New: Share Feed Posts on Instagram Stories

Instagram has a number of features that allow us to interact with other accounts on the platform. However, they may not always work as they are supposed to. If you ran into trouble while trying to share an Instagram post to your Stories, you’ve come to the right place. There are various reasons why you might have difficulties.

Look no further than this step-by-step guide to fixing post sharing errors on your Instagram Stories. Let’s start by finding out why this feature might not work in your account.

Why post is not shared to Instagram story

There are three main reasons why you might have trouble sharing a post on your Instagram Stories.

account type

You can’t share a post in your story if the Add Post to Story button is missing. This feature is only available for public profiles. If you try to share a post from a private account, the share button won’t appear and you won’t be able to continue.

You can check if the displayed Instagram account is public or private. To do this, open Instagram in Incognito mode and look for the same account. If the profile is private, the posts will not appear and the account page will say “This account is private”.

Sharing permission withheld

The second reason you might not be able to share a post in your story is if the other account has disabled sharing. An Instagram account owner can prevent followers from re-sharing their content. In this case, the Add Post to Story button is unavailable. Post sharing can be disabled by following the steps below:

Open the “Instagram” app and tap on your “Profile” icon.

Tap the “three lines” in the top right corner and select “Settings”.

Select “Privacy” and then “Story”.

Toggle to turn off the Allow Sharing in Story option.

Instagram glitches

If your Instagram app is not updated, your account may not show the “Add posts to story” button. It could also be that the platform has some problems at its end. Instagram is also rolling out different features in different places, so your account may not have the “Add Post to Story” option.

How To Fix When Unable To Share Post On Instagram Story

Here are some of the most common Instagram Story sharing fixes.

#1. Reset resharing toggle

Resetting the “Allow stories to be reshared” toggle might do the trick. To do this, you must first deactivate the toggle.

Open the “Instagram” app and tap on your “Profile” icon.

Tap the “hamburger icon” (three-line menu) in the top-right corner.

Go to “Settings -> Privacy”.

Navigate to “Story” and then toggle “Allow Sharing in Story” to turn it off.

After the feature has been disabled, restart your device and re-enable it. Open the “Instagram app” and tap on your “profile icon”.

Tap the “hamburger icon” (three horizontal lines) in the top-right corner.

Go to “Settings -> Privacy”.

Select “Story” and then toggle the “Allow sharing in story” option.

#2. Uninstall Instagram

Uninstalling Instagram and then reinstalling the app might fix your problem when trying to share posts on the platform. Rest assured that all your Instagram posts and followers will remain intact.

#3. clear cache

Open “Settings” and navigate to “Apps” or “Apps & notifications”.

Select “Instagram”.

Then tap on “Storage” or “Storage & Cache” and select “Clear Cache”.

Try sharing a post to see if the issue has been resolved.

Surprisingly, using another phone to reshare a post often solves the “add post to story” issue. Some users find that the Add Post to Story button reappears after logging into their account from another device.

#5. make account public

If you have a private account, your friends and followers cannot repost your photos. You can make your account public by following the steps below:

Go to “Settings” and then to “Privacy”.

Go to your “Instagram app” and tap on your “profile icon”.

Navigate to “Settings” and then to “Help”.

When prompted, click Report a Problem.

Enter the issue. You can even take a screenshot of the problem.

If the Add Post To My Story button is still missing, it’s time to get creative. You can take a screenshot of the post you want to share and upload it to your page. The user will not receive a notification if you share their post in this way, so you should probably tag them in it to give them proper credit and avoid confrontation or litigation. However, this method does not work when you want to share a video.

You’ve also seen what challenges you might encounter. Of course, there is also the alternative method mentioned above to successfully share a post on your Stories.

Why can’t I share Instagram posts to my story?

The ‘Add post to story’ button is only available for public accounts. If you are trying to share a post from a private account, you will not see the button in the sharing menu under the post. Check posts from other accounts, preferably from a celebrity, and see if you can view the resharing option.

New: Share Feed Posts on Instagram Stories

Instagram has many interesting features. One of them is the ability to share posts from your feed with Stories. Interestingly, you can share your own and others’ posts in your stories. While it sounds exciting to hear, some Instagram users don’t have the “Add Posts to Story” button. Wondering why you can’t share posts to Stories on Instagram? Let’s find out the answer.

Sharing posts on Stories has many benefits. First, it increases the visibility of the posts. Second, it makes sharing someone else’s posts personal and interactive, especially if you have a business account. Last but not least, it’s easier than taking screenshots of the post and adding them to your story.

Let’s see what is the reason for not being able to share posts and how to fix it.

Why can’t I share posts to the story on Instagram?

There are three main reasons for this. Let’s take a look.

1. Account Type

The Add Post to Story button is only available for public accounts. When trying to share a post from a private account, the share menu button below the post does not appear. Check posts from other accounts, preferably a celebrity, and see if you can see the re-share option.

Note: It doesn’t matter if your account is private or public. We’re talking about the account you want to share from.

To check if Instagram account is private or public, open Instagram website in Incognito mode. Then look for the same account. The profile would be public if their posts are visible. If the posts are hidden, the profile is private. You will also see the text “This account is private”.

2. Permission to Share

If the account is public, another thing that can account for the missing Add Post to Story button may be sharing permission. That means the other person might have turned off the ability to let others reshare their Instagram posts to Stories. In this case, the button for this account is not displayed. However, check posts from other public accounts. Again, it doesn’t matter if you have this option enabled for your account or not. This depends on the account you are trying to share from.

How to disable sharing your posts in Stories

If you don’t want others to share your posts in their Stories, do the following:

Step 1: Launch the Instagram app and go to your profile screen. Tap the three-bar icon at the top and select Settings.

Step 2: Tap on Privacy and then on Story.

Step 3: Uncheck Allow stories to be reshared.

Tip: Find out what the archive is on Instagram and how to use it.

3. Instagram itself

Finally, the feature may be missing for your profile. Instagram typically rolls out features in phases. That said, not everyone gets the features at the same time. Even if this is the case, the functions can be lost accidentally. However, you can try the following fixes to get the Add Post To Story button.

How to fix Instagram posts can’t be shared to Stories

Check out the solutions below.

1. Disable and enable Resharing Toggle

Repeat the above steps to disable re-sharing. So, turn off the toggle next to Allow stories to be reshared. Restart your phone after deactivation. Then enable it again.

2. Uninstall Instagram

You should also try uninstalling the Instagram app from your phone. This will not delete any of your published posts or stories. Even your followers remain intact.

To delete the app on your Android, open the Play Store and search for Instagram. Tap Uninstall. On iPhone, tap and hold the Instagram app icon on the home screen until it starts to shake. Then tap the cross icon to uninstall it.

Pro Tip: Check out 5 cool ways to delete apps from iPhone and iPad.

After uninstalling Instagram, restart your phone. Then reinstall the app.

3. Clear cache (Android only)

On Android, you should clear the cache for the Instagram app. Again, your published posts and stories stay safe on Instagram.

To clear Instagram app cache, follow these steps:

Step 1: Open Settings on your phone and go to Apps & notifications.

Step 2: Under All apps, tap on Instagram.

Step 3: Tap Storage and then tap Clear Cache.

4. Check from another phone

If you want to share a post as your story, you can try logging in from another phone. Even if the solution sounds bizarre, it has worked for many users. Once they log in from another phone, they can see the Add Post to Story button on their own account.

Try a new account

If you recently joined Instagram and have a small number of followers, you can try creating a new account. Most new accounts have this feature. However, we wouldn’t recommend creating a new account if you have a lot of Instagram followers. We know how difficult it is to gain followers on Instagram.

The best thing you can do is wait. In the meantime, you should take a screenshot of the post and add it to your story. Don’t forget to tag the person.

1. Find a photo on Instagram that you want to repost and take a screenshot with your phone.

For iOS: Simultaneously press the Home and Lock buttons until your screen flashes.

For Android: Simultaneously press the sleep/wake and volume down buttons until your screen flashes.

2. Tap the New Post button.

Once you get your screenshot, go back to your Instagram account. Tap the New Post button (the plus sign in a square) at the top right of your Instagram screen.

Then select Post (other options include Story, Reels, or Live).

3. Resize the photo in the app.

Remember that your phone takes a screenshot of everything on your screen, not just the photo you’re about to repost. So be prepared to crop the sides of the screenshot to capture only the image you want to share with your followers.

After you’ve cropped or resized the photo to your liking (by pinching the image and then spreading your fingers), click “Next” at the top right of your screen.

4. Edit and add filters of your choice.

Edit and filter the post like any other Instagram post.

5. Add a quote.

The repost does not include a quote, so we recommend adding one by typing “@ + [username]” to attribute the photo you are reposting to the original poster.

6. Add a caption.

At the top you’ll see a preview of your post along with space for a caption. You can tag people or organizations and add a location.

7. Click Share.

After customizing the post using the options above, click Share in the top right corner. The post will be live.

This is what the finished product looks like:

Instagram reposting apps

Besides using the screenshot method, you can also use a third-party app. The following options are our favorite apps for reposting on Instagram.

1. Download Repost: For Instagram.

Download Repost: For Instagram for iOS or Android. The app integrates directly with Instagram, allowing you to share content from other Instagram users from your mobile device.

2. Identify a photo or video to repost.

Open your Instagram app and find a photo or video that you want to repost from your own Instagram account. Tap on your selected photo from the original poster photo gallery to view it in full as shown below.

(Psst – do you follow HubSpot on Instagram?)

3. Copy the post’s share URL to your clipboard.

Once you’re on the photo or video’s landing page, tap the “…” icon in the top-right corner of the post. Then tap “Copy Link”.

4. Open Repost: For Instagram.

Once the photo has been copied to your phone’s clipboard, open Repost: For Instagram. The copied post will automatically appear in the app’s inbox as shown below.

Tap the arrow on the right side of the post. There you can edit how you want the repost icon to appear on Instagram. The app also allows you to add an attribution mark right on the image.

You can choose to copy the original caption to your post or add a new one later.

Next, tap on “Share”.

5. Choose to post to your feed, story, or message.

For our purposes, we’ll click Post.

6. Edit the post’s title and share your repost.

Write a caption and finally click “OK”.

When you’re ready to share the post, tap “Share” like you would with a regular Instagram post.

1. Download Reposta.

Download Reposta for Android or Apple devices to get started.

2. In Instagram, copy a URL of an image you want to repost.

Open your Instagram and copy and paste the URL as you did in the Repost: For Instagram instructions (Step 3 above).

3. Open Reposta to find your image.

Reposta will automatically open a URL once you’ve copied it. Now in Reposta you can edit the mapping (including color and positioning) as well as the caption itself.

4. Click “Post to Instagram”.

Below your picture you will see some options. For our purposes, select “Post to Instagram”. (Alternatively, you can save the image to use on another date.)

5. Choose whether to post to your feed or to your Instagram story.

You have two choices here: Story or Feed. Click Feed.

6. Next, crop your image as usual.

Feel free to resize or crop your image in this step. When you’re done, click Next.

7. Edit your picture and apply filters in Instagram app.

Here you select a filter and edit the image like any other Instagram image. When you’re done, click Next.

8. Change the caption and repost.

Feel free to credit the image owner in your caption—but remember that you also gave credit to them in the image itself. Add a location and tag people if you want, then click share when you’re done.

This is how the post will appear on your Instagram profile:

Using DownloadGram

DownloadGram allows Instagram users to download high-resolution copies of Instagram photos and videos to repost from their own accounts. Luckily, there’s no app you need to download to repost using this method. That’s how it’s done:

1. Open Instagram and find a photo or video to repost.

Open your Instagram app and find the post you want to repost. Tap the “…” icon at the top right corner of the post and click “Copy URL” (this button is the same for both iOS and Android mobile devices).

2. Paste the post’s share URL into DownloadGram.

Open your mobile internet browser and navigate to DownloadGram – or simply to downloadgram.org. Paste the URL into the text box that appears on the website home page. Then tap Download.

Tap the Download Image button that appears near the bottom of DownloadGram’s homepage.

3. Download the post.

You will be redirected to a new web page where the content can be downloaded. Tap the download icon — the box with an upward-pointing arrow, as shown below — then tap “Save Image.”

4. Open Instagram and find the photo or video in your camera roll.

Return to your Instagram app. The image will be saved to your phone’s native camera roll, so edit it like you would any other Instagram post.

5. Add a caption and share your repost.

The repost does not include a quote, so we recommend adding one by typing “@ + [username]” to attribute the photo or video to the original poster. Then press “Share”. This is how the post will appear on your Instagram profile:

1. Open the Instagram app and find the photo or video you want to add to your story.

2. Click the paper airplane icon at the bottom of the post.

3. Click on “Add post to your story”.

4. Personalize the draft post with stickers or text.

You should see a draft of your story. Use the icons above to change text, color, stickers and other animations.

5. Click on “Your Story” on the bottom left.

You also have the option to click Close Friends in the bottom right corner (shown above) if you only want a select group to see your story.

Once you click “Your Story” you will see the option to click “Share” to repost your picture to your Instagram Story.

Stories should follow the same best practices as sharing a post. If you don’t know the person and suspect that the content you are trying to share may be licensed material, ask permission first. Whenever possible, give credit to the original posters.

Why should your brand repost on Instagram?

First of all, it’s important to understand the benefits of reposting images and videos.

Simply put, it takes a lot of time, effort, and resources to consistently create high-quality social content. And since most marketers post between 3 and 4 times a week, it’s important that you have a backlog of content to keep up with demand.

In addition, user-generated content (UGC) performs extremely well. In fact, 90% of consumers say UGC has more influence on their purchasing decisions than promotional emails and even search engine results.

Reposting on Instagram can help you highlight brand recommendations from your customers, brand loyalists, and employees. UGC is usually considered more trustworthy because a consumer gains nothing by promoting your product or service (unless it’s an advertisement) – they only do it to let their audience know they like your product.

For example, consider the power of Warby Parker reposting this funny image from one of his clients, @cjronson:

As well as likely appealing to Warby Parker’s customers, the image will ultimately make life easier for Warby Parker’s marketers – now they don’t have to create all their own content in-house.

Share your favorite Instagram posts

Now that you’ve learned how to repost on Instagram, you can diversify your profile with content from friends, family, and brands. Use the methods above – make sure to credit the source of the original post – to quickly and easily reshare your favorite content.

How do I find Instagram friends on Snapchat?

Link your Snapchat URL to your Instagram bio

Instead of using a QR code, you can direct people to the link http://snapchat.com/add/yourusername, and if they open that link on a mobile device, it will instantly open your Snapchat profile in the Snapchat app. So cool!

New: Share Feed Posts on Instagram Stories

Snapchat is fast becoming the hottest social network for marketers, but figuring out how to get more Snapchat friends is a tall order! Snapchat is only available on mobile, and just posting your Snapchat QR code on your social profiles isn’t very effective. Since you’ve already invested so much in growing your Instagram communities, why not start there first? Here are 6 strategies to help you get more Snapchat friends via Instagram:

1 . Tease your Snapchat story on Instagram

A great way to get more Snapchat friends is by telling your Instagram followers about your Snapchat story! Instead of just asking them to add you, give them a reason to add you by teasing your content on Instagram and letting your followers know what you’re going to snap today. Bloglovin’ schedules weekly takeovers with bloggers on their Snapchat and then shares it in the caption of an Instagram post. If you’ve set days of the week for Snapchat content, like Bloglovin’s acquisitions or Everlane’s “Transparency Tuesday,” you can easily schedule Instagram posts in advance and write about today’s Snapchat story in the caption.

2 . Do not publish the QR code

Simply posting your Snapchat ghost on your Instagram profile and asking people to follow you will not help you get more Snapchat friends. Today’s teens (and adults!) have a lot of Snapchat friends, and they don’t necessarily want to add more friends on Snapchat. Instead, think about how you can use your product in weird or interesting ways to get people’s attention. When you attract your Instagram or Twitter followers with something unique and creative that’s exclusive to your Snapchat channel, they’ll come check it out and you’ll get more Snapchat friends!

And frankly… at this point the yellow ghost QR code is not only redundant, it also starts to get annoying and spammy. Read more about the 3 mistakes businesses make on Snapchat here.

3 . Add your Snapchat handle to your Instagram bio

This may seem obvious, but an easy way to get more Snapchat friends is by adding your Snapchat handle to your Instagram bio! There are two ways to do this: You can either write “Snapchat: latermedia” or “????: latermedia” (most people understand the ghost emoji as “Snapchat”). If you’re looking for other ways to boost your Instagram bio, here are 5 ways brands can use Instagram bios.

4 . Link your Snapchat URL to your Instagram bio

Did you know Snapchat has a URL perfect for sharing your profile? Instead of using a QR code, you can direct people to the link http://snapchat.com/add/yourusername, and when they open that link on a mobile device, your Snapchat profile will instantly open in the Snapchat app. cool Do you want to try it? If you’re reading this on a mobile device, just click here to add us to Snapchat!

Unfortunately, Instagram has blocked “Add Me” deeplinking for some other social media services within the app. So if you try to add your Snapchat “Add Me” URL directly to your Instagram bio, it won’t work. But I recently found that if you first shorten your Snapchat URL with a link shortener like Bit.ly, and then paste your Bit.ly link in your Instagram bio, it will work! You might not always want this in your bio, but it’s a great strategy if you’re looking to start your Snapchat and get more Snapchat friends or have an exciting story that you want to promote. Just post a photo on Instagram and tell your followers to click the link in your bio to add you! See how I did it on my Instagram profile here.

5 . Post Snapchat content to your Instagram

There’s nothing wrong with double-dipping your content! By posting some of your best Snapchat content to Instagram, your followers will get a taste of what your Snapchat style is and what to expect when they add you. If they see your snaps on Instagram and like what you post, they will be more inclined to add you! Take a cue from Instagram queen Kim Kardashian, who also adds her Snapchat username to her caption to entice her Instagram followers to add her on Snapchat as well.

6 . Offer deals and exclusives on Snapchat

Ultimately, the easiest way to get more Snapchat friends is by offering something you can only get on Snapchat. Whether you’re doing a giveaway exclusively for your Snapchat friends, giving a taste of an upcoming product, or just creating and posting a discount code that can only be found on Snapchat. People love free stuff! So much so that Snapchat influencer @Shonduras hosts his own “Free Stuff Fridays” each week to engage his Snapchat fan base and make more Snapchat friends.

How to Post Instagram Videos on Snapchat and Vice Versa?

In recent years, the role of social media platforms in business success has been inevitable. In this regard, all companies have joined at least one channel to increase their visibility and get more impressions. However, choosing the best platform for businesses has proven to be very difficult and sometimes even impossible. Because of this, many marketers join multiple channels and try to tie them together and promote content across them, rather than capitalizing on one. Among all the options available, Instagram and Snapchat seem to be more popular among young teenagers. But how to post Instagram videos to Snapchat or link these two to benefit from both?

Below, I’ll show you everything you need to connect Instagram to Snapchat and use both to grow your business. So stay tuned and learn everything!

How to Upload Snapchat Videos to Instagram?

A few years ago, Instagram introduced the Stories feature, which was totally similar to Snapchat videos, with filters and fun story games. However, people still prefer to use Snapchat because it has more filters and there are a few fun features that aren’t available on Instagram yet!

If you are one of these people, sometimes you need to share a Snapchat video on your Instagram account to amuse your followers. But how can you do that?

Unfortunately, Snapchat doesn’t have any features that allow you to directly upload Snapchat videos to Instagram feeds or stories. But hopefully you can save Snapchat videos and manually upload them to Instagram just like when you share something from your photo gallery. To do this, simply follow the steps below:

First, record your Snapchat video and then tap the Save button at the bottom of the screen. Open your Snapchat memories and save your intended video to your photo gallery. Then go to Instagram Posts or Stories and upload the saved video.

That’s it! You just shared a Snapchat video with your Instagram followers. But how to post Instagram videos on Snapchat? Just take a look!

How do I post Instagram videos and photos to Snapchat?

Shared a photo or video on your Instagram feed and want to share it on Snapchat too? Luckily, Instagram allows you to post a published video or photo directly to Snapchat. To do this, simply proceed as follows:

Open your desired Instagram post and tap the three dots icon in the top right corner of the post. Now tap on the “Share to…” button. Finally, choose Snapchat from the list that appears and just post your Instagram video to Snapchat.

Now let’s see how to upload your stories to Snapchat!

How to Post Instagram Stories on Snapchat?

Yes! Some people still prefer using Snapchat filters. But with the advent of Instagram-branded tools and new features being released with every single update, many people prefer to share what they create on Instagram stories on other social media channels like Snapchat.

Unfortunately, to share Instagram stories on Snapchat, you have to follow the same path as sharing a Snapchat video on Instagram. This means that you should do the following for this:

Take your Instagram story, add gifs, custom stickers, music, etc. Then save your Instagram story to your photo gallery. And finally, open the Snapchat app and upload your content there!

Finished! You have successfully posted an Instagram story on Snapchat. But wouldn’t it be great if you could connect these two channels and lead people without posting Instagram videos directly to Snapchat or vice versa? Definitely would! So read on to see how to do it!

How to connect Instagram to Snapchat?

An easy way to link Instagram to Snapchat is to add your Snapchat profile link on Instagram. I’m pretty sure you all know how to do this and there’s no difficulty in it. Just copy your Snapchat profile link from settings and paste it in your Instagram bio.

But there’s a problem when you have to share more than one link in your bio. As you know Instagram allows you to add one and only one link to your bio and if that is Snapchat it means you can no longer link to Facebook, Twitter and even your website. So what can you do to link all your social media channels at once?

The answer is to use an all-in-one Instagram bio link tool like MyURLs.bio. With this totally free bio link tool, you can:

Add unlimited links to your bio,

Track your link clicks and analyze the number of clicks on each link you share.

Add links to Instagram posts and stories,

Create custom CTAs and add them to your bio without a business account.

Link all social media channels with their widgets,

And much more. With this tool pack, you no longer have to worry about linking your social channels. To know what your link looks like, just take a look at the image below:

How to Add your Snapchat Story to your Instagram Story

My biggest complaint when Instagram released Stories was that it would be impossible to maintain a Story in both Snapchat and Instagram. But it turns out you can add saved videos and images — including your Snapchat story — to your story in Instagram. Here’s how:

To add saved images or videos to Instagram Stories:

Open the Instagram app. Tap the camera icon in the top left or swipe right. Swipe down from the top of the screen. Select a saved photo or video from the last 24 hours. Choose a filter, doodle or add an emoji. Upload the photo or video to your story by clicking the check mark below.

If you are trying to add your snapchat story to your instagram story, just download your story from snapchat. Remember that you are only allowed to upload images to your Instagram story that have been taken/downloaded in the last 24 hours.

<>

To download your Snapchat story:

Open the Snapchat app. Swipe left to open Stories. Find your story at the top and select the icon on the right with the down arrow to download box. If you use reminders, the story will be saved there; If not, the story will be saved in your photos. If you’re using Memories, select the story from Memories and save the video (up arrow icon out of a box). The image or video is saved in your photos. Open Instagram and follow the instructions above to load your Snapchat story into Instagram Stories.

New: Share Feed Posts on Instagram Stories

Today we’re introducing a new way to easily share feed posts to your story.

When you come across something inspiring in Feed — like a post from a friend raising money for a good cause, or a photo of a new design from your favorite brand — you can now quickly share that post with your friends and followers as a sticker in your story see.

To share a feed post to your story, just tap the paper airplane button below the post, as if you were sending it through Direct. At the top you will now see the option to create a story. Tap it to view the feed post as a sticker with a custom background, ready to share with your story. You can rotate, scale and move the sticker – and tap to discover other styles.

All posts shared to Stories will display the username of the original poster. When you see a post in someone’s story, you can tap on it to review the original post and see more of the person who made it.

You can only share posts from public accounts. If you don’t want other people to share your posts in Stories, you can easily turn this off in Settings.

To learn more about today’s update, visit the Instagram Help Center. Today’s updates are now available for Android and will be available for iOS in the coming days.
