Formation of the island[edit]

Pre-colonial era[ edit ]

Before colonization, the island nation was home to the Kingdom (Kedatuan) of Katugasan, of Tugas, the Molave ​​trees that cover the hills, which along with fireflies abounded on the island. Spanish era[edit]

The island was first sighted by the Spanish in 1565 during the expedition of Miguel López de Legazpi. American rule and World War II[edit]

At the turn of the century, Spain ceded the Philippines to the United States with the Treaty of Paris, which ended the Spanish-American War. The island of Siquijor felt the presence of American rule when a unit of the American Cavalry Division came and stayed for some time. The US military governor in Manila appointed James Fugate, a scout with the US Infantry California Volunteers, to oversee and implement organizational and developmental programs at Siquijor Island. Although not the focus of military action, Siquijor was not spared by World War II. Imperial Japanese detachments occupied the island between 1942 and 1943 and announced their arrival on the island with heavy shelling. At the outbreak of war, Siquijor was a sub-province of Negros Oriental led by Lieutenant Governor Nicolas Parami. Lt. Governor Parami refused to pledge allegiance to the Japanese forces and was taken from his residence in Poo, Lazi one evening by Japanese soldiers and taken to military headquarters in Larena. He was never heard from again. On November 10, 1942, Japanese warships began shelling Lazi from Cang-abas Point. A garrison was established in Lazi in the old utility building of the central school. Filipino guerrillas involved in sabotage and interaction during this period caused chaos in Japanese life and property.

During this period, Siquijor was briefly ruled by Shunzo Suzuki, a Japanese civilian appointed by Japanese forces until he was assassinated in October 1942 by guerrilla forces led by Iluminado Jumawanin of Caipilan, Siquijor. Mamor Fukuda took control of Siquijor from June 1943 until Japanese forces left the island when the Liberation Forces arrived in 1944. In 1943, the Japanese puppet government appointed Sebastian Monera of San Juan as governor of Siquijor. However, his administration was interrupted when he was executed, believed to be by Filipino guerrillas operating in the mountains of Siquijor.

On September 30, 1943, the US submarine USS Bowfin (SS-287) delivered supplies to the people of Siquijor and evacuated people from the island.[10]

On February 21, 1945, the destroyer USS Renshaw (DD-499), part of Task Unit 78.7.6, escorted a convoy of about 50 different DropShips with 12 other escorts. At 10:59 a.m., Renshaw was attacked off the Siquijor coast by a Japanese midget submarine, causing extensive damage to the ship and killing 19 crew members.

In mid-1945, local Filipino soldiers and officers from the 7th, 75th, and 76th Infantry Divisions of the Philippine Commonwealth Army arrived and, along with recognized guerrilla fighter groups, liberated Siquijor.

After 1945[edit]

For a time, Siquijor was a sub-province of Negros Oriental, but became an independent province on September 17, 1971 by Republic Act 6398. The move was supported by the people of Siquijor as they have a different culture than that of Negros Oriental. while Marcos used the movement as a vehicle to enlist the support of the people of the island to secure acceptance of martial law the following year.[12] The capital, formerly Larena, was transferred under martial law to the municipality of Siquijor by Proclamation No. 1075 in 1972.[13]

In 2006, the Lazi Church was added by the government as an extension of the Baroque Churches of the Philippines UNESCO World Heritage Site. Registration of the church has since been pending.[14]

Siquijor is an island province in Central Visayas. It is southeast of Cebu and Negros across the Cebu Strait (also called the Bohol Strait) and southwest of Bohol. Panglao Island, which is part of Bohol Province, has a soil composition similar to that found throughout Siquijor Island.

Siquijor has two distinct climate zones, dominated by Am. The overall climate falls within Corona’s climate type IV, characterized by not very pronounced maximum precipitation with a short dry season of one to three months and a wet season of nine to ten months. The dry season begins in February and lasts through April, sometimes extending into mid-May.

Five of the parishes experience significant rainfall for most months of the year, with a short dry season that has little impact. This location is classified as Am (Tropical Monsoon) by the Köppen-Geiger climate classification system. The coral reefs that surround the island offer snorkelers and divers some of the best diving in the Philippines. Siquijor has been declared a marine visitor arrival among the three provinces of Region VII.

To take a steamy inhale, add a few drops of your favorite oil — or a few drops of each oil in your preferred blend — to a bowl of hot water, hold a clean towel over your head, and breathe in the vapors. This is a great way to set the mood for a date night. You can also add a few drops of an oil or blend into a diffuser of your choice to fill a larger space with your favorite potion and evoke amorous feelings when your special someone walks in.

In addition to the blends mentioned in the guide, you can make a delicate floral water love potion by mixing 8 drops of Rose Absolute with 35 drops of Bergamot, 2 drops of Cardamom, 10 drops of Grapefruit, 20 drops of Lavender, and 20 drops of Orange Essential Oils in 50 ml of Rose Flower Water and 50 ml orange blossom water. For another water-based sensory-stimulating potion, try mixing 25 drops of lavender essential oil with 20 drops each of bergamot and petitgrain, 10 drops each of clary sage, lemon, and rosemary, and 5 drops of lime in 100 ml (3.3 oz). of distilled water. HOW TO MAKE A LOVE POTION MASSAGE

To turn any of the featured essences into a luxurious massage oil, simply mix 4-6 drops with 10ml (2 teaspoons) of your favorite carrier oil. If you prefer a lighter texture for your massage oil, we recommend a non-greasy carrier oil such as rosehip seed, jojoba or meadowfoam. You can also experiment with different combinations of the oils mentioned in the tables or with the suggested blends by mixing them at a concentration of about 12 drops in 20 ml (1 tablespoon) of carrier oil. To make a larger quantity of oil that you can save as a mood enhancer for special occasions, you can mix 40-60 drops of your favorite oils in 100ml (5 tablespoons) of carrier oil.

Another romantic massage oil to use with your partner is a mixture of 5 drops of jasmine absolute and 5 drops each of rosewood and cedarwood essential oils, diluted in 15 ml (about 1 tablespoon) of carrier oil. Massage this mixture alternately into each other’s backs, necks, and shoulders for a blissful bonding experience. For a similar blend with a rich floral base, try combining 13 drops of Rosewood essential oil with 4 drops of Jasmine absolute and 8 drops of Ylang Ylang essential oil. Dilute this blend in 50ml carrier oil before using in a massage.

For a sensually scented self-massage blend, try combining 16 drops of ylang-ylang essential oil with 9 drops of geranium (and a few drops of rose, if desired) in 50ml of your favorite carrier oil. Massage into chest morning and night to induce confidence and body positivity.

HOW TO MAKE A LOVE POTION BATH

If you wish, you can combine your favorite oil or mix it with some bath salts and then dissolve under warm running water before heading to the bath.
