So how do you make the sea moss gel?

Kern gave us his method to share with you. He also warned against picking the real sea moss and let us know that there are fakes out there made in mechanical pools and processed salt. These tend to dry with a white powdery finish. Original, natural sea moss should not contain dried salt or white powder. However, there will be sand and small pieces of rock and shells.

Step 1: Rinse the sea moss thoroughly to remove the residue

Step 2: Soak in spring water for 4-12 hours. Add lime to reduce sea odor.

Step 3: Take the soaked moss out of the water and put it in a blender

Step 4: Add fresh spring water to the blender, remembering that the less water you add, the more concentrated and thick the gel will be.

Step 5: Blend on high for 2-4 minutes

Yes, I am convinced of the hype! I’m not sure I’m reaping all the benefits that sea moss gel is supposed to offer, but it makes my skin look so supple and glowing. Honey, that’s ALL I need to become a believer.

Some people eat a spoon straight. For my kids I mix it in cinnamon applesauce. I keep the seamoss texture just like applesauce (or something smoother) by not blending them in too much and you never know it’s in there.

For me, I like it in my whole smoothies. I throw a scoop in my smoothie every morning. You can also add sea moss gel to soups, desserts, oatmeal, spreads, etc.

It also makes an AMAZING face and hair mask! Try it!! Spread a thin layer on your face and let it dry. Rinse with cold water, pat face dry, and then apply moisturizer. (I use hemp oil mixed with watermelon seed oil as a moisturizer.)

First things first: “There appear to be some health benefits of sea moss, but they have not been thoroughly studied,” Czerwony warns, “and sea moss supplements are not approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.”

There’s a lot of research data on the health benefits of seaweed, sea moss’s cousin — just not sea moss specifically. Nonetheless, it is considered generally safe for consumption, and the benefits are consistent with those of other seaweed.

It’s heart healthy

Algae are a bit of a superfood. It has a higher fiber content than most vegetables — which is good, since fiber has all sorts of beneficial effects on the body. It can improve blood sugar control, help lower your cholesterol, and reduce your risk of chronic diseases like diabetes and heart disease.

Sea moss also has about 6 grams of protein per 100 grams, a staple for training. Just don’t just rely on sea moss for exercise recovery! You still need to make sure you’re getting enough healthy food, hydration, rest, etc.

After cleaning the sea moss, place the sea moss in a large bowl and cover with filtered, alkaline, or spring water. Make sure all parts of the sea moss are covered. Then cover the sea moss and let it soak for at least 12-24 hours. You can leave it covered on the counter at room temperature. You don’t have to soak the sea moss in the fridge.

Once it has finished soaking, it will expand as it has absorbed the water. It is now ready for use. You can leave the sea moss in this state and use it as needed, or you can prepare a sea moss gel (highly recommended).

Does Cooking Sea Moss Kill the Nutrients?

Boiling sea moss is a method some people use to create sea moss gel. I prefer to soak it raw for the highest integrity and nutritional content.

How To Make Seamoss Gel (Seamoss Gel Recipe)

Once you have your soaked sea moss, remove the sea moss from the liquid and transfer to a clean, dry plate. Don’t throw away the water as this water, which now contains tons of nutrients from the sea moss, will be used to make the gel. (If your water has a lot of debris or is cloudy, discard your water and use fresh spring or alkaline water to make your sea moss gel.)

Put the sea moss together with the water in a high speed blender. Use 1 cup of water to start and add more depending on what consistency you want your gel to be.
