To act like the Joker, you must laugh like the Joker: exhale beforehand to sound hoarse, and laugh as long as you can. It helps to laugh hysterically at your own silly jokes, such as “I’m not mad at all! It’s just that I’m healthy differently!” Don’t take anything too seriously, even if you plot evil plans and pranks on your servants. After all, unpredictable behavior helps keep those around you on their toes. For some prank ideas and more joker mannerisms to try, read on!

Why does Harley Quinn wear red and blue?

As the Joker pulls her out of the green liquid, her hair and the acid turn red and blue. The two colors symbolize the bipolar nature of their relationship: a mix of love and hate, just like her aforementioned gun. Her skin is dyed alabaster to match the Joker.

Quick Answer: Since Harley Quinn’s inception in 1992, fans have had a steadfast eye on the clown car crash that portrays Quinn and the Joker’s troubled relationship. Recently, the infamous abusive relationship was carefully embodied in Harley Quinn’s ensemble cast. A visual examination of Harley’s getup – from her Property of the Joker jacket to her devotional tattoos – reveals how her style symbolizes the toxic relationship she shares with the Joker.

Harley Quinn, formerly known as Harleen Quinzel, sports a new look in Suicide Squad (2016) that’s clearly a fashion departure from the red-and-black spandex in which her animated personality usually wreaks havoc. But despite the fact that Harley no longer plays the role of a fool, she still does a good job playing the fool when it comes to her beloved Joker.

The Joker and Harley Quinn in Batman: The Animated Series

Mr. J sees his sweet little nut like a mirror in the playhouse; It’s something fun to watch, but not something to take seriously. For the clown prince, their relationship is just a big joke. Harley is nothing more than a pretty cog in his great design that he can use and abuse as he pleases.

Their love story is a clown car accident that has had people’s eyes glued to it since Quinn’s inception in 1992. Since then, fans have remained infatuated with the dysfunctional duo. Obviously there’s a little Harley in everyone. To this day, fans ride the duo’s ailing love cycle like a merry-go-round.

Margot Robbie as psychiatrist Harley Quinn and Jared Leto as Joker in Suicide Squad

Recently, the infamous abusive relationship was carefully embodied in Harley Quinn’s ensemble cast. The clown princess is Team Joker from head to toe. A visual examination of Harley’s getup reveals how her style perfectly symbolizes the toxic relationship she shares with the Joker.

Clothing & Accessories

In the film, the evil lover wears a choker that says “Puddin”. This is significant as it indicates that, much like the text on the back of her bomber jacket, she is “Property of the Joker”. The sense of belonging the Joker has towards Quinn is emphasized by the resemblance of her collar to a dog collar. Not only is she the Joker’s property, but her accessory confirms his role as her “master” and her as a loyal dog. She is literally Joker’s “bitch”.

When not with the Joker, Quinn wears her Property of the Joker jacket. That article of clothing might as well be a giant wedding ring, because the red and blue bomber jacket is letting people know she’s taken. The jacket stays on until she is reunited with her husband; Once the pair is back together, the Joker’s actual presence supersedes the jacket’s purpose. Her shirt has the same effect as her coat. The words “Daddy’s Lil Monster” written on her chest are just another way of saying her stuff belongs to her twisted boyfriend.

Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn

Referring to Quinn’s sequined shorts, the shimmering movement of colors embodies the see-saw nature of the duo’s relationship; sometimes they are up and sometimes they are down. Even Harley’s gun is emblematic of the defective couple. The words “Love” and “Hate” are written in white on opposite sides of the gun. The miniature firearm she wields is similarly representative of the mad clowns’ relationship as they use their love of destroying and killing.

Overall, the pieces of Quinn’s skimpy outfit come together to form a lovesick uniform. Her outfit makes it clear that she’s nothing more than the DC Devil’s Jack in the Box: something he takes out when he wants to play and tosses aside when he’s had enough.

hair

One of Quinn’s most distinctive physical attributes is her bouncy pigtails. Pigtails show that this supervillain still maintains a certain childlike innocence towards her. The same innocence is shown when Quinn blows bubble gum in Suicide Squad and Batman: The Animated Series (1992-1995). Harley’s hair comes in multiple colors to match their diverse personalities. Her hairdo is a sexy substitute for the more modest jester hat she rocks in comics. In Batman: The Animated Series, Mr. J pets her dunce cap. The subtle touches on her head make her hat look like floppy ears, which in turn reinforces the couple’s unhealthy pet/owner dynamic.

The Joker and Harley Quinn in a vat of toxic waste

The Joker also takes the term toxic relationship to another level when he has Harley dunked in a vat of deadly chemicals. As the Joker pulls her out of the green liquid, her hair and the acid turn red and blue. The two colors symbolize the bipolar nature of their relationship: a mix of love and hate, just like their aforementioned weapon. Her skin is alabaster colored to match the Joker. As a result, she looks like a modern-day Bride of Frankenstein, the perfect mate for her monstrous boyfriend.

tattoos

The ink on Harley marks her permanent obsession with the Joker. The tattooed heart on her face indicates that Harley values love. This becomes apparent during her fantasy of having a normal nuclear family with Mr. J. Unfortunately, her “Puddin” tattoo more accurately reflects her ruthlessness and violence, suggesting she’d rather live a life of reckless jeopardy than a playhouse. Furthermore, we can see their tattoos as more of a trademark than harmless tattoos; Her love for the Joker is literally burned into her body.

The words “Daddy’s Lil Monster” can not only be found on her shirt, but also tattooed on the left side of her chest. The location of the tattoos is no coincidence; The fact that the tattoo is right over her heart speaks to her devotion to the evil genius.

Harley Quinn with visible inverted tattoos

The tattoos on Quinn’s thigh read “Harley + Puddin”, “Puddin” and a heart with an arrow reading “Mr. J.” The fact that these tattoos are upside down serves as proof that Harley applied them himself.

The signature bundle of diamonds on her right arm and thigh show her connection to the Joker. The Joker’s forehead tattoo marks him as “damaged,” which pairs well with Harley’s “rotten” jaw tattoo. Their body art shows that as individuals they are both a bit muddled but somehow connected. Though dysfunctional and downright toxic, the couple’s love is appropriately twisted, ragged, and addictive.

How do you get Joker hair?

Keep your hair shoulder-length.

In the movie Joker, the Joker has medium length hair that sits just above his shoulders. If you have hair longer than that, cut it short so that it just hits the top of your shoulders. If you don’t want to cut your hair, you don’t have to.

Is Harley Quinn’s hair pink or red?

1 – Classic Harley Quinn Hair

The classic Harley Quinn hair look is black and red, mimicking that jester-look that she traditionally has in the comic books and stories. We love this classic look – a simple case of half red and half black, super striking and definitely not for the faint-hearted.

Amazon.com

We’ve seen Suicide Squad about a million times and are now totally obsessed with Harley Quinn, played in the film by Margot Robbie.

A few of the girls on our team have recreated the Harley Quinn hair ideas for themselves and have received nothing but compliments and if you want to create your very own take on Harley Quinn hair, how about checking out some of it for inspiration? We’re sure your Puddin would love them!

1 – Classic Harley Quinn hair

Harley Quinn’s classic hair look is black and red, mimicking the jester look she traditionally has in the comics and stories. We love this classic look – a simple half red half black shell, super eye-catching and definitely not for the faint of heart.

Instagram / @voodoobarbiedoll

Actually, the red and black harlequin look for the super villain in the nurse outfit in the game “Batman: Arkham Asylum” was abandoned in 2009.

2 – Blue and pink Harley Quinn hair

If you don’t know the story of Harley Quinn, here it is in a nutshell – she is a psychiatrist and has started to analyze the Joker. In typical fairy tale fashion, boy and girl fall in love and the boy drives the girl crazy. (Don’t they all?) She loses her role as Harleen Quinzel and becomes Harley Quinn – the clown princess of crime.

Instagram / @hair.by.ashmichelle

Margot Robbie brought the vivacious babe to life in the blue and pink fashions we’ve come to expect them from these days.

3 – Blue and pink Harley Quinn hair

Harley Quinn is best friends with Poison Ivy and once she saved her life she also injected her with something that makes HQ immune to toxins and poisons.

Instagram / @bestecig

We’re sure Poison Ivy would have definitely approved of this Harley Quinn hair choice – had and half pink and blue, very similar to the blue and pink we’ve seen before but with the entire head of hair and not just the ends.

4 – Pastel Harley Quinn hair

There are so many options when it comes to Harley Quinn hair that there is bound to be one that suits you. If you wanted more pastels than the lighter and bolder colors we’ve already revealed, how about this pink and blue pastel Harley Quinn hair look instead?

Instagram / @imagewesthair

Of course, we also live the braid look 100% here – it’s very trendy right now. If Harley Quinn wore pigtails, we definitely think she would rock them like this.

Want to recreate this stunning Harley Quinn hair look? Check out the video below. Have fun!

5 – Light Harley Quinn hair

This Harley Quinn hair is so easy to do at home and some of the guys on our team actually tried this look themselves. Simply separate your hair into ponytails, making sure you have a straight line at the back of your head, and dye one half blue and one half pink.

Instagram / @hairby_brittni

There are a number of hair dyes we’d love to recommend (which we’ve used here at CherryCherryBeauty) and if you read on you’ll find our particular favorites to use and play with.

6 – Faded Harley Quinn hair

Believe it or not, Harley Quinn should have made her screen debut, but because the 1997 film Batman and Robin flopped, the film’s sequel flopped, and so did HQ’s character.

Instagram / @vividlovehairdesign

This hair is definitely not a flop and the two sides show you two different ways to wear it – the right side is freshly colored and looks amazing, but the left side has been heavily washed and faded but still looks perfect Harley – Quinn-able.

7 – Half-Half Harley Quinn Hair

It’s actually impossible to part your hair into this 50/50 split. When we had this hair, our pink was always in our blue and vice versa. Dyeing your hair again in the same colors can sometimes be a nightmare.

Instagram / @kimblebee666

Depending on the dye, you may need to wash your hair separately for the first few washes. This is to ensure the colors don’t bleed – this creates a purple instead of the distinct blue and pink.

8 – Blonde Harley Quinn Hair

Harley Quinn’s relationship with Joker is one of ups and downs. At points in their story, he even tried to kill her. Aren’t all relationships a very fine line between love and hate…

Instagram / @nayyfirens

However, I can tell you one thing that we definitely don’t hate – this hair. We’re sure the Joker would have loved it! And you?

Oh, and here’s one last tip for basic Harley Quinn hair – if you’re going to fade this look, use a silver shampoo and conditioner set. It gives your brassy bleach blonde hair a gorgeous silvery/white blonde look and as your pinks and blues fade they will do so in a powdery pastel colored nature which will keep your hair looking amazing for longer.

9 – Cosplay Harley Quinn hair

If you want a look that really stands out, you could do a lot worse than this red and black Harley Quinn hair. The good thing about these Harley Quinn hair ideas is that they can be completely customized to suit you.

10 – Short Harley Quinn Hair

And just when you thought you had to buy hair extensions online to get the Harley Quinn hair look you really want, here’s a super cute look that proves you don’t need long locks at all.

Instagram / @audreyb182

The pink and blue dip-dye has been cleverly created on this short hair, laying the colors down a bit while still allowing enough of the blonde above to show through. For those days when you just don’t feel like extensions, rock your hair short and colorful!

11 – Straight Harley Quinn Hair

We know Harley Quinn wears her hair curly in the movie (because we’ve watched each trailer a million times), but there’s something about this super-straight Harley Quinn that we kind of love. One thing we learned from trying this look for ourselves at home was that you have two choices when it comes to blue and pink…

Instagram / @melsmithhairstylist

You either have to make sure you have exactly the same amount of pink and blue on each side, or layer it so that the color rises higher in sections than other sections. A little uneven as you can see here. We tried to go super straight and even on both sides the first time and it proved really difficult at home. There were stains and color in places that shouldn’t have been and the color faded a bit the first few times we washed them.

I would recommend going for the uneven look! It is much easier! (Plus it looks better!)

12 – Brunette Harley Quinn hair

There’s something very pretty about this look, a way of rocking the Harley Quinn hair trend without making things too obvious…or permanent for that matter. If you have darker or brunette hair and don’t feel like white-blonde and punky pinks and blues, leave your natural hair as the background and go for mixed pastel-colored hair chalks instead.

Discovered on Pinterest

Hair chalks are a great way to temporarily refresh your hair, and you can also wash them out when you’re done. Perfect for when you want to be the super villain Harley Quinn for the weekend before switching back to Harleen Quinzel mode on Monday morning in time for work!

13 – Harley Quinn hair braid

The braid look is so very Harley Quinn, made super cute once again by the adorable Margot Robbie. We love the way these pink and blue locks have been added to a silvery blonde rather than a white blonde, and purple shampoo can help you get that icy silver hue.

Instagram / @guy_tang

If you weren’t born with luscious long locks like this one (because most of us definitely weren’t), don’t worry – you can easily fake it with hair extensions, and you can even use adorable ribbons to cover your hair Bands too – another trick that we like to use regularly. There’s something super cute about hair bands, don’t you think?

14 – Gorgeous Harley Quinn hair

This is a look that really stands out, and it’s certainly not for the faint of heart. With Harley Quinn hair that looks like this, you need to be aware of the care required. If you want to keep your hair bright and strong for as long as possible, you need to learn to wash your hair less often. You can try refreshing your color by adding some of the hair color to your shampoo and conditioner, but with half and half hair like this, it can be a lot of hard work. In that case, trust us… we’ve tried.

Discovered on Pinterest

With a full hair color like this, you will need to re-dye your hair every few weeks, and in some cases (depending on the color used) maybe even more often. It will fade to a powderier, pastel version of itself, especially if you use purple shampoo (like we do), but if you want more shine than pastel, regular touch-ups are inevitable.

15 – Black and Red Harley Quinn Hair

We’ve done a lot of blue and pink, but for those of you who still love HQ’s black and red version, we recommend this Harley Quinn hair look—still blonde but instead of the blue and pink dip-dye -Ends, black and red were used instead.

Discovered on Pinterest

Black is a pretty sharp contrast to blonde, so you need to be prepared for this style. If you want to go permanent or even semi-permanent, going from black to blonde/a lighter color is really hard work. The red also turns brassy orange as it fades. It’s a look that requires a decent amount of maintenance, that’s all we’re saying.

16 – Subtle Harley Quinn hair

And for a look that’s definitely more subtle than most of the Harley Quinn hair ideas we’ve shown you, this lilac, pink, and blue beauty is perfect—subtle pastels and so pretty, we can’t wait to try her to get yourself.

Discovered on Pinterest

It’s not as obvious as the rest of the looks we’ve shown you, and it’s easily done with both hair chalk and hairspray temporary dyes, as well as these wash-in and wash-out/semi-perm dyes replica that you can buy The shelves. We think it’s super nice!

17 – Natural Harley Quinn Hair

Another look that keeps things a little natural, or as natural as possible when impersonating a super villain, is this natural and dip-dyed Harley Quinn hair look. Most of the hair has been left natural and the ends can be colored in a variety of ways.

Discovered on Pinterest

You can either bleach the ends before dying them with the contrasting pinkish red and blue shades. This is the hardest method, but the most permanent. The bleached ends also mean you can play around with the color a bit – change it for something else if you get bored of the Harley Quinn hair look.

Alternatively, you can also use hair chalks and hairspray color to achieve this look, which works perfectly if you only want it for one night – maybe a costume party?

18 – Bleaching blonde Harley Quinn hair

And another beautiful look with the red and black Harley Quinn design, the bleach blonde braids with the dip dyed black and red ends. It’s a simple look, but one that really stands out, and again, think twice before going for it permanently. It will require its fair share of maintenance.

Discovered on Pinterest

You can easily achieve this look yourself, even with a variety of colors, if red and black or Harley Quinn hair aren’t your thing. Simply part your hair in two and make sure the line at the back is relatively straight or as straight as you can get. Use a mirror held behind you to check the reflection in the mirror in front of you. We do anyway.

Braid/braid your hair until you have enough looseness at the ends that you want to dye it. Use a ribbon to tie the ends together and the loose and drooping hair is the section you color.

You can use a hair brush if you like, but we like to use our fingers to get right into the hair, especially when you get close to the hair tie – a brush doesn’t reach the mid-sections of the top of open hair.

There are many tutorials on Youtube – we definitely recommend you to take a look! That’s how we learned to achieve this look ourselves, and we did it too with a wide range of colors and shades!

So there you have it – 18 amazing Harley Quinn hair ideas if you fancy being a little super villain for a while. It’s fun to dress up and it’s even more fun when you can dye your hair too! Which of these looks is your favorite? And if you copy them, come back and let us know – tag us on social media with #CherryCherryBeauty.

We can’t wait to see what you come up with!

Why does the Joker wear gloves?

They sell them at every costume store. Again, we suggest you don’t skip the gloves. They make it so much easier to work, trick-or-treat or eat while wearing the costume. You don’t get a good look at the Joker’s shoes while he’s wearing this outfit, so you have some leeway there.

Amazon.com

If you’re a Batman or Joker fanatic, chances are you’ve been eyeing the just-released BATMAN: DEATH OF THE FAMILY BOOK AND JOKER MASK SET. Available now in stores, it includes a copy of Batman Vol. 3: Death of the Family, the acclaimed story that reintroduced the Joker into The New 52 and sent shockwaves through the entire Batman book family. But of course that’s not all. It also comes with a mask modeled after the severed face of the Joker in the book.

This is great for scaring your kids or little sister. Seriously, if you ever need them to leave you alone for a while, just put that bad boy on. They won’t come near you.

But that’s just the beginning of what you can do with the Joker mask. With Halloween only a few weeks away, you could use the mask as a starting point for a full Joker costume. It’s not quite as hard as it looks. It’s just a matter of putting the right items together. Even better, you have two options to choose from.

OPTION 1: JOE’S GARAGE

We should start by saying that if you’re expecting a cosplay tutorial, you’ll probably be disappointed. We love cosplayers, but unfortunately we’re not that good at it ourselves. Rather, we’re just going to lay out everything you need to put together a solid Joker Halloween costume. We doubt you’ll take home any prizes at Comic-Con Masquerade, but you can win your office costume contest.

The Joe’s Garage option is actually pretty simple and straightforward, and you might already have some of the components lying around your house. Here’s what you need to assemble this costume.

Navy blue mechanic’s overalls or overalls

If you’ve ever been to a mechanic, you’ve seen these things. The good news is that they’re very easy to find online and fairly affordable, although you might want to search for both “overalls” and “boiler suit.” The overall results are likely to be supplied from the UK, the overall results from the US. You’ll find pricier options, but you should be able to get a good pair of jumpsuits for under $30.

tool belt

This could be the most expensive item if you have to buy it new. Our suggestion – go cheap. They use this for a costume. Not for actual work. You can find some variations of tool belts for under $25. They won’t look like the ones in the comic, but they’ll be close enough. If you insist on authenticity, we recommend borrowing a tool belt or seeing if you can buy a used one. That’s a leather belt worn by the Joker in the comic, and leather doesn’t come cheap.

Tool

For the belt. We assume you have some of these at home. If not, then borrow again.

work shoes

Again, chances are you have something that will work at home.

gloves

Just your standard work gloves. Hopefully you have some of these at home, but if not, they’re not too expensive. The gloves are actually an important part of this costume because if you include them you don’t have to wear makeup on your hands which makes the costume much easier to wear.

more details

The mask actually contains hair. While we don’t think you’ll need hair dye, Halloween spray paint is pretty cheap and can help with the ‘touch up’. Consider it optional. However, you will need good quality white paste makeup, which you can find online or at any costume store. If you really want to go chic, we recommend starting with a green undertone and then wearing the white on top. Finally, look for makeup setter spray cans. You should use it to prevent the makeup from rubbing off.

The good news is that you don’t need too much makeup with this setup, especially if you get long-sleeved jumpsuits and wear them with the sleeves rolled down. The Joker doesn’t wear them that way, however, so decide if you prefer ease over accuracy.

Finally, if you’ve read Death of the Family, you know the Joker wears a name patch that reads “Joe” above his left lapel. If you have easy access to something like this, do it. If not, we think just jotting it down with a black marker is good enough for Halloween.

OPTION #2: DRESSED TO KILL

This is much closer to the traditional Joker look that fans are familiar with. However, in Death of the Family, the Joker really only wears it for the final showdown. This will be more of a challenge putting it together, but has the added benefit of being more recognizable for casual fans, and could also serve as the basis for a standard Joker costume (without the mask).

Here’s what you need for this costume.

Purple suit

That’s the toughie. You won’t find brightly colored suits at your local menswear store. But you can find them online. They’re not cheap, but that’s definitely an option. You can also check thrift stores. Sometimes you’re lucky. Perhaps a better option is a vintage clothing store if you have access to one. They’re not as cheap as a thrift store, but probably cheaper than buying a new suit online.

Just in case you were wondering, the Joker’s pants are purple in the comic. We can’t blame you for thinking they were black based on the image above.

Black shirt

Nothing too extraordinary here. Perhaps you already own one? If not, they’re easy to find.

Black vest

To be honest, you can probably skip this article, but the Joker wears a black vest as part of this getup. If you want to include it, you should be able to find some pretty affordable options online.

Green tie

This costume is actually a bit simpler than the traditional Joker outfit as the tie here is just a standard tie. You just have to find one in green (which admittedly isn’t the most popular color).

Blue carnation

It’s a bit hard to tell, but the Joker’s carnation is blue. You have a few options here. You can look for real blue carnations, you can visit a craft store and buy a fake blue carnation, or you can buy a white carnation and dye it blue with food coloring. This last option may be the best choice if you want to get the perfect color.

Black handkerchief

Another element you could probably skip in a pinch, but the Joker carries a black handkerchief in his left lapel pocket.

White gloves

While we’re sure the gloves worn by the Joker in the comic are probably pretty fancy, you should be able to just buy white cotton gloves. They sell them at every costume store. Again, we suggest you don’t skip the gloves. They make it so much easier to work, trick or treat, or eat while wearing the costume.

more details

You can’t see the Joker’s shoes very well while he’s wearing this outfit, so you have some leeway there. We recommend a pair of black dress shoes. You’ll also need some white makeup to complete the full look, but probably a lot less than with the Joe’s Garage costume. Read what we said about makeup for this one and apply it here.

Finally, you’ve probably noticed that the Joker wears a jester-themed tie clip as part of his suit. This is obviously a specialty item that you cannot find in stores. While smart people will no doubt find a way to make their own, you can always mimic a really simple one out of white poster board with some markers, or just skip it.

Those are the basics, but of course you are free to add to and modify these costumes as you see fit. You can also use the mask to create a Joker’s Daughter costume. Or maybe come up with a whole new look for the Joker. After all, we’re pretty sure this isn’t the last we’ll see of him, and you never know what he’ll be wearing when he shows up…

What color is Joker’s vest?

1. The Suit. The first thing you may notice about the new Joker is that his signature purple suit is amiss. Instead, the maniacal DC villain sports a crimson two-piece with a gold waistcoat and sea-green buttondown.

Amazon.com

OK, gentlemen. Halloween is fast approaching and it’s time to get your costume in order. You could keep it simple with a Jason Voorhees mask or a Freddie Krueger sweater, but we think you should take it seriously. Why so serious? Because there’s one hair-raising character ripe for imitation: the storied anti-hero from Todd Phillips’ 2019 film Joker.

Joaquin Phoenix’s portrayal of failed comedian Arthur Fleck (aka the Joker) has already been acclaimed for its nuance and grim grace. The famous character has been completely reimagined, and while you may have seen depictions of the villain at Halloween parties in the past – the Jared Leto, Jack Nicholson, or Heath Ledger version – this is a whole new aesthetic. The costume is equal parts spooky, easy to achieve, and totally on trend. Below, we’ll walk you through the step-by-step process of becoming the scariest joker of the year.

1. The suit

The first thing you’ll notice about the new Joker is that his signature purple suit is off-key. Instead, the insane DC villain wears a crimson two-piece suit with a gold vest and teal buttondown. We’re not mad about it either – there’s nothing like a bright red suit to make you stand out at a party.

If you want to stay as close as possible to the Joaquin Phoenix outfit – which was made to measure and then distressed to look lived in – StudioSuits offers an excellent replica that can be customized and tailored to your needs. The suit ($220) is made from premium red tweed fabric and can be paired with a gold waistcoat ($60) and coral green shirt ($45).

Alternatively, for a more sophisticated approach, indulge in Dolce & Gabanna’s classic two-piece suit in rich burgundy ($2,695) or this sleek red Brioni suit currently available at Saks Fifth Avenue ($1,499). Go for a subtle green shirt, like this tailored Prada number ($540) or this green cotton dinner shirt from Boglioli ($248). Then finish with a beige vest from Tagliatore ($203) or this corduroy vest from Stefano Ricci ($950) for a bit of texture.

2. The shoes

Footwear-wise, the 2019 Joker sports some well-worn, two-tone, lace-up Oxfords. We recommend investing in these Tom Ford Dress Shoes ($1,890) with brogue details. They have a slight ombré effect – not as dramatic as the Joker’s treads – and are made from super-soft calf leather. Not only are they incredibly fashionable, but they will accompany you for a lifetime.

3. The face

There are two ways to “put on a happy face” – as the Joker says. First, you can test your DIY makeup skills and try the look at home. The good thing about the Joker’s tousled clown makeup is that it’s pretty indulgent. You don’t have to make sure you’re super groomed or that your eyebrows are exactly the same height. If it’s a little messy, roll with it.

We recommend getting this Ben Nye color palette ($80) — it’s got the blues, blacks, whites, and reds you need — and this Clown White Makeup ($3.50) if you want a little more need white for your base coat. For those of you who don’t know, Ben Nye is a leading special effects makeup artist and (unofficially) goth-certified — that ghostly white complexion stays put all night no matter how hard you dance. You’ll also need two makeup brushes, a small precision tip ($24), and a large concealer brush ($36). When it’s time to launch the application, you can watch this YouTube tutorial (below) or follow our written guide.

First, paint your whole face white with the large concealer brush. Try to lighten the spots that you will color later (the triangles above and below the eyes, the eyebrows, the nose and the lips). Then take a cue tip and wipe off excess white paint from these soon to be colored areas. As a result, color and white are not mixed and diluted – you get a richer red and blue. Next, grab the small brush and add blue triangles to the top and bottom of your eyes. You’ll notice that the Joker’s triangles aren’t exactly symmetrical and are reminiscent of blurry teardrops, so have some fun with your shapes. You can practice on a piece of paper first until you’re ready to tackle your face. Rinse the small brush and move to the red dots. Start with the eyebrows, they don’t have to be mirror images either. In fact, it adds to your troubling behavior when it doesn’t. Finish by painting your red nose and that menacing grin. When it comes to lips, we think bigger is better.

If all this sounds too difficult for you, leave it to the professionals. Stella Sensel in New York specializes in special effects makeup and charges between $150 and $250 for a full face, while Lisa Marie in LA charges $300. Of course there are many talented artists out there; Do your research and book quickly.

4. The hair

Reaching the Joker’s broccoli mop is pretty easy. Grab a tub of Good Dye Young’s Poser Paste Temporary Hair Makeup ($18) in Kowabunga Green and lather generously. Too lazy? Go to your trusted barber or salon and ask them to dye your hair green – temporarily, of course. Alternatively, you can buy a Joker wig on eBay for around $35 each.

If you haven’t seen the 2019 masterpiece yet, nail your quirks by watching the trailer below. Happy Halloween!

How to dress like the Joker from Dark Knight

Hair & Makeup:

The Joker in the Dark Knight is one of the scariest portrayals of the infamous clown prince. He’s notable for his long, greasy green hair and messy clown makeup. He has long blond hair that he dyes green. It is unkempt in depicting its chaotic nature.

The Joker has a smile-shaped scar that stretches from cheek to cheek. We never fully learn how he got that disturbing scar, as he tells various stories about its origin. But he makes the most of it by covering his face with smeared clown makeup.

One of the best things about this version of the Joker costume is that it’s pretty easy to get the right look, but it always looks amazing. We recommend growing your hair out to a reasonable length and using some temporary green hair dye to bring the joker hairstyle down. To be as authentic as possible, don’t wash it a few days before your cosplay event. If you can’t grow your hair out in time, a good quality wig will do.

Now for the fun part… The Joker’s makeup is relatively simple. Only three colors of face paint are needed: white, black, and red. Start with white face paint and cover most of your face. You can be a little sloppy to get that grungy look. Leave space around your eyes and around your mouth. Now apply some black face paint around the eyes.

This last part can be a little tricky. Use some fake scar makeup to recreate the Joker’s cheek scars. Let them dry in place. Once dry, use the red face paint to cover them up like Heath Ledger’s Joker does in the movie. For a good guide, check out the makeup tutorial below.

Joker suit: How to dress like a Supervillain

There’s no denying that “Joker” is one of the hottest movies of 2019. Aside from some brilliant actors, the Joker suit is one of the most talked about aspects of the film.

It was released on October 4, 2019 and stars Oscar-winning actor Joaquin Phoenix as the DC Comics character The Joker. While other films have featured the Joker in the past, including The Dark Knight and Suicide Squad, critics have hailed the role of Phoenix as one of the best, if not the best, iteration of the legendary criminal mastermind.

If you’re a die-hard fan of the 2019 movie Joker, you’ll be happy to know that you can now dress like Phoenix by wearing a Joker suit.

What kind of suit does Phoenix wear in Joker?

In “Joker,” Phoenix doesn’t wear a standard black or gray suit, nor does he wear the signature purple Joker suit that we’ve all seen in the Batman movies over the years. An unstable criminal with a dark history, the Joker has a unique fashion sense. What suit is the Joker wearing?

Phoenix’s suit in the blockbuster film consists of a red jacket with matching trousers, a yellow or gold waistcoat and a green button-down shirt.

As shown in the image below, it’s a truly new, unique look not found in any other DC Comics film, show, or media.

Who designed the Joker suit?

So who was responsible for designing Phoenix’s bright and bold outfit for “Joker”? The outfit was designed by professional costume artist Mark Bridges, also known for his costume designs on Inherent Vice and Jason Bourne. With a lot of experience in the film industry, Bridges managed to deliver a new and unforgettable Joker outfit and look.

So why is Joker’s suit red?

Speaking about Phoenix’s Joker suit, Bridges explained that it reflected Arthur Fleck’s background. Fleck, of course, is the fictional character in the DC Comics universe who becomes the Joker. He grew up in the 1980s when bright and bold colors were all the rage. While many people still wear bright and bold colors today, they were particularly popular in the 1980s.

As a result, Bridges designed the Joker suit, featuring a red jacket with matching red pants, as well as a yellow waistcoat. It’s a bold, colorful combination that’s symbolic of the 1980s.

And the rest of the outfit?

To further complete Phoenix’s look, Bridges chose a green button-up shirt to be worn under the waistcoat. In Bridge’s own words, the intention here was to make the Joker look authentic. What would a person wear if they were Arthur Fleck? Certainly not a classic shirt, right? After combing through various combinations, Bridges found that green naturally complemented red and yellow and contributed to the idea of a colorful Joker outfit.

This prompted Bridges to include a green button-up shirt in Phoenix’s Joker outfit. Worn under the yellow waistcoat, it was a perfect choice. Phoenix’s outfit looks amazing while maintaining a real 1980s vibe.

How to buy a Joker suit

Now that you know a little about the history behind the suit Phoenix wore while filming “Joker,” you might be wondering how you can get your hands on a Joker suit yourself. Most brick-and-mortar suit stores don’t sell movie-inspired outfits like this, and there’s little hope of finding a Joker suit in a mall.

So what are your options? You can always try to create your own Joker suit from a variety of shops and Joker color clothing you may already have, but why bother when you can order the complete outfit from StudioSuits?

The Joker 2019 Joaquin Phoenix Movie Suit consists of the same three-piece suit worn by Phoenix in “Joker”. It features a red tweed suit jacket with matching trousers and a yellow tweed waistcoat. The suit jacket itself has peaked lapels, reflecting the same style Phoenix wears in the film. It also has three cufflinks for a truly joker-like look that can’t be mistaken.

How and when do you cosplay the Joker?

There’s no better time to wear the Joker suit than Halloween. It’s a day when millions of people dress up to trick or treat or socialize at costume parties. Instead of wearing a generic costume that few or no one will recognize, you can make a bold statement with a Joker suit.

With a Joker Halloween costume, you’ll stand out – in a good way, of course. Whether you’re going to a themed party, a costume party, or just want to dress up for the occasion, you can’t go wrong with a Joker suit this Halloween.

Of course, you don’t have to limit yourself to just wearing your Joker suit on Halloween. It’s perfectly fine to wear it at other times of the year. In fact, any costume party is the perfect occasion to slip into your Joker suit. Being one of the most iconic villains in the DC Comics universe, people will instantly recognize you as the Joker.

Don’t forget the makeup

For the most authentic portrayal of Phoenix’s captivating supervillain character, be sure to wear makeup with your Joker suit when choosing the best Joker costume. In “Joker”, Phoenix wears a clown-like makeup composed of the colors white, red, and blue. Phoenix wears white makeup on most of his face, with red accent makeup around his mouth and above his eyebrows. He also wears a small amount of blue makeup just above and below his eyes.

If you need help to achieve a similar look with your makeup, see the image above. It may take a little trial and error to get it right, but you can’t expect to look like the Joker without sporting his signature facial makeup. Even if you don’t get it right, don’t worry. After all, it’s the Joker you’re cosplaying, so messy and wild is inherent in his character.

Wear the green shirt

Your Joker suit also includes the matching shirt. While it may be tempting to opt for a shirt of a different color, without the green shirt you cannot recreate the Joker’s true looks. When his alter ego appeared in the 2019 blockbuster Joker, Fleck always wore the green shirt under the yellow vest.

what about the hair

If you are planning to go to a cosplay event or costume party, you can add the finishing touches to your green hair Joker costume. Since you probably don’t want to permanently dye your hair green, you can either choose a green wig (or paint each wig green) or use a hair dye spray as these are temporary and the color can be washed off easily.

Finally

Upon its release in 2019, “Joker” topped the box office charts, despite many mixed reviews. The film offers a fresh, if dark, take on one of the most iconic supervillains in the DC Comics universe, and arguably the best backstory of any DC villain.

Obviously, the Joker suit and the rest of the outfit and makeup played an important role in portraying the dark and twisted character played by Phoenix.

If you like cosplay and costumes, or just love Joker’s outfit, you can now sport the same look as Joaquin Phoenix’s Joker by investing in a Joker suit from StudioSuits. Pair it with a green button down shirt and the right makeup, and you’ll be ready to rock the instantly recognizable look anywhere.

Why Harley Quinn’s Suicide Squad Costume Makes No Sense

Harley Quinn has become one of DC’s most recognizable characters. She joined the comics after her first appearance in Batman: The Animated Series, eventually making her big screen debut in 2016’s Suicide Squad, where she was played by Margot Robbie, who reprises the role to this day.

In this film, Harley is joined by a group of other villains, including Deadshot (Will Smith) and El Diablo (Jay Hernandez), put together by US Intelligence Officer Amanda Waller (Viola Davis). Waller gathers the strange and villainous group because they need help fighting the Sorceress (Cara Delevingne) – who poses a threat to the world – and signs an agreement with the criminals that their prison sentences will be reduced if they agree to to help. Harley agrees to the mission largely under the delusional assumption that her beloved Joker will eventually rescue her from Waller’s clutches (which he does by the end of the film), but she actually becomes a key figure in defeating the Sorceress.

Harley Quinn wasn’t the only iconic DC character to make his screen debut in Suicide Squad, and the film made many divisive decisions when it came to adapting its many villains. These customization challenges included the costumes the actors wore: after all, trying to stay true to the source material while also creating a fresh and exciting look can be a difficult balance.

However, Harley’s costume was arguably the most controversial outfit. On the one hand, it was the most-googled Halloween costume of 2016 (per Mode), but on the other hand, the outfit drew a lot of criticism, even from Robbie himself (per Cinema Blend). Criticism aside, Harley’s costume raises some eyebrows in terms of practicality.
