It’s one of the most anticipated Air Jordan retros of the year. Originally released in 1993, the Aqua Air Jordan 8 has only been seen once since its original launch when it was retroed in 2007. This week the sneaker comes back in a “remastered” form. Is this latest version really closer to the original? We got a pair of all three and compared them side by side.
Tongue
The ring around the logo on the tongue was originally gold thread. It was made yellow in 2007 but looks spot on in the latest version.
toe box
Yes, this original pair is signed by Michael Jordan. Note the lining above the toe box, though. The lining of the OG version was gray while the next version had a darker shade. Also note the width of the neoprene under the laces.

Similar to the gray lace overlay on the toe box, the heel counter matches the colorway. From the back corner, you’ll also notice that the original’s tag was placed on the tongue of the 1993 version, rather than on the inside collar like on the newer retros.
