How To Clear Your Kindle Unlimited History? Trust The Answer

You may have been using your device for ages without realizing you’ve made a reading list. Now that you want to clean up and organize your list, how do you clear the entire reading list?

Getting rid of your reading list works a little differently from device to device. Click on the links below to view specific instructions for each case:

Hold Ctrl and click on your list

From the drop-down menu, click Delete All Items.

When asked “Are you sure you want to delete your reading list,” select “Delete” (if you’re really sure).

Inside, tap an icon that looks like glasses

You can also only see unread links in your reading list

From there you can delete items individually:

Confirm with “Delete”

Note that you won’t be asked for confirmation, so don’t delete anything you didn’t mean to.

How to Clear Entire Reading List on iPhone and iPad

Your Safari reading list syncs between your devices, so you see the same items in Safari on your Mac and your iPhone. Likewise, if you delete it, it will be deleted everywhere. So clearing your list on Mac will also work on your iPhone and iPad.

You can also erase all records and clear your browsing history (which accumulates pretty quickly) on iPhone by following these steps:

Launch Settings from your iPhone home screen

Look for “Safari” in the list of settings.

Scroll to the bottom of the screen and tap Clear History and Website Data.

This will erase data from your phone, including your Google search history and logins. This also deletes cookies

On Facebook, you can easily “save” any post you come across while bowing your friend’s feed by clicking the … icon in the top right corner of the update panel:

You can’t delete your entire reading list on Facebook, but you can remove saved items individually by unsaving:

Go to Facebook.com/saved while logged into Facebook. On the iPhone/Android app: From the main menu, tap the icon in the bottom right corner. Then tap “Saved”.

How to Clear Reading List on Kindle

To delete books from your Kindle device, you must delete them from your Amazon account.

Note that if you delete an item from your Amazon Kindle collection, it is lost forever. If you change your mind, you must buy it again.

Go to Manage your content and devices (sign in with your Amazon credentials if required)

Click the Content tab.

Mark the books you want to remove and select “Delete” and then confirm

Check the box next to the book you want to permanently delete and click Delete at the top. There is no “Select All” option, but you probably don’t need one

Your borrowed books disappear from your Kindle book once they expire, so you don’t have to remove them.

We love it when things are simple and uncomplicated. Whether you’re in doubt about your e-book purchases or want to cancel an accidental purchase, the best way to organize information about your recent Kindle shopping spree is to pull your purchase history directly from Amazon.

To view your Kindle purchase history, use your Kindle account information and sign in to the account on Amazon.com. Hover over your account name and click “Orders” from the options that appear. Next, click the Digital Order tab to filter out the non-Kindle purchases.

This article covers Kindle Purchase History and the different ways you can access, download, and hide it. Whether you’re buying a new book or returning an old one, your purchase history is your friend.

But to see books in your purchase history, you need to make a purchase, so let’s start with how to buy a Kindle book.

How do I buy a Kindle book on Amazon?

To buy a Kindle book from Amazon, you can go to Amazon.com and sign in using the same credentials associated with your Kindle, search for the book, click All Formats and Editions, and select eBook. Select before clicking “Buy Now.” The book will appear in your account content.

The process of buying a book is actually quite simple. All you have to do is search for a book you want to buy from the Amazon store.

Then simply click on the “Buy Now” button on the book purchase page. If 1-click payment is enabled for your account, you may see a Buy Now with 1-Click button.

Click this button and the book will be added to your Kindle purchase history.

You don’t need to transfer the file to your Kindle. It is automatically sent to your device by default. By simply visiting your device’s library, you can see the book on the cloud shelf as long as the device is connected to the internet. Just make sure your Kindle device is registered to your account.

More importantly, you can download the book to your Kindle for offline reading.

You can also gift a Kindle book by clicking the Buy for Others button below. The process is similar to buying a book for yourself.

How to view your Kindle book purchase history

Viewing purchase history is crucial when others are accessing your Kindle device. A family Kindle can be the cause of dozens of accidental purchases. It is advisable to check your purchase history at least once a month.

To view your Kindle purchase history, you should log into your Kindle account on Amazon and click “Returns and Orders” in the navigation banner at the top. Then you should search for “Kindle” in the corresponding bar to see all the Kindle e-books you have purchased.

As I mentioned, you can also click on the “Digital Orders” tab on the order page (instead of searching for “Kindle”) and you’ll see the full list of all recent Kindle purchases.

If you can’t see any purchases you’ve made, you might consider changing the purchase history period from the drop-down menu.

How can I view the list of books you own on your computer?

The purchase history usually only shows you the most recent orders you have placed to purchase a book. The results shown are valid for a limited period of time. You won’t see a complete list of all the books you own.

To view a list of all the books you own, you must access your account’s “Content Library”. There are several ways you can access your Kindle account and see what books you own.

Viewing your Kindle eBook content library on computer is fairly easy as long as you are logged into the same Amazon account that your Kindle is registered to. If so, follow these steps.

Visit Amazon.com using a web browser on your computer. If you are not signed in, enter the user email address and password that your Kindle is registered with to gain access to the linked account. Click “Account” in the top right corner of the web browser and navigate to the Manage Content and Devices section. Click on “Books” to filter out the rest of the content and choose “All” to see all the books you’ve ever bought.

This method also displays books that you received as gifts. The alternative is to go to your Orders section to get your entire purchase history. Here’s how you can highlight Kindle books from your consolidated purchase history.

Sign in to your Amazon account in a web browser. On the Amazon home page, click “Orders and Returns” in the upper-right corner. Either search for eBook in the All Orders section or click the Digital Orders tab to access all eBooks you’ve purchased on Kindle.

How to view your purchase history on Kindle/App

Viewing purchase history on Kindle is handy because it allows you to retrieve books that you may have purchased but never opened. This is a great way to find out what books you’ve purchased through the Kindle Store.

Open your Kindle library. Bottom right toggles between device and cloud. If it is the device option, switch it to the cloud. Change the sort order to sort by date. This is the order in which you purchased the book and doubles as your order history.

The downside to this method is that the Kindle will also show offline documents synced to the cloud as well as non-Kindle books in your library for download/transfer.

You might think you’ve bought a book when it may have been transferred or downloaded outside of the Amazon ecosystem. To make sure you’re looking at order history and not just file history, you can use the following method.

Visit Amazon.com in your Kindle’s web browser. Tap Orders & Lists to open Purchase History. Go to the Digital Orders tab to view the list of books you have purchased. To filter out the pay-per-view and software purchases, type “kindle” in the search bar above. Now you will see a list of e-books you have purchased from Amazon.

How do I cancel an order from your purchase history?

Since the Kindle library already sorts and displays purchased books perfectly, the number one reason people even bother with purchase history is to cancel orders. Reordering previously purchased items is a close second, but is not common for digital products like Kindle books.

Follow these steps to cancel your order from the purchase history.

Sign in to your Amazon account and click “Orders and Lists”. Tap the Digital Orders tab to view digital purchases. Click Return for a Refund next to the Kindle book you want to return.

If you have not read past the free preview of the book on Amazon and it has been less than 7 days since purchase, the book can be returned. However, if a significant period of time has passed, the button cannot be clicked.

How do I download a book from your purchase history to my Kindle?

As mentioned earlier, Kindle purchase history can serve as a reminder of the books you’ve purchased. With single sign-on (SSO), you can buy books on your computer and download them to your Kindle. Here’s how you do it.

Step 1 – Click on “Manage Content and Devices” in the order history.

Open your purchase history by logging into your Amazon account and clicking “Orders and Lists”. On the order page, click on “Digital Orders” to open the corresponding tab. Next to the book, click the Manage Content and Devices option.

Step 2 – Select the Deliver Book to Device option.

On the next page, just click the Deliver or Remove from Device button. This option allows you to quickly and easily remove or add a book from any Kindle device linked to your account.

Step 3 – Select the device

In the last step of the process, a pop-up window will appear if you choose to deliver a book to the device. In this pop-up window, simply select the device you want to send the book to and click “Make Changes”.

That’s it! Your book will be delivered to your respective Kindle device/app.

However, this is quite a cumbersome way to download books to Kindle when the cloud library allows you to download books by clicking the drop-down menu next to the title. Purchase history is much more useful for keeping track of orders.

Can you download a list of all books purchased for Kindle?

Downloading a list of all the titles you have purchased can be useful as it can help you sort your reading schedule and organize your wish list. The last thing you want is for someone to buy you a digital gift you already have.

You can download a list of all books that have been purchased for Kindle using the Amazon Order History Report feature. This option allows you to get an offline copy of your Amazon orders filtered by type. To do this, you need access to the Amazon account your Kindle is registered to.

Here are the steps to get your Kindle purchase history offline.

Visit Amazon.com in your web browser and sign in to the same account used to make your Kindle purchases. This is usually the account you used to register your Kindle during setup. Click on your account name above.

On the Account page, scroll down to the Order and Purchase Settings section and click Download Order Reports. Alternatively, just click on this link – Download Amazon Order Reports.

Enter the start date and end date of the period. For all purchase history, go back as far as possible for the Start Date, even a year before you received your Kindle, and then enter the latest possible date for the End Date.

Choose “Orders and shipments” as the type

Request the report by clicking on the appropriate button.

Processing the request will take some time. Once the report is generated, a pop-up window will appear on your screen asking you to download the report. The document has the file extension .csv.

You will also receive an email reminder. Retrieve the report by logging into your Amazon account and manually entering the following URL into your web browser again within the same session: https://www.amazon.com/gp/b2b/reports

Can you delete a book from your purchase history?

While we flaunt books that make us seem smart, some books are best left as guilty pleasures. If others can access your Kindle, they may be able to see your purchase history. It’s reasonable to ask if you can cover it up.

You cannot delete a book from your purchase history, but you can hide it using the archive option. You cannot see it in the purchase history unless you open the order history. Since most people don’t know anything about archiving, their chances of seeing archived orders are slim.

You’ve probably tried Kindle Unlimited before. If it’s been six or four years, you might be surprised at how many things have changed — mostly in the way Amazon handles returning members. The company has accepted the fact that users come and go and made it easy for former subscribers to come back.

That’s the nature of Kindle Unlimited: you can subscribe for a month or two, read the best books currently available, unsubscribe, and come back for the next reading season.

In the handy list below, you’ll find the pros and cons of Kindle Unlimited to help you decide if this service – in its current form and compared to other services – is something to consider.

Kindle Unlimited isn’t just for bookworms anymore, just like Netflix isn’t just for people who want to watch movies every night. However, the main question is still the same: “How many books can I read per month?” is not that question. The right question to ask yourself is, “How many Kindle Unlimited books would I be willing to read?”

Aside from the title selection, there are a few other limitations and benefits of Kindle Unlimited, so let’s take a closer look at those.

Digital Kindle Unlimited Subscription – What you need to know

1. Kindle Unlimited offers over 1.5 million titles

The last time Amazon reported the exact number of items in each product category (it was late 2018), its Kindle Unlimited book catalog was well over 1.4 million titles.

Now if you enter the catalog and scroll down to see the full list, don’t be disappointed if you see “over 70,000 results”. Amazon now shows results in large categories.

As I said, in 2018 there were 1.4 million eligible books. The number is still growing, maybe not as fast as a few years ago, but we can expect thousands of new releases to be added to Kindle Unlimited every month.

The Kindle Unlimited catalog includes: Approximately 1.5 million Kindle e-books across all categories.

Well over 60,000 eBooks with Audible narration — seamlessly switch between reading and listening on your Kindle or in a Kindle app.

About 1 million books have Word Wise enabled – short definitions can appear inline above difficult words.

Between 1,000 and 3,000 are also available in Prime Reading, a part of Amazon Prime membership with multiple benefits.

I assume the size of the Kindle store is between 4 and 5 million releases. So, with the Kindle Unlimited subscription, you get access to a third of the Amazon e-book platform for free.

1.5 million sounds like a huge number, but you really should consider how many of these books you want to read.

One of the biggest improvements in Kindle Unlimited is that no matter how narrow your field of interest, you will most likely find a few books that you would like to read. Let’s look at some examples:

2. It is the only real replacement for KOLL

Remember the lending library for Kindle owners? It was part of the Amazon Prime subscription, which gives access to a catalog of e-books comparable to Kindle Unlimited.

Yes, it was. I found out that Amazon has effectively shut down KOLL by not giving customers access to their catalog of eligible books – and therefore no chance of borrowing them.

What other options do you have? The only part of Amazon Prime that offers access to ebooks is Prime Reading, but we’re talking up to 3,000 titles, not hundreds of thousands.

If you don’t want to read what other people read, you won’t fall in love with Prime Reading.

3. You still won’t find books from major publishers

Initially, the main disadvantage of Kindle Unlimited was the lack of publications from major publishers: Hachette, MacMillan, Simon & Schuster, HarperCollins and Penguin.

The bad news is that it hasn’t changed one bit for the better.

If you’re looking to save money on the hottest sellers by getting Kindle Unlimited, make sure you’re checking out the titles you want to read. Don’t expect to find books by Janet Evanovich, Stephen King, Dan Brown, or Nora Roberts.

4. Kindle Unlimited books make up 80% of the top 100 best sellers

Kindle Unlimited has changed the way readers find new books to read. Big-name authors are still proof of a great read, but sometimes all you need is a page turner in a certain category.

In 2014, only 7 Kindle Unlimited books made the top 100 Kindle Best Sellers list. Two years later, that number grew to 28, and as of 2017, it’s been no fewer than 80.

5. Most Kindle Unlimited books are $4.99 or less

The most common reason to sign up for an e-book subscription is to save money.

A very clear clue is the ability to read a $12.99 e-book for $9.99. Instead of purchasing this book, get it through Kindle Unlimited. The service pays for itself from just one book a month.

Well, that only happens in theory. Most bestsellers published by major publishers that cost over $10 are excluded from Kindle Unlimited.

Instead, you can expect plenty of titles ranging from $0.99 to $4.99. To make Kindle Unlimited a money-saving machine, you must read:

At least one $9.99 book per month.

At least two $4.99 books per month.

Three or more books worth $2.99 ​​per month.

Ten or more books worth $0.99 per month.

6. Kindle Unlimited is not Prime Unlimited

Many users confuse Kindle Unlimited with Prime. This is because both services are offered by Amazon and both are subscription based.

In addition, some Prime member benefits also include unlimited access to digital content, naming only Prime Instant Video or Prime Music.

Most importantly, Amazon Prime also offers benefits for book lovers:

7. Kindle Unlimited does not offer standalone audiobooks

With the Kindle Unlimited subscription, you can not only read Kindle eBooks for free, but also popular magazines or comics and graphic novels.

Does Kindle Unlimited offer free access to Audible audiobooks? no You will not find standalone audiobooks in the eligible Tiles catalog. You can’t use the service to download audiobooks to an Audible app on your Fire or iPad.

Instead, Kindle offers Unlimited Audible Narration. It’s an audiobook companion that can be downloaded to your Kindle or Kindle app (and not the Audible app).

Once the file is downloaded, you can seamlessly switch to the audio commentary and back. In short: you can turn the book you read into an audio book.

There are currently over 60,000 Kindle Unlimited books with Audible Narration.

How do I find a Kindle Unlimited book with an audiobook narration? Look for the headphones icon next to the Kindle Unlimited logo.

8. How to find Kindle Unlimited books

Amazon is so packed with features, categories, and dedicated subpages that it becomes really difficult to find books in specific categories.

However, it’s good to spend some time testing Kindle Unlimited eligibility against the books on your Wishlist. Assuming the book will be available through Kindle Unlimited can be a huge disappointment, especially if you want a bestseller.

There are two easy ways to find Kindle Unlimited eligible books on Amazon:

1. Explore the Kindle Unlimited home page

If you go straight to the Kindle Unlimited home page, you’ll see a few select sections, followed by the entire catalog of KU-eligible books.

Currently, the featured sections are:

popular romance

Popular mystery, thriller and suspense

Popular books with narration

If you scroll down, you’ll see the entire catalog sorted by featured title. “Recommended” means that a book was handpicked by editors based on sales rank, number of positive reviews, and quality of the book.

You can change the sort order by price, average customer rating, or published date. Relying on customer reviews is a great way to find good reading, especially if you’ve never heard of the books and their authors.

You can narrow the list of books by selecting one of the categories in the left sidebar.

2. Browse the Kindle Store with the Kindle Unlimited filter enabled

Even if you don’t go directly to the Kindle Unlimited home page, you can narrow the search results to books that are included in the subscription service.

As you browse the Kindle Store, look for the Kindle Unlimited Eligible checkbox on the left. It usually comes as the first filter option on the left sidebar.

If you use a search box to find the book you like, e.g. B. Harper Lee’s “Go Set a Watchman” and checking the “KU Eligibility” checkbox will make the book disappear from the search results. It means it’s not available through Kindle Unlimited.

9. Kindle Unlimited is available in select countries

Kindle Unlimited launched on Amazon’s main online store as a service aimed exclusively at US customers.

It’s also now available in localized Kindle stores in select countries. Here are the Amazon stores and monthly fees.

10. You can keep up to 10 Kindle Unlimited books at a time

Don’t think about filling your Kindle with hundreds of Kindle Unlimited books or creating large collections from them.

You can only keep up to 10 Kindle Unlimited books on your account at one time. If you have two devices, you cannot download 10 books to each device. You can have a total of 10 books across all your devices.

Other e-book subscription platforms also have such limits. For example, Scribd has a limit of 20 books.

While this limitation goes against the “unlimited” sales offer of the service, I understand it. If you pack your Kindle with 500 books, you won’t be able to read them all at once anyway.

11. All books are gone when you unsubscribe

Some users are trying to trick Amazon into thinking they can load the maximum number of Kindle Unlimited books on their e-reader, then cancel the subscription but keep the books.

It’s not going to happen. When you cancel your Kindle Unlimited subscription, the books are automatically removed from your Kindle library once your device connects to the internet and syncs content with Amazon servers.

Do not try to deregister your Kindle to keep Kindle Unlimited books before canceling the subscription. Deregistering the Kindle removes all books from your device. Yes all.

12. Bookmarks, notes and highlights are preserved

A Kindle Unlimited book works just like any other Kindle book.

You can add bookmarks, notes and highlight passages. Progress, bookmarks, notes, and highlights sync across all your Kindle devices and apps through your Kindle Library in the cloud.

Since you can cancel Kindle Unlimited subscription at any time, the big question is: will everything be lost? no Amazon promises to keep your bookmarks, notes, and highlights:

After the billing date has passed, you will lose access to Kindle Unlimited books that you have downloaded. However, your bookmarks, notes, and highlights in the book are stored in your Amazon account. They will be available when you access the book in the future.

If you reactivate your Kindle Unlimited subscription and download the book to your Kindle, you should be able to find all your bookmarks, notes, and highlights.

Even after you cancel Kindle Unlimited, your bookmarks and notes will remain in your Kindle account, which is available online at read.amazon.com/notebook after you sign in.

13. Kindle Unlimited works on Kindle devices and apps

You don’t need to own an Amazon device (Kindle e-reader or Fire tablet) to use the Kindle Unlimited e-book subscription.

Among the many services and subscriptions that Amazon offers, Kindle Unlimited is one that should pique the interest of avid readers. But with all the different ways we can get and consume our books these days, it can be difficult to keep track and weigh the pros and cons of the services on offer. Today I’m here to help you answer the question: how does Kindle Unlimited work (and is it right for you)?

The Basics: How Does Kindle Unlimited Work?

When you subscribe to Kindle Unlimited, you get free access to over a million Kindle titles, including ebooks, audiobooks, and magazines.

Kindle Unlimited titles can be read on any Amazon device or Kindle app.

You can borrow titles as often as you like without a due date and keep up to ten titles available at the same time.

If that all sounds good to you so far (and why shouldn’t it?!), let’s get into some of the grittier details.

What do you need to use Kindle Unlimited?

All you need is an Amazon account with a valid credit card and 1-Click Payment enabled. And since Kindle Unlimited is accessible through the Kindle app (available for iOS, Android, Mac, or PC), you don’t even need a Kindle device!

To enable 1-Click:

Go to Your Content and Devices under Your Account.

Click the Settings tab.

Set up your 1-Click payment method under the first heading “Digital Payment Settings”.

Is Kindle Unlimited free for Prime members?

How to browse Kindle Unlimited books

To browse available titles, navigate directly to the Kindle Unlimited catalog from the sidebar menu on the Amazon home page. You can find it by clicking Kindle E-Readers and Books in the Digital Content and Devices section or Books in the Shop by Department section.

You can also just browse the store as usual and you’ll see the Kindle Unlimited logo on eligible titles.

There is a separate box for Kindle Unlimited above the other purchase options on the product detail page of the eligible items. Click “Read for Free” (or “Read with Kindle Unlimited” if you’re not specifically looking at the Kindle edition) to borrow the title through Kindle Unlimited.

Returning Kindle Unlimited Books

Go to Your Kindle Unlimited under Your Account.

You’ll see a “Your Borrowed Items” list, which tracks how many of your ten allotted items you have at any given time. Click Return on the track you want to return.

How to Find Kindle Unlimited Audiobooks

Some Kindle Unlimited books come with a free audiobook companion. This is indicated by a headphone icon next to the Kindle Unlimited logo on the product detail page.

If a free audiobook is available for your selected Kindle Unlimited title, it will automatically be available for access on your compatible Amazon device, the Kindle app, or the Audible app.

How does Kindle Unlimited work in the app?

You can also easily browse and manage your Kindle Unlimited items in the Kindle app. (Note: iOS app is used here, but Android and PC apps should be similar.)

From the Discover tab, select Kindle Unlimited.

From here you can browse and borrow Kindle Unlimited items or select Manage Your Titles.

To check out an item, select the title that interests you, then choose Add to Library.

If you went to “Manage your titles” you can see the list of media you have borrowed and have the option to return them.

How do you cancel Kindle Unlimited?

So you didn’t love it? Do not worry! Not everything works for everyone. You can easily cancel your Kindle Unlimited subscription at any time. Your services will remain with you until the next billing date. However, if you cancel a prepaid subscription, the cancellation will take effect immediately and no partial refunds will be given for unused months (nor can you restart it at a later date).

Abort:

On the Your Kindle Unlimited page, there is a Manage Membership button with the option to Cancel Kindle Unlimited Membership.

The following page tells you how long your benefits will remain active and you can choose to either “Keep my membership” or “Cancel membership”.

If you cancel your membership, you should receive an email confirming the cancellation.

If you want to use Kindle Unlimited again in the future, go back to the Your Kindle Unlimited page. In the “Manage Membership” field there is an option to “Continue Kindle Unlimited Membership”.

What other questions do you have about how Kindle Unlimited works for readers?

Kindles and other e-readers fill up quickly, especially if you’re an avid reader. To free up space for new books on your Kindle, you can archive older books for a later date by removing them from your device. As long as you originally purchased the content through Amazon, removing the books will not delete them from your library, it will remove them from the device so you can later access them through the Amazon Cloud. Archiving items is fairly easy, and finding them again can be just as easy as long as you know where to look.

If you don’t want the items you’ve purchased to appear on any of your devices, you can hide them. To see your hidden items, unhide them.

If you have a Kindle Unlimited membership and read a lot of e-books, it can be difficult to keep track of which books you’ve already read.

The same goes for Prime Reading, the library of free e-books available to Amazon Prime members.

Since you’re technically borrowing the e-books instead of buying them, it can be difficult to keep track of what you’ve read since the books aren’t permanently added to your account like they are when you buy them.

Once you return a book, it will no longer appear on your device or in the app.

But there are a few ways to find a list of all the books you’ve downloaded from Kindle Unlimited and Prime Reading, and it even shows the books you’ve returned.

When you log into your Amazon account and go to the Manage My Content and Devices page, you can select whether you want to view Kindle Unlimited and Prime Reading books from the drop-down list.

Then you can narrow the results to show only returned books. It also lists audiobooks that you have borrowed, not just e-books. It’s a handy way to keep track of the books you’ve already read.

Another way to find a list of your returned eBooks is to visit the My Loaned Items page on Amazon. It lists your current and returned Kindle Unlimited and Prime Reading ebooks, but it doesn’t show audiobooks like the other method.
