Cat Litter Envelope

An envelope is a pasty solution. One you can try on your driveway uses old-fashioned kitty litter as the main ingredient. “Old-fashioned” is the operative term: newer cat litter formulations contain synthetic ingredients that aren’t as effective for making a driveway cleaning wrap because they’re not as absorbent. Simple, old-fashioned cat litter is clay-based, which is much more effective at picking up grease and dirt.

Sprinkle the cat litter over the dark spots, then add just enough water to form a thick paste. Work the paste in with a stiff brush and allow the poultice to dry completely. The drying process pulls dirt and grease into the envelope and out of the concrete. Once the poultice is dry, use your garden hose to spray it down the driveway.

Cat litter and detergent pack

Another cat litter poultice recipe is a two-step approach. First apply the cat litter to the concrete and scrub with a wire brush to lift up dirt and oil until it becomes grainy. Then sprinkle a white washing powder on the kitty litter mixture and scrub the surface again. The detergent detergents add brighteners and whiteners. Then top up the combined dry ingredients of litter and cleaning agent with just enough water to form a paste-like poultice and scrub the concrete again. Allow the paste to dry and hose down the driveway.

Lime and mineral turpentine can also be used to make an envelope. Mix 1 part lime with 2 parts turpentine to make the poultice and spread on dirty spots on your driveway. If the asphalted area softens, use a lower dilution of 60ml of product in 5 liters of water and repeat the treatment 1 month later.

I realize there are a lot of things that aren’t very practical to remove like your house, cars, big trees (and maybe even the neighbor’s house) but if you can trim back overhanging branches and bushes it will really help , to reduce future moss growth.

If no treatment is carried out after removing moss manually, you can effectively aggravate the problem by dispersing the spores.

TREATMENTS TO KILL MOSS AND ALGAE

Treatment options depend on application method and required surface cleanliness; Do you just want to destroy the moss or do you want to clean and renovate the asphalt at the same time?

Option 1 – Clean the asphalt, then rinse with Moss and Algae Killer and Prevention.

After brushing your asphalt surface, spray the area with BATIFACE. This cleaner should be left on the surface for 15-30 minutes before either hose down and brushing or ideally rinsing off with a SMALL POWER WASHER. The rinsing process is necessary not only to rinse away the product but also to remove the now dead moss, any dirt and generally clean the surface. This method is particularly effective when surfaces become slippery in the winter months as the BATIFACE is strong enough to penetrate deep into the surface and ensure all moss/algae growth has died and can be washed away.

BATIFACE makes cleaning the surface easy, and you’ll find that after rinsing the surface, the driveway has almost returned to its original color. This option is also beneficial when the task needs to be completed quickly, within hours from start to finish.

Once the area is cleaned and dry we recommend the application of CONCENTRATED MOSS AND ALGAE KILLER – Baticlean CR. Baticlean CR kills any remaining moss spores that may have been missed on the initial treatment, preventing future moss growth and reducing the need for further treatment.

Baticlean CR should not be rinsed off the surface. This can inhibit the regrowth of moss and spores.

BATICLEAN CR is a concentrated product. Once diluted it covers up to 30 square meters per liter – at £4.70 per litre: LESS THAN 16 PENCE PER SQUARE METER.

Option 2 – Kill the moss and algae and prevent regrowth – no cleaning required.

Once you’ve brushed the surface to remove as much moss as possible, simply spray the area with BATICLEAN CR. As with the previous option, the product kills moss on the asphalt as well as the spores and is designed to remain on the surface where it can inhibit regrowth.

Baticlean CR should be sprayed onto a DRY surface with no rain expected. The moss and algae will gradually die off over 2 to 3 days.

Future maintenance of asphalt surfaces

You should always try to keep the area clean and remove leaves and anything that is casting shadows on the area, especially during the winter months. Occasional brushing of the surface helps and doesn’t require too much effort. In addition, you can treat it every 10 – 14 months; Simply brush the surface and apply a new coat of BATICLEAN CR on a dry day or simply wait until the first signs of new growth appear before applying a new coat.

Our moss kill treatment kills everything on the surface including missed spores which will regrow within days if left untreated. The effective duration of treatment can be months or even years, but does not prevent the growth of new spores, which after some time reach the surface; This depends on many factors such as B. the climate, the location and the amount of shade or the circumstances that favor moss growth.

Cleaning and disinfecting drains:

Pour undiluted down the outdoor drain and rinse thoroughly. Use as often as necessary, especially during hot periods.

Concrete paths and terraces:

Dilute 150ml Jeyes Fluid for every 5 liters of water and apply enough solution to thoroughly wet the affected surfaces. Leave Jeyes Fluid on for 30 minutes, then rinse with water and scrub with the brush. For light-colored aggregates, dilute 50ml of product in 5 liters of water to avoid staining.

Asphalted surfaces:

Dilute 125ml of Jeyes Fluid in 5 liters of water in a watering can, then apply enough solution to thoroughly wet affected surfaces. First, check a small area for softening. If the asphalted area softens, use a lower dilution of 60ml of product in 5 liters of water and repeat the treatment 1 month later.

Sticks, secateurs, knives and various other outdoor tools:

Wipe the tool with a solution of 10ml Jeyes Fluid per liter of water. Then leave it on for 5 minutes before rinsing it off.

Clean rain barrels:

To clean rain barrels, scrub with a solution of 15ml of product to 5 liters of water. To refresh the water, add 5ml of Jeyes Fluid to a full rain barrel.

Disinfecting and cleaning greenhouses:

First remove all plants and then rinse all glass panes, muntins and shelves with 35ml Jeyes Fluid per 5 liters of water. Be sure to air the greenhouse and let it dry before planting your plants again.

Avian flu/bird flu:

Use a solution of 250ml Jeyes Fluid mixed with 5 liters of water to disinfect surfaces against avian influenza. Remove excess dirt and apply the product with a watering can, allowing at least 20 minutes to work. Finally rinse after use.

The use of a herbicide

Dealing with existing grass is pretty easy. You can purchase a strong herbicide at your local home and garden center. The most effective contain between two and three percent of a chemical known as glyphosate.

This is an extremely powerful weed killer and should make short work of existing weed. However, larger paved driveways may require multiple applications.

The installation of driveway edges

You can also add plastic or metal edging to the edge of your driveway. First, create a ditch just off the edges. This trench should be about three to four inches deep. You can then lay the plastic or metal edging flush with the driveway. Finally, backfill the trench and tamp down the dirt to ensure proper drainage.
