My experience

I followed the directions and emptied all the tubes and sachets into a bowl because I was given the mini pack which is a single use pack. The first thing I noticed was that it didn’t smell like ammonia. I’ve tried other big brands and I’ve always noticed this strong ammonia smell, even in “non-ammonia” versions. I mixed the contents and made a smooth paste as directed on the packet. I asked my brother to put the paste on my hair as I can never do these things by myself 😄. Note that you never leave the paste open for long as it can change color in the bowl itself.

I left the paste on my hair for 30 minutes and not beyond because I didn’t want an all black hair color. I have brown hair tones that are only visible under natural light. I noticed some hair loss while washing. Maybe because of those chemicals. The very first thing I noticed after washing my hair was the shine and softness! I literally enjoyed the shine and how healthy my hair looked. But as you can see in the pics I shared I got more shade of black instead of brown. I was expecting the shade as shown in box. But it looks more like black to me. There were slight brown highlights that were only visible under natural light.

These At Home Hair Color boxes are only good for covering grays and light hair but not for a major makeover or maybe I picked the wrong shade. The color covered the light and dull hair and gave a noticeable shine and a healthy look, but not a huge change that you can see even in artificial light.

The shine and additional benefits such as softness will wash off after the next wash, but the color will still be there after 2-3 weeks.

The Chocolate Dark Brown shade was the only shade of brown that attracted me among all the shades and I wanted something like the one shown in the box. But I think the color reacts differently on different hairs. So mine was turned into a blackish tone but I loved the Shine and Lustourus locks.
