Genshin Impact released this week and there are a variety of ways to create an account and link it with your credentials. You only need one method, even only one username and password to play Genshin Impact. However, if you are afraid of losing your password, it helps to link as many methods as possible.

If you’re a mobile gamer who thinks you can’t get your account on PC please read on, it’s designed horribly but yeah you probably just signed up with the wrong person.

I decided to make this quick little guide as it’s a bit confusing at first, I had to ask someone how to change credentials myself. Feel free to share other Genshin Impact tips and ask questions in the comments! I can create more guides based on people’s questions.

Create from your account

It doesn’t matter which method you use to create your account initially, so don’t be afraid to use username, mobile phone, email or anything else. Just create an account and play through part of the intro until you can open the menu.

If you create an account and have concerns about using that email/twitter account, don’t worry, you can link another method and unlink most account methods. So if you enter an email and want to use a different one, don’t leave the account, just change the link. However, you cannot change the username.

Link or unlink Genshin Impact accounts

Note that you cannot link a method to 2 accounts: you must first log into the linked account, add a second linking option to that account, and then unlink the mobile/email/google/etc. cancel accounts. Usernames cannot be unlinked.

To change your account associations, go to the Paimon menu, the icon at the top left of the main interface:

Next, go to the Settings menu via the gear icon:

Linking options for Genshin Impact accounts

Here are all the methods to link and protect your Genshin Impact account. Note that any third-party account/email address/etc. can only be linked to one account. So if you create an account using one of these methods and then try to link a new account to that old third-party account, you won’t be able to.

There isn’t much benefit to linking more than one account type, it just helps you retain access to your account if you forget your password. You need to verify your account (password, email, text) to link a new method, but once linked, you only need to provide a set of credentials to log in on any device.

username

A default username and password is the easiest way to set up your Genshin Impact account, but forgetting your password can be a problem. If you’re using a username, I recommend linking at least one of the other methods below as well.

Note that your username is neither your user ID (the “friend code” you add people to in-game) nor your character name (which can be changed at any time). It doesn’t have to be memorable or relevant to other people, it’s just for logging into Genshin Impact.

E-mail

I would recommend linking at least one email in case you forget your Genshin Impact password. You will need to enter your email address and will receive a verification code in your inbox when you link an email. Unlike the username, you can’t lose it nearly as easily unless you’re one of those totally insane people who create separate emails for each service without storing the password in a password manager. Every modern browser has a password manager, please use this one.

You can link your mobile number instead of an account code, like an email that sends you a code (via text) to enter. Again, unlike username/password, it’s hard to lose, but if you switch phones without porting the number, you could be in trouble.

Game Center, Apple ID, Google

I STRONGLY recommend that you don’t bother linking Google or Apple accounts. They are responsible for almost all problems people have and cannot be used on other platforms. You are useless. Immediately add a second method to your account if you have already done so.

From an iOS device, you can link your Game Center and/or Apple ID account. These can only be linked on iOS. You don’t need to link your Game Center to play on iOS, it’s just a different way to sign in and one that doesn’t work on PC. Note that linking mobile accounts will not prevent you from playing on PC. You just can’t use this account if you sign in via PC. You need to add a non-Apple/Google account link to sign in on the PC. I strongly recommend email or username instead.

Likewise, Google accounts can only be linked and only used on Android.

Note that if you also want to play on PC, you will need to link another account method to play your account on PC. It’s ok if you already created the account with Apple ID/Game Center/Google, just add a second type of login. If you’ve already linked another method, there’s no reason to link a mobile-only account unless you’re concerned about losing access to all of your non-mobile account options.

“I can’t access the mobile account on PC”

Please read the section above. When I see this, people 100% use their Android/iOS account to sign in on mobile (don’t do that) and then use email to sign in on PC and it doesn’t work .

This is because the email itself is treated differently than a Google/iOS account. Since Google/iOS accounts don’t work on PC, you created a second account on PC with your email instead.

You can use the same email address as your Google/Gamecenter account as the email account, but it will still be treated as a different account. If you use this email on PC without linking it to your mobile account as an email, it will not work.

Either remove your email address from the PC account (add a username/password, then unlink the email) or add a username/password or other email address to mobile account, then log in with that username/password/email address on PC and your account will be there.

Again, never use Android/iOS accounts for Genshin. It’s not a permanent bug, but it’s the cause of over 90% of account confusion. Your account will NOT be lost, you just need to FIRST add a link to your existing account and THEN log into PC using that link.

PS4 accounts

PS4 accounts can now use cloud saves like everyone else starting with Genshin Impact version 2.0, more details on the official blog.

Can I play on PC?

Your character can switch between PC, Playstation and Android/iOS at any time, you can easily play on both platforms without reinstalling, rebooting, “transferring” saves, etc. You just log in to the same account.

You just need to link any account method except Google/Apple/Game Center. Use one username, email, Twitter, Facebook, or mobile phone number, then simply log in to both devices with accounts linked to the same character.

Should I use Bluestacks to play on PC?

My goodness no!! I’ve seen this question several times, Genshin Impact has a native PC version that works a dozen times better than emulated Android, please download the native version instead. It will work over 10x better.

Sign out of Genshin Impact

This is another slightly confusing one; There are two buttons on the title screen that ask if you want to log out. The one on the left with the “Power” symbol closes the game. The one on the right with the “go through a door” icon is the log out button.

Click the right button to log out of an account, to switch accounts, or if you created an account by mistake and want to use different credentials. You don’t need to sign out to sign in on another device, just to change the account on your current device.

How to delete a user from your PlayStation

While deleting users from your PlayStation 4 frees up space for more of your content, you may want to check with the person who created the account before proceeding with not deleting any of their important information.

What happens to a deleted account?

When you delete a PlayStation account from your system, all data related to the user, including saved game data and screenshots, will be deleted. In addition, any games, applications or media purchased by the profile will become inaccessible as the license for that content will also be removed; The only exception is when another user of the system also has a license for the material in question.

Playstation accounts can be re-downloaded onto a system if a user wishes to use your console again. There may be times when downloading a profile to your PlayStation is too much of a hassle. for example, if someone just wants to join a game you are playing. If you only need a temporary account, consider creating a guest account for your visitor. Instead of signing in with a user account when prompted, select the Add New User option, and then select the Guest Account option.

Genshin Impact Cross-Save finally includes PlayStation consoles with the release of 2.0, meaning you can now play on any platform on any platform. While cross-save working between mobile and PC is pretty easy, a few more steps are required for people who want to get their account working between PC and PlayStation.

Genshin Impact Cross Save: PS4 to PC

There are a few things you need to ensure before linking your PSN save to a miHoYo account. First, you need an email address that has not already been used to register a miHoYo account. The kicker is that your PSN email can’t already be linked to a miHoYo account thanks to the way Genshin Impact sets up PlayStation saves.

As long as you have an email address that isn’t already associated with a miHoYo account, set it up as follows:

Log into Genshin Impact on your PlayStation 4 or 5.

Go to Settings, then select Account and click User Center. From there, click Link Account.

, then select and click . Press from there. Enter your email address to create a miHoYo account and link your PSN to it.

Genshin Impact Cross Save: PC to PS4

Cross-saving from PC to PS4 is a little easier, but make sure you don’t already have a save file on your PlayStation console. That’s how it’s done:

Install and launch Genshin Impact on your PlayStation 4 or 5.

Can I unlink my accounts later?

nope! Once you’ve linked your PSN and miHoYo accounts, there’s no turning back. So make sure you have the right accounts on both sides before making any commitments.

Are there restrictions on cross-save?

There are a few, especially for gamers who opened their account on their PS4 or PS5. All PlayStation exclusive items, such as the glider and sword, cannot be used while playing the game on PC. However, it seems like you can claim Horizon Zero Dawn’s Aloy early on on PlayStation and use her on PC without restrictions.

Another thing to consider is that you can only make in-game purchases on the platform you started on. So if you started out on PlayStation, you can’t buy anything in-game on PC. You can use the miHoYo Recharge Center to purchase a Monthly Pass or Genesis Crystals, but Battle Passes must still be purchased on your original device. Any Genesis Crystals you buy are also bound to the device you bought them from. So if you have a stack of Crystals on your PS4, turn them into Primogems to use on PC.

Genshin Impact is removing the ability to override player email accounts to improve overall game security. Players can still switch between linked accounts, but starting May 17, players will no longer be allowed to unlink their email from their Mihoyo accounts. This is intended to increase player security when playing Genshin Impact and is most likely a move to improve the quality of in-game account security.

On May 11th, an official tweet was published detailing a new security measure being introduced by Mihoyo for Genshin Impact. This new measure requires players to associate an email with their miHoYo account, adding an extra layer of security. If players wish to unlink their email accounts, they must do so before May 17th, as the option will no longer be available after that date. It seems that players who disconnected their accounts before this date can continue playing with an unlinked email, but miHoYo recommends players to link it for extra security.

Cross-save or cross-progression will be added to Genshin Impact with the 2.0 update, along with the new city of Inazuma and several new characters. This means that before you had to maintain different characters on different platforms, you can now play as your traveler on multiple devices.

Developers MiHoYo recently detailed how this works, and while the linking process is a bit tricky, it’s not as complicated as it sounds. Here are the steps, and since the update is relatively new, users should make sure their version of the game is up to date.

A note on terminology: we refer to a generic “iOS/Android/PC” account as a “MiHoYo account”. This is because you need to create your own account to play on these devices. The PlayStation, on the other hand, creates its own MiHoYo account separate from the one on the aforementioned devices when you first open Genshin. Therefore, for the sake of distinction, we refer to this as a “PSN Account”.

If you’ve only ever played Genshin on one device – either your phone/PC or your PlayStation – then there’s good news: linking the two and enabling cross-saves is possible. Note that you cannot unlink accounts once linked. So if you want to keep your gaming time separate between the two devices, don’t follow the steps below.

If you’ve played Genshin on your PlayStation up to this point and haven’t yet signed into an account on another device, you’re in luck. This process will be relatively easy.

A browser window will open showing you the name of your PSN account and giving you the option to Link Account.

After clicking the blue “Link” button, you will need to enter an email address that is not already linked to a MiHoYo account. A verification code will be sent to your email address which you will need to enter on the link page, but after doing this the account on your PlayStation will be linked to that email address.

Once you have logged into that respective account on your Android phone, your progress will be linked between the two. You can even unlock PlayStation trophies when playing on your phone.

Android/iOS/PC for PSN users

For those of you looking to transfer the progress you’ve made on Genshin from your MiHoYo account to your PlayStation, this requires some attention on your part.

Open Genshin Impact on your PlayStation for the first time. Read and accept the Terms of Use and Privacy Policy.

Enter your MiHoYo account email address in the pop-up window. DO NOT click beyond this window. This is your only chance to log into your account and link it to your PlayStation before a MiHoYo account is created for you.

Once you’ve signed in with your email address, your MiHoYo is now linked to your account on PlayStation and your progress will be shared across both platforms.

What if I played Genshin on both?

There is some bad news for those who have already made progress on PlayStation and another device – you cannot link the two active accounts. You basically have to pick one or the other, or give up the idea of ​​linking altogether. Here is MiHoYo’s official explanation: “The reason is that your account for PSN automatically registers a miHoYo account after you log into Genshin Impact. Therefore, it cannot be linked to an email address that is already linked to another miHoYo account.”

If you have progress on both accounts, you can keep both and play at least one on two devices by using a different or new email address to link to your PSN Genshin account. If you log in to this account on your PC or phone, you can view the progress of your character saved on PS. You cannot play with your other character on your PlayStation, but you have at least one character on multiple devices.

There are some limitations to cross-save. For example, it is not supported on different servers – you can only have cross-save on a single server. It is also not supported for TW, HK and MO servers as they do not yet exist for PSN. For a complete list of all caveats, see MiHoYo’s FAQ on the subject. How to Delete Your Genshin Impact Account by Yourself

The easiest way to delete your account is through the website. Note that there is a 30-day cool-off period before accounts are permanently deleted. It is not possible to use this method to delete an account immediately. Follow these steps:

If you have created an account via PS4, you must unlink the account by sending an email to [email protected] with the exact subject line PSN Account Unlink Request and following the instructions that the system sends back.

The biggest problem you could face is not having access to your account or email. You may have trouble proving that you are the account holder and not a malicious person trying to ruin another player’s day. Also, they don’t make deleting accounts particularly easy in general. In fact, until recently there was no way to delete without contacting customer service via email. This might be intentional to prevent quick deletion and re-creation of accounts to get better stats.

How to link your Genshin Impact account between Android and PC: Open Genshin Impact on your Android device It’s easy. Open the game on your Android mobile device.
