Starts with FMC’s car getting stuck in the rain mud. She sets out to get help, eventually ending up in a mansion cabin with five hockey players. A wet dream? Should be, but it’s soooooo fluffy I can’t even get excited about it, but there’s potential, so I keep pushing beyond the awful.

^^^ The author takes page after page for the FMC to explain how to get stuck in the mud. Good enough. But after telling her story to the hockey players, the author retells it for the cook… and then again for her friends on the phone…. Adding a narration about trying to detach the car.
^^^ I can’t stand reading the same thing over and over again. Also, we get the FMC to repeat everything they know and think about each of the hockey players. I would expect an experienced writer like this not to fall into such a tempo trap.
This theme is “Once is not enough” and the plot is stuck in the mud as is the car.
I’m bored to death and haven’t even made it to the 20% mark yet.
Well, I’ve read some silly like bark characters before, but I don’t think I’ve ever met a book character who didn’t understand that a damn car weighs MORE than 350 pounds. Homegirl FMC has brain cell stones first.
As the story progresses, it levels out and becomes less repetitive. The characters catch their groove and become likeable.
THE GREAT……
jenga! I loved the unusual meeting. This scene made up for all the boring, reparative BS that preceded it. Write perfection of fear, honesty, vulnerability, seduction, sexiness. All games were cute but Jenga was the best.
This is because more than 70% of the book takes place in just a few days. But every day is something new and pushes the MCs and their romance forward step by step. The author does a fantastic job of building characters and relationships so you can feel the emo connection slowly coming together. Although it was only a few days, the sexual anxiety here again made me feel like this was a much longer time frame.
That he was courting her was sweet, perfect. Gentleman with a downside to bedroom alpha. She’s sweetly innocent and sexually and physically insecure, but not so much that it’s obnoxious. When they get together, everything falls into place.
The secondary characters are interesting, helpful to the story, and play active roles, but the author keeps their presence and time exactly as it should be…. Useful without being intrusive. Every MC has really great friendships.
The plot is very similar. There’s the main storyline of the MCs building a relationship, but several subplots – an ex, head trauma, her mother and the trophy, etc. ensure the story never feels flat or one dimensional.
^^^ So I would say that this author’s strongest skill is balancing all the elements of the story so that they work together – like the best cake…. Not too sweet or rich, not too dry or soggy, not too much icing ratio to the cake. It’s spot on. The weakest point would be the overlapping of the same scene/action being retold at scene changes. <<< Unnecessary! A good editor could sort that out so it doesn't affect the pacing of the story. A few laughs. The best man here debates me smiling, and I rarely smile at text conversations in books. The slapstick comedy scene in the clown getaway car was my favorite. Cleverly written 😉 This author does not follow a standard formula. Sure, there are two plot points that stand a million-to-one odds: the MC connection to FMC's past and the grocery store scene. That said, almost everything else is original as it plays out. PLOT HOLES I only found one. She says she retreats to her room to plan the trophy heist. MMC enters her room and, with papers and pen on her bed, appears to be doing just that - planning. But when they actually pick up the trophy, she says she never planned how she was going to do it. "I want to go through an action plan and make sure that..." The next day… "Do you have a plan of action?" …. " "I see. I haven't really thought about it." Nothing major, but I always like to point this out to writers. END After the long reconciliation game, I would have wished for a slightly longer HEA and a concluding sex scene. The timing should extend to the hockey season and not just TELL the plan for it. More on his injury healing. More closure as Josh fits in. TOTAL When I read the first 20-25% I really thought this was a DNF because the beginning is retold. I'm glad I stuck it out to meet these characters. Some of the greatest supporting characters of all time and I hope they get their own stories!!! A little humor, a little sexy, lots of smiles, some angst and suspense, multi-dimensional plot, great storytelling (aside from the complaint mentioned above) and a satisfying ending that left me wanting more. For the niche of sports romance 4 stars. With processing in the first quarter and more closure in the last 5-10% I would have given it a 5.

Just when I’m thinking Meghan Quinn couldn’t possibly give me another book pal to love, she gives me Pacey! This book has everything I love about Quinn’s books – fantastic characters, amazing laugh-out-loud quips, and a book lover who conveys all the feelings.
I don’t know how she keeps writing such fresh, amazing stories, but she does and I love it.
Kiss and Don’t Tell launches a brand new series featuring a cast of ice hockey players.
I loved the Brentwood Boys series so much that to say I had high hopes for this one would be an understatement. Well, let me just say that Quinn surpassed them and I know I’m going to love those hockey boys as much as their baseball boys. Fact.
If you write as many sports romance books (or romance novels in general) as Quinn does, you’d think things would get a little boring over time, but that’s not the case with this book.
This book has its hilarious banter between characters I’ve come to love so much, yet felt like something new and fresh.
In this story we meet Winnie Berlin who goes on a road trip to find herself, only to find herself in a ditch during a thunderstorm. Oh how I would love to be in Winnie’s shoes when she stumbles upon a booth of five HOT professional hockey players where she braves the weather. Happy happy girl.
I loved Winnie because she just came across as this real young woman who was having a hard time and is still trying to pick herself up and find direction. I love how she slowly reveals her true personality once she’s comfortable with Pacey. She’s sassy and funny and has some crazy best friends in her corner.
Pacey is truly one of a kind and I loved him from the start. He’s sweet, considerate, kind, and commanding at the right times (if you get what I mean).
Given the dates they went on and the time they spent getting to know each other, there was just the right amount of story movement to believe the bond they forged in a few short days.
Pacey’s teammates were the best companions in this story. Although they are teammates, they are also a great group of friends that are more like brothers. They all have their own quirks and storylines that I can see coming and I loved all of them.
Their banter alone during their “action plan making” was hilarious and made me want more moments of theirs together.
I can’t wait for her to write the stories for the rest of the hockey boys, but in the meantime I highly recommend reading these!
