So, here are the methods to fix headphones not working in Discord:

1. Specify an output device for audio

If your audio device is not set as your primary input and output device, then this is the cause of the Discord app no ​​audio in headphones issue. Setting your headphones as the primary output device will fix the problem for you.

Right-click the speaker icon in the lower-right corner of your desktop.

4. Reset device audio

Sometimes Discord audio issues can be caused by Windows audio settings and resetting the audio settings will get you back on track.

Follow these steps to reset your audio in Windows:

Press the Win + R keys on your keyboard to open the Run command box.

Type services.msc in the box and press Enter.

Right-click Windows Audio Services.

Next select Restart from the menu.

Scroll down and restart Windows Audio Endpoint Builder and Remote Procedure Call (RPC).

5. Change legacy audio in Discord

Sometimes Discord encounters hardware compatibility issues with audio devices.

While Discord’s latest audio subsystem is perfectly fine, it’s not compatible with all headsets. If this is the case, switching back to the legacy audio subsystem may resolve the issue.

Open the Discord app.

Click the Settings icon.

Scroll down to Audio Subsystem.

Choose the Legacy option and confirm.

Therefore, your headphones will not work when the audio enhancer app is turned on. So, to get your headphones working, turn off all audio enhancement software before using the Discord app.

8. Check the audio connections

The cause of the headphone problem might be deeper than you think. If there is a problem with your headphone jack, the source of the problem could be there.

Check your audio connection with another pair of headphones that you borrowed from your friend. And if you see that this one works, then there’s no problem with your audio connection. But if there is no sound even on these headphones, then you have a faulty audio connection on your device.

9. Use a DAC (for power-hungry headsets)

Last but not least, if you own a pair of power-hungry headphones that are struggling to keep up with your PC without an external DAC amp, then this could be your culprit.

Some headphones require an enormous power source and an external DAC amplifier. If you’re using one of these, you can’t connect it directly to your PC. If your PC cannot generate enough power source for it, you will not hear any noise in your headphones.

Let’s start by restarting your device. This is generally the first thing you should do when you encounter a Windows problem.

Then you need to see if your headphones are the problem. If the headphones don’t work for other Windows sounds, the problem is probably not with Discord.

To check this, navigate to the bottom right corner of your screen and click on the speaker icon. A slider appears above it. Adjust the slider and see if there is a sound when you release the left mouse button. Alternatively, you can just play music on your computer, YouTube, etc.

If the Airpods are not compatible with the latest audio subsystem that Discord uses, you can try using the older audio system.

Sometimes the problem might not be related to the headset and Discord server. The server you are on may be country locked or have low connectivity.
