Many women have asked me over the years what shoes to wear with skinny jeans. Not surprising at all given that shrink-wrapped jeans have been a huge (or should I say skinny? bwahahahah!) fashion influence over the past decade.
And if trend research has anything to say on the matter, it’s that these tight @ss jeans are going absolutely nowhere. It seems that skinny jeans have become a classic to be reckoned with!
So I decided to tackle this fashion conundrum and put together a simple style guide. This includes what shoes to choose and which ones to avoid to look stylish in your skinny jeans in 2022.
Are skinny jeans out of fashion?
No they are not! In fact, they have become an essential part of the denim wardrobe. This means they will be a style of choice for a long time, suitable for all ages, styles and body types! However, that doesn’t mean that skinny jeans aren’t low-key in style every few seasons.
At the moment, this style of jeans features heavily in mid- to high-waist styles, with ankle-length to cropped versions always in trend. This includes skinny jeans that aren’t particularly tight at the ankles.
I suggest investing in a quality pair (like this pair of skinny jeans) that won’t lose their shape or color easily so they will last you for many seasons to come!
Luckily, there are some basic shoes and trendy shoe types that look best with the shrunken pant silhouette. This includes wearing skinny jeans and pumps, skinny jeans and wedges and much more!
If you have super skinny legs and/or massive feet, that’s an even more important factor that I’ll address as I walk you through each shoe style.
Because really, most of us fashion-forward ladies would rather look like a well-dressed street style fashionista caught by a photographer than a clown.

Which shoes to wear with skinny jeans
It goes without saying that style and what is considered “the best” in fashion or otherwise is entirely down to personal taste and culture.
If you’re looking for a guide to skinny jeans that are on trend, classy and looking for more traditional proportions seen in street style images during fashion weeks, then this guide is for you.
Because let’s face it: most of us have trouble removing chunky, giant shoes with a pair of jeans this dainty! So here is your guide to the different types of shoes for women that go with skinny jeans.

What shoes to wear with boyfriend jeans
Shoes to wear with mom jeans Skinny jeans with heels Skinny jeans with heels make a nice combination. Not to mention there are so many different types of heels that look amazing. Not only do they make your legs look longer, they upgrade most skinny jean outfits. Of course, the style of heels with skinny jeans you choose and the rest of the outfit will determine what event you can wear them to. These are my favorite outfits with skinny jeans and heels:
1. Skinny jeans and pumps
Love me a pair of skinny jeans and pumps! Single sole pumps, also known as zero platform pumps, with a pointed or slightly rounded toe are the best options. If you must have a platform, go for a minimal one.
Heeled pumps — particularly pointed-toe versions — accentuate the curve of the ankle and look streamlined with the base of the jeans, whether you’ve tied them up or not. In my eyes, these high-heeled pumps look in all colors, subtle or bright, smooth, extremely trendy and fabulously chic.
I mean, it’s no coincidence that retailers are currently showcasing their skinny pant styles with these types of shoes; it is now?!
Kitten heel pumps are also a more relaxed option if you want a more subtle heel. I mean, Prada’s slingback pumps are all the rage!
If you want to keep your skinny jean outfit more classy, look for Roger Vivier pumps (or similar) with a lower block heel and a square toe.
Just like shoes paired with cropped dress pants, cropped skinny jeans, or capri cuts paired with high-heeled pointy pumps, a halter top, and sleek bangs can give a fun 50’s retro vibe!
2. Skinny jeans with wedge heels
Do wedges go with skinny jeans? Well, yes and no. As opposed to wearing these shoes with bell-bottoms, platforms are a tricky type of shoe to wear with skinny jeans.
Some can look good, like above, but others can look absolutely awful (scroll down the post to see which shoes you shouldn’t wear with skinny jeans!!). Skinny jeans and wedges look best with an elegant wedge.
Try pairing your skinnies with a wedge that has the following characteristics:
a lower platform at the front compared to the heel height
an almond or slightly pointed toe shape
an inward heel shape, rather than a blocky one that shoots straight down
3. Skinny Jeans with Strappy High Heel Sandals
Didn’t think I’d write a what to wear with them shoe post without including minimal sandals and Stuart Weitzman’s nudist, did I?
Always a pretty shoe with a simple ankle and front strap that beautifully accentuates the foot and leg. So, perfect with skinny jeans and everything else, really!
Any color will work, although I prefer solid colors and color blocking for shoes this delicate. If your sandals have chunky heels or stilettos, they will look fabulous.
Make sure you roll up these jeans to show off the ankle straps!! The PERFECT smooth A+ shoes to wear with skinny jeans!
Shoes and sandals with chunky heels are another huge footwear trend that will continue in 2022. Strappy or not, chunky heels are an excellent choice for your skinny jeans.
Shoes with a single sole are again best, but if you really want a platform, make sure it’s a fraction of the height of the heel, as pictured above. Otherwise your feet will look bulky and will not match the narrow look of the pants.
4. Clear heels with skinny jeans
If you want to spice up your skinny jeans with modern shoes, clear heels are just the thing! They’re funny but subtle. They pair well with all styles of skinny jeans, long, short, dark or light. Add a plain white t-shirt, a sparkly bodysuit, or anything in between.
From a night out at the club or a summer dinner with friends (or dates!), see-through heels will add height and interest to your outfit without adding bulk.
Flats for skinny jeans
As with pumps, your best option for wearing flats with skinny jeans is a thinner sole with a tapered toe shape.
Why? Pairing skinny pants with a square or rounded toe shape will make you look like a flat-footed duck. Sorry to be so blunt, but that’s the hard truth!
It’s also worth noting that if you have a very long, slender foot, a pointed toe (especially white or a light color) is a huge (pun intended!) no-no.
These make your feet look extra long and awkward. Here below are 3 of my favorite flats to wear with skinny jeans:
5. Ballerinas with skinny jeans
As with pumps, your best option for wearing flats with skinny jeans is a thinner sole with a tapered toe shape.
Why? Pairing skinny pants with a big square or rounded toe shape will make you look like a flat-footed duck. Especially if you have a big foot. Sorry to be so blunt, but that’s the hard truth! Therefore, every toe shape needs to be subtle and streamlined.
It’s also worth noting that if you have a very long, slender foot, a pointed toe (especially a white or light color) is a huge (pun intended!) no-no.
These make your feet look extra long and awkward. Below are 3 of my favorite flats that I wear with skinny jeans.
6. Lace-up flat sandals
If you’re looking for a trendy pair of skinny jeans sandals that will complement literally every casual outfit, complete your look with beige lace-up flats.
Unlike black or white versions, tan, beige, gold, and especially tan strappy sandals are more demure. Yes, the laces add some texture and interest to your outfit, but the color pairs well with all types of skinnie summer outfits from relaxed to dressy casual.
However, if you want a more edgy look, choose a pair of contrasting black or white lace-up sandals with an all-black or black and white outfit.
7. Loafers with skinny jeans
A pair of trendy jeans paired with a classic loafer adds a touch of geek chic to your ensemble. It’s also a great casual combo for any occasion. Not to mention how convenient it is. Well, depending on how tight your jeans are, of course 😉
There are also many styles of loafers that take on many trendy versions of classic loafers, which I’m loving right now. Pointed toe loafers are still a hit. However, penny loafers, cleated soles and chunky styles like the spazzolato Prada loafers are all on the rise. You can even add socks for a twist (more on that in my post on the best socks for loafers!).
Also referred to as loafers & such these days, I just love a slipper with my skinnies. They look casual, modern & chic no matter the material.
If you choose a flat loafer with a pointed toe, these shoes will look best on small to medium feet. Pointed-toe shoes on big feet look oddly disproportionate to ankle-hugging jeans.
Check out my style guide on what to wear with loafers for more loafer outfit inspiration!
8. Oxfords with skinny jeans
Another classic shoe that will instantly spice up your look with a modern twist to your skinny is an oxford. But not just any Oxford! Pointed toe styles with a metallic finish on a contrast rubber outsole will instantly jazz up your skinny jeans.
Brogues, oxfords, or any type of monk-style men’s shoe with a lace-up or buckle work really well.
Now available in many shapes and sizes, I find the almond or pointed toe shapes best suited to these denims. But again, if you have a long foot, I would opt for the former toe shape rather than the latter.
9. Minimal slides with skinny jeans
Both heeled and flat mules are great and easy shoes to style with skinny jeans. And depending on your style, they can dress you up or down for the occasion.
A black, metallic, or white leather slide with high heels or kitten heels will take you from a chic lunch to a night out. Pair these with a darker wash, high-waisted skinny jeans, a tucked-in t-shirt or blouse and blazer.
A flat slide, whether sporty or simple leather slide, can also be used in many ways with skinnies. Keep things casual with a pair of distressed skinny denim jeans, an oversized t-shirt and a flat Adidas Adilette slide.
For casual looks that are also appropriate for the office, choose medium wash skinny jeans and a crisp white or printed floaty blouse, and complete with your choice of jacket.
Boots with skinny jeans
There are a lot of great boots to wear with skinny jeans, as I detailed in my own post. These are my favorite boots with skinnies for early spring through winter:
10. Combat Boots
From classic lace-ups to cleated versions and Chelsea boot combats, these look great with skinnies. Black or white styles can create a rocker vibe. White burgundies look great with earthy outfits. Lots of outfit tips in my post on how to wear combat boots.
11. Ankle boots
You can’t beat an elegant ankle boot with skinny jeans. I prefer smooth, pointed or almond toes with a heel that can be styled up or down. Skin-tight heels make great evening shoes. A slim-fitting flat ankle boot also looks stylish and is more comfortable for everyday wear.
12. Knee Boots
From knee-high boots with a straight leg to over-the-knee models, you have a wide choice! From metallic to leopard print boots, with stilettos or block heels, you can literally wear them however you like.
13. Cowboy boots
These go perfectly with skinny jeans and give a western vibe. Keep your outfit sleek and contemporary, like all black, or add a bohemian feel to your look with a billowy blouse and fringed handbag. Check out my post on wearing cowboy boots for more style tips!
Sneakers with skinny jeans
I like to grab sneakers with skinny jeans when I’m running errands or picking my kids up from school. Although many styles look good with skinnies, these two are my favorites:
14. Classic white sneakers
A classic white sneaker is unbeatable. Whether laced or with Velcro, a simple, minimalist sneaker in white goes with all kinds of skinny jeans outfits.
Imagine a luxe Golden Goose sneaker paired with medium wash skinny pants, a minimalist top and a classic beige trench coat for work.
Or pair a Nike Air Force 1 with cropped or ankle length skinny jeans in a light wash for a more casual look. Add a plain t-shirt and some striped athletic socks if you’re feeling it!
15. Retro sneakers
Retro sneakers in black and white or color block add a fun twist to your skinny jean outfit. You can add skinny jeans in any color, or keep things subtle with black or white (my favorite!) jeans. Add a t-shirt and if it’s winter, add a down jacket and you’re good to go.
Shoes NOT to be worn with skinny jeans
Since these jeans not only taper, but mostly get narrower in and around the ankles, you want to choose a streamlined type of shoe.
This is to keep the area around your feet/shoes from being too big/chunky and oddly proportioned compared to your lower legs and ankles.
So again, if your personal style calls for it and you can rock the look, go nuts. But in general, the list of shoes not to wear with skinny jeans seems too heavy for your skinny jeans and unflattering.
As? They make your feet look blocky, unattractive and squat. But if that’s your style, who am I to stop you?!
Flip flops: These are great shoes for beach vacations or the gym. But styling a simple flop with skinnies can look sloppy and is a bit lazy. But maybe it’s just me…
: These are great shoes for beach vacations or for the gym. But styling a simple flop with skinnies can look sloppy and is a bit lazy. But maybe it’s just me… Flatforms: the higher & blockier, the uglier. They really make your feet look long, flat and not elegant.

Rounded Toe Platform Pumps: Hey, if you want to look like Minnie Mouse or think Arianna Grande has excellent taste, go nuts! But in terms of trend factor, this is an outdated shoe that should probably be reserved under your VERY long flared jeans. But with thin ones they look too clunky and a little trashy in my style books. See Louboutins above with light blue skinny pants.
Final thoughts on what shoes to wear with skinny jeans
In summary, when figuring out which shoes to wear with skinny jeans, you should choose shoes that don’t make your feet look too big, long, or pointy.
The best heels to opt for are heels with a sole or, if necessary, with a minimal platform.
Even when you think of flats, foot size matters and ultimately determines whether the shoes complement the silhouette of the jeans.
But what about BOOTS? And SNEAKERS??? Why don’t you have a section on these types of shoes to wear with skinny jeans you asked?!
Well folks, you’re in luck: I wrote an in-depth post on which sneakers look best with skinnies and the most stylish boots with skinny jeans to wear in the current and upcoming season. Just too many shoes to wear with skinnies to fit in a post!
Maybe you’re ready to step out of your skinnies and into a pair of roomier jeans? If so, I’m here for you! Find out more about the best shoes to wear with flare jeans and 14 best shoes to wear with wide leg jeans here too 🙂

Is skinny jeans still in style 2021?
Despite the fast growth of looser styles — be it baggy, slim-fit, or barrel jeans — consumer interest in skinny jeans hasn’t actually decreased in 2021. Skinny jeans were among Google’s top fashion searches of the year.

Should socks be worn with clogs?
Do you have to wear socks or hosiery with your clogs? No, you do not! With that said, if you live in a cold area of the country, you may want to wear socks to help keep your feet warm. You can certainly wear your clogs barefoot if that’s what you desire.

We get a lot of questions about fashion and shoes, so we thought it would be great to share some of the most popular questions with you, along with our answers of course.
Here are the 5 most common questions and answers about shoes and clogs for you!
Your handbag and your shoes have to be color coordinated? That used to be the golden rule. However, when it comes to shoes and handbags, you can wear any color you want! Feel free to mix and match your colors or just stay within the same color family. That is entirely up to you and your taste in fashion.
Do you have to wear socks or stockings with your clogs? No you do not! However, if you live in a cold area of the country, you may want to wear socks to keep your feet warm. You can definitely wear your clogs barefoot if you wish.
Can I wear clog style boots in summer? Can I wear open clogs in winter? The good thing about clogs is that they can be worn all year round, no matter the style. Clog style boots when worn with a dress or skirt during the summer months will give you today’s trendiest look! Also, wearing open toe clogs to the office or on special occasions in winter is no different than wearing open toe sandals! Plus, it’s a great way to show off your pedicure all year round.
Are real leather clogs difficult to maintain? No they are not! You should avoid wearing them in sloppy, wet and snowy weather to keep them looking beautiful longer. If you live in a part of the country that gets a lot of rain and/or snow, you should pre-treat your leather clogs with a water-repellent product. In addition, leather shoes should be treated with a good leather care product 1-2 times a year so that the shoes last a long time!
Are your clogs true to size? Yes, they do. If you wear a half size or like to wear chunky socks with your clogs, we recommend sizing up or opting for a pair of adjustable clogs.
At Superior Clogs, our styles and colors go great with any fashion! Since Troentorp uses genuine cowhide leather, maintenance is easy. Simply use a quality shoe polish on the leather and mild soap and water to clean the wooden footbed.
Are Dansko clogs fashionable?
Fashion trends come and go with the seasons, and clogs aren’t typically in vogue, but they’re coming back along with lots of fun ’70s-inspired clothing right now, and I couldn’t feel more vindicated. Everyone from Everlane to Dior is making clogs now, but Dansko is still making the best and most affordable ones.

Dansko
I have several pairs of Dansko shoes that I’ve worn regularly for about five years and they still show minimal signs of wear on the soles, even though I often walk more than three miles a day.
Dansko’s soles are usually strong, thick and durable, although they vary by style. Shoes with classic clog soles last the longest. They’re comfortable to wear for long periods of time, and I’ve worn my pair of 2-inch Sam Clog sandals for a solid eight-hour day of walking the concrete streets of New York City with no foot pain. The thicker soles offer excellent shock absorption and the molded footbed inside the shoes offers solid arch support.
Even the pairs I have with 3 inch heels are remarkably comfortable. I usually pick them up for work, so I don’t walk in them that much, but I still walk about three miles on an average work day, and my feet have never had any pain at the end of the day.
All the pairs I’ve owned have had leather uppers, and the leather is durable too. It inevitably scratches here and there, but shoe polish fixes that easily.
The break-in period
The break-in period is generally pain free for me as the leather is flexible and pliable enough to mold to my foot quickly. It’s not like breaking in a pair of classic Doc Martens, which can take months because the leather is so tough.
How to choose the right size
Dansko uses European sizing, so you should use a conversion chart to check your size. For example, I am a US size 8 on most shoes, but occasionally buy a size 7.5 sandals, so I get a European size 38, which is the US women’s sizing range of 7.5 to 8. This size fits perfectly and was also my favorite size for Dansko shoes.
Zappos has a nifty tool to help you find the right size without having to look at a chart. The shop also offers a one-year return policy provided the products are unworn and in their original packaging. So if you get the wrong size, you can send it back. Just make sure you don’t remove any of the tags, damage them in any way, and give them a quick try on at home or in the store. Zappos will send a printable prepaid return label or you can request one to be mailed to you if you don’t have a printer.
If you wish to exchange for a different size, you must return the original pair within 14 days. Once the exchange is processed, the cost of the original order will be credited to an e-gift card to allow you to exchange and receive the correct size.
disadvantages to consider
I’m here to warn you that some people will judge your danskos, but that’s hardly a disadvantage as long as you love them. Depending on your shoe size, converting to European size can be a little tricky – especially the first time. Some in-between sizes are hard to find.
Dansko has many different sole types and some last longer than others. The styles that are more like regular shoes than clogs have the shortest lifespans in my experience. These sole types simply wear out faster than the solid clog style.
The traditional professional clog style doesn’t stay on my feet as well as pairs that fit better or have straps, so I don’t wear them when I have to walk a lot because it annoys me. Many people feel differently and swear by them for jobs that require them to stand for hours.
Many Dansko sandals have metal buckles and I’ve tried a couple of pairs where one strap was chafing on my ankle. I’m picky about strap placement, so now I’m looking for pairs where the straps hit at the right angle. As with buying shoes online without being able to try them on, there is some trial and error.
styles I’ve tried
I have owned a number of different Dansko shoes over the years. Many of the styles I still wear are no longer sold, but some of the newer and classic styles are still available. Below are some of my favorites:
Are Danskos supposed to be tight?
Fit may be slightly snug when stepping in. Toes should not touch the front of the clog. Heel should move up and down freely as you walk.
Two Tone No Show Black Sock
Danform carries Dansko shoes in medium, narrow and wide widths!
MATCHING DANSKO CLOSED BACK CLOGS
The fit can be a bit tight when stepping in. The toes should not touch the front of the clog. The heel should move freely up and down as you walk. These are guidelines to consider when determining your personal fit preference!
MATCHING DANSKO OPEN SANDALS
Open back and sandal styles support the full length of the foot. For some, the heel meets the back end of the shoe; for others, the heel may be slightly forward of the back of the shoe.
CARE INSTRUCTIONS
Wipe with a damp cloth to remove surface dirt. Dansko recommends the occasional use of care products for a richer look.
Why do nurses wear Dansko clogs?
These lightweight nursing clogs are always some of our nurses’ favorite shoes because they feature comfortable, cushioned insteps and coring holes to reduce weight. Our selection of Dansko professional clogs includes open and closed heel styles with the same performance-enhancing features in a range of unique styles.

Childminders do many things from delivering babies to making sure patients go home with exactly what they need to stay healthy. But unlike most professionals, nurses do all of this while on their feet. That means a good pair of shoes is invaluable. Enter Dansko shoes. These super comfortable nursing shoes are unique in that they combine great comfort with accessible style, making them perfect for healthcare professionals.
Why are comfortable shoes so important? Studies show that nurses are more likely to develop musculoskeletal disorders because of daily activities that require prolonged standing or walking. The same studies found that nurses can balance the pressure on the legs, feet, and knees by wearing shoes with a relatively low heel height and added arch support to minimize foot pressure and impact force that lead to musculoskeletal problems.
The history of Dansko
Dansko has been making durable clogs, heels and trainers made specifically for nurses and other professionals for over two decades. It all started when founders Mandy Cabot and Peter Kjellerup took a trip to Europe and saw a simple pair of clipped clogs in a shoe store. The duo imitated these heavenly clogs and shortly thereafter introduced them to the American market. It didn’t take long for the word to spread; Dansko attributes its success to word of mouth.
Are Dansko clogs bad for your feet?
Clogs, like other conventional shoes, strip your foot of its inherent power, destabilize your main foot arch, and contribute to common toe deformities and problems, such as hallux valgus, bunions, tailor’s bunions, hammertoes, clawtoes, among others.
Two Tone No Show Black Sock
From restaurants to offices to hospitals and health clinics, clogs are ubiquitous footwear in work and leisure environments alike. A traditional clog is made entirely of wood, while modern clogs incorporate wood soles (or no wood at all) with uppers such as leather, allowing for more versatility and comfort. Today’s clogs (like Danskos) are inspired by this original wood-style design, and they are sometimes backless, almost always have a heel and sloping toe box, and are usually stiff.
A traditional part of many cultures around the world including Dutch, Swedish and Japanese cultures, clogs are worn for several important reasons including protection, fashion and for certain types of dances. The popularity of clogs has increased in recent years as many consumers have been convinced that clogs are a practical and foot-healthy option.
But is this belief fact or fiction? And are clogs really different from “conventional” footwear? let’s find out
Myths abound
Many doctors (including podiatrists) recommend clogs for patients with foot problems. In fact, the American Podiatric Medical Association (APMA) gave Dansko (a leading brand of clogs) its seal of approval after rigorously evaluating their products and noting that they promote “quality foot health.” Features that have earned Dansko this “high praise” include an anatomical arch support, rocker bottom soles and a heel lift – a feature some doctors believe relieves strain on leg and back muscles.
So it’s no wonder that clogs have acquired an almost mythical reputation as footwear that keeps feet healthy. Unfortunately, this reputation is based on an incredible amount of misinformation, backed and supported by the APMA and other groups that incredibly tout arch support, bizarre sole constructions, and heel risers as beneficial features of shoe design. The idea of clogs as utilitarian footwear has gone mainstream, but underpinning this belief are nothing more than myths unearthed by the footwear industry about what constitutes a healthy and stable home for your feet.
The truth about clogs
Some people who wear clogs experience some relief from foot pain. Unfortunately, however, the relief is often temporary, largely because clogs don’t address the root cause of most foot and toe problems. While the reduced pain may seem like the problem is solved, wearing clogs regularly actually sets people up for more (and often worse) foot problems.
The truth is that clogs are among the most damaging or harmful types of shoes available to consumers. Most clogs share many of the same awkward design traits found in other traditional shoes (see the section immediately below). Clogs, like other traditional shoes, drain your foot of its inherent strength, destabilize your main arch and contribute to common toe deformities and problems such as hallux valgus, bunions, tailor’s bunions, hammer toes, claw toes, among others. Clogs also make it difficult for you to experience much (if any) tactile feedback from the ground you are walking on due to their exceptionally thick and stiff soles.
You won’t hear this truth about clogs from many other sources, which is why it’s so important to heed this warning: Clogs, like other types of traditional footwear, cause or contribute to many foot and toe problems, including neuroma, plantar fascia pain, and ingrown toenails. And they do this because they place your feet and toes in unnatural, compromised positions for many hours at a time. But it’s only by examining the detrimental design features of most clogs that you will get a better sense of how clogs affect foot health and cause problems.
Harmful shoe design features
The following design features are common inclusions in most clogs. These features individually or together change the foot anatomy or have an unfavorable effect and should be avoided:
Rigid soles. Thick, rigid soles make it almost impossible to get a feel for the ground you’re walking on, which can leave you prone to missteps and ankle injuries. However, the biggest problem with rigid soles is that they keep your feet and toes in an impaired and deformed position for long periods of time. Wearing rigid-soled shoes is like putting your foot in a cast and expecting it to get stronger. In most cases, only a very thin layer of material between the foot and the ground is sufficient to protect the sole of your foot adequately. heel height. Most clogs have a design feature called a heel lift that raises your heel over your forefoot. Heel lift is problematic for several reasons. First, it destabilizes your naturally strong main arch (your medial longitudinal arch). Second, it puts excessive pressure on the ball of your foot and the many important structures in that part of your foot (bones, nerves, etc.). And third, it increases the likelihood of an ankle sprain because a raised heel is less stable and rolls more freely from side to side than a heel that is flat on the ground. A foot-healthy shoe has a completely flat sole, from heel to toe. Tapered toe boxes. The tapering of the toe box – and the wedge-like position it forces your toes into – is a major problem associated with most traditional shoes, including clogs. It is well known that clogs have a “wide toe box” and that this is good for foot health. While it’s true that a wide toe box is a foot-healthy design feature to look for in shoes, most shoes that claim to have a wide toe box—including many types of clogs—are actually widest at the ball of the foot, not the Foot the tips of your toes where you need it most. A true foot-healthy shoe has a toe box that allows your toes to splay properly, as nature intended. toe spring. Toe spring is another major design flaw built into most conventional footwear, including clogs. Toe spring, also known as toe ramping, is a design feature that elevates your toes over your front foot. Combined with the heel lift, the toe spring works effectively to invert your main arch, destabilizing your arch and putting undue pressure on the ball of your foot. When it comes to the toe spring, most clogs (even more so than other types of shoes) have both the toe spring itself and the stiffness of that toe spring that are particularly pronounced. The rigid toe spring built into most clogs holds or immobilizes your toes in an unnatural, extended position, which over time contributes to an imbalance in the foot tendons and tight toe extensor muscles. Tight toe extensor muscles and tendons can cause various toe deformities, collectively known as crooked toes.
Permanent effects of clogs (and other harmful shoes)
Clogs unnaturally alter your weight distribution and immobilize your ankles, two conditions that can (in some cases) provide temporary pain relief. But wearing clogs “kicks the can on the street” and later leads to chronic foot problems. Many of the foot problems that eventually afflict clog wearers develop painlessly and are (at least initially) masked by the reduced foot sensitivity that results from wearing a shoe with such extremely rigid soles.
Clogs and other traditional shoes can cause both immediate and long-term discomfort and foot problems. Some research suggests that the loads on hip and knee joints are significantly higher in people who wear traditional footwear than in people who walk barefoot. A 2006 study published in the journal Arthritis and Rheumatism states that conventional footwear may contribute to the prevalence and progression of hip and knee osteoarthritis in our society. Osteoarthritis is an extremely painful joint problem associated with excessive joint wear and tear. This health issue can significantly affect your quality of life and prevent you from enjoying your favorite physical activities.
Conclusion
Clogs are not what they are advertised for. And wearing clogs is not a way for you to improve or maintain your foot health, as most clogs have design features that cause foot pain and problems, either now or later. To truly maintain foot and toe health, look for shoes that are flat from heel to toe, have a toe box that’s widest at the ends of your toes, and have a sole that flexes slightly and twisted. It is also important to restore normal, healthy foot and toe anatomy after years of wearing traditional shoes. A toe spacer like Correct Toes can help you with this.

Most podiatrists and physical therapists recommend medications and certain specific exercises to manage the immediate pain and discomfort of plantar fasciitis.
However, long-term treatment and resolution requires multiple surgeries and lifestyle changes, including better shoes. Most cases are due to simply not having the right shoe for a person’s gait and foot anatomy, which can put a lot of strain on your heel and sole of your foot.
People often walk into a shoe store and trust the salesperson implicitly without learning the basics of proper footwear first. And what’s worse, forgetting the number one shoe rule: comfort.
Uncomfortable shoes are typical because they have no or excessive cushioning, are the wrong size, or just don’t have the right fit for your feet.
So avoid stilettos or ultra high heels, flat shoes, flip flops (unless they have arch support), old shoes, or go barefoot at home all the time. The latter might sound counterintuitive because you would think our feet would do; Going barefoot can make plantar fasciitis worse. Remember that the tissues in your foot are inflamed and need help; it cannot stand alone. Also, avoid wearing too much on brand new shows. You need to break them in with something else first, e.g. B. Put bags of water in it and then put them in the freezer to let the ice expand and stretch the new shoe.
You can turn many of these types of shoes into comfortable alternatives for plantar fasciitis simply by adding slip-on orthotics, although in most cases this is not an option. For example, you can’t get slip-ons in some high heels.

What should I look for when buying shoe brands for plantar fasciitis?
When looking for reviews of the best shoe brands for plantar fasciitis, there are five things to look out for. In fact, they are arch support, deep heel cups, contoured footbeds, removable footbeds, and shock absorption.
Great arch support
Ideal shoe brands for plantar fasciitis should support you through your busy day. As such, they should provide you with arch support to prevent your feet from flattening and help limit pronation.
Contoured footbeds
You should also look out for contoured footbeds as they promote alignment by evenly distributing your weight across your foot.
Removable footbeds
Removable footbeds are ideal for those who need extra arch support. For one, they allow you to easily remove current shoe footbeds and replace them with most custom-made and over-the-counter insoles.
Deep heel cups
In addition, deep heel cups keep your heel cushioned and stabilize you with every step.
suspension
Finally, good brands for plantar fasciitis should help minimize or absorb damaging shock from the ground up. Good shock-absorbing shoes feature thick rubber outsoles for shock absorption and traction.
Don’t let your heel and ankle wobble with every step. Get a shoe that wraps the heel properly and promotes better alignment of the foot in the shoe. Stability in a shoe prevents overpronation (foot rolls inward with every step) and excessive heel movement.
This is a huge plus for many who already have very effective orthotics but need a new pair of shoes. The removable sole makes each pair customizable and provides a person with better grip than a standard sole.

FAQ
The causes of plantar fasciitis can be varied, but the cause is always too much pressure on the plantar fascia (sole of the foot), either due to poor posture when standing up or too much strenuous activity such as running, jumping or training suddenly intensely. Tight calf muscles can lead to plantar fasciitis because they limit your mobility. Naturally high arches that are not properly supported by everyday footwear also contribute to plantar fasciitis.
In addition to simply changing shoes, there are a variety of options. For immediate relief, many podiatrists or physical therapists recommend anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), with ibuprofen and naproxen being the drugs of choice for mild cases.
There are also stretches to improve calf muscle flexibility, or perhaps hot and cold treatments like rolling your foot over a cold water bottle. In some cases, cortisone injections may provide better immediate relief.
Regardless of treatment, you will always be told to reduce or stop activities that make the pain worse. High-impact activities are particularly damaging to your plantar fascia and will be the first thing your doctor bans you from doing. In the long run, rest is the best treatment.
If you rest, follow treatment, and wear appropriate shoes, 90% of people with plantar fasciitis will see improvements after 10 months.
Can I wear crocs with skinny jeans?
Because Crocs are so massive, they look “best” with… You need a skinny or bootcut jean to give yourself more length and streamline your silhouette. If your ankles can show, that’s great too.
Two Tone No Show Black Sock
“Okay, but you’re not a retired gardener.”
“Okay, but are you okay?”
Every time I’ve wanted Crocs, I’m met with confused reactions.
I say… “OK, but everyone just stop!”
It’s hard to argue that Crocs are even remotely visually appealing. But it’s also hard to argue how ugly shoes are. Especially Crocs – thanks Christopher Kane and Balenciaga!
I hate trends, but if the trend is $29.99, it’s available at hardware stores, and gets rude remarks from “friends,” I’m all for it.
I’m so into it, I can’t even get by with a pair of black, navy, or white Crocs… I move all-in with a pair of BRIGHT fuchsia Crocs.
I may hate trends but I love a good challenge.
How to style Crocs really fashionably
All the shoes I buy fit seamlessly into my wardrobe, like my Chanel slingbacks or Repetto Camilles. However, Crocs do NOT go with everything.
Crocs, once a contradiction in terms, are now a reality and can be worn fashionably. You only have to consider one important aspect…
proportions
Although super light, Crocs are a chunky and noisy shoe. Because Crocs are so massive, they “look best” with…
-Jeans
You need skinny or bootcut jeans to add length and streamline your silhouette. If your knuckles can show, that’s great too. Flared jeans don’t work well because the flares hide the croc too much.
– Midi length dresses
If your dress is below your knees, it will work. Above the knees and it looks messy. Right on the knee and it brakes your leg. But about an inch below the knees? It is working…
-Ponytail or Big Hair
You want more volume on top (or you want your hair to be straighter but thicker!) because these shoes are so chunky.
Because my Crocs are incredibly loud, they look best when the outfit is more monochromatic or simple. I already dress relatively simply and in one color, so it’s not a big deal.
I want these outfits to be real and not just another unwearable outfit from buzzfeed or fashion bloggers. So let’s move on to some cool and wearable Crocs outfits…
(…or what I consider a “cool” croc outfit!)
CROCS WITH DRESSES OUTFITS
Left to right: Equipment slipdress with Jennifer Fisher x Goop hoop earrings and a Marc Jacobs clutch; Calypso St. Barths dress with Jennifer Fisher x Goop hoops and a Chanel bag; MIKOH slip dress with a Chanel bag.
Focus: The high hair with the midi length dresses adds more vertical space to your outfit. It also helps negate the casual feel of the Crocs.

…after all, the same Croc styling principles apply when wearing Birkenstock Boston clogs.
CROCS WITH JEANS OUTFITS
The Focus: Jeans and a t-shirt never go together… even at Crocs! Keeping the outfit simple is more likely to make it work.
Although I think I’ve managed to make Crocs look (relatively) cool and wearable, what do you think?

Two Tone No Show Black Sock
Ever since Crocs launched in 2002, almost two decades ago, most people have viewed them as the “black sheep” of footwear. Fashion bloggers and the fashionistas of the time derided the shoe for its chunky design and lack of versatility.
Everyone was wondering how to wear Crocs in style, and many didn’t even think it was possible.
Many fashion cops on the internet have dubbed them “the most hated shoe” and there have even been some blogs dedicated solely to hating the shoe!
A few decades later, everything has changed: Crocs have evolved into trendy accessories that you can flaunt in style. They definitely have a “cool” factor these days, which is why so many celebrities can’t get enough of the cute crocodiles.
Several Hollywood stars including Post Malone, Justin Bieber, Pharrell and Nicki Minaj are all fans of these shoes and have been spotted rocking them at various venues.
Now let’s learn how the so-called “ugly” shoe suddenly became trendy and cute.
In this article we will discuss the following topics:
How to wear Crocs with the right outfit
How to wear Crocs fashionably
How to wear Crocs with socks
How to wear the Crocs bracelet
So let’s find out how to wear crocs fashionably and style them in the best possible way.
What are Crocs
Crocs are comfortable shoes made from a unique closed-cell resin material called CrosLite™, making them soft, lightweight and odor-resistant.
These shoes have one of the best cushioning effects, resulting in a super comfortable and incredibly easy to step into shoe. And that’s why the shoe is mostly known and bought.
CrosLite™ technology is also known for limiting bacterial growth and is easily cleaned with water. And that’s why Crocs are considered to be one of the easiest shoes to care for and maintain.
Upon release in 2002, Crocs have literally been through a roller coaster ride, being loved by some and hated by so many over the years.
Since then, however, fashion trends and ideologies have taken a big turn, and “casual” styles are all the rage. So Crocs are finally finding their place in the fashion world and drawing everyone’s attention!
History of Crocs
Crocs started out as classic, humble, waterproof boat shoes. In the early 2000s, Lyndon Duke Hanson and George Boedecker Jr. sailed the Caribbean waters wearing foam clog shoes they bought for the voyage. Later, these shoes inspired her to start a shoe shop.
The first model of her shoe called “The Beach” was released in 2001 and all 300 pairs produced were sold out.
According to the founders, the shoes were initially a big hit with sailors and sailing enthusiasts, but later became popular with doctors, gardeners, waiters and commuters as the ultimate in “comfort” shoes.
Many fashion bloggers and fashion editors have associated the Crocs with the “clog shoes” of the 1940’s and 50’s. Clog shoes were made from wood and used as protective gear in farming and mining. However, the shoes were always associated with the working class and had little to no fashion appeal.
The similarities between clogs and crocs can be seen in design and functionality. Both shoes have a chunky flat-soled design, making them super comfortable and functional.
A few years later, Crocs popped into the mainstream fashion industry and were seen everywhere. The shoe completely stood out among the shoes of the year 2000 and was often mocked and ridiculed by bloggers and fashionistas.
Eventually, however, it managed to impress those masses and actually turned out to be a ‘popular’ shoe, coming out just before its time!
Today, Crocs are considered an athleisure favorite and have been rocked by some of the biggest superstars. The brand has also collaborated with well-known brands and superstars of the century, including Balenciaga, Christopher Cane, Bad Bunny, Post Malone and Justin Bieber.
Keep it up Crocs!
When to Wear Crocs
Crocs are so versatile, you can find a way to style them for any occasion, chic or not. Although most people wear them when going out for a quick coffee or running errands, Crocs can now be fully customized and styled in a variety of ways.
So there are many more options when deciding how to wear Crocs.
When you run some errands
When you’re running errands, wear Crocs in a base color, pair them with socks and sweatpants, and you’re good to go. The shoes are easy to slip on and perfect for quick, carefree trips to the grocery store.
when you go swimming
Since Crocs were originally designed as a boat shoe, they are perfect for water activities! The rubber material and the holes in the front of the shoe tend to dry quickly and are as comfortable as reliable rain boots.
When you are in the garden
After a hard day in the garden, Crocs are very easy to clean and leave no permanent marks. That’s why Crocs are an excellent choice the next time you decide to do gardening, mowing, or other lawn work.
When it’s raining cats and dogs
Crocs are your best friend when it’s pouring rain outside because they’re non-slip. Look out for the Crocs Lock™ logo when you’re looking for extra-slip Crocs for super-slippery surfaces.
If you want to get noticed
Crocs have recently improved their “fashionability” meters so you can wear them perfectly with trendy outfits. It’s a good idea to wear some flashy Crocs with some Jibbitz charms next time you’re going to a fancy event!

Fashion tips to avoid with Crocs
Figuring out how to wear Crocs shouldn’t be difficult. Here are the things to avoid when wearing a pair of these shoes:
Never wear a pair of patterned Crocs with a patterned outfit. The clashing of patterns is an absolute no-go and definitely a fashion faux pas. When wearing socks with your Crocs, opt for a color that is either present in your outfit or in your Crocs. For example, wearing a pair of green socks with a pink and blue outfit definitely doesn’t look stylish. With the Jibbitz Charms, less is more! Add a few Jibbitz charms to each shoe and avoid overdoing them. Avoid wearing crocs with flared pants as they will cover up the shoes and make your outfit look awkward. Stick to tight pants when wearing Crocs.
How to take care of Crocs
Knowing how to wear Crocs is one thing, caring for them is another. Luckily, Crocs are extremely easy to care for, which is why they are so popular.
Avoid heat or prolonged exposure to sunlight as prolonged exposure to heat, including washer dryers and hair dryers, can shrink the material.
The best way to clean a pair of Crocs is to soak them in a tub of hot water for some time and scrub off the dirt with a Magic Eraser.
Make sure to only use the Magic Eraser on the white parts of the shoe, as using it elsewhere may erase the color.
The best places to buy Crocs
The best place to buy a pair of Crocs is on their official website, especially within a few hours of a new collection being released. Later, you may also get good deals on sites like Amazon, Zappos, and Nordstrom.
If you’re looking to purchase a pair from any of the upcoming designer collaborations, be sure to visit their official designer websites along with the Crocs website. The designer collabs are super popular and sell out in minutes, so you’ve got to be quick.
If you’re looking for pairs from previous designer collaborations, you can try your luck on StockX, but there’s no guarantee you’ll find your size at the price you want.

Try pairing them with slim-fitting or boot-cut pants to show them off. If the weather is nice, wear shorts, a skirt, or a dress instead. Get the Look: How to Wear Clogs with Socks and Skinny Jeans
This time, however, the classic clog shape can be found on modern sandal, mule and boot designs. A good pair of clogs can be worn from season to season and dressed up or down. Neutral colors often offer the most versatility, while a pair of black clogs add a sophisticated touch. Neutral tones allow for a contemporary reinvention of a clog to make a statement, while choosing a lighter color can accentuate the classic shape.
To take the vintage-inspired look to the next level, Sandgrens has two styling tips for you to try with your favorite pair of clogs:
How to wear clogs with socks
Wearing clogs with socks can give you a new way to add interest to your outfit. This has become a popular way of wearing clogs among fashionistas and is a common way of styling the shoes among Europeans.
This look is ideal for warmer temperatures, but reliable in the changing seasons. In early fall, choose warmer socks in rich colors like deep orange or chocolate brown to pair with your clogs. Summer calls for a thinner, brighter duet with clogs, while a pair of bright socks will add a fresh touch to your favorite spring sundress.
How I Plan On Styling Clogs For Fall
I’ve been scouring all my go-to online stores for new fall pieces lately. I’m so ready for something new. And instead of just grabbing new boots, new sweaters and whatnot. I thought what about new clogs? A whole new trend that we haven’t seen in years. These ’70s-inspired shoes are chunky, cool and perfect for fall. There’s a clog to choose from in almost every store I’ve browsed lately! You know it’s trending for the season when there’s an official clog filter on almost every site I’ve visited. I have a feeling the last time these were in style was when I was in middle school. And here we are back at styling clogs.
But are you into her? What do we think of clogs for fall?
I have to say I like them but I hesitate to wear them. Lack of self-confidence maybe? I do not know. I’m not really an insecure person, but this trend makes me question myself for some reason. But fuck me I say own it. And I’ll keep saying it ’til I really feel like who I am. Because that’s how you become more confident, right? Right. So I’ll do it.
How I want to style clogs for fall
When I went to Pinterest to look for ways to style clogs, I discovered a few things. First, Pinterest suffers from super legacy content that’s still popular, making it difficult to find current looks. So I plan to change that by, of course, putting my own outfits on Pinterest. But the looks I found inspired me so much because they were often paired with the pants in my closet, which I find difficult to style outside of my usual Converse platform.

With wide leg pants
Both short and long. When it comes to cropped wide leg pants, I either wear a high heel or a platform Converse for fall. For some reason I never pair them with booties, but I think they go perfectly with clogs. They show the shoe, balance the outfit, love it! I’ll be wearing all my wide leg pants with clogs for fall. And all my traditional wide-leg flared jeans. This type of jeans always goes well with a nice chunky heel or boot and a clog is just meant to be worn with it. It’s 70’s perfection!
The kick crop jeans
As seen in today’s look, these affordable LOFT clogs are perfect with a kick clog. It’s a nod to the ’70s look and current cropped trend. My kick crop jeans have become my go-to pair of jeans of late, and adding a fun, chunky wooden clog is just what they need for fall.
dresses and skirts
Pair clogs with floral boho dresses for the ultimate ’70s-inspired look. Add a leather jacket or blazer to balance the whole outfit and add some structure. I’m definitely looking for good dresses and skirts for fall this year. I always wear my jeans and I’m determined to get out of my comfort zone.
mom jeans
The must-have jeans of the moment. Mom jeans are having a big moment. Whether you’re just going for a good pair of straight-leg jeans or a more relaxed vintage mom jean, literally ANY pair of jeans will work with clogs. They are such a good pairing. Light wash, dark wash, black denim and even white denim. They just work together no matter what.
Now let’s buy some clogs for fall
Personally, I prefer a clog with a heel for fall. I can skip the apartments, the Birkenstock Bostons, they’re not for me. I’m 100% into wooden shoes with heels. Choose leather or suede, a slingback or a mule. There are countless options. And honestly, the block heel mules have had a big moment in recent years and they still work here! Here’s an example of a wannabe clog that many of us have embraced over the past few years. But a clog is a little different and more traditional. They always consist of a solid piece of wood for the sole. They typically have a rounded toe and leather or suede uppers.
Best clogs for women under $100
To be honest, there aren’t many options for clogs under $100. I think the wood construction of the shoe makes them a bit more expensive. But below are some options I think are great. Honestly, Target’s are really impressive in person. They look like a $100 shoe and only cost $35. Since this is definitely a unique trend, I think trying it out in an affordable option is the best way to do a test run. I never like spending money on popular trends or things I’m not 100% sure I’m obsessed with yet. Try something in the $40 range and when you find that you love them and wear them tons, grab another nicer pair!
Designer clogs I love
Not all of these are “designers” and super expensive. But it was very clear that sub-$100 clogs are far and wide and rare. Lots of great options that are just over $100 like today’s LOFT clogs which are only $128 and are usually part of a promotion. But I’ll be honest. Target’s look just as good as my $128 LOFT. Personally, I’ve got my eye on Schutz super heels and Veronica Beard’s olive suede. They would be a big hassle for me, but you know what, I could just try. And finally, oddly enough, the ones with the cow print are on my wish list.
A few other notable brands to look at when it comes to clogs and clogs made right are Sweedish Hasbeens and Bryr. These are two highly recommended by Indigos!

Two Tone No Show Black Sock
Everything stays in place!
Review by Katrina on September 2, 2021
Rating that says everything stays in place!
I was looking for a no show sock that would stay over my heel and keep my foot secure in my clog while walking and these deliver! A grip strip on the heel of the sock keeps them from sliding down my foot, and they don’t let my foot slide around in my clog like other socks do. Will definitely buy more!
