new.
Low impact trampoline
One of the first things my son said to me after he got on our Springfree trampoline was that he liked the feeling of jumping.
Because of the way Spring Free trampolines are built, you get a much smoother, non-jarring bounce when you bounce.
The technology behind Springfree trampolines is different than your traditional trampoline. The rods underneath the mat curve towards the center and then straight out again, creating a smooth and extra springy motion.
This low-impact impact is much easier on the joints – such as knees and ankles – than conventional trampolines.
Trampoline as a family gift
A recent survey conducted by Springfree found that 71% of Texas parents say their children play with their toys less than six months after the vacation, and nearly two-thirds of parents are unsure if the money spent on vacation toys spent is a good investment.
Ever since our Springfree trampoline was installed, my son has been going outside to jump almost every day, even if it’s just for five minutes.
Andrew will play imaginary games on the jumping surface. Once I even found him lying on the trampoline reading a book.
A Springfree trampoline is a great way to enjoy fun and safe playtime as a family. My kid and I will take turns jumping to see who is highest. Usually he wins.
Last week I went out to see my husband and dog jumping next to him. The whole family will enjoy the trampoline.
More about trampoline safety
A trampoline is an investment that should not be taken lightly.
According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission, there were nearly 286,000 medically treated trampoline injuries in the United States in 2014.
Where can you buy a Springfree trampoline?
Safety is so important and that’s why we chose Springfree trampolines for our family. To try it yourself, there are two Springfree stores in Dallas where you can test jump and speak to trampoline experts to choose the best trampoline for your backyard.

How Long Do Trampolines Last? A Quick Guide
Trampolines are more than just garden accessories; They are also an investment that you need to take good care of. Over time, trampolines can lose their flexibility and sturdiness. To get the best out of them, it is important to ensure their longevity through proper maintenance.
It all starts with the question, “How long do trampolines last?” In this guide we will look at the lifespan of an average trampoline and the steps needed to keep them in top shape.
The average lifespan of a trampoline

Trampoline Mat FAQ
Check out the questions below to find your answer to the most commonly asked questions about trampoline mats and jumping surfaces.
Q: I am looking for a replacement mat (jumping surface). How do I find the right size?
A: To find the right mat size you need to have the following measurements:
frame shape
Frame size (diameter from top rail to top rail)
number of springs
Spring length (from hook end to hook end).
Once you have these measurements, enter them into the mat wizard and the wizard will create your mat.
Note: Two results may appear when you enter your measurements. This means that several brands use the same measurements but have mats with different diameters, so you need to know the brand name in this case. For example, if you have a 12′ round frame with 72 5.5″ springs, your mat is for either a Bravo trampoline or a Bounce Pro trampoline. The only difference between the two is the diameter of the mat. The reason all four measurements can be the same but the mat diameter can still be different is because different brands use different thicknesses for their frame parts. Therefore, the thicker gauge frame uses a smaller mat than the thinner gauge frame, although the spring length, number of springs, and frame size are the same for both.
Q: Is there a difference between the trampoline mat and the trampoline pad?
A: Yes. The trampoline mat is the jumping surface and the trampoline mat covers the springs and frame.
Q: How do I measure my round trampoline mat?
A: Because your mat will stretch with use, we recommend using the frame size, frame diameter, number of springs, and spring length to find a replacement, not the mat diameter.
Measure the diameter of your mat, excluding the steel V-rings, with a tape measure. For best results, take several measurements at different points on the trampoline and use the average diameter. Note: Because your mat will stretch during use, we recommend using the frame size, frame diameter, number of springs, and spring length to find a replacement, not the mat diameter.

Q: How do I measure my rectangular/square trampoline mat?
A: Measure the length and width of your mat, not including the steel V-rings, with a tape measure. For best results, take multiple measurements (2-3) at different points on the trampoline and use the average length.
Because your mat will stretch with use, we recommend using the frame size, frame diameter, number of springs, and spring length to find a replacement, not the mat size
Q: How do I measure my oval trampoline mat?
A: Measure the width (from the widest point in the middle) and the length.
Q: If my mat has a hole, how do I measure it?
A: If your mat has a hole, DO NOT attempt to measure it. Instead, use the frame diameter, number of springs, and spring length to determine what mat size you need.
Q: How do I install my new round replacement mat?
A:
1. Place the mat in the trampoline
2. Attach the first 8 springs in a star-shaped pattern, moving from side to side to distribute the springs’ pull
Common Mistake: Most first-time mat installers forget to line up the V-rings on the mat with the holes in the frame. If you don’t line up the V-rings with the holes in the frame, your mat will be crooked.
How to avoid this error:
If your mat has 72 V-rings, after installing the 1 spring and the 2 spring on both sides, there should be 35 empty holes between them (If your mat has 80 springs, there should be 39 on each side; 88 springs, there should be 43 be).
After you attach springs 3 and 4, there should be 17 empty holes in each of the four quarters (If you had 80 springs, there should be 19 empty holes in each of the four quarters; 88 springs, 21 empty holes in each quarter).
Then attach the 5,6,7 and 8 between the quarters. There should now be 8 empty holes between each feather (if you had 80 feathers, there should be 9 empty holes between each feather; 88 feathers, 10 empty holes between each feather).
Now you can be sure that your mat and springs are properly aligned.
3. After you are done with the first 8 springs, attach every fourth spring clockwise from the first spring.
4. Returning to the first spring (spring #1 in the diagram), attach the remaining springs clockwise and fill in the remaining springs.
Note: If the sun is shining, please let the sun hit the mat before installing it. This will heat the mat and make installation easier.
Q: What tools do I need to install my trampoline mat?
A: You need a spring tool and someone to help you. If you don’t have a spring tool, you can use a screwdriver. But be careful!
Q: What is the weight limit of your trampoline mats?
A: 350 pounds.
Q: How do I install my new square or rectangular replacement mat?
A:
Place the mat in the trampoline.
Attach two silver springs to each corner of the square trampoline. After you’re done with this step, you should have a total of 8 springs attached.
To attach the springs, hook one end of the spring into the mat v-ring and then hook the other end of the spring into the frame.
Now insert the golden center springs.
Count 11 squares in from the corner and attach the first golden feather.
Repeat this step on each side.
Then attach a gold feather on each side of the middle one. After this step you should have three feathers in the middle of each side.
Count five holes clockwise from the corner and attach a silver spring. Then count 5 more and attach the other one (skip the gold feathers). Continue this sequence until you get back to the start.
Finally, attach all the remaining silver feathers, one side at a time.
Note: If the sun is shining, please let the sun hit the mat before installing it. This will heat the mat and make installation easier.
Q: Can I extend the life of my trampoline mat?
A: Yes
Protect your mat with a weatherproof cover when not in use.
Apply anti-UV spray to the mat itself to combat the sun’s harmful rays.
Store your trampoline indoors during harsh winter weather.
Tie down your trampoline with an anchor set so the wind doesn’t catch it and blow it against a sharp object.
so that the wind does not catch it and blow into a sharp object. Do not exceed the weight limit (250-300 lbs.)
Q: How do I make my trampoline mat safe?
A: Periodically check the following:
Punctures, tears, frays or holes in the trampoline mat
Drawn seams around matte V-rings
Bent or missing V-rings
Faded mat due to prolonged UV exposure
Missing feathers
Or print out the maintenance inspection checklist
Q: Will a smaller mat fit if I use longer springs?
A: Yes. But you would have to replace all of your springs if you wanted to upgrade to a longer spring when you bought the trampoline.
Q: Do I need to know the brand name of my trampoline to ensure I find the right mat?
On a. But it definitely helps. You need the:
frame shape
Frame size (diameter from frame end to frame end)
count spring
spring length
You can also measure your mat diameter, but since your mat will stretch after use, this measurement will almost always be inaccurate. In some cases, when two different brands have different frame thicknesses but the same frame size, spring count and spring length, you need to know the brand. If you can’t find the brand, call us at (888) 891-4689 (9am – 5pm PST), email us at [email protected], or drop us a line in the live chat at the bottom right corner of this screen.
Q: How can I get more bounce out of my trampoline?
A:
You can replace the springs with fresh new ones. And longer springs mean more bounce.
In the end, always use springs with a spiral (cone) shape. These have more force than springs with coils of the same diameter. To find your cone nibs visit our nibs page.
Q: Is there a top and bottom of the trampoline mat?
A: Yes. The bottom is the side where you can see the threads for the V-rings. This should be facing down.
Q: Why is my mat diameter different when I measure it from the mat?
A: When you measure your mat on the trampoline, it is stretched. When you take it off, it’s less stretched, but still larger than when you originally bought it. For this reason, we recommend using the frame size, number of springs and spring length to determine the correct mat size.
Q: What is a V ring?
A: The V-rings are stainless steel hooks sewn into the mat. This is where you connect the springs to the mat. One hook of the spring attaches to the V-ring, the other hook attaches to the frame.
Q: What is your warranty for your mats?
A: All of our mats come with a 5 year prorated warranty. Pro-rated means the warranty will cover less as the mat wears and ages. Because of this,
100% of defects are covered in the first year
60% for the second year, 50% for the third year
40% for the fourth year
30% for the fifth year (the last year of the guarantee)
Q: How often should I replace my trampoline mat?
A: This all depends on how often the mat has been used and what weather conditions it has been exposed to. But in general we recommend that you replace your trampoline mat about every 2 years. This ensures maximum bounce and safety. If your mat has a hole, tear, or loose thread, you should replace it immediately.
Q: How much weight does the mat hold?
A: Our mats can support up to 400 pounds, although we do not recommend having multiple jumpers on the mat at the same time.
Q: What if my mat doesn’t have V-rings?
A: If your mat doesn’t have V-rings, it’s probably a very old model. If this is the case, please visit our mat categories page, call us at (888) 891-4689 (9am-5pm PST), email us at [email protected], or send Message us Live Chat in the lower right corner of this screen. We are happy to help you find the right mat.
Q: How do I know when to replace my trampoline mat?
A: If your mat shows any of the following, replace it immediately:
Punctures, tears, frays or holes in the trampoline mat
Pulled seams around mat V-rings Bent or missing V-rings
Faded mat due to prolonged UV exposure
Missing feathers (in this case you can replace the missing feathers, but defer use until you have all the required feathers)
Q: What are your mats made of?
A: All mats are made from a material called Permatron. This material is made from 100% US patented polypropylene and carbon. Chinese manufacturers mix cheaper materials, resulting in unsafe mats that quickly erode from the sun’s UV rays. Unfortunately, the cheaper stuff is almost impossible to see with the naked eye, and you won’t know you’ve got a cheap mesh until it’s too late. In fact, this cheaper material does not degrade gradually, but in a split second. Oops!
Does a trampoline get a better bounce in time?
Why do trampolines get bouncier for kids over time?
A great question that I didn’t know the answer to for a while as I hadn’t thought about it; or even experienced our trampolines long enough to know the answer for sure.
Well now I have…
how do we know
The big advantage for us is our large exhibition of 18 trampolines; where the public can jump on one of the trampolines for as long as they like. Here we get a lot of feedback on our round/rectangular trampolines and the Vuly trampolines, including the bounce and similar differences that; Children and adults feel and notice.
The information we get from discussions and observations is incredibly valuable and meaningful; into useful data so that we can provide our customers, wherever they live, with very good advice and recommendations.
If people were to ask this question, “Do your trampolines get more bouncy with time and use?”
I really didn’t know the answer and would have to say it.
Parents would put the question to us; as if they didn’t really believe or understand what their children were telling them; since they themselves would not have noticed the difference to their home trampoline.
Over time, however, I realized what children actually mean by this question.
The children have usually had personal experiences on their own trampolines or on a friend’s trampoline.
Over time, they were able to achieve better bounce, greater height, and overall more fun.
When choosing a new trampoline, “balancing the bounce that will increase over time” is part of their considerations to determine which trampoline they want and to ensure that the new trampoline also gets better bounce over a few years.
I know that now, can only be determined by the child’s age and size; and whether they are likely to become heavier in the near future.
A trampoline jump is dependent on the weight of the users, so younger and lighter children would notice this more than parents and older teenagers.
The conclusion is;
Only that they are heavier now than they were when they got their trampoline and can now get a better jump is their interpretation; Trampolines get more bouncy as they get older.
In reality, as children get older they get heavier and can jump higher, they get better leg muscles too!
Choosing a trampoline is a “Goldilocks” time spent finding the “just right” trampoline.
If you would like to know what your child’s “Goldilocks” trampoline is, send us a message here with your children’s age and approximate weight and if they are boys/girls and we can advise what size we think they are best suits them. Or simply give us a call on (03) 5292 1100
