How to set the right humidity level

A special reptile fluorescent light is not required as a typical household fluorescent will work just fine. These bulbs can be found in a variety of lengths to suit your terrarium, so choose one that covers at least 80% of the terrarium’s length. Compact fluorescent lamps
Compact Fluorescent Lights (or CFL) are the energy efficient light bulbs that have become very popular over the past decade. These are sometimes referred to as “spiral bulbs” but come in other shapes as well.
Ordinary household compact fluorescent lamps can be used to illuminate a Pacman frog habitat. These lamps have a high light output with low watt consumption and can even be dimmed.
Try to use CFLs that have a low equivalent wattage (40-50 watts) or are dimmable. Intense lighting is known to negatively affect the PacMan frog’s vision with prolonged use. This is especially true for albino PacMan frogs, which have very sensitive eyes. Avoid using very bright light bulbs for long periods of time with albino PacMan frogs.

They come in different intensities (cool white, warm white, natural daylight, etc.) and even ones that can change color. This variant can give the PacMan frog parent a lot of cool options to play with for the terrarium lighting.

We’ve talked quite a bit about day lighting, and we mentioned night lighting above. Now let’s talk a bit about night lighting.
Truly, PacMan frogs don’t need lights at night. The most important thing to remember is to maintain enough warmth for the PacMan frog during the night hours.
The number one reason you might want to provide nighttime lighting is so you can observe your PacMan frog during its most active times. The best way to achieve this is to use a black or red reptile bulb. These lamps provide very little visible light, but just enough to be able to see what is happening in the terrarium. These bulbs do not disturb the PacMan frog during night cycles like a bright bulb might.
We recommend the Exo Terra Night-Glo Moonlight bulb. This bulb also generates some heat so make sure you use a lamp wattage that matches the size of the terrarium. You don’t want to use a high wattage bulb and overheat the terrarium. For a small terrarium, a 15-25 watt light bulb should be sufficient to maintain proper temperatures.
Most night lamps also generate heat, so make sure you use a lamp wattage that is appropriate for your terrarium size.

The first species discovered was the Brazilian Horned Frog in 1823. The eighth and last species was found in 1986. However, given the amount of unexplored rainforest in Brazil, it’s possible that other species remain to be discovered.

Reptiles with metabolic bone disease are unable to produce enough calcium to build strong bones. As a result, they have flexible legs and arms, bent mandibles, and a curved spine. If caught early, it can be treated with injections of vitamin D3 under the skin.
Pacman frogs are also very susceptible to bacterial infections. This is due to their thin skin and humid environment.
Rotbein syndrome and flavobacteriosis are two commonly diagnosed bacterial diseases in this frog.
Both conditions are caused by dirty substrate or water and stress.
Pacman Frog setup
The natural habitat of the Pacman frog is both tropical and dry forests.
They tend to live near tree roots, low branches, and other forms of cover. They use this cover to hide from predators and ambush prey. It’s also common to find them near small temporary pools.
When setting up a Pacman frog enclosure, the two most important factors to consider are moisture and substrate.
These amphibians like to dig.
Their substrate should be three to four inches deep and non-abrasive to allow them to burrow.
Coir is the best choice because it’s soft, retains moisture, and is cheap to buy in bulk. Keep the coir moist but not wet. Squeezing the substrate should yield a few drops of water.
Humidity is another important factor in maintaining a healthy frog.
Too little moisture can lead to rest. Too much can lead to skin infections.
The ideal humidity for a Pacman frog is 70 to 80%.

Provide a bowl large enough for your frog to soak in, but only half full (below face level) as Pacman frogs are poor swimmers and can drown. Don’t keep more than one Pacman in a tank, they are very aggressive and will eat anything in their path including other Pacman frogs!
Heat, Light & Humidity
Maintain a temperature of 18°C (65°F) at night and 29°C (85°F) during the day. Use a suitable heat lamp on one side of the tank so your frog can escape the heat if necessary. Live plants thrive very well in a Pacman enclosure due to the deep soil and high humidity. For live plants to thrive, Pisces recommends: Exo Terra Natural Light Daylight Bulb in addition to the heat source. Do not use a heating pad!! Pacman frogs like to burrow deep and can easily burn themselves on a heating pad. Amphibians absorb water through their skin, always use RO water or conditioner to ensure there is no chlorine. Maintain high humidity of 60%-80%, this can be achieved with daily misting, moist moss and moist substrate.
