Did you know that over 70% of the global lash industry uses a portable massage table as their lash bed?
There are many clear benefits:
It’s affordable
It’s customizable
It’s reliable
But let’s face it. A portable eyelash bed is NOT the most comfortable to stay in for 3 hours at a time. That’s why we’re giving you a glimpse of how to turn that uncomfortable portable lash bed into the most convenient lash bed ever.
Adjust your lash bed
1) Eyelash bed pad
The most common complaint with a portable massage bed is that the padding degrades over time. Get an eyelash bed topper to solve this problem. Your beauty clients come to you for more than just your service. You will feel beautiful, relaxed and rejuvenated. Bottom line, your customer wants convenience.

Lash Bed Set Up
The most important part of the lash space that I find even as an lash patient is how comfortable the lash bed is that I will lay on. Think about it. I don’t know about you, but doing anything with my eyes closed while awake is just absolutely excruciating. This makes time pass so slowly and I feel paralyzed for the entire duration of the appointment. When I lie awake, all I can think about is how bad my back hurts as I try not to move an inch and keep my eyes from twitching and rolling under my eyelids. I just want to fall asleep to make the time go by faster, and to do that I need to be absolutely comfortable. As an eyelash stylist, nothing is as irritating as a client who is constantly restless and moving, which means we have to pause our lashing to avoid accidentally sticking tweezers in their eyes or misapplying the extension . We need your customers to play dead, to whip efficiently and perfectly. So how can we eyelash artists make it possible for the customer to feel as comfortable as possible? First of all, you should get a good quality eyelash bed. I myself use a massage table with a thick, comfortable surface. I find the lash bed works best for me, but I’ve seen lash artists use beauty chairs or lounge chairs as well. I also bought a twin size 3 inch memory foam topper and simply trimmed it to fit my massage table. This adds that cushioned and comfortable layer on top of the bed, making it feel like the customer is sleeping on a really nice mattress. As I’m from Edmonton and the weather has been -25 lately, I added a heated massage table pad to keep my clients extra warm and cozy. I keep my room temperature around 22 degrees in the winter, but if we lie down and take a nap for a while, our body temperature drops and it can get a bit cold for the client. The last layer of my bed is a fitted duvet. This doesn’t really add to the comfort level for the customer, it just gives the space a clean, comfortable aesthetic. Now for the accessories. You should have a cozy, preferably fluffy, blanket at the foot of your bed for your client to use – you can even wrap it for extra bonus points. Again, this makes them feel like they are in their own bed and encourages a comfortable nap. You should also use something that you can put under your knees to elevate your legs, which will relieve your back and prevent those horrible back pains I talked about earlier. I just use a simple decorative pillow for this. Last but not least, a memory foam eyelash pillow to support your client’s head and neck. I love my eyelash cushion because it’s super comfortable for your clients. There is a groove in the middle that keeps her neck exactly in place. There’s a little “ramp” to support your neck in this position, preventing neck pain, and of course the memory foam adds that luxurious touch. This is to your advantage as your customers won’t try to move their head too much AND the sides of the cushions are flat surfaces that you can place your tools on without them falling off as easily. You can also add this pillow tray that fits perfectly into the lash pad and has dots to hold your tweezers, glue, phone, tape, fans, etc! Once your bed is set up so comfortably, your client will be sure to fall asleep within minutes! Time flies a lot faster for them, they wake up with gorgeous lashes (the only time I wake up looking better than I did before bed) AND they can work much more efficiently and deliver the best lashes you can!
