Can you hide yourself from someone on hinge?
Select a reason for removing that person.
Your reason is private and will not be shared with the other person. Once you select a reason, you’ll see a small “X” animation that shows the remove has been submitted. That person will also not see you and you won’t see their profile again.
Does hinge hide your profile when you delete the app?
Like most dating apps, deleting, uninstalling or removing the Hinge app won’t automatically delete your profile – you could still be visible to other users.
Can my matches see me if I pause my hinge account?
Can Matches See If You Pause Account? Hinge hides your profile from being shown to new people (there might be a momentary delay to process requests). Matches will not be hidden when you pause your profile.
Does Hinge show your profile to everyone?
No, Hinge shows your profile based on location, deal-breakers others select. Similarly, in big cities, not everyone is on the app that often or for that long so people may never see your profile. All the more reason to give your profile, photos serious thought rather than just dabble and see what happens.
Hinge Dating App Review, Is Hinge Any Good? Is It Free? FAQ’s
Unlike a resume, where your updated version is viewed in isolation and independently of new companies you submit it to, your dating profile is weighted by the success (or failure) of your early colleagues and displayed to others accordingly.
Pro tip: Be sure to check out the dating profile templates before downloading the app so you can set up a practice profile before going live.
New Users Boost Bumble, Hinge: Front Loaded Matches, fewer matches over time, Tinder encourages new users
If you’re ever wondering why you’re shown attractive and desirable profiles by users early on and then hit a wall with less desirable people and fewer likes, that’s it.
There is always a regression to the mean and it can take between 3 and 5 days for the algorithm to analyze and rank your profile in comparison to others in the area (depending on supply, demand and swipe activity).
Some people attribute it to a bug or the app, but in most cases it’s just your profile moving up or down the pecking order.
This regression is part of a larger monetization strategy – most dating apps come with free trials (no notifications, e.g. Hinge) or with hard upsells for boosts, hoping you’ll remember how that first week was .
Dating apps (more so than others) are photo-centric, meaning most of what a person sees are photos, or at least photos are prioritized, meaning bios, prompts, and demographics are ignored or deprioritized early on.
It’s an unfortunate approach, but it is what it is and that’s why it’s important to start your dating profile as strong as possible from the start and not get caught in a vicious circle.
Some users are savvy and aware of this phenomenon and might try to tamper with the system by creating duplicate account, deleting accounts and restarting, but often apps will detect what is going on and punish users even more if they try to cheat the system.
Needless to say, this can lead to a dark path where users don’t get likes, get put down by others, and end up never getting any data about the app – DON’T LET THIS HAPPEN TO YOU.
While it’s good to get feedback from others on your profile, it can actually hurt you. Friends tend to be less direct when it comes to something this personal.
If you ask attractive friends or more social friends for help, they might have an advantage you don’t (have more leeway to get away with mistakes, red flags, or sickly taboos).
Bumble algorithm, how does Bumble decide who to show you? Bumble ELO, Bumble Attractiveness Ranking, how does Bumble determine who you see first?
Similar to Hinge, Bumble encourages new profiles and shows them to many people early on to get an idea of desirability.
After this initial phase, the number of times your profile is viewed will decrease and return to normal (which is why you may see fewer likes after a few days or weeks).
How to improve Bumble profile? How to optimize Bumble algorithm ranking?
Get better photos, fill out your profile, bio, avoid generic clichés, don’t swipe right too much, don’t swipe right too fast, have confidence and don’t swipe exclusively outside of your league, age group and yours Radius.
Read how to optimize your Bumble profile here.
Why am I not getting matches on Bumble? Does Bumble penalize you if you swip too much? How do you beat the Bumble algorithm?
The more you swipe right on IG models, people who are far away or significantly taller than you or younger than you, the more likely they will see you and swipe left on you.
It’s best to have realistic expectations, tweak your profile, and be patient rather than swiping too much.
To get more likes, matches, good photos, smile, get to know your audience, fill out your profile and not use self-sabotaging photos.
Bumble Boost, Tinder Boost, Hinge Preferred – Paid premium features, when to boost
While Bumble Premium Memberships and Preferred Hinge Memberships can be tempting, I see these services as similar to annoying paid ads.
In the long run, working on yourself (appearance, health, career, hobbies, social life, wardrobe, grooming, and photos) is much better than paying for a dopamine rush from a few extra random likes.
Read more about paid features in dating apps and whether you should try them.
How do algorithms work on Hinge, Bumble & Tinder, Tinder ELO
Dating apps aren’t set up to see you as the most desirable, compatible user. You are constantly testing A/B algorithms, functions and you are the product. Don’t assume that boosts or paid services will help your profile – only improved photos, bios, captions, demographics and looks can do that.
Dating algorithms are designed to keep you on the app for as long as possible and monetize those efforts.
To get the most out of dating apps, you need to focus on improving yourself and your profile — there are no hacks. Dating apps show users they think you might be interested and have a chance, not necessarily the ones you’re most likely to like or swipe right at you.
You mix in profiles for attractive people, not-so-attractive people, people outside of your preferences and radius to teach and improve the algorithm.
Not everyone sees your profile on the Hinge, Bumble, or Tinder apps. For one, people have filters. Second, not everyone is on the app 24/7. Women use 1-2 apps on average (max), while some men use 2-4 or more apps.
Given app usage and the gender imbalance on dating apps (60/40 male to female or more), it is possible that men see most/all women, while women may see less than 30% of male profiles.
Too much, too fast swipe right on Bumble, Hinge & Tinder
If you’re in an app for a while, you might come across profiles that you’ve already seen or swiped over.
One reason is that you wipe too often and too much. Dating apps handle an insane amount of data and it’s costly to update servers in real-time for everyone after every swipe.
Sometimes it takes some time for dating apps to update their reporting servers to balance the cost and effort. So you’d better take your time to check profiles carefully so the apps can catch up and record your actions.
Even then, apps will likely penalize you and show you less to others if you swipe right too much and or never scroll to thoroughly examine profiles.
How Do Dating Apps Make Money (Hinge, Bumble, Tinder etc.)
Some apps sell advertising on their website, others sell your personal information to third parties, and still others make money from subscriptions and upgrades. Dating apps work like drug dealers – they hit you and get you hooked.
With dating apps they first boost your profile and then slow down how many people see your profile and how many profiles they show you. Many users think that by paying for subscriptions and upgrades they can reclaim that initial activity, but that’s often not the case.
Most profiles have exhausted more of their compatible and likely likes/matches early on and don’t have many options left.
Few profiles are great enough to continue the stream of likes/matches they saw when they first signed up (these are usually the most sought after alias most attractive people on the platform).
Dating apps sell users false hope by stating that with Y premium feature they can get X more matches.
Typically, these extra likes (if any) come from people further away, out of your league, random likes, or people looking for IG followers or attention, or people right-clicking on all.
Paying for subscriptions is like paying for paid ads on websites – they are likely to result in accidental clicks or bots clicking on ads to trick others into paying more.
Why am I not getting any likes on Hinge? How do I get more likes on Hinge? No likes on hinge 2022
New users are boosted upon registration and seen by many people within the first few hours and days. Once your profile is viewed enough times, Hinge will adjust your visibility (who you see, how often you see) based on your swipe worthiness to the right.
If you want to keep getting likes on Hinge, work on your profile. Enhance your worst photos, fill in your prompt answers and bio, add captions to your photos and send comments along with likes.

No likes on Bumble? How do I get more likes on Bumble?
Bumble is a rather shallow app in terms of photo quality on profiles, but also user interaction. Guys are not able to send first messages so sometimes they like each profile and then see who likes them back.
It’s hard to differentiate the effort with a swipe on Bumble. Because women are bombarded with likes on the app, they tend to be more selective and like fewer profiles (perhaps less than apps like Hinge, where effort can be measured by comments).
My recommendation to get more likes on Bumble – invest in your photos, prompts. Paying for boosts may get you more likes, but these are low-quality likes from people outside of area, age range, and interest.
Can anyone see my Hinge profile?
However, if you don’t want your Hinge profile to be shown to anyone as a suggested match, you can set your preferences to very unlikely combinations (i.e. 7 feet tall and 1 mile away) and specify them as “Dealbreakers”. For someone to see your profile, they have to meet your preferences and vice versa.
Hinge Dating App Review, Is Hinge Any Good? Is It Free? FAQ’s
In your Discover feed, scroll through the profiles one by one and either “like” a prompt or photo, or “skip” that profile by tapping the X.
If you like a piece of content, you can also insert a message. This feature makes starting a Hinge conversation a breeze. If this person also “likes” you, a match is formed and the message exchange begins.
Standouts is a limited selection of profiles that changes daily. In this feed, you can see a prompt or photo prompt from a user’s profile, chosen based on similar content you’ve previously liked. Tapping on the profile tidbit brings up the full profile.
In the Like section, free users also scroll through each profile individually.
One of the perks of Hinge Preferred is that you can see everyone you’ve already “liked” at once. Just “Like” them back by tapping the “Conversation” icon and a match will be formed.
When it comes to messaging, Hinge makes it easy to keep track of whose turn it is to send a message. For example, if someone sent you a conversation starter, you’ll see a blue “Your turn” tag in the list of active conversations.
Hinge profiles consist of 6 photos or videos and 3 prompts.
Each answer is limited to 150 characters and there are over 80 prompts to choose from – and the choices change frequently.
Does Hinge tell if you screenshot?
So, Does Hinge Notify When You Screenshot? We hear the concern in your voices, Hinge daters, but take a deep breath, and don’t worry. Hinge does not send users screenshot or screen-recording notifications (yet), and it hasn’t stated any plans to. Cheers to not being caught!
Hinge Dating App Review, Is Hinge Any Good? Is It Free? FAQ’s
We’ve all experienced that dreaded hole in our stomach after screenshotting an image, profile, or chat on Hinge, and thought maybe—just maybe—someone got notified of the screenshot. Whether you sent another user’s bizarre reply to a friend, took a screenshot of a message to send to a friend for advice, or maybe recorded someone’s voice prompt on screen (guilty), screenshots of anything is a little daunting to create. No one wants to be caught in the act, and when that screenshot jitter sets in, you call out the frantic “Does Hinge notify users when you take a screenshot?” Search Google.
So does Hinge notify you when you take a screenshot?
We hear the concern in your voices, hinge dates, but take a deep breath and don’t worry. Hinge does not (yet) send users screenshot or screen recording notifications, nor has announced any plans to do so. Cheers not to get caught! Obviously this is great for those of us who take screenshots to capture the sheer joy and fun of online dating. But remember, it’s a one-way street; Just as you take all of your screenshots, other users can scan all of your images, prompts, chats, and more within the app. And while you might find other users’ prompts hilarious to laugh about with friends (or even make a TikTok video about it), remember that other people can do the same with your information, so be careful what you do post in the app. Regardless, feel free to bask in the glory of the screenshot. May the group chat roasts live on!

These 11 popular dating sites and apps allow selective visibility of your dating profile so you can only show matches that intrigue you.
To make your profile private:
Just click a link above to jump to that dating site, or compare them all to see which best suits your selective visibility needs.
How to hide your profile on Tinder
Tinder lets you control who can see your profile, but there’s a catch.
It’s a feature bundled with Tinder Plus, so you’ll need to upgrade to use it.
The cost of Tinder Plus depends on where you live, but depending on the length of the subscription, it’s close to $7.99 per month.
Once you are a premium member you can hide your profile and only make it visible to people after swiping directly on their profiles.
If you swipe left, they never get a chance to swipe yours. You have private Tinder photos until you give someone access with a right swipe.
How to hide your profile on Bumble
Like Tinder, Bumble has an incognito mode that you can turn on to keep your profile hidden.
It will then only be shown to the potential matches that you swipe directly on. But like most platforms that allow you to use dating sites discreetly, this is not a free feature.
You need to upgrade your Bumble subscription to Premium to use it.
Incognito mode can be toggled on and off from the settings screen:
Bumble also has a “snooze mode” that only makes your profile visible to your current contacts.
You can find snooze mode on the settings screen and can enable or disable it by tapping on it.
You can choose how long you want your profile to be hidden on Bumble, or hide it indefinitely:
If you choose a limited time limit, you also have the option to set an “Away” status that will be visible to your matches:
Using Snooze Mode does not require a premium subscription to Bumble Boost or Bumble Premium, so you can use the feature for free.
But there’s a small catch: you can’t swipe or match while your profile is hidden.
That means whenever you want to swipe right and match up with new people, you need to disable snooze mode. Bumble will also automatically notify your existing matches that you’re active in the app again.
If your goal is to match up with people in “stealth mode” and have complete control over who sees your profile and when, you need to invest in Bumble Premium and go incognito.
How to hide your profile in the inner circle
Inner Circle has an invisible mode that keeps your profile hidden until you swipe right on someone.
But it’s not a free feature – you need a full membership to use it. Upgrade costs start at $39.99 for 1 month or less if you purchase a longer subscription.
To hide your profile on Inner Circle, tap the profile icon and then tap the gear icon to bring up the Settings menu.
Scroll down to “Invisible mode” and turn it on. You can also choose whether or not to show your location on the Inner Circle map to connect with nearby users.
Check out this Inner Circle review for all the details on this exclusive dating app.
How to hide your profile on Luxy
If you want only singles who have “liked” you to see your profile, you need to purchase a paid subscription to Luxy.
The good news is that you can also skip the vouching process.
One of the advantages of Luxy BLACK is its instant acceptance. You can also selectively reveal your profile.
A Luxy BLACK membership will set you back $99.99 when you buy a month:
To learn more about how Luxy works, read this dating app review.
How to hide your profile in the league
The league also allows for selective visibility, keeping your profile private until you “like” a game.
However, this is not a benefit available to all League users.
You have to buy in to the “Investor” level, which doesn’t come cheap. This level of discretion will cost you $999.99 for 1 month or $399.99 for a week.
You can make your profile visible by initiating a “Power Move” with a specific match.
In The League, a “Power Move” grants your profile the highest billing in a potential game’s daily profile allocation. League owners get unlimited Power Moves.

How to hide your profile on Match.com
Match Privacy is a feature that allows you to control access to your profile.
You must have a paid subscription to purchase it as it is not an a la carte option for free members.
To add privacy mode, just click the white “Turn On” button at the top right of the screen:
Then select the Private mode option from the menu of available additional functions:
You can toggle private mode on and off from the Profile Settings screen:
While it’s on, any matches you’ve previously contacted will still be able to see your profile, so enabling this feature won’t affect ongoing messaging.
But your profile is now invisible to everyone else.
If you see someone you are interested in, your profile will immediately become visible to that person when you communicate with them.
Here are all the actions that will make your profile visible to a match while in private mode:
They’ll know you’re visible to a match because you’ll see a purple badge on their profile and the words “She Can See You” appear under their photo.
When you stop using privacy mode, your profile will appear in the Who Viewed Me section of anyone whose profile you checked out while privacy mode was on.
Match’s undercover feature
If you absolutely don’t want to record that you’ve ever been there, even with privacy mode turned off, you need to use it along with the Undercover feature.
Undercover isn’t something you can turn on and off.
Instead, you buy individual sessions. Each session lasts 24 hours. During this time, you can view and “favorite” profiles without notifying the person.
The cost of an undercover session varies depending on what promotions are available at the time, but is generally around $1.99 per use:
You buy Undercover the same way as Private Mode – click the “Turn On” button and select it from the function menu.
If you decide that you want a match to know that you’ve viewed or “favorite” their profile while undercover, you’ll need to repeat it at the end of your session.
A black bar at the top of each page helps you keep track of time while in undercover mode.

How to hide your profile on MillionaireMatch
On MillioniareMatch, selectively limiting your profile visibility is a feature available to premium members.
You can hide your profile from all members for free, but there’s not much point in doing that if you actually want to use the site!
A Gold Premium Membership costs $70 for 1 month, $135 for 3 months or $240 for 6 months. To learn all about the benefits involved, read this MillionaireMatch review.
To control who can see your profile, hover your mouse over the gear icon at the top right of the screen, then select “Settings” from the pull-down menu:
These are the privacy options for your profile:
About your photos:
And for your activities on the website:
Simply check or uncheck the boxes if you wish to change your privacy settings.
Note that if you let your Premium subscription expire, all of your privacy settings will be reset to the default (i.e. not hidden).
The only exception is hiding your profile from all members, as you can do it for free.
How to hide your profile on OkCupid
OkCupid’s incognito mode makes your profile visible only to people you “like” or message.
You can browse with wild abandon, and none will be the wiser.
Your private profile will also not show up in the Match Search or DoubleTake sections of people you didn’t like or message.
And if someone you haven’t expressed an interest in tries to visit your profile page, they’ll get a message that your profile doesn’t exist.
Incognito mode costs vary depending on how much access you purchase at one time.
It starts at $9.99 for one month:
To purchase Incognito mode, simply type “/incognito” in the browser bar when logged into your OkCupid profile (www.okcupid.com/incognito).
You can toggle it on and off by clicking your photo in the top right of the screen, then “Settings”:
From there, select “Privacy” from the menu on the left side of the screen:
Then it’s just a matter of turning it on and off.
How to hide your profile on many fish
Editor’s Note: As of late 2020, Plenty Of Fish no longer allows users to hide their profiles. However, according to their FAQ, if yours was already hidden, it stays that way. You cannot hide your profile again if you make it visible again.
Making your POF account private is easy – and you can do it for free.
If you want private images on POF, use the dropdown menu next to the image to change its status from Public Image to Private Image.
To hide your profile, click Edit Profile in the menu bar at the top of the page. Just click on this link there:
If your profile is hidden, you can undo it by following the same steps. You will see the link change to “Click here to make your profile visible to others”:
While it’s hidden, your profile won’t appear in search results, and your photo won’t appear in image bars either.
But even when hidden, your profile is still selectively visible. Here is the list of people who can still see it:
As you can see, anyone who has added your profile to favorites can still see you even if yours is hidden.
If you don’t want a specific person to have access to your profile, click Favorites in the menu bar at the top of the page:
Then click Who Liked Me. You can restrict their access by removing them from this section:
While POF no longer has a username lookup feature, there are still a few hacks out there that allow you to do just that.
If you’re concerned about being discovered this way, you can change your username. However, you need a paid subscription to change it.
A premium subscription for POF costs $38.70 for 3 months, $51 for 6 months and $81.40 for 1 year.
To see what features come with an upgraded membership, check out this POF review.
How to hide your profile from search
Seeking, formerly called “SeekingArrangement”, is a popular sugar daddy dating site.
Men who invest in an upgraded membership can control their profile visibility from the settings screen.
In the Settings menu, look for the Search & Dashboard and Your Activity options and select Hidden.
Now your profile will no longer appear in other members’ search results or dashboards. However, if you message or “favorite” someone, they can view your profile.
A premium membership also allows you to message other users without having a primary “public” photo.
Seeking’s upgrade costs $19.99 for one month. Read more about this sugar site here.
How to hide your profile on Zoosk
If you are an upgraded member, you can use the Hide & Seek feature to control how visible your profile is.
There’s a catch, though: it’s considered a “subscription upgrade,” so you’ll have to pay an additional monthly fee for it.
The price depends on the length of your subscription.
For example, a 6-month subscription costs around $12.50 each month, and adding the Zoosk Hide & Seek feature costs an additional $8.99 each month.
Expect a little less for the upgrade if you’ve purchased a one-year premium membership, or a little more if you’ve been shorter than 6 months.
To purchase the Hide & Select upgrade, simply select Upgrade from the Settings menu and then enter your payment information.
After that, you can access the feature from the settings menu by tapping the white triangle next to your age and location in the top right menu bar:
If you are not a premium member, the best thing you can do is use the “Become Invisible” feature:
Zoosk allows you to browse invisibly for 30 minutes at a time, meaning no one will know you’ve checked out their profile.
Each session in invisible mode costs 30 coins, which you can buy in batches of 180 for around $19.95. If you buy more at once, there is a discount.
This feature is no longer available after the upgrade, but you won’t need it anymore as you can enable Hide & Seek modes instead.

Jump straight to what you want to read about first, or start at the top!
Hinge vs Bumble: Popularity & Demographics
Both Hinge and Bumble were among the fastest growing dating apps in the US in 2020. Hinge took first place, Tinder 2nd, and Bumble 4th.
Hinge may be growing the fastest, but it still has some catching up to do — Bumble is the second most popular dating app in the US, right behind Tinder.
If you base your decision on which dating app to use solely on the number of potential matches, Bumble is better than Hinge.
Bumble wins the general popularity contest, but you should also consider how popular a dating app is with people in the age group you want to date.
Hinge’s fastest-growing demographic is singles in their mid-20s, particularly those aged 22-26. The broader target market is Millennials, with almost 50% of users under 30 and the rest under 49.
Bumble has more users under 30 and also more users over 50.
If you’re over 50, try Bumble first. Hinge is slightly more popular with users over 30. So if you are, Hinge can give you an edge.
Category Winner:
Bumble is better than Hinge when it comes to your potential match pool – it has a lot more users overall.
But remember…
Both Bumble and Hinge are geared towards dating, not dating. You will find that most of your potential matches are looking for a relationship. Hinge in particular – their entire marketing campaign revolves around “designed to be delete”.
Bumble lets you filter for singles looking for “something casual,” but as app founder Whitney Wolfe Herd explained, “We’re not one of our competitors just trying to bring people together.”
If that’s what you’re looking for, stick with Tinder.
Hinge vs Bumble: Matching & Messaging
Hinge & Bumble take completely different approaches to connecting you to compatible games.
Fits on hinge
Hinge abandoned the swipe format altogether a few years ago, which has greatly increased user engagement. When it was a swipe app like Tinder, 1 in 10 matches actually talked to each other. That rose to 50% of games engaged with others in the app after the redesign.
Instead of swiping, Hinge presents potential matches in 3 separate feeds.
One of them will reveal who has already liked your profile — a feature most other dating apps charge a premium for. To see them all at once, however, you’ll need to upgrade. If you are a free user, you will have to go through them one by one.
As Hinge executive Amarnath Thombre explained to MarketWatch, “The main appeal of Hinge is to see who liked you.”
Your “Discover” feed will display singles that match your specified criteria, and a curated group of “Standouts” will make up the third feed (more on that in a moment).
But no matter where you search, you can only “like” a maximum of 10 people per day. Anything beyond that requires a premium subscription (more on that in a moment).
You must like or pass a profile before you can view the next one.
Messaging on hinge
With hinge you can send a message before likening – you can add a comment with your like.
You can like and comment on any part of a user’s profile, whether it’s a photo or a quick reply. That makes it easy to start a conversation about Hinge, which is the whole point of the more interactive format.
Appropriate for Bumble
Bumble has 3 “modes” – one for dating, one for friendships and one for business networking.
In dating mode, like Tinder, users swipe through a match feed. When you and someone you are interested in swipe directly on each other, a match is formed.
Bumble allows free users to swipe right — or “vote,” as they call it — about 100 times every 24 hours. For unlimited swiping you need to upgrade.
News on Bumble
Once you’ve matched, Bumble sets itself apart from competing dating apps with a big twist. Only women can send the first message. The exception is same-sex matches, then any person can send the icebreaker.
Founder Wolfe Herd, a big proponent of women’s empowerment (particularly in tech), envisioned a Tinder that was “women-friendly.” Women on Bumble don’t have to sift through piles of unwanted messages from men — especially lewd or obscene ones.
So women take the first step – but the clock is ticking. The Icebreaker must be sent within 24 hours or the match will expire. Men then have a day to reply or the same thing will happen.
Both halves of a game have a chance to add an additional 24 hours to the countdown, but extending more than one game per day requires a premium subscription.
Bumble doesn’t allow men or women to send a message before matching, although you can respond to a prompt or a photo on someone’s profile by sending an emoji. The emoji will appear when the other person swipes right.
Category Winner:
Hinge is better than Bumble for boys when it comes to matching & messaging. With the right messaging strategy, you can send the kind of icebreakers women want to see.
57% of men said they don’t get enough messages on dating apps, and that’s a frustrating position when you’re not in the driver’s seat.
The ability to send a message before you’ve actually matched can be a game changer for some men, so much so that it’s a premium perk included with Tinder Platinum.
Also, it’s relatively easy to write a personalized message in response to a quick reply or a profile picture on Hinge. If your profile and photos aren’t enough to convince someone you’re a good match, a great Hinge message could send them over the fence.
For women, it depends on how you feel about *always* having to start the conversation. Only 30% of single women said they received too many messages in a recent Pew poll.
As Fast Company theorizes, “Many women feel that making the first move is just too much work and they’d rather open their dating app and see a bunch of requests.”
If you are looking for a dating app that offers profiles of men who have already liked your profile, you might also want to consider Coffee Meets Bagel.
Hinge vs Bumble: Match quality and filter options
These two popular dating apps attract the kind of singles you want to match. But one of them goes the extra mile.
Hinge Match Quality
As you’d expect from a dating site that calls itself *the* relationship app, Hinge’s matching algorithm identifies highly compatible singles and presents one to the most users each day via the Most Compatible feature.
The Standouts feed is another place for the algorithm to work its magic. The ten or so profile and photo prompts in this section are based on similar content you’ve liked, so the users who wrote them are theoretically more “your type.”
If you tap on the prompt, you can view the entire profile card. This feed is updated daily as an incentive to subscribe often.
Screening games on the hinge
Hinge allows free users to set match preferences for gender, age, specific neighborhood, maximum distance, ethnicity, and religion.
Hinge also allows you to change your location as you like, and it’s not a premium feature.
Upgraded users can use the “Preferences” set, which allows you to filter by:
Height
Children and family plans
educational background
politics
Vices (eg, drinking, smoking, marijuna, and drug use)
Any of these settings can be specified as a “deal breaker” – this means that the Hinge algorithm will exclude profiles that do not fall under these specific criteria.
If a category isn’t designated as a dealbreaker, you may get suggested matches that fall outside of that area but are generally compatible in other areas.
Bumble Match quality
Bumble doesn’t have a feed for specially curated suggested matches, or anything similar to Hinge’s “Most Compatible” or Tinder’s “Top Picks” features. If you’re a free user, all your suggested matches are in one place.
Bumble Premium users unlock the “Beeline” where you only see the profiles of people who have already liked yours.
Screening matches on Bumble
Bumble’s basic filters are gender, age, and distance. Bumble lets you swipe in a variety of locations, but it’s a perk of the most expensive upgrade option – Bumble Premium.
All users can select a filter from the Advanced Filters menu, which includes:
Only verified profiles
Type of dates they are open to (virtual, social distancing with mask, social distancing)
Height
exercise frequency
Star sign
education
Drinking & Smoking
pets
type of relationship sought
children
religion
politics
However, selecting more than one also requires a Bumble Premium subscription.
And there’s a twist: you can only filter by a preference if you’ve provided that information in your own profile. Your answers will be reflected on a badge displayed on your profile card.
Category Winner:
Hinge is better than Bumble when it comes to match quality and filtering.
Most Compatible & Standouts features offer curated match suggestions, plus you can change your location for free to increase your potential dating pool.
Hinge also lets you indicate which of your preferences are real deal breakers, which is an efficient way to avoid reviewing your games and missing out on some great people.
Hinge vs Bumble: Cost and Premium Features
You can use both Bumble and Hinge effectively and for free. But like most dating apps, each offers additional perks to paying members, as well as a la carte in-app purchases.
hinge costs
Hinge offers a premium subscription: Hinge Preferred.
A preferred membership costs around $29.99 for 1 month, $59.99 for 3 months and $89.99 for 6 months.
Hinge also offers 2 in-app purchases:
Profile Boosts ($9.99 for 1)
Roses ($3.99 for 1)
Each Hinge Boost lasts for 1 hour. Sending a rose on Hinge is equivalent to a SuperSwipe on Bumble or a SuperLike on Tinder. In both cases, if you buy multiple boosts or roses at once, the price will go down.
Bumble costs
You can choose between two upgraded subscription options: Bumble Boost and Bumble Premium.
Boost costs $14.99 for 1 month, $29.99 for 3 months and $47.99 for 6 months. It’s $7.99 to try it out for just one week.
Premium costs $32.99 for 1 month, $66.99 for 3 months and $199.99 for “lifetime” access. You can also try it for a week for $17.99.
Bumble also has 2 in-app purchases:
Headlight ($5.99 for 1)
Super Swipes ($6.00 for 2)
Improving your profile via the Spotlight feature costs less than Hinge, but only takes 30 minutes. The price per use of both features goes down if you buy them in bulk.
Premium Features
Category Winner:
Bumble is better than Hinge when it comes to premium features and overall value. Paying to use a dating app also unlocks many benefits for the investment.
The ability to hide your profile is a huge plus if you’re worried about your clients, colleagues, students, etc. meeting you on Bumble. And we all know it – it’s nice to be able to undo a swipe.
Hinge vs Bumble: Profiles
Both Hinge and Bumble allow users to upload 6 photos. On Hinge, you can replace any number of these photos with videos. Hinge goes one step further than Bumble and requires all 6 spaces to be filled in to start liking profiles.
Bumble doesn’t have a minimum, but encourages users to check their profiles by making this a filter to screen matches.
Let’s take a closer look at the profile format for each app.
hinge profiles
You won’t find a traditional “About Me” style biography on Hinge. Instead, profiles consist of your 150-word-or-less answers to 3 different questions. You can choose the prompts from a menu that changes occasionally.
The order in which you view the answers is up to you, and they appear automatically between the photos in your lineup.
Hinge also displays the information from the Virtues, Vitals, and Vices sections that you want to make visible. This may include your job, school, level of education, political and religious affiliation, etc.
You can also link your recent Instagram feed to your Hinge profile.
Bumble Profiles
Bumble has an “About Me” section like you would find on Tinder.
But it is shorter and is 300 characters or less. You can also choose three prompts to answer, which Bumble has previously dubbed “Move Makers.” Responses are shorter than Hinge, with a 120-character limit.
Bumble displays details like your exercise habits, education level, height, exercise habits, etc. as profile badges.
You can link both Spotify and Instagram to your Bumble profile.
Category Winner:
Bumble is better than Hinge when it comes to how much information you can share with and learn more about your matches.
Slowing down and learning more about your matches is trending – studies by dating giants Match and OkCupid both suggest the era of “slow dating” has arrived.
According to Match’s Singles in America survey, 63% of singles want to spend more time getting to know someone, and overall the focus is less on physical attraction and more on meaningful conversations before meeting in person.
Final Verdict: Is Hinge Better Than Bumble?
It’s close – with a well-written profile and a carefully curated photo lineup, you can meet incredible singles on both dating apps. They’re both popular with singles in their 20s and 30s. (Dating in your 40s or 50s? Try Match.)
Bumble won 3 of the 5 categories, but Hinge won arguably two of the most important ones – Game Quality and Messaging.
So if you only want to use one of them…
Overall, Hinge is better than Bumble for most guys. You want at least a chance to attract her by sending a great message, right? On Bumble, the ball is all hers — it’s more of a passive experience, at least until the first message rolls in.
Hinge’s match-before-you-message format encourages communication, and while you can only like a limited number of women each day, you can at least message them right away.
For women, Bumble is better if you have limited patience with dating apps and want to control what goes into your inbox. But remember, it will *always* be up to you to get this ball rolling.
With a countdown, Bumble is not a dating app to neglect. If you don’t have time to put on your Bumble at least once a day, Hinge is probably a wiser choice – especially if you’re paying for it.
It starts with finding the right dating app…
But at the end of the day, it’s not just about Bumble vs Hinge. Finding the right dating app is only the first step in your overall online dating strategy. In fact, part of this strategy should be picking several – just to make sure all your bases are covered.
Then you need to create a profile that makes you look your best – in an authentic, natural and compelling way.
But even that isn’t good enough – you also need to package this profile in a way that attracts the kind of person you want to meet.
And once you’ve hooked up with great people, you need to maintain that attraction with messages that ultimately lead to a video chat, phone call, or date.
In short – it’s hard work. Every single step must lay the foundation for the next step – your success depends on it. But the end result – meeting someone incredible – is totally worth all that effort.
Right now you’re probably wishing you could just magically meet the right person without putting all the time and effort into your photo selection, profile writing, and strategy planning.
That’s why you’ll be so excited when you find out that VIDA Select does all this for you. No tricks, no shortcuts, no magic wands. Only a team of experts doing every step for you behind the scenes, so skip straight to the Meet Amazing People part.

How do you tell if you’ve been blocked on Hinge?
According to Hinge, they will not disclose any information about your ban. The only thing that Hinge will tell you is that accounts are banned if they are associated with violation of Terms of Service.
Hinge Dating App Review, Is Hinge Any Good? Is It Free? FAQ’s
Did you know that it is possible to ban or ban your account from your favorite social media platforms, gaming services or dating apps? Trying to figure out why you got banned from Hinge or how to recover your account can be a bit frustrating.
Most services state that they reserve the right to terminate relationships with users at any time, and often this can be for a number of reasons, but without knowing why your account has been suspended it can be difficult to appeal. Luckily, DoNotPay can help you navigate the appeal process when trying to unblock your Hinge account.
Why was your Hinge account banned?
Hinge is a dating app now owned by Match Group and claims to focus on long-term relationships and connections. If that’s the case, you should be able to find a match quickly and then you wouldn’t need their service anymore. However, if one day you try to log in and get a message that your account has been removed and you’ve been banned from Hinge, it can come as a shock.
Violation of the Terms of Use
According to Hinge, they will not reveal any information about your ban. The only thing Hinge will tell you is that accounts will be banned if they are linked to a Terms of Service violation. If you sign up for almost any service, you’ll likely need to read and agree to their terms of service, or you automatically agree to abide by the terms of service simply by using the service.
Here are a variety of common activities on the Hinge Terms of Service that can result in someone’s account being removed:
Misrepresenting (i.e. lying) your identity, age, qualifications, positions, etc.
Using Hinge in an illegal or harmful way
Posting and/or sharing prohibited content that:
Reasonably classified as harassing, embarrassing, alarming, annoying, etc.
Violent, obscene, pornographic, contains nudity or may violate human dignity
racism, sexism, bigotry, hatred,
Slanderous or untrue
Extremely political or related to commercial activities of any kind
Request money or valuables
engage in any form of harassment, bullying, assault, defamation, harm or other forms of abuse against any person
Use the Service in connection with fraud, Ponzi schemes, etc
This isn’t an exhaustive list, but it shows that Hinge has the right to ban users for any number of reasons at their sole discretion, and as mentioned, they won’t tell you exactly why you’ve been banned. This policy is intended to be a safeguard for the individual(s) who reported your account. Unfortunately, without knowing why you’ve been banned, it can be difficult to effectively appeal, but DoNotPay can help.
Who decides you’re banned?
Hinge has a moderation team made up of Hinge employees from a variety of backgrounds and life experiences. Their team is said to have received extensive training and their diverse experience helps them make fair decisions.
Here’s how you can appeal a suspended Hinge account yourself
If you get banned from Hinge, you can appeal the ban. However, you must follow their instructions very carefully for them to consider your appeal at all.
When you receive the notification in your account that you have been suspended, there is a link to appeal. Click on this link as you will need to submit it through the app. Complete all required information in the complaint form. You will not pursue appeals with incomplete forms. Check your email to confirm that your appeal has been received. If you did not receive an email with a confirmation number, you should contact Customer Experience:
Send an email to [email protected] with “Appeal Submission” in the subject line
Describe your objection in detail and why you believe your account has not violated the Hinge Terms of Service.
Provide your name (as listed in your Hinge profile), email address, and the phone number you use to sign up for Hinge.
Do not file multiple appeals and contact Hinge or Match Group staff or social media regarding your appeal as they will not discuss it and you will be directed to follow the process outlined here.
DoNotPay can help you get your Hinge account back easily!
You may only have one chance to appeal your suspended account. If you’re worried about making convincing arguments for yourself, DoNotPay has you covered. We can draft a formal objection and defend a solid case on your behalf.
Here are the three simple steps you can take:
Login to your DoNotPay account and locate the Unlock My Account product. Answer a few questions about your suspended account. Click the Sign and Submit button.
DoNotPay creates a customized letter of complaint in less than five minutes and sends it directly to Hinge. The company is given a two-week period to respond.

Hinge Dating App Review, Is Hinge Any Good? Is It Free? FAQ’s

How To Permanently Delete Hinge (Step By Step Instructions)
As with most dating apps, deleting, uninstalling or removing the Hinge app will not automatically delete your profile – you might still be visible to other users.
And if you’ve upgraded to a Hinge Preferred membership, be sure to read this because deleting the app doesn’t automatically cancel your subscription either.
This quick guide provides step-by-step instructions on how to delete Hinge and cancel your favorite subscription!
How to permanently delete your hinge profile
Tap the Settings icon Tap Account Scroll all the way down to Delete Account and tap Confirm the action by tapping the purple button Uninstall the Hinge app
If you signed up through Facebook, you’ll probably want to remove the app there as well.
How to remove Hinge app from Facebook:
Delete your Hinge profile by following the steps above. Open Facebook. Go to “Settings & Privacy”. Select “Settings”. Select “Apps & Websites” from the “Security” section. Tap Remove. Confirm the action
How to cancel your Hinge Preferred subscription
Since payment is processed through the App Store or Google Play Store, you should sign in there with the same Apple ID or Google Play account that you used to subscribe to Hinge. This is important because if you don’t cancel properly, you could still be charged for auto-renewal.
To cancel your Hinge Preferred membership from your iOS device:
Go to your iOS settings. Select “iTunes & App Store”. Tap Apple ID, then tap View Apple ID. Sign in when prompted. Tap Subscriptions.
If you don’t see the option to turn off auto-renewal, you may have already done so when you upgraded. Check which end date is shown for your Hinge Preferred subscription.
If for some reason you are having trouble canceling your Hinge subscription from your iPhone, you can try canceling it from your computer by following these steps:
Open iTunes Select iTunes Store Select View Account Enter your credentials when prompted Navigate to the Settings section at the bottom of the Account Information page
To cancel your Hinge Preferred membership from your Android device:
Open the Google Play Store app. Look for Hinge. Select Hinge from the search results. Select “Cancel” or “Unsubscribe”. Confirm the action
To cancel your Google Play Hinge subscription from a computer:
Go to payment.google.com (while signed into your Google account) Select “Subscriptions & Services” from the left-hand menu Click on your Hinge Preferred subscription Select “Cancel”
What happens when you delete Hinge
Deleting Hinge will disable all content in your Hinge account, including your matches, messages, photos, and profile information.
This means your profile will no longer be suggested to other Hinge users in Discover and you will disappear from their Matches and Likes sections.
The information is also no longer accessible to you, which means you will also lose access to all your Hinge matches and messages.
However, that does not mean that all of your personal information will actually be deleted when you delete your Hinge account.
According to Hinge’s privacy policy, your personal information will be “retained only for as long as it is needed for legitimate business purposes,” but they do not specify how long that retention period is.
To view a copy of the personal information Hinge has collected about you, you may submit a ticket through the Hinge Help Center. When filling out the requested information in the pop-up window, select either “Data Export” or “GDPR Request” from the “Support Topic” menu.
Note that you must make this data export request before deleting your Hinge profile.

Hinge Dating App Review, Is Hinge Any Good? Is It Free? FAQ’s
Hinge dating app: when did Hinge come out?
Hinge has been around since 2012 (officially launched February 20213) and in June 2018 Match Group acquired a 51% stake in the company with a 12-month window to acquire the remaining shares. In February 2019, it did just that.
It’s an unfortunate departure from a customer perspective (since Match kills all dating apps), but I’m confident some bugs will be fixed at least now that it has more resources from a technical perspective.

Hinge is notorious for having a buggy app. If you’re obsessive compulsive because of this type or always worrying about what it means if I do X but Y happens, this isn’t the app for you. If you can overlook this major disadvantage, then there is great hope for you.
Hinge is often compared to Tinder and Bumble dating apps, but not all apps are created equal. Profiles don’t overlap 100% and some apps are more superficial than others.
(see Tinder App Review and Bumble App Review for a side-by-side comparison of all three).
Hinge refers to itself as the app to be deleted. Instead of quickly swiping à la Tinder, Bumble, you have to tap an “X” for “No” and put a tick for “Yes.” Sounds great – but that’s where the optimism ends.
Below is an overview of the app, including demographics, what to expect, how it compares to other apps, common mistakes to make, what to avoid, and how to get the most out of the app so you can enjoy Likes , matches and more success have high-quality discussions and appointments.

It’s one of the most popular apps today, but over the course of 2020 and the pandemic, many people have suggested that the quality of profiles has dropped and monetization efforts have made it difficult to find people you’re interested in.
Your ability to be successful on Hinge or any app depends on your looks, demographics, photos, smile, style, career, education, accessibility, as well as patience, confidence, and realistic expectations.
Hinge differs from most swipe apps in that users must tap a heart or an “X” to continue. The idea is that people need to spend more time on profiles and be more strategic about heart (profile prompt, specific photo, etc.).

Is Hinge a hookup app? Is Hinge a dating or hookup app? Is hinge for relationships? How is Hinge different from Tinder? Frequently Asked Questions about Hinge (app), is Hinge only for connectors?
Like all dating apps, Hinge is an introductory app. Most people look for relationships on the app, but some people use it to date. Writing “No-Hookups” on a profile is useless as some people see it as a challenge. If you sleep with someone after a date, chances are they’ll ignore you afterwards or assume that’s all you want.
It is best to take your time and get to know people than to assume that a stranger’s words are truthful and honest. People may change their minds about you after you’ve slept with them, or say they’re looking for a relationship but are also open to making connections.
The ability to review profiles, ask questions, and read people is absolutely crucial if you want to get to know someone, understand their intent, and hope to form a relationship with them. Don’t expect dating apps to serve as background checks for you.
Hinge FAQs: How to like someone on Hinge, how to swipe right on Hinge
Instead of swiping left or right like Tinder or Bumble, you have to click the heart button on a photo or respond to a prompt to like it. After doing this, you have the option to send a comment along with a like, which is highly recommended.

Even if you manage to fill out all the recommended fields, the prompts are still there. Hinge has some cute prompts and some scary prompts. You can see some of my favorites here. You can tell a lot about a person by how they not only choose but respond to their prompts.
I’m all for making it easy to Xen profiles that self-sabotage their efforts on dating apps, rather than making them do better. Just because you can doesn’t mean you should.
Unlike Bumble and Tinder, Hinge is not an app that swipes left and right. You need to tap the Like button (heart button) to send a Like on Hinge. You can like a photo or a prompt. Once you click the heart icon on Hinge, the app offers an option to confirm the like and/or add a comment.
It is recommended that users send comments along with likes to improve response rates, show intent, and provide acknowledgment that you have read the user’s profile. If you are not interested in someone, you can tap the X button.
Need Facebook for Hinge? Hinge Facebook friends? Does Hinge notify your contacts?
It was once required, but no longer. Read more about connecting your Facebook and Instagram accounts with Hinge here. Contacts won’t be notified that you’re in the app, but of course your profile is public, so your contacts can see you if you’re both in the app long enough.
Hinge Dating Site: What Are Hinge Dealbreakers? How do hinge settings work?
Hinge deal-breakers make your preferences strict. When this option is selected, Hinge will not show you anyone who doesn’t match that preference. Hinge preferences and deal breakers are not visible to others.
Occasionally you may see people who don’t match your dealbreakers and this can be done to others to change things in their bio and the system will not update automatically. Preferences prioritize people shown to you, but they’re not deal breakers.
You can find more hinge deal breakers here, including the free ones and the ones only available to paying users.
Hinge Prompts, Question: What are the Hinge Questions? How do you answer questions about the hinge?
When it comes to prompts, a cute, playful prompt/response is fine, but if you don’t reveal anything about yourself, your passions, oddities, ambitions, guilt, etc., you can’t expect people to take you seriously. Hinge is notorious for cliche answers to prompts (see how many cliche profile answers you have by checking the dating profile bingo card).
Conversely, Coffee Meets Bagel uses standard prompts where the answers are more thoughtful and detailed. Some Hinge questions and prompts are better suited to creating more open-ended topics ripe for lively debate and connection. Don’t ignore this part of a profile.
Check back often as Hinge updates its list of questions and allows you to update them over time. Think of prompts as a conversation starter (avoid internal referrals or requests) and focus on ways to naturally invite questions and comments.
Hinge Dating Review: Best Hinge Photos To Use In A Hinge Profile
So you’ve filled out the fields, added some good prompts and answers, now for the photos. Hinge (unlike other apps) requires 6 photos. This is a challenge for a lot of people on dating apps who don’t have that many decent photos.
Unfortunately, many people take the position that “you only look as attractive as your worst photo”. So if you add fill photos to fulfill the requirement, you can self-sabotage your efforts.
This seems to be one of the apps’ biggest pain points for users, but there are ways around it if you know who to ask. Here’s an introduction to dating app photos to focus on on your profile.
Can guys message on Hinge first?
Unlike Bumble, Hinge allows men to message first. They actually have several options – they must first like a photo or respond to a prompt, after which they can add a message to the like.
Usually, messages with likes get more replies than just likes, unless the message is cliche, vulgar, or lazy.

The biggest mistake girls and boys make with a hinge profile
After reviewing thousands of profiles on Hinge, the biggest mistake people make is filling out incomplete profile fields. Many people fill in the bare essentials – age, location, height and maybe spirituality/religion.
You need to fill out more than that. Smoking, Drinking, Children, Job, Industry, Hometown should also be included. If you don’t fill this out, people won’t take you seriously.
Browsing Profiles on Hinge: Can you browse profiles on Hinge?
Once the profile is set up, you can now start mopping, but not as fast. Hinge is popular in many major cities, but a little thin (in terms of profile count, engagement) in suburbs where Tinder still reigns supreme.
Assuming there are enough people in your area demographic (used mostly by 25-45 year olds), then Hinge’s typing feature is where a lot of people get nervous.
The main knock on the dating app is that it seems like tapping the X or tick will not register and the profile will reappear. Similarly, messages sent to profiles don’t seem to go through when profiles are viewed again. Has it been sent? Was it a bug or did it pass and shouldn’t I seem needy. Those are all things that go through people’s minds when using Hinge.
Can you go on Hinge incognito? Can you hide your account on Hinge, does Hinge have an incognito mode? Can you block contacts on Hinge?
No, but you can pause your account to hide your profile from others. Scroll down for details. Hinge doesn’t have an incognito mode or contact blocking method. The league has it (somewhat).
How to change visibility on Hinge?
Go to Settings to limit the visibility of certain aspects of your profile like gender, education and more.
How does the hinge algorithm work? How does Hinge decide who to show you?
Hinge selects who it shows you based on age, location, likes, paid user boosts, new profile boosts, etc. Hinge, like many other apps, aims to captivate new users by showing attractive profiles and in progress of time returns to the mean. Once hooked, users are tempted to upgrade so more profiles can be viewed before they run out.
Hinge takes your demographics into account and displays somewhat relative profiles based on preferences and your attractiveness.
The more desirable you are, the more you will be shown to others. That’s not to say you have to be a model to do well on Hinge, but self-sabotage efforts can definitely limit your ability to be successful.
All the more reason to start with a good profile than to try an unproven, self-sabotaging, little effort, creativity, or enthusiasm.
How to Use Hinge: How to Like Someone on Hinge, Hinge X Button
Instead of swiping left or right, click the heart button. You can choose what you particularly like about the profile by clicking the heart (Like button) on a photo or by replying to a prompt. If you don’t like the person, tap the “X” button.
How to See Likes on Hinge: Can you see who likes you on Hinge without paying?
Hinge allows users to see who likes one by one. Users must like or skip/share the profile to see the next like.
How to match at the hinge? How do you see who likes on Hinge? How to match at the hinge?
Hinge allows free users to see who likes them on their Likes tab, but only one at a time. An action is required to see the next like (either like to create a match or skip the like profile and sent like will be removed). When a user likes you and you like them too, they move from the Likes tab to your Like tab.
Matching requires both people to like each other’s profiles, photos, or prompts. Once that happens, a popup will indicate that you both match. Not all game notifications are real-time, nor can you see all your games at once (you may need to clear your queue).
Hinge is for relationships, quality doesn’t match volume usage and casts the widest possible net. Apart from that, users are more likely to agree with others if they send a message along with their like. Don’t just say hello, hey, what’s up, because that shows a lack of effort and creativity.
Hinge Standouts Feature: Hinge Standouts Explained, Frequently Asked Questions, What Does It Mean? How do you get featured on Hinge Standouts?
Hinge Standouts Feed is a way to highlight quick responses from users. The users with the most likes and comments from other users aimed at their prompts are usually featured on Hinge to encourage more thoughtful, complete profiles and prompt responses.
Hinge will also sprinkle in users you’ve liked or commented on in the past.
If you want to appear on prominent hinges, learn to write good prompt responses. The prompts you choose are important because people who have chosen similar prompts are more likely to see them. So choose wisely! Lazy, cliche prompts on Hinge lead to lazy standouts on Hinge.
